Can I use the HDMI output on a 720p tv? I'm pretty sure it outputs at 1080p, but I want to use it on a 720p display.
Pretty sure the Rezound only outputs at 720. I could be wrong though. If you have a "smart" TV, it should downscale...

You don't have to have a smart tv for it to downscale. It has been about 5 years since TVs couldn't downscale.

Honestly, I don't have an HDTV. I'd like to buy a small one for the express purpose of using it with my phone. I need to know whether or not to buy 1080p or 720p. I know about the resolution difference in quality, so I'm not debating for use as a TV, just whether or not I can use the HDMI out.

Well...Sony has not even attempted plasma in years. Specially not the past 3 years. If your TV is a bravia and that old it is more than likely an LCD, though could be a LED. They had a few LED models 3 years ago. Like the XBR8.

Doesn't really matter. If you get a 1080p television, it will downscale. Also, on a small TV that's less than 20 inches or so, you can't really tell much of a difference between 1080 and 720. I'm sure someone will argue that point, but I personally can't.
I'd definitely recommend a Sony or a Samsung, though.

The accessories listed above with a 1 year contract is tipping me over to the TB side. My two concerns for the TB is the battery life and cellular reception. I have only owned 2 HTC phones; one was the Tilt on the AT&T network (the reception was sub-par) and the second is the Droid Eris (it does have good reception with the new radio).
The Devs have made the Eris into a good viable smartphone for the masses but the screen size is still not to my liking. I want and need more screen size and resolution to make it work well for me.
I have been thinking of waiting for the Bionic to come out and look at the comparison reviews before making the decision. With the 4G tiered plans looming over our heads, I don't know if it's a good idea to wait. Lastly, how is the earthquake and tsunami in Japan going to affect the availability of new phones?
Decisions... decisions... Both of my lines are up for renewal.....

It is still the 32gb card. I called verizon today because I am on the fence between this and the merge (assuming it has an LTE radio and how long it will take to come out?) I'm sick of the D2 and I miss HTC phones, so i'm going to be paying the full lick. I wanted to find out about data pricing and she said it would be the same, with no premium. And "unlimited". I'm kind of afraid to wait because of the tiered pricing coming up and I really don't want to lose unlimited data.
oh, and there's this.

I was in your boat with wanting to wait for the LG or Moto device but after hearing from my buddy on the inside, I ordered the thunderbolt so I could jump on unlimited LTE, Verizon will grandfather your unlimited plan and you'll never have to worry about going over and having to pay more, to me, that was worth it alone, I'll wait 20 months to get a new device for unlimited LTE, even if it's not in your area, more then likely, it will be over the next year or so, but from what I've heard from my buddy, unlimited data is going to be ending in the next weeks, not summer time like some of the tech hubs have been saying, I'm using the ext battery and waiting for a case that'll fit, love the device, will root once custom recoveries are available! Good luck with your choice
Oh and Radio is great in this device, personally I think it's stronger then my incredible not by much but usually where I have one bar I have two and so forth plus lte is a dream, no issues with using hotspots for my Xbox to get on some COD, bandwidth report under options in cod shows 10000kbs, better then my ll DSL at only 515 kbs.

There is no HDMI port on the phone, period. There is a new standard interface for USB->HDMI dual port (called HML), but I know the Thunderbolt doesn't have it. I looked at the port with my own eyes.
I think you and that PDF file are referring to the DLNA->HDMI adapter from HTC:
mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=10802
It will work good for us folks that don't have DLNA tvs, but don't assume you will be able to do Atrix style webtop, mirror display things. DLNA is for streaming video and music, not re-compressing what is on your Android/Thunderbolt screen and sending it via DLNA. Think about the lag on that and overhead to do it. Lack of HDMI, like the Atrix was one of my biggest hangups with the Thunderbolt. I think it was a huge mistake to think DLNA is the future. Webtop, HDMI, MHL, and/or WHDI are! Booooo HTC. But everything else so far is awesome with the Thunderbolt! So cheers HTC!

