I got my vibrant bricked yesterday while i was returning to stock rom and then upgrading it to Froyo through samsung kies mini. I tried all types of combinations of keys and ended up it failure. I cant get the mobile into download mode. Many say that with the help of USB jig i can unbrick it easily and get the download mode back.
I would like to know few opinion regarding this.
Have you read the thread below this one? Is your problem similar?

Yea you mean the thread Vibrant bricked? Maybe not. [E:Can't mount, Solved ??
Yea i saw tat thread this was the problem i had when i tried to revert from a cm9 mod. Then i downloaded the stock eclair v2.1 rom and flashed it using odin. After that only i got the phone bricked where i upgraded to froyo using the samsung kies mini and when everything got upgraded the phone didnt reboot at all for about 1/2 hr. i tried all sort of things and nothing responded.
Yeah that's the thread I was talking about, I've had that problem and went through all that but not your issue. Sorry thought I could help.

Actually The Problem is.
We Updated the Device to CM7 and ICS and we messed up the Modem in it. SO we didnt get signal after the boot up and also by flashing a Modem.
Then what we did is, we used ODIN back to ECLAIR and it boot up fine and we got signal and everything was working fine like out of the box.
Then we used KIES MINI to update the software from ECLAIR TO FROYO officially.
Kies mini went fine in the Process and after it said Firmware update process completed we click finished and then nothing showed up on the device..
It shows blank screen all the time, key combination wont work and also it wont boot up.
Also we tried the download mode by pulling out the battery, still no sign of download mode yet..
Yea been searching in many forums and saw some useful posts regarding this brick.
There has been some problems with the update of froyo v2.2 that is released and many customers got the phone bricked during this update. This is the same thing that happened to me the other day..
http://androidgals.com/2011/01/22/froyo-upgrade-fails-for-some-vibrant-users-see-our-fix/
Hope i get my jig today and try to get into the download mode and update you guys here. Anyways....... its like ((

So I had the same problem as many out there, got the OTA update from tmobile, tried to install it, installation failed, screen stuck on vibrant. OK! So I dowloaded ODIN, followed all instrunctions, was able to wipe and reinstall to stock with no problems.
The problem is when I try to update the new OTA J16 with ODIN, it starts the process, makes to where it says factory... and doesn't go any further, I waited up to 15 minutes one time. I haven't seen anyone else with the same issue...can plese someone help???
Help much appreciated...
I can't post links, but try this ROM out it worked for me. Search for this:
[TUTORIAL][ROM] How to fix your phone and apply the update
It lets you go back to stock then update to ji6.
Hope this helps.
EDIT:
Be sure you don't have re-partition clicked when your trying to update to JI6
I'm already back to stock as I said in my first post (re-partition, 512, original) That wasn't a problem, the problem is when I try to update to j16, it loads about half way then it freezes. I don't understand why! WTF!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Try using mini kies to perform the update.
Wow. Yet another poster referring to the the update as J ONE 6. Where are you seeing this? Not that it matters much but it's J EYE SIX and will affect searching to a degree.
Sorry.....J-I-6 my bad.
Thanks, I'll give mini a shot

I tried both versions, V1 first a few times, then V1.3, both with the same results. Followed instructions to the T. It'S funny cause the full reinstall back to stock was smooth, and i did that a few times as well, since when it froze, I was forced to.

I did all that rooting crap. Now when I press the power putton, it flashes the "Samsung Vibrant" Image, then plays the tmobile tone, but no "S" image appears. And it stays black. How do I fix this?
define "all the rooting crap"? Did you flash a Voodoo Rom and try to flash something else on top of it?
There is NO way to tell you what you need to do unless you tell us what you did.
But based on what you have described.. Gonna say u are SOL.
Use odin to flash stock rom then start over. I have been stuck on that screen a couple times. Lol

Truth be told
Anthony is right. i had this issue earlier this week when trying to flash a mod to my phone. Odin is the only choice at this point.
This has happened to me twice, most recently after "fixing permissions" in the oclf market program. Both times I've rectified by booting into recovery and "reinstall packages". Both times I also removed sim and sd and after a couple repetitions of package reinstall it comes back to life. Maybe dumb luck, maybe not, worked twice...

