Ok, so I have a usb jig and I have mobile odin. Can I get fully back to stock with this setup? I need to return the phone for repair so I need to unroot and get back to stock asap! How do I know what stock kernel and firmware are any more? Been running Miui for so long I've lost track of what stock is!

you may able to successfully flash a Stock rom through Mobile ODIN,
but to reset your flash counter you need old bootloader, about which u dont have any idea,
If you dont know...how we do know about your old firmware?
1: get the stock rom for your region
2: if its ICS you dont need jig
3: if its GB one option is jig other is also available.
4: use cwm and wipe your phone also wipe system partition
5: use odin from windows and flash the stock rom.
[you can use mobile odin but it requires root]
6: after first boot dial wipe code *2767*3855#
use jig and your set to go if your on GB
use triangle away if ur on ICS
I'm in the UK, my phone is on orange and was bought from the carphone warehouse. Which firmware will I need? I'll probably go back to gingerbread so I can use the jig.

Just download the latest stock firmware on www.samfirmware.com , you needa make a account on that site and then you are able to download every stock rom Since your in the UK download a UK rom, ics or 2.3.6 gb rom depends on which versions are released in your country. I guess your ok if you flash ICS.

Hi,
First of all I've done a lot of searching and no success on how to do it, if possible.
I have a SGSII rooted(CF-Root) with CheckROM RevoHD V4 and ICS Domination Theme.
I wanted to know, how can i restore back entirely to stock and be able to do normal kies updates since a co-worker is buying my phone full price but with the condition i take it back entirely to stock.
I already did a firmware restore following this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
But although it doesn't seem to be rooted anymore Baseband Version and Kernel Version say different things and Build Number says CheckROM RevoHD V4, and the Domination Theme is still applied.
If there is a way to do what i want to do I would appreciate any help.
Thank you in advance.
The flash didn't work properly.
What worked for me only a few weeks ago was....
Using CWM format internal SD.
Using Odin flash stock firmware.
Using jig reset flash counter.
Everything was back to how it bought it.
Should be all you need to do.

Well im going to try that tonight but ill have to reflash cwm since i dont have it anymore for some reason
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
you gotta wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache
then grab a stock rom and flash it with odin, use intratech post under original android dev forum, with that you will lose everything and have a stock rom/modem/kernel
cheers
You can just delete the contents of internal SD instead of formatting. I just formatted to make it easier.
Like said about do a factory reset/wipe before flashing with Odin if your downgrading.
Hope it all goes well for you.

Ok I'm downloading one firmware from north america in that i think is not branded since my SGS2 it's suppose to be the international and I'm going to reinstall cf-root to have clockwork again and do it all over...
Only have to flash a cfroot kernel to temporarily have CWM. Not whole Rom if you just want to format etc.
Then flash a whole new stock Rom to reset to that version.

This is a post from Da_G, this should get you to stock. Just make sure you pick the correct carrier. Hope this helps and hope I copied the correct link.

Maybe you should re-read OP question as your response is not correct.
@OP- At this point odin is your only option.
ah, I see. my bad.
same situation here. the way i think it could work (to still be able to reset the counter) is:
1. flash system, kernel, and modem thru odin, leaving the cwm (or other) recovery.
2. flash the counter reset thru cwm
3. flash the stock recovery thru cwm or use adb commands.
the other possible way to not trip it is:
1. flash the gb rooted system image via odin (doesn't trip counter)
2. flash gb kernel and modem thru cwm
3. unroot
4. flash stock recovery
Does that sound about right?
I need to send my SGS2 back to Samsung for a hardware display fault on warranty, but obviously they're going to check the software etc.

I did find a guide, so yes, I have taken time to look. But there is one thing which I'm not sure about.
Currently my phone is Gingerbread 2.3.3 original ROM with CF root with Siyah kernal (CWM Recovery), firmware has never been upgraded. But Samsung warranty told me that my phone has to have the latest firmware (ICS I think) for them to process my warranty, so I have to upgrade the firmware.
Do I need to upgrade to ICS before doing the guide to reset to factory stock? Or reset to factory stock as Gingerbread then update to ICS? I also don't know if as a rooted phone with a different kernel can update itself the "normal" way through the Settings/Software option?
Thanks
I've had to do this and I returned it to stock by:
Flash stock ics
Root phone and install triangle away app
Run triangle away to remove triangle and reset counter to 0
Re-flash stock ics and factory reset. Done.

so do you mean that when you flash stock ICS, the phone becomes unrooted?
and how did you flash stock ics? using odin or kies or ota (i think from the phone settings)?
and how did you reflash it?
thanks.

