I managed to drop my prime whilst it was connected to the dock & on charge. It landed on the power connector and has damaged both the usb cable and the connector in the dock itself. Luckily the tablet seems fine. It seems that the connectors are fairly fragile.
Does anyone know where I can get either spares for the dock (main pcb I guess) or a complete new dock, plus usb cable? I'm in the UK.
As an aside, this is my 2nd prime. The first was a CO2 and had wifi issues (as well as gps) and was returned. The second is a CO3 and so far has been much, much better, although I have only had it 2 weeks.

So my tablet stopped charging yesterday. I know a lot of people are having issues with their wall charger, but I think my problem is due to the 40 pin connector. It looks like two or three of the pins got bent (not sure how). Every time I plug it in, it has a light crunching feeling. The wire to tablet connection is not sturdy at all and tends to bend downwards due to a lack of support in the tablet. Asus is sending me info on how to return the device. The tablet has been amazing other than this poor design. Anyone else having this issue?

Mine wouldn't charge/transfer data but that's because the connector fell apart. Not sure how your pins managed to get bent, but it should be easily rectified via RMA. Until you get your new charger you could probably snag an OG TF charger and use that. However, I would also check the socket on the Prime itself, see if there is anything "odd?" going on in there that could have bent the pins (and possibly do it again once you get another charger).
same problem here- I started another thread. the tablet will no longer charge. It was intermittent at first. sometimes it would stop charging without ever removing the charger or 40 pin connector from the device.
I don't know if it is just a bad charger/cable , or if there is something wrong internally on the tablet. I will be shipping mine back for full refund from where i purchased, unless there is something else to try?
As the stock USB cable just sucks when using the nook in portrait view while charging... is there a cable with an angled mini USB connector that can be used to charge the device (at full current)?
I have bought several off of ebay, some real cheap and only worked a couple of times and some that were inexpensive that are pretty good quality. I bought a couple of right angle and left angle from a seller (tigerdirect) and they have worked out well for me. I would also like to note that mini usb to micro usb adapters do not work for the nook.

This is a huge cable seller on ebay. Kind of hard to navigate through all the choices there are. I think they have over 45,000 items on ebay.
will these quick charge or slow?

I feel that I should note, when I plug the charger for my Droid 3 into my nook, it does charge. It doesn't show as charging though. Under settings it actually specified NOT charging, but it charges none the less.
The cable for my droid is NOT angled, but this indicates that they are universal. Just a bit of related information
I was mainly concerned about the ability to charge the NT at full current* with a replacement cable (and an angled one, of course). However, the angled micro USB plugs I've seen so far, are still quite long and I wouldn't want to rest the NT on them while reading in portrait view. Now I am kind of curious if one could mod a separate charging jack into the device overcoming the major design flaw of USB charging...
*which, as indicated somewhere in the NT-cable-thread, could be a special feature of the proprietary design of the NT cable (though not sure either if that proprietarity goes for both sides the full sized and the micro USB)

The stock cable has special circuitry and a longer 12 pin microusb end. It is the only way currently to get full high amp charging...any standard microusb will be limited to 500mA...standard USB charge limits. The only "special" thing about the stock brick is that the data pins are fully shorted.

I will be using my GT 7.7 allot in the car and likely in the landscape orientation. This puts the 30pin connector and cable sticking straight out the side.
Is there any 90 degree ("L" shaped) 30pin connectors available? (similar to a "L" shaped SATA connectors -see picture-)
If there is, this would point the cable towards the dashboard and and make the cable routing less messy looking.
I searched but didn't come up with anything.
Note: I know I could use the Samsung OEM car dock (which, I think, has the power cable connector in the back/bottom) but was looking for a lower cost option.
Thank
Any luck with finding one of these cables?

Have you had a look at my cheap solution for car a car dock and cable management yet?
I know this was posted awhile ago, but if you or anyone else is interested, the original samsung galaxy tab HDMI dock uses the same connector and works w/ the 7.7 (I know because i have a couple). You can get these on amazon for $15 right now. I believe this is the same dock for all the tabs and they just change the plastic piece that holds your tablet to accomodate the model (i have the original galaxy tab, the 7 Plus, and the 7.7 and they ALL work).
If you take it apart, the tablet connector looks exactly like what you are looking for - an L shaped 30-pin. The profile when plugged in is very thin and looks less like when you have the actual car charger cable plugged directly into the tablet.
I've attached a picture of what the cable end looks like. The nice thing is if you keep all the electronics intact, there is an area in the back that the car charger cable connects to pass power to this cable as well as a 3.5 jack for your auxiliary audio connector. Once you lop off the plastic tablet holder part, you have a bare ribbon cable that you can cover in black electrical tape and you just have to mount the pod onto the back of a hard tablet mount and plug your power and auxiliary audio cable into it.
Dear rEVOLVE
i liked your idea the most and i already ordered the dock, but i have a question, my ordered dock has HDMI output as well, so can i do some electronic modification Like this DIY USB OTG cable to connect USB hub to it in the same time as well, so finally i got i charging 30pin port, auxiliary 3.5 audio port, HDMI port, and USB port???
thank you
hi
I need some of help with power plug for galaxy tab
look at this http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1931227&p=-1&#bottom
anybody got any ideas?
So this is a strange issue... The plastic piece in the center of the dock/power connector had broken out of my Prime, but I was able to super-glue it back in carefully. Some of the pins were messed up a little bit, but I was able to charge it. It did not work in the dock, however. So I bought a new connector w/ribbon cable on Ebay and replaced the messed up one, but it still will not recognize the dock. It charges fine and connects to my computer correctly, though. I know there is nothing wrong with the dock as it works fine with my wife's Prime. Both Primes are running the Energy ported TF300 version of 4.2.1, but the dock was working fine with my tablet on this ROM before the connector broke so I don't think it has anything to do with it.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks!

Looking to sell my Gtablet with dock and folio case. I bought it during one of the Woot sales a few years back and recently got a Nexus 7, so this doesn't get much use anymore.
Comes with:
original box and documentation
USB cable and AC power adapter
FUSE brown folio case (bought from electroniccrap.com)
Malata Z-Pad docking station (in box)
I bought the dock when i starting having intermittent issues with charging. I suspect that there is a loose connection in the power port which is a common problem, but charges fine on the dock.
The unit does have the reset hole drilled in the back and covered with tape as I had tried out the DRH rom and had to use the reset a few times before moving to another JB rom. No screen blemishes at all, a few light scratches and wear scuffs on the back panel.
I've got a CyanogenMod ROM on it now (Android 4.1.2 Sm0other_Bean 1.5) and was using it for streaming media and accessing my recipe collection in Evernote. The wired ethernet connection and HDMI on the dock works with this ROM.
I'd like to get $150 for all of it and i will ship within the US. I can also offer pictures of the tablet, case and dock in use if requested.
Thanks for looking...