Also...My Vibrant Wont Turn On
Dear All
I am new to this forum and need some assistance. I recently bought a T-Mobile Vibrant from a friend who had brought it with him for the US. I am using it in the Middle East where I live at the moment.
I have been reading a lot in the past few weeks about the Vibrant and almost everything there is to know. It seems there is always more to discover.
Back to the issue at hand. I had been having problems with getting my phone to reboot into recovery mode but I finally managed to do so last night. I wanted to flash my phone with Axura 2.1E, Nero V2 or the Macnut v14, so I can use the the Black Froyo theme on it.
First, I flashed the original firmware (T959...JDF) which I got off your site, using Odin v1.3. That worked as it should. Then I proceeded to follow instructions to download the ClockworkMod from this thread: [RECOVERY] ClockworkMod Recovery for Vibrant (FINAL! SAFE!)
After I copied the CWM file to the Internal sd card, I downloaded Rom Manager, rooted the phone with Z4root, chose the Samsung Vibrant in Rom manager and clicked install ROM from sd card. it rebooted into recover mode (blue writting), I clicked 'reinstall packages', which it did and it rebooted into the ROM recovery mode (green writting). I chose the option to install zip file from sd card, then chose Axura 2.1E and it installed until it said complete.
So far everything was working as it should, or at least that was the impression I got. I am not sure of this next step. It said installation complete, so i chose 'go back', then 'reboot device'. When it went into reboot, nothing happened...just a black screen. It wont start, neither normally, not into any other mode (recovery or download). i plugged it into the charger and not even the battery icon would come up. i assume that it is...'dead' and I just did the impossible. I tried several ways and combinations to get it back to life somehow, but I have a feeling that's it.
Any suggestions, advice, remedies, whatever help...even condolences would be much appreciated..
Much appreciated and all the best to all.
Cheers
What the heck is up with all these HARD BRICKs?
Past few days, I keep reading people who have appeared to truely HARD BRICK their phone.
Meaning they can not get into download mode, they can not use odin, they are truely hard bricked.
What is up with the sudden surge of hard bricks.
This guy sounds like he did everything correct.
Scary.
Ya I've seen a lot of those also... could it be a newer version of the Vibrant? Yes he did everything correctly... he could try a jig.. its only maybe 10 bucks? worth a try at least...
My Vibrant wont turn on
Thanks guys for the reply to my post. I was thinking today that even though I did follow instructions correctly, that I might have missed a step at the end.
My thoughts went to the fact that after the installation of my chosen ROM (Axura 2.1E) was complete, I was given the choice of installing update.zip again, along with some other ones which I forgot what they were and the option to 'go back'. I went 'back' and pressed reboot device.
If the installation was fully complete, would not the phone go into automatic reboot?
Anyways seem like the boot is screwed and I am getting help from a friend to get it back to life again.
Anyone can confirm what to do after I install a 'ROM' successfully. Is there another step afterwards which I must be aware of to fully complete the flash?
Cheers again

Hey everyone...
I need help.. And its not my phone nor do i have it in my possession... Kinda troubleshooting over the phone... My nephew got a samsung vibrant... Got his phone rooted and had Darky's v7.7 Gingerbread Edition rom running... It booted up ran for a bit had a LOGSPROVIDER error stopped unexeptedly message....
He shut the phone off then rebooted and it wont boot past the first boot screen... HE also cant get into recovery but download mode works fine..
Possible solutions..?
Well if he can get into download mode the he should just odin back to stock and reinstall the rom!

Thats what I was thinking... Im not familiar with samsung phones.. Whats the purpose of download mode?
Safety feature? I presume..
I find it odd though that it booted fine and was ok until he rebooted and it wouldnt load... Any specific reason that could happen
Nah if you read the disclaimers devs put up it clearly says "i am not responsible for bricking, etc."
So no, there should be no specific reason why your nephews phone won't boot, more unless he was running a lag fix and flashed the wrong zip or whatever then yeah...
But download mode is I guess a fail-safe for samsung if the phone bricks or anything, afterall the vibrant is nearly impossible to fully brick

Thank You for the help...
He opted to call tmo and there sending a replacement.. Then asked him if he bricked the phone... He played dumb.. and said he rebooted the phone and it wouldnt load...
And yes i know about the devs disclosure... Got myself a mytouch slide which just finally got s-off courtesy of ALPHAREV woohoo.. Also have a G1 from back when it first came out.. SO i got plenty of rom downloading under my belt

This same thing happened to me. I read about making a jig, yeah right. So I continued for the better part of three hours plugged into my computer with data cable continuing the same motion that I would to get into download mode. And finally I got the download dude. I used the s1.odin somthing .pit file I think it was the first .pit to come out. Not the 512.pit Along with the first .jar. Anyway keep trying to get into download mode even with a black screen, can be done.

The last thing i wanted to do is make a n00b post like this but i want to make sure i have missed anything so far.
I have a white 9100m that a friend gave to me. It was upgraded to stock Bell ICS when it was released. The phone got really warm in his pocket then shut off. When he tried to power it on it would just sit at the SGSII splash screen forever.
Some things to note:
- Download mode works
- Cannot get into recovery
- Phone charges fine
Now i have tried Odin to flash stock Bell ICS both with the appropriate pit and without. I have tried flashing a ICS CF-root to try and get into a CWM recovery and it doesn't work. I cannot also get the phone to be recognized with ADB with the android SDK installed or after installing kies.
I am lost and am ready to just send it in but perhaps i am missing something that people 100x smarter me will know. Any thoughts?
Theres a thread by Phistachio so have a look there.

