Hi,
Yesterday I bricked my SGSII when flashing Siyahkernel (see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25204237&posted=1#post25204237)
There are many more users who bricked their device lately using Siyahkernel SiyahKernel v3.1rc6.
The problem is: returning to the stock Samsung rom is impossible because the /data cannot be written to.
I cannot flash the rom package because at the end the installation Odin hangs when the datafs is flashed, I can wait for an hour or so, and the installationproces does not proceed.
This is what Odin reports:
<ID:0/003> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/003> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/003> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/003> boot.bin
<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/003> Sbl.bin
<ID:0/003> param.lfs
<ID:0/003> zImage
<ID:0/003> factoryfs.img
<ID:0/003> data.img
SO, when flashing data the installation stops. Same in CWM, when flashing a rom.
PIT - PHONE -BOOTLOADER -KERNEL: they all can be flashed. It is just in the last minute that /data cannot be written to. And afterwards, the SGSII is stuck on the boot logo.
Now my question: could the internal SD-card be repartioned of be formatted? Does anyone know how? That might solve the problem.
or do I just have to jtag the device? I cannot reset the counter either, because I cannot boot the rom.
I would be willing to pay for the solution, as I think many more users would be prepaired to do. I have counted at least 10 bricked devices ON XDA developers since saturday.
you need a pit file for repartition to work.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19319086/u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit
Exactly the same problem for me... I tried flashing some stock roms but the phone always hangs on data.img with 3-file-fw (+ .pit file) or stays in bootloop with 1-file-fw.
The only way to enter recovery is rogue recovery (cf-root doesn't work for me) but internal storage can't be mounted.
Is there any known solution or I'll have to send my phone to Samsung?
Try it with the original USB cable

Hi, after trying out some custom roms like CM9-10 and Omega my phone suddenly started rebooting. It lets me enter the PIN and starts up but after a qouple of seconds it reboots again.
The wierd part is that it autostarts after I insert the battery, but I can enter both CWM and Download mode.
I have tried enter CWM and do a wipe but phone reboots in the middle of the process, same goes when trying to flash CM9 or any other rom I have on the internal SD.
I have also tried following a Swedish guide to restore it to stock using Odin, but after adding the PDA and pressing start I get a Fail in Odin to, something about NAND write fails.
Does anyone have a solution for me? Should I tick re-partition or do something other in Odin?
I would suggest boot into recovery. Wipe Dalvik cache. Flash Rom. Wipe both caches. reboot.

Do you have international galaxy s3 (gt-i9300)?

Well I think so, it was sold in Sweden.
The problem is that it reboots doing most of the actions in CWM, I think I have managed to wipe Dalvik but as soon as I try to install a rom it just reboots.
I also tried rooting again using Odin 1.85 but it fails with that version too.

If all else fails get yourself a S3 USB Jig. I bought one, funnily enough it arrived today from Hong Kong and it only cost something like 2,50€ delivered free. Then install a stock rom.

If your Nand is corrupt i dont think you can get out of it......99 percent of the time if you can get into download mode your good. but if you having Nand Write issues, i dont know if there is a coming back from that.
hope thats not the case and another member can shed some better light on the subject.
Nand. See posts regarding. PIT today.

Could you post a link to that thread? I found this one and have tried flashing some of the PIT-files but it does not work. Or should I flash some other files at the same time?
Ok, following one guide witch seams to fix my problem is that I need a 3-part firmware. Every Firmware I have downloaded contains:
boot, cache, hidden, modem, recovery, system -if I extract them one extra time. Is that right? Where should I load them in odin in that case? If not could anyone direct me to a download-page for 3-part firmwares? (I downloaded the last one from samfirmware.com)
It is very strange that the core functions kind of work as I can boot normaly into the system and even run an app if I am fast, then reboot.
Downloadmode works untill I try to flash something.
CWM works until I try to do a Wipe or flash a rom, I can wipe dalvik and some other stuff, but not cache, data and some other. I noticed that You could partition sdcard from CWM should I try that? and if so what should i select in the next screen about partition size?
Recently i got a notification for OTA firmware for my I9100G. I guess it was JB update. After the update phone refused to start, it went into boot loop. I am trying to flash the stock rom ICS for India (I9100GXXLPQ_I9100GODDLP7_I9100GDDLP5_HOME.tar.md5) using Odin .
1. Initially I tried to flash custom ICS Kernel (SuperICS_i9100g_v1.0.2.tar) , then tried to wipe cache and wipe data/factory reset and wipe Dalvik cache. It says error mounting /sdcard/android.secure! .
2. After that I tried to flash the Stock firmware mentioned above after going into download mode but Odin fails every time after factoryfs.img or hidden.img

Tried different stock firmwares and custom Kernels for GB,ICS and JB (all for G versions) , different USB ports, different ODIN versions too! Nothing helped
Also I disable Kies everytime while attempting to flash the firmware.
Phone is soft bricked.
Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

First of all READ. As everybody is saying Ok first question, when You go download mode can you see model name - 9300GT ? If so that means everygthing is solveable.
Next you have messed something and You need to step by step check it. If You want to still work on CM11 you need to flash CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4 to make sure that on the level of recovery everything is ok.

