Hi all, first sorry for my english.
I doing my first mod ROM for HTC Desire Bravo using the Android Kitchen by dsixda, I add /data/app functionality and add apps2sd but when I install some apps from market or .apk from sd, I see which this apps install in the internal memory and this provoque the low space notification in internal memory and I got to move apps to SD. Well this OK, but, for example if I move SetCPU from internal memory to SD, after I can't use the widget of SetCPU.
Well, I want know how can I do an script or how configure the app2sd to does when I install some apps, directly this instal automaticaly in the ext3/ext4.
Apologize for my english.
Ty all, bye.

well first of all you will need t partition your sd card. i would recomend 1024MB and a 32-64 Swap
I have got ext4 partition but not swap. when I install so much apps and I have less than 14mb Android notify me what I have low memory but if I keep instilling apps, they install automatically in sd ext
Tapatalk 2 rlz
I'm not sure what else to do because I don't have a partitioned SD card. The last time I attempted to partition, I was buying a new SD card.
I think you need to download data2sd app from the market.
Well, thank you for reply. I think I solve this problem, look, problem are in what when I'm add Apps2SD from kitchen this provoke an interference with rest of native a2sd (from CM7). Now, I don't add Apps2SD from kitchen and add a little tweak and I haven't got the low memory notification everytime i want install a app, but if i install so much apps (more than 30) I have got the notification, but I think which some more tweaks I can solve this problem.
Thank you and apologize for my english.
Hi!
You should install a2sd and Opel CMD on pc or terminal on handset move apps to partition, sr my English very bad (

[Script][A2SD] Darktremor Apps2SD 2.7.5.3 Beta 04 (01/29/2011)
[Q] Apps2SD on a custom ROM
Hmmm interesting, but seems way too much of a hassle . Primarily I just wanted to move Yahoo messenger which occupies quite a lot of space and maybe Chess elite which again is rooted ( literally speaking ) into the internal memory . This makes me sucha a sad panda
For that I just use move2sd enabler or apps2sd froyo. They're in the market

It will not force move apps like Yahoo mess , or chess elite unfortunately . Seems like I'm stuck with a pretty limited phone memory
If you like having everything on the SD card, you can use ROMs that come with dalvik2sd and darktremor apps2sd That is, if you like that. I personally don't prefer those though. As long as I have more than 50MB of free internal space, there's nothing to worry about.
I have lots of apps installed on my optimus one.
Some on SD and some on phone.
If I go for this mod, do I have to install all the apps on the SD card again as those would be deleted?
No idea. I tried flashing Light ROM(i added darktremor for my personal use and testing) without wiping anything, and darktremor apps2sd doesn't seem to work. To me, this looks like wiping everything then flashing. In short, complete reinstallation.
I'm not sure though. Maybe I just haven't given it enough time.
Try move2sd enabler.
Try links2sd from Gt540 forums. As far as I know it need some work with some kernels. For sure works with Mik_os kernel (1.0) Backup all content of SD card before ext partitioning.
i have installed app2sd in market free but there are some app only install in phone memory, how to move them into sdcard
you can try via adb:
adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2

You can try that too. It won't be picky since it will create symbolic links from /data/app to your SDcard's ext partition. I yet have to try this, but this method seems to be easy, plus there's a GUI (app) for it.
I'm not sure if this works with the stock kernel, but flashing something else should be easy
apps2sd with stock rom
Anyone here tried installing darktremor's apps2sd?
I can't seem to get it to work. It just loops in the bootup animation.
Hi all,
I had installed a long time the cyanogem mod mincm6, now in version 3.01, but now i have a problem.
When i go to manage application, for example "adobe reader" with 5.54MB, and click in button "move to sd-card" show me the message error "Failed to move application. There is not enough storage left".
But i have 1.4GB of the extend type ext2 partitioned.
And no way wich i have 1.4GB of the application.
Have any application that manager this partition ?
PS: I dont have application app2sd, i use the native app2sd of the cyanogem.
PS2: I find this in FAQ, but i have 8.33GB free in sd card, and no way that have used 1.4GB in application in ext 2 partition...
I CAN'T MOVE APPS TO SD, WHY?
Can't move apps to SD?? -> Format SD Card or delete hidden folders on SD Card
Make sure you have 'Allow application moving' checked in settings>cyanogenmod settings>application settings

But i have moved only 20MB and show me same message "Failed to move application. There is not enough storage left".
Have any file controlled for the app2sd, have any folder or something that causing this error ?
Ty a lot for any response.

