[Q] Send location / directions to someone? - Nokia Lumia 800

Is there any way to send your current gps location or directions to your gps locaton to someone?
I used to be able to this on my Galaxy Note but I can't seem to find a way on the Lumia.
If you drop a pin on, say, Caring Cross Road, in Maps and click it and choose send via text or email, the email just says something like "checkout Charing Cross Road" and not contain map reference to your exact location!
Is there any way to do these things?

I'm using Whatsapp to send my location. Also there are some Apps that use Google Latitude gMaps is one of them. Also with gMaps you can share the exact coordinates if you prefer this way of sharing.

There is an app echoecho available in the marketplace. I've never used it, but it seems to be made exactly for this job...

[APP] My Position - send your position to others

Hi
With My Position it is possible to se actual GPS information via the phones built in GPS and send the position to others via sms or email.
When sending the position via sms or email it is possible to enter a telephone number or email address. It is also possible to select a contact from the contact list.
Sending the position is possible in three diffirent ways.
1) As coordinates which can be inserted directly in Google Earth or Google Maps.
2) As a link to Google Static Maps. When the receiver opens the link the phones default web browser connects to the internet and shows the position on a map in 400x400 pixel resolution.
3) As a link to Google Maps. This option is mostly suitable when sending the position via email.
It is also possible to see ones own position on a map where Google Static Map is being used. The phones default web browser will open and connect to the internet and shows the position on a map in 400x400 pixel resolution.
This is a very good function when you are in a big city with many streets.
There is also a sos function which sends the position and a message of help. Again it is possible to send via sms or email.
The application is developed on a HTC Touch Diamond 2 with Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro. Maybe the aplication can be used on other WM 6.1 phones but that have not been tested.
The application requires .NET Compact Framework 3.5 which can be found here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2ZGV1DNJ (to HTC TD2).
When the application is installed it can be found in Start --> All --> My Position by using TouchFLO.
Everyone is welcome to express theirs opinion about the program, cons, pluses etc.
Last I want to tell that installation is ones own responsibility.

A couple of problems
This app is so close to what I want but it has a few problems.
When selecting a contact to send to, it adds a right paren ")" to the email address or phone number. It also includes this person's name when sending an SMS message. This causes the email to bounce and the phone number to be invalid for an SMS message.
When sending a message with a Google Maps link it would be nice to be able to select which language to use for Google Maps. I would like the english version.
Does anyone know of another app with similar functionality?
3/7 update, I found this app, GPSLocation and am using it instead.

[Q] Location field in calendar app

I previously had a Milestone and in the calendar app there any address I entered into the location field would be clickable and offer an option to open maps or navigate to it. In the samsung app I can add a location but it is not clickable. I have seen that you can open the map from the edit screen but this seems only to let you get a single map image rather than giving full functionality. Is there a setting somewhere I am missing?
Edit: I tried installing Jorte calendar and that has clickable address links working. When viewing the same event in both only Jorte allows me to click through.
Looking into this it seems the feature is simply missing from the samsung app rather than not activated and has been since the original galaxy. Is this something that can easily be modded?
I am needing this feature as well. When I had my captivate, stock did not have this but with the cognition rom it seemed to work. I don't know how it was modded to work. However, when I updated my captivate to the 2.2 stock firmware I897UCKB1, it had this feature. Now that I have a SGS2 its very disappointing that it doesn't have this again. I use the Clickable address location in calendar every day to get to appointments. It is so frustrating to have to open the appointment, edit the appointment, copy the address from location, hit home, open maps, hit search, paste the address, and hit search again while driving. This could all be done with one click if the location was clickable. I am willing to donate $15 to anyone able to give a solution using the SGS2 stock calendar app. Thanks.

Click to collapse
The best i could think of is to do a search of the location before hand copy then copy the link to the description part on the calender entry. Also add the location snapshot (this is just a picture as you might have aready noticed). Now when the appointment pops up, just click the link(set it up to open with maps). This way you can getting the navigation running from the appointment itself.
add another one to the list of people who really need this feature.
i have just come from a year with a htc desire and its something i really miss.
This is a silly oversight. Something that other apps on the market implement without issue. I'm disappointed!

Which app for manage client?

Hi,
a friend of mine bought a few days ago a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" to manage his clients (he's a doctor).
He started to build his contact library (he doesn't have an android phone and no gmail contacts) adding name, surname, eventually mail and phone number and in the "Note" field he wrote all the note he'd taken. BUT this field has a characters' limit, and he can't add even a letter anymore (for the most visited client of course).
I tried to search for an app for this purpose but I can't find anything. I don't even search ONLY an app, it can be enough another method using the in-build feature of the tablet and android.
I searched for some CRM app, but most of them are ugly (since it's not a power user the more simple and clean is the better) and not optimized for a tablet. I found Insightly, but it's only online, and if he does'nt have a wifi network around he can't, not only record the new data, but also access to the old ones! They MUST be always available.
I thought about a simple folder + text file in G Drive, but these are only online too. Dropbox, too.
If it can interact with the G Mail contacts (the Note field is very useful at this) it would be wonderful, otherwise he'll build up his library with his contacts.
How can I do to have these data always on the tablet (cloud sync is not absolutely necessary)??? Any idea for an app or an alternative method?
Thanks!
nobody??
He bought a tablet to use for work, without any idea on how he would use it for work or if it would even do what he wanted? If he throws money around like that, why not recommend him to get an app written for his company and it's needs. There are many app developers who design and write custom apps for clients.

Adding Locations in Maps

Was wondering if anyone knew how to add new places to Maps. I some how have work and Home in my phone as locations that I can use in Calendar events which works great with Google Now but I want to add school and my friends house so on and so forth. Problem is I cannot for the life of me figure out how I added the other two? Does anyone know how to save locations in the Maps app and name them in order to get Google now to give me transportation suggestions and bus times? Answers much appreciated
Home and Work are the only two locations able to be set in the app like that.
You can I the browser however make custom locations that your app will see and allow you to use in G.N.
Well that kinda sucks lol.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Log into google maps in your browser and create starred locations and they will be picked up in Maps

Latest google maps doesn't show exact location?

Hi all,
Previously if you sent your location to someone (ie. through whatsapp) and you viewed that location it would be the exact location that was sent. But now after the update it seems to show you the closest POI. For example, I'm at a large park and send the location of where our group is to someone who just arrived. When the view the location in the latest maps it shows the the main point of the park, not the location I sent them. Makes finding your car in the parking lot difficult also.
Is there any setting (which I couldn't find) that will make it show the exact location again? For now I've just uninstalled the update.
Edit: I'm trying to display a PIN at specific coordinates on the map but instead it shows the closest POI or street
Thanks.