Than try to flash again Your ROM. We will see where this will bring You.
Thx for reply. So i can see model name in download mode GT-9300 and as you said i try to flash that kernel...

When I used to be having such problem I was trying to chaoticlly flash everything. Now I can say that this was stupid. Every sytuation is diffrent but some are simmiliar.
Try this topic at least You will be having stock rom with fully func. S3 If it helps you than you will go with Custom ROM otherwise>>> Root and than ROM.

If this will not solve the problem we will see other oppurtunities.
I cannot flash anything with odin.. when i try so odin stays forever like this:

Well i had soft bricked s2 before and it was easly repeired by flashing stock rom via odin. But now its diffrent, only thing i can enter is download mode(odin mode), when i try flash stock rom odin stops on cache.img, when trying to flash cwm it stops on NAND write starts. I tried this with all odins i found, also tried diffrent roms. kernels but its same. Also if i try to flash kernel flash count gets bigger and if i try to flash tom it stays the same :/
doing 3 step flash(from odin troubleshoot ):

update: tried to flash counter reset and it seems it worked, so its not odin problem:/
Is there someone who can help me?
Oh yeah! I had the same problem with my SGS plus, everybody told me that i could only repair it with odin, but i brought my device in Samsung Assistence and they repair my device with warrantly ( i had Cwm recovery and root permissions ) so if you can bring your device in samsung assistence and say:"within i update my device at 4.1.2 jb with kies, my pc turned off" they probably will ask you ( if u dont have warrantly) max 50 $ ( in my country 25€ for update a device )
REMEMBER TOUCHWIZ IS DEAD, CYANOGENMOD IS THE FUTURE, AND THE FUTURE IS NOW
have you by any chance did a factory reset in stock 4.0.4 ? if so you might have hit the " superbrick " which kills the internal memory . then there is no internal memory to write to .
What was the last working state and what did you do that became to this ?
i had 4.4.2 omni rom after that tried factory reset :/
well my warranty is long time gone, but i have heard that samsung has given 5years warranty for all samsung mobiles or so,
Good days to everyone!
I've got a situation with my GT-N7100. It doesn't seem to get past the first logo during boot-up, ever.
I've tried the newest MD5 version for that model. "N7100UBUEND1_N7100TCEEND1_N7100UBUEND1_HOME.tar.m d5"
Used the PIT file to Re-Partition and several versions of Odin.
With the PIT file, only version V3.07 hangs at, "Get PIT for mapping..", all other versions seem to fail.
Pit File used: Q1_20110914_16GB.pit
Without the file I get: (Using the tar.md5 packet with V3.07 Odin)
<ID:0/004> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/004> tz.img
<ID:0/004> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/004> FAIL!

<ID:0/003> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/003> FAIL!
<ID:0/003>
<ID:0/003> Re-Partition operation failed.
The phone will not go into recovery mode, the only thing I can get it to do is enter download mode.
How this started? Holding the phone, looking at it. It reset itself and never came back.
I disabled my Anti-Virus... Not sure what else to try. Thank you very much in advance!
***UPDATE*** (I was able to enter recovery mode but it seems to fail to mount anything.)
***UPDATE*** (At wits end, not sure what else to try. I'm thinking the NAND has become corrupt and or unrecoverable. Or unless there was a way to, similar to PC's, do a chkdsk repair. At this time i'm downloading the toolkit and attempt anything through ADB, I feel there is nothing more I could do to Un-Brick the phone. I read about Soft/hard Brick, the phone seems to be Soft Bricked but nothing is allowing me to repair/recover through any download method. Booting into recovery fails to mount everything [as seen in pics].)

I'd try to install a custom recovery and use that to install new software to see if you can get booted. If the custom recovery can't mount anything, then that might tell us more about what's going on.

Thanks for your response! I am not sure where to find a custom recovery or how I would apply that to the phone. Debugging isnt enabled and I cannot enable it as its stuck in boot. Over half of the features wont work in ADB mode, due to debugging not enabled.

Just have to get to Download Mode and use Odin to install the custom recovery. Has nothing to do with USB Debugging.

Sounds like you might have messed it up from flashing that older Pit file, which might have been Gingerbread or early ICS, being that it's from 2011...
You realize that there is a whole sub forum here devoted to your phone, right? It seems like you haven't tried to do much research here.