First its in the faq, anyway delete ext2 partition not needed.
Second delete hidden folders on sdcard with root explorer (make backup) or format enitrely. Reboot
Some apps will need to be reinstalled.

nop .... Nothing.... Same error.....
Guys,
I think that the app2sd is moving the files to a partition that he created or thought or whatever, Not have explanation to it move less than 20MB and already say that the disk is full (9.73GB free ) .
Well, am I computer programmer and i programer in C / C + + too, i am developing for Android, and digging in to the internet to see if he has C code that "program", to see where is the problem.
The App2sd is not saving in SD. This is so real, that I searched on the SD the app that I sent to SD , "adobe", and not finding this "adobe" in anywhere.
Maybe some configuration file for app2sd, or whatever ... I found that app2sd uses /sd-ext, but not found anything with the root explorer, and windows not show the internal memory.
Also not found the link it to SD, alias, where is it? Anyone know? or anyone know how the shortcuts from the drawer? So I thought misinformation.
Guys, sorry for the outburst, but I want to see if I fix this as soon as I have many applications, very heavy, and to almost no memory.
PS: I Founded some information..... the froyo a2sd save in a folder named .android_secure, that only be showed in windows or another OS, the rootexplorer can't find file sin this folder. Well, after delete again this folder and others, i moved exactly 24MB and, after, the error was showed once again. This folder is not a partition, its only a single folder in a ocean of bytes, rsssss

Perhaps there's a limit to how much space you can use on the sd-card and if so, maybe you can find answers/help in another thread to how to make more space available (devs forum i guess)
Ty again.... This is exactly what i need.... Know how much space i have in 9.73GB for app2sd and where i can configure this....
But i not found in anywhere in the internet... i stay searching....
att,
moacir jr.
I'm having the same problem. To help you analyze it, install Titanium Backup Root. When you open the app you see the space left in:
-system
-data
-app2sd sd
-sd
I never understood why there is a difference between "app2sd" and everything else on the sd. And I don't know how to make the "app2sd" part bigger.
Ty Samuel,
Well,
System ROM: 22.1 MB Free
Internal: 113 MB Free
SD Card: 10.2 GB Free
But i think that same that app2sd uses Internal memory for cache or Ram memory, that have around 20 MB free, have space to move one application of the 3MB...
In this case, i need how much app2sd uses to move application on SD card.
Its very very stranger...
At,
Moacir Jr.
Huh that's strange.
I uninstalled Titianium Backup a while ago, I only knew that in v2.5 I always noticed that difference.
Well in v3.03 I don't see the app2sd part anymore. I have the same parts as you.
I'll test a little bit more and I'll let you know when I discover why "sd" and "app2sd" is not the same.
Well,
Guys, since as not working for me the a2sd with cyanogen, have any troble if i install and use link2sd with cyanogen 3.03 ? I question why i used lin2sd wich android 2.1 from SE, and works just fine....
Question responded: Link2sd Works fine. If any1 have any problem with a2sd, and can't solve, simple, change to link2sd.