I believe the processor is capable of recording in 1080p. It is mentioned that it is capable of encoding and decoding 1080p video. So this should be fixed through a firmware update.

The processor is a MSM8660, in the specifications sheets, it is mentioned that it is able to decode and encode video up to 1080P. Now megapixels should not matter (I believe 5 is more than adequate) when it comes to shooting high definiton footage. I think it comes down to whether the sensor is capable of doing so. Now my expertise doesnt lie in photography, so if anyone does know if it comes down to the sensor and the lenses, please inform us so. I do know that the processor is capable of doing so.

Different screen technologies. The Evo uses a parallax screen which blocks one eye from seeing what the other eye can see which creates the 3D effect. See here for more info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallax_barrier
Hence when you close one eye you lose 3d because you arent seeing one of the images at all. And when you are looking at 3d media if you change the viewing angle a lot the image will flutter.

because the 3d on the evo is a gimmick, and 3d on tvs is not.
TV uses glasses with a shutter IIRC, wherein the glasses simulate a left/right motion or up/down (or both) 120+ times a second to help create the 3d effect.
Or I could be totally wrong, I'm just trying to recall what I was told....
Shutter Glasses are vital signs for creating a 3D effect. The shutter glasses are basically an expensive pair of glasses, which has a layer liquid crystal on lenses that turns dark when voltage is applied. Infrared help in signal transmission to sync the Shutter Glasses with the 3D TV set and it’s electronic circuits controls them in creating the 3D impact, when they are worn while watching TV.
The content for 3D are basically pulled out from three major sources.

Proximity... You'd need to remain in a relative position to have optimum viewing of the displayed media for the EVO 3D.
I can sit in almost any location where our 3D TV is located and have a decent view of the screen still.
EVO 3D, I have to keep it in a good somewhat consistent location to view it decently.
The wikipedia posting above has a lot of good information for how our phones work.

Because the screen on the 3vo requires your eyes to be between certain distances from the screen, and facing it head on in order for the effect to work. With TV, people will all be watching from different angles and distances, so it won't work for that.

Toshiba is working on glasses free 3dtv. They had a prototype of them at this past CES in January. It worked pretty good and you didnt have to stay in one spot or view it face on.
I can't find the link (more like too lazy right now), but it was just out at a convention in China I believe...
Lenticular lens lay over sheets to be placed on devices up to 23" for an affordable price are coming out in the near future it looks like.
Glasses-less 3D TV's are just around the corner... We're not that far off in technology land.

Pentile ruins it - the subpixel density is about the same as ours.
e.g. there's a reason it isn't HD AMOLED "Plus" - if it's not Plus, it's PenTile.
I was browsing and came across this tablet:
http://mobile.theverge.com/2012/5/3/2995878/wikipad-3d-gaikai-cloud-gaming-announcement
It will have a quad core tegra 3 processor and ship with Android 4 and retail at a mere $250 with the gamepad. What I'm wondering is, could this be better than the prime, for like half the price? It does look quite promising and you can switch from 2d to 3d anytime, on any app.
I was set to get the transformer 300 but may this be superior?
Thoughts?
Sent from my R800i using XDA
The article doesn't mention that it will be $250. But it would be pretty cool is some third party manufacturer made something like this for the transformer prime.
If you view other articles, then I'm sure the price is meant to be $250. Unless they've changed their plans...

if you wait for the best thing there will always be something better just around the corner.
from what i read its a smaller screen and might not even be touchscreen, i dont know i didnt spend a lot of time reading about it... basically its a cheap android tablet that supports 3d and has a custom built gamepad dock.
The prime or 300 are more like premium built tablets that support a hell of a lot more than that gamepad, bigger screen, and a full keyboard dock, however slightly more expensive.
My quesitons for you are this:
Do you need a tablet right away
Will you be using it for games, videos, music, internet, etc.
Will a keyboard dock be benifitial to you
how often will you use the gamepad
will using a bluetooth controller (like a PS3 Controller) be an acceptable alternative
Basically, weigh out each benifit and downfall of each tablet and based on your own use determine which is the best fit for you. None of us can tell you which will be the best decision for you.
