Voice Recording - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

How do you feel the voice recording quality is on the Galaxy Ace? On mine its pretty bad.
Is there any way to improve the quality?

CM7 Camera Quality?

Anyone notice that the CM7 camera on the vibrant is kinda grainy looking and not as good quality as the stock camera?
No, not really. It seems just as accurate and sharp as the samsung camera app.

I know what you mean....I know the Samsung Camera is good especially Samsung manufacturing cameras themselves.
I love how the videocam at night doesn't start lagging and slowing like most phone cameras

sorry but i have to disagree on that one.
just install hdr camera+ or fxcamera problem solved
CM6 had great camera quality and feature set. does anyone know if/when CM7 will get those? i thought the recent kernel release would help in that aspect.

Exactly the words I had in mind.Even the alternative camera apps in the Market don't quite satisfy me.
But people,it's AOSP camera, not CM7 camera.CM has nothing to do with it.Although we can all agree it sucks anyway.
Um, yeah and its an AOSP camera. Just like everything in CM7 is AOSP. Just like everything has been modified, including the camera.
I think that warrants justification enough to call it 'CM7' camera.

ICS + Voodoo Sound on SGS2 ?

I've just moved from the SGS to the SGS2 today... Since I was using an unofficial ICS ROM on my SGS for some time now, I decided to go ahead and flash the official KP8 (Android 4.0.3) firmware on the new phone. I'm wondering since I have just about everything as I want it now, the only thing I'm missing is Voodoo Sound. So is there a custom kernel I can flash on this firmware to get me Voodoo? Thanks guys!
-Prasad.
Supercurio is an audiophile and won't develop on phones with crappy sound.
That thanks was accidental, woops.
The KP8 ROM is hardly official, it's a leaked release. As far as I know there are still a few things missing or not working in it. I also doubt there are any working custom ROMs for it as the sources aren't released yet (as far as I know).
On another note there is no Voodoo Sound on the SGS2, just Voodoo LOUDER which just gives the phone up to 6db boost to anything using the 3.5mm jack

Yup, that's why he's released the Voodoo LOUDER app without any sort of development, right?
I'm hardly looking for a custom ROM. When chainfire offers root through his CF-Root kernels, I'm simply asking if there's a kernel as basic as possible (just as CF-Root) but with the addition of Voodoo Sound for this 'leaked' firmware.. ?

Weird... okay, why would you guys say that? I believe curio initially developed his VS on the SGS? How does the SGS2 audio device compare?

As I recall, Supercurio only wants to develop with good hardware, so apparantly the SGS has a better sound chip than SGS2.
Take a look at his article.
ZOMFG that's depressing... And thanks for the info, guys. MUCH appreciated!! :/

I just did. And it seems like a nice time to get a stroke.... Really can't believe I'm gonna miss Voodoo Sound, and that too, this much... SGS sound was fnckin' unbeatable with it!
P.S.> Does Voodoo LOUDER really help any?

Anyone know how to improve camera performance?

So I did some searches online and on XDA and after not finding any conclusive evidence I thought I'd post the question. Anyone know good mods for camera performance and how to install them? maybe an app will do the trick?
Some of the alternate roms in the dev section have tweaks done to the camera and vid settings.
I'm not sure specifically what you are after but read the run down on unnamed rom and icscrewed rom.
I'm running unnamed right now and I feel the camera worsened

What do you mean by worsened?
Try messing with the metering modes and the iso's to see what works best for you. Also if you have shaky hands turn the anti-shake on.

I've wondered this too. The speed of click to save seems high. I was playing with a buddy's galaxy nexus and it seemed leaps and bounds faster in terms of click to photo.

yeah, the GS2 camera is not the fastest by any chance, especially when you compare it to the iphone 4s camera speed.

Two questions before flashing an AOSP rom

Hey everyone.
Hope someone can help me.
Two questions basically:
1. Is there a way to get stock camera like quality with an AOSP rom? Last time I checked the picture and video quality was really really terrible in AOSP roms like CM, etc. Has this improved or is it possible to instal the Touchwiz camera on CM to get the stock picture and video quality?
2. What about battery life? I also remember it being much worse than stock. Any suggestions to make it better and more like Touchwiz rom? Maybe there's a good kernel that I should try to extend the battery life?
Thanks!

(1) cameras are mostly fixed and quality is also quite ok. I still feel Samsung was better in the past (whereas long time on aosp here)
(2) in the beginning, you are correct, battery was terrible, or at least less than TW roms, now I get nearly the same time out of it. (using slimbean)

1. Yes, it is almost the same.
2. Now battery life is the same, if not better than stock TouchWiz
I've gone through some AOSP rom threads and I still see people complaining about the camera
Is there some camera app that I would need to install or only use the AOSP stock camera that comes with the AOSP roms?

I haven't seen any complaints and when i'm not running a nightly the camera is great.
Cyanogenmod, I'm using it and in my opinion its the best ROM available, ive never had a single crash on stable versions (nightlies crash on the camera) battery life is great, performance is better than a lot of ROMs but not quite as good as Liquid Smooth and camera quality is also great. Beware that on the current CM11 nightlys the camera makes the phone crash so use CM10.2 instead.

What is screen on time.
Maybe you have not tried Stock ML2 yet. It is far better than 10.2 in terms of battery(according to your stats.)
I'm at 55% after 20 hours with 2 hours screen on time(heavy to moderate usage).

Wifi almost 60% of the time.
Heavy browsing around 40 min.
Whatsapp wechat intstagram twitter email (keep checking every hour) (no auto sync)
10 min calling.
Heavy camera usage took around 30+ pics.
maybe 15 min music.
No gaming at all.
I have 70+ apps installed.
