You have to flash fxp kernel located in the file you downloaded (boot.img)make sure that you unlock your bootloader

Broken USB. Can I get ICS roms or CWM5? I am on xRecovery 0.3

I only have xrecovery 0.3 and my USB is broken. Is there a way for me to get CWM5 or try out an ICS rom?
If you find a zip for either you can try flashing from x recovery. I flashed CWM using xrecovery but don't remember what version.
I have a Canadian xperia x10 with stock 2.3.3 with no fps cap

No, you would need the usb to unlock the bootloader and flash the fxp kernel for the ICS rom to work.

[Q] How to flash official ICS Im running now custom rom ?

Im using custom rom miui v4 in expeacer.. what should I do now? should I flash directly in flashtool now? or should I get back to .62 ftf? help me please
Well I'm not an expert or anything but I think that u can flash the ftf file whatever the Rom that u have. Anyone can second that?
The ftf contains the system+kernel. I think that it will work if u flash from custom rom

[Q] Back to Stock ROM

Hello all
I am on a SK17i with a custom ROM and custom Kernel.
I want to go back to the stock ROM and I have the FTF file for that and I'll be using the flash tool.
My question is:
do I have to flash the stock kernel first? and if yes where to find it?
or will the ftf file flash the proper Kernel automatically?
is there any specific Steps before I start?
Thanks

You don't need to be running stock ICS to flash CM 9.1 .But you have to do a full wipe before flashing CM 9.1. And yes you definitely have to flash the kernel of CM 9.1.
All you need is a custom recovery to flash whatever version of Android that's available for your phone. You don't need to be running a stock version prior to it. And you need to flash the CM9.1 kernel before flashing the ROM. Kernels get flashed along with the ROM usually, but some phones need the kernel to be flashed separately due to partially unlockable bootloaders. When the bootloader is fully unlocked, the boot.img can be flashed to the /boot partition in recovery itself. But for phones with only partially unlockable bootloaders, the boot.img has to be flashed separately using a computer.
Thanx for the reply..... I have an u locked boot loader but i guess in Xperia devices kernel cant be flashed with Cwm recovery.......

If you're trying to flash a stock ROM, then you'll need flashtool. That's the only way. But, if you have CWM installed, then you could download ROMs like No Sh*t or Terrarom which is stock based but standalone [doesn't require install of stock ROM].
You can then install CM9 by flashing the kernel through fastboot and then installing it over NS or Terrarom.
