[Q] USB Problem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey!
I recently Rooted my Galaxy SII, I'm running 2.3.4 but recently my device wont connect Via USB to my Window's 7 Laptop, I get the Connected sound effect on the Laptop and it Disconnects 2 seconds afterwards, I don't have enough time to install drivers or anything like that before the phone actually Disconnects again, Anyone have the same problem or can help? Its really Pissing me off

As always first is to clean the usb port .
Second is to use Samsung cable .
Third is to only connect to a motherboard port .
Fourth make sure that Kies or the usb drivers are installed first try a rinstall .

Which ROM are u using? Did you check the thread if there are known issues? Does your phone indicate a USB connection?

[Q] Unstable USB Connection

Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830.
My usb connection is very unstable, it disconnects after a few seconds and then reconnects. This is corrupting my sd card.
I have installed kies only to provide drivers.
Using windows xp sp2. Reinstalled it twice.
I am running android 2.2.1.
I wanted to upgrade to 2.3.4 using Odin, but i am scared of doing that with this kinda connection, it might disconnect in between and brick my phone.
Any fixes or solution for this problem??
quick check did you tried any other usb port on your pc ? some times it might be a issue with a particular usb port ... n make sure wire is not loose in socket
had that problem on my old phone and found my cable was damaged on the inside so im getting a new one
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App
@devilcode, yes i have tried different ports, its still the same.
@King Kaze, i have tried 2 cables but still the same problem.
Sometimes it even gives 'windows processing exception' error and at times the Kies says that this 'device is not supported'.
Driver
Check the USB driver installation. If it is not installed properly, remove ur device in device manager and try reinstalling the USB drivers for S5830. Just try this... i am not sure, what ur problem exactly is

You have a driver issue, please don't try to tell us, the experiences the problem is something else, use common sense, uninstall Kies, reboot your computer and install again. If that doesn't do it then you have a problem with your cable or your phone

[Q] SGS2 is not responding to USB cable

Dear all
I read that in order to root my SGS2 I9100 I need to make Kies 2.0 work with my phone. I have never downloaded Kies on my pc (Win7 64bit), so I went on the samsung website and installed the correct Kies version for my phone.
After installation I opened Kies 2.0 on my pc, then connected my phone via USB, however my phone seems not to respond to the usb, other than that it went on charging. Also in Kies under 'Connected devices' it still says "Please connect a device".
Other things that I tried:
rebooting,
troubleshooting connect error under Kies,
reinstalling and rebooting, Applications>Development>USB debugging On/Off,
Wireless and network>USB utilities>USB mass storage
Nothings seems to work. It's like when I connect the phone to my pc via USB, my pc doesn't recognize it as any device, I don't even see a 'New usb device connected' or anything, it's also not listed under device manager. And my phone sees my pc only as a power source to charge...
Some other information:
- I have never flashed or rooted my phone
- I forgot which android version my phone had when I bought it (i think 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 but not sure), but I have updated it once via Settings>About phone>software update. It is now version 2.3.5
Has someone encountered the same problem like above? What can I do?
I probably missed something, someone please enlighten me
Try to reinstall kies and then download and try if odin detects your phone

Use the Samsung cable .

I think it's a problem with a USB cable too
And make sure you are plugged directly into a mainboard USB port, and not using a hub, or keyboard pass through or anything like that.

I'm using the USB cable that came with the phone. The 'jack' that goes inside the phone looks the same as from the cable of the charger.

Reinstalled Kies. Same problem exists. Excuse my foolishness, how do I know whether Odin is detecting my phone? I downloaded Odin3 v1.85, I don't see any phone information field.

According to the samsung website the driver for SGS 2 is in fact the Kies 2.0 software itsself. Which driver did you install? Is it possible to send me a link via pm, or in the url replace . with 'dot' or something

Cannot connect to Kies?

Ok so I have this strange problem on my s3. For a while I haven't been able to use my desktop pc due to space issues at home and have been using a laptop and all was well. I have eventually managed to squeeze out space for my desktop and am now having a strange problem. If i plug my s3 in its recognised as a media device in my computer as normal, but nothing triggers in kies at all. Like nothing. I dont even get an error message or an attempt at connection when in kies. But, it works fine still with the kes on my laptop? Any ideas? The one on my desktop has been reinstalled along with the drivers several times and I cannot figure out why its still not working.
Any helps really appreciated!
Jamie

Did you follow the steps correctly? Were the drivers installed?? You should see your phone detected in the toolkit after the drivers are installed. Try installing them again. I Had the exact same issue as your's, it got solved when I installed them like 2-5 tyms. Follow the steps mentioned in the toolkit.