Did you get any error while carrying out the instructions in that thread?
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
No error at all. ODIN successfully flashed anything i threw at it. This is why i am thinking its hardware related.
I have installed slim bean on my vibrant but found it laggy....so i wants to back to ics ...now i m flashing ics rom but getting error as installation aborted.
I have flashed glitchy kernel but no luck
Help me
Odin back to stock first. I think your treading on dangerous territory if you try to go from JB to ICS directly.
I agree with Toast ^^
I always suggest going back to stock via odin before doing anything like that, just to be safe.
If you can't or are in a rush,....you can get back to ICS from JB in the usual way (full wipe, flash)...I do it all the time, since odin isn't an option for me
at the moment...so I can assure you it's more or less safe, since my phone is still running just fine even though I've gone back and forth without odin quite a few times.
But again, if possible....always odin.
Good luck!
Finally tried to flash phone with odin but i m not able to go into download mode...i have tried 3keys combo, usb jig but no luck.
Now phone is stuck on samsung vibrant screen maybe now its bricked.
Any suggestions wat to do now ?

Sometimes it can be tricky getting into DL mode. Try pulling the battery, have phone plug in to the cable/PC, hold button combo and put the battery back in. Also try different ports on PC doing this. If you have any life you are not hard bricked so don't panic!

I m not able to go into recovery or download mode.
I m feeling i have killed my vibrant

when did last time u used download mode? were u able to use recovery after flashing slimbean? u should have odined back before installing ics ............I think if u can't enter both recovery and download mode then u might have hard bricked ur vibrant.........
Downgrading
When downgrading, upgrading or flashing new roms, it is always good practice to odin back to stock. This will help remove any "ghost" files that may still be around.
Sorry to hear about your phone but don't give up. Keep searching the forums and you may find a way to fix our phone.
I have searched all forums but not found any gud answers .
Is there any way to unbrick hard bricked phones ?

I heard about one click unbrick ......just search it ......that will be ur last hope............if that won't work then u got ur self new fancy paper weight .....sorry cantdo anything .......if u are in India then give to Samsung service centre they might help
Just because you don't see the graphic showing download mode doesn't mean you cannot get in it.
In a post a couple days ago called "I need help!" Woodrube posted a guide about it.
Open Odin, plug in your USB to PC, not phone yet.
Now try to enter download mode. You may set no graphics or black screen but, it doesn't mean Odin won't see your phone. Its happened 3 times that I know of in the last couple days. Since you can still see the Vibrant text all hope isn't lost.
Just some "in case you need it" info, you can go to
www.mobiletechvideos.com
They can do a JTAG repair to fix a hard brick. They can also perform the unbrickable mod. They are very professional and have fast service. I shipped my phone off from Washington D.C. to them in Texas on a tuesday, I had my phone back on monday. They stayed in contact to notify me when my phone arrived, when they completed and shipped.
Hopefully no one will need their service but JIC.

Hi
My phone is stuck on splash screen and have tried hard reset but phone does not turn;s on.
Phone doesn't connects to KIES even on boot screen??
Can anyone help me ??? Its URGENT
Pretty sure your phone is supported by kies mini, not kies.
You cannot perform a software recovery or update with kies mini. You could try flashing the stock ROM back onto the device or send it in to Samsung for a free software reflash.
If you send it in to Samsung it will take about 2 weeks.
Your carrier may be able to perform a software reflash as well.
Just curious...has your phone ever suffered liquid damage? It can cause damage to components on the PBA that would prevent it from booting up.
Hope this helps! Feel free to pm me if you have any questions

Nope.. it was not dropped in any liquid nor its pba is damaged... i think its hard bricked now ...

If you were using kies when this happened then your phone is basically a paper weight unfortunately. Kies is notorious for hard bricking phones so for future reference, stay away from kies. Best way to upgrade is flashing custom ROMS through cwm recovery mode. Try and flash back to stock with Odin, I have heard of people being able to get Odin to see the phone even if your not in download mode. If that doesn't work then maybe try buying a USB jig to get into download mode. If that doesn't work either then try calling Samsung and tell them kies bricked your phone, they have replaced out of warranty phones before due to kies bricking them.

it got hard bricked using odin only... kies was not running that time...i flashed stock ginger bread rom over stock froyo and using 512 pit file... and it displyed failed on ODIN..and then when i removed the phone battery first and then USB unplugged.... pushed back battery again..pressed both volume button...booommm no screen till then...i really dont know what to do now...
Samsung will not replace a phone bricked by kies, not sure who told you that.
Samsung's warranty doesn't cover replacements only repairs.
If your phone was bricked by kies they'll be able to fix it though.
A reflash would solve your problem if you can't get it to flash in Odin.
Their system doesn't require you to be able to get into download mode.
Hope you're able to get it working if not send that biatch in
Reflash is free in or out of warranty
