I have the exact opposite problem as another member on here. When I set my wifi sleep policy to never leave wifi on when the screen is off it never turns it off, even if I let it sit for awhile. Anyone have an idea what could be causing this? I may have to do a factory reset.
Ok, thursday I was using my tab like normal, I turned off wifi to conserve battery. Nothing happened to it, I came back a few minutes later, and turned wifi on, it said " wifi turning on" but it would never come on. I rebooted, but it said the same thing upon reboot. After trying for several hours, I finally reset it to factory, but the same thing came up after factory reset. In fact, I reset it 3-4 times, and it still is lock in "turning on wifi". Let the battery drain completely, same thing. think the antenna could have come loose? any other ideas? I am about ready to send it to squaretrade. Thanks for any ideas.
I had a similar issue when I couldn't get out of airplane mode. Try enabling airplane mode and turning on Wifi without disabling airplane mode. If that doesn't work I guess your only option would be to take it to SquareTrade.
Had the same issue...didn't want to connect....Not sure what cured it, but after numerous tries, it finally connected and I haven't seen the issue since. I remember activating different things, including apps....and something made it kick in.
Sorry i didn't document it.
Hi all, I bought my S3 last june in Italy. No problems at all ... until today.
This morning I left it on the table and after 5 minutes I saw it was turned on asking for the PIN code. I typed it, but after 5 minutes again I found it ... I supposed turned off. But then I couldn't tourn it on anymore. I tried to reset it keeping pressed the on/off button but nothing. I removed the battery and inserted it again after a minute but nothing. I keeped the battery out the phone for an hour, then inserted it again and the phone turned on.
All seemed ok, but then after 1 hour I found the phone stuck again: black screen, it seemed turned off but no button worked: reset, on/off ... Again: 30 minutes without battery then I could turn it on.
I'm not sure, but I suppose it hangs when going in stand-by. I tried to keep it on and it didn't hang for 1 hour. Then I backed up all my apps and data, tried to recover to factory default buuut ... it turned off but never tourned on, same problem as before ...
I suppose this should be important: I never rooted or modified the phone, it still i as I bought it.
UPDATE: it seems it can't reboot. If I try to rebbot while in AndroidOS the phone shut down but never turn on again (as described above) and then again take off the battery, wait minutes and so on. But even in recovery, where I tried to wipe cache e data/factory reset, if I choose reboot system, as before the phone shut down and ... same procedure again. I don't think it could be a software issue ...
Something about battery? But how could I check it out?
Any idea? Thank you all in advance.

I had thus exact same problem on my T-Mobile Galaxy S II. Something with the ROM and kernel that I flashed were clashing so I flashed another ROM. Try going into recovery mode if you can. I don't have an internationalS III but if you have flashed a recovery, then hold the volume buttons before you turn it on and continue to hold them until you get into recovery mode.

Dont know didn't find any info in your text about battery charge or plugging in power socket and try after 10 mins to boot the phone.
First of all than you.
A little update: it is definitely not a battery problem since I tried another battery but the problem was there again.
Moreover, I never changed the firmware or the modem and I never rooted it since I can't try another ROM, even if I would, it is not in the "state" to be rooted.
Soooo ... mother board?
Today I ran out of battery ( I plugged the charger when the phone was at 2%, but it froze). I turned it off, and the battery charging screen showed up. Let it charge for a little while, tried turning it on, then froze at Samsung screen. If I turn it off it, turns back on and freezes at the same point, and thus a bootloop.
I can enter recovery and it says that battery is at 20%. What's wrong?
I went into recovery again and it says 37% now even the battery charging screen drawing looks like it's good way less!
just let it juice up for 5 hours.

Nevermind, it was a coincidence with this damn LS8 bootloop bug: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2126442
factory reset then.

yup, it was fixed by doing that. I'm charging it to 100% and going back to LSJ, I'm done with LASS8.
always leave wifi on over night. woke up and wifi and blue tooth dead. bluetooth turns on then turns off 2 seconds later. wifi hangs the phone and forever stays turning on wifi.
then i searched for att update and there was one little over 600mb. to bad i couldnt download it without wifi.
reset phone several times and restored to factory a few times and would never change. Reset the phone to factory final time before shipping and bluetooth actually turned on and worked. Wifi still dead
any history or this issue?
I had the phone for a whooping 2 months. I miss it. on a sony for now
Having The same issue with WIFI