Yes when you flash a stock ROM the insecure kernel is replaced with a stock kernel, therefore you lose root access to your phone. All this is done through Odin.

So last week I ODIN over the Swedish Jelly Bean for S3 as I was getting bored of waiting for the update. However, Vodafone have released the Jelly Bean update this morning so I wonder if it was possible to revert back to Vodafone's Ice Cream Sandwich to then get the official update from Vodafone.
So to summarise:
Non rooted Vodafone UK Samsung S3
Pushed the Swedish Official ROM using ODIN
Would like to go back to enable OTA updates to get official S3 JB ROM
Cheers
Download stock Vodafone ics firmware.
The best things to do is cfroot your device using Odin, then download triangle away and use it.
Then go to recovery and format system, and data under storage and mounts.
And wipe cache.
Then enter download mode and flash Vodafone stock using Odin.
The reason I say use cfroot and do it that way is to prevent any backwards compatibility that may occur if you flash straight over the top as odin does not format before flashing

Just out of curiosity, you are giving OP the most fool proof solution?
I thought rooting voids warranty (?), so my plan was to simply flash the older stock ROM from my region over the new stock ROM and then update OTA. Will that drastically increase the chances of ****ing up?

Great, thanks very much. I would like to keep it unrooted at the moment, so do I need to just unroot it prior to flashing the Vodafone stock ROM.
At the moment when I connect my phone to Kies it tells me that it is not available to update firmware and I would like to not have this with the original Jelly Bean ROM.

If you use triangle away you should have no issue. At the stage you enter recovery and wipe system and data you will have no rom on the phone. When you flash stock Vodafone ics it will be unrooted.
If you didn't want to go through all of this you could download the Vodafone branded Odin flashable jb rom and flash it over the top.
The only reason I'm suggesting cfroot is because you are talking of going back to ics first. Using this method would avoid all potential problems of flashing backwards, is more of a precaution that's all.

I need to return my Note back to stock. I rooted my Note back in Feb. the night I got it so I never did the official ICS update through OTA or Kies. Do I have to return back to GB that I started with or can I get by with flashing a stock ICS ROM, counter reset, and finaly Odin flash the stock recovery?
I appriciate any info ya'll guys are willing to provide.
ICS is the new stock... flash it.

Thanks! I have read several posts of people going all the way back to GB then doing the update to ICS through Kies. That seemed a little redundant and figured I'd ask lol. I assume all I need to do then is to flash the stock ICS rom, reset counter and then stock recovery (odin). Thanks again.

I think I misunderstood you. I thought you were asking which OS to use in order to be stock... not how to accomplish getting stock ICS on your phone. In any case I think if you are stock GB or stock ICS, Kies will work. But if you are running a custom/deodex version of GB/ICS, Kies will not work. That's probably what everyone was trying to tell you. So if you are running a custom ROM, you are going to need to flash a stock version of GB/ICS before Kies will work.

I gotcha. Actually been running JB for a while. Started of with GB which is when I rooted. Just didn't know if I had to go back to that or if I could just flash a stock 4.0.4 ROM before I retuned it for warranty (USB port issue). Bottom half of my screen doesn't register touch while charging.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
But does your USB issue affect the use of Odin? Be my first concern.
I don't believe it would. I can connect and is recognized on the computer and I can transfer files between phone and PC. I just have to unplug the cable from the phone in order for the screen to recognize touches around the lower half of screen

Should be good to go then. I would Odin flash stock GB, reset and double check the flash counter. Check for Kies connectivity and pending ICS update availability. Throw a bunch of random apps on to give an appearance of use. Return for warranty all while pretending Android is a great mystery to you, even though we know that's not the case. Best of luck.
Resolved! I went ahead and took the following steps.
Flashed the stock rar file (GB) through Odin
Flashed cwm touch recovery through Odin
Flashed stock (GB) modern through touch recovery
Flashed reset counter through touch recovery
Used ADB to install stock recovery (did not trip counter this way).
Now completely stock (GB), I connected to kies and updated to stock official ICS 4.0.4.
All set to return it for warranty!!!
Thanks for helping out guys!