Hi,
I had HTC Desire before Android Froyo has been released and those days was said need to some hacks (think after root?) to move apps from internal memory to SD card. Also was said Google will add this feature to later Android versions natively.
I've searched on the forum and found some topics but still have below questions:
from which android version does it support App2SD exactly? Is there any improvement for native App2SD in later versions? (i.e gingerbread toward froyo)
Does this feature remain in all other Android versions that come later?
According to this post there are 3 kind of App2SD: Froyo A2SD, Legacy A2SD, Legacy A2SD+ ; while that post was for September 2010 is there any change in this manifest? which one is better?
I read costume ROMs need to be compatible with App2SD so we can enable it on them. Is it enough that a ROM has App2SD compatibility/feature or we need do some works and/or install apps to use App2SD on the phone?
I saw different apps and tricks to move apps like these:
Moving ANY app to SD on FroYo (or how to Enable all grayed out 'Move to SD' buttons)
[APP][Froyo][root] Move2SD Enabler - ex SetInstallLocation
[App] Link2SD
What's the comprehensive App2SD app yet? Should we install an app for this purpose ever?
As 'bakpinar' said in this post:

Because I don't want to move my launcher, soft keyboard and dialer application to SD and make them unavaliable on boot if my SD card has problem or not inserted.
In order to resolve this I developed an application called Link2SD.

It's not wise to move launcher, soft keyboard and dialer application to SD and make them unavaliable on boot if my SD card has problem or not inserted.
Now what if I am going to move all apps except these 3 mother app and don't want to select all new apps and current apps to move on SD card? any solution here?
Finally I have rooted HTC Desire HD with Android Revolution HD ROM.
Special Thanks for taking time to read this post.
Regards...
Any answer will be so appreciated and helpful

1. The official way to move applications to SD, as provided my the standard Android sources is part of Android 2.2 (Froyo)... I'm not sure if any modifications have been made afterwards.
2. You can now also move /data/data to SD with DarkTremor... that's about the only thing that has changed AFAIK. Better is a relative term. DarkTremor (which is the new name for the "hackish" A2SD method, to avoid confusion with Android's own support) moves more data, but it requires a special partition and is generally a LOT more fragile. However it does move more data to the SD card, leaving more internal memory available. I've tried DarkTremor and was not satisfied with the stability, but different people may come up with different results here.
3. You need a script like DarkTremor to actually do the dirty work. Prepared only means that the ROM will mount the partition, but nothing more.
4. a)/b) this still uses the native Froyo method, it just overrides the do-not-move flag. It is VERY stable.
4. c) this is a special flavor of the DarkTremor method that instead moves individual applications, but otherwise comes with the same (dis)advantages.
5. You'd still use "4. c)"... that's just a slight UI difference. The difference is that standard DarkTremor makes it impossible to let anything remain in internal memory.
Thanks soooo mauch.
I'd wish I could press thank button more than 1 time
So the most comprehensive method is DarkTremor still now? But to make some mother apps available even when there isn't SD card too, we should use Link2sd app. Did I get it true?
No problem.
Basically yes... but I've never tried Link2sd, so I can't comment on how well the application itself works...
Thanks again.
Hello,
today i wanted to install a new sd-card with higher transfer-class in my minipro.
Because of using stock-rom before some days I had an ext2-partition on the old sd-card and all apps where located there.
Now I'm using miniCM7 Pro v10 and so I decided to move all apps to sd-partition, then make a full copy of the old sd-partition to the new sd-card and then copy some system-apps like launcher back to the internal memory of my phone because of performance.
Until partition-copy at PC everything worked fine. But now I can't move the system-apps back to system-memory. App2SD says it's not possible because there is not enough free memory.
But in internal memory are still 155Mb.
Where ist the problem?
I can't let the apps stay on sd-card. I can't use any of my widgets, launcher doesn't list them.

You don't need ext2 in this ROM, because it's native app2sd. format sd card, just with one pastisi and impossible to move the application system to the sd card.
That was the reason for me to do that what I did.
Before doing that all apps where on these ext2-partition as "past pollution" of the stock rom. But the new app2sd of custom rom thought the apps where on internal memory and couldn't notice that it was an external ext2-partition.
Thats why I copyed all installed apps (not the hole system) with app2sd to the sdcard-partition and so on.
Now the Problem is still there... I can't move apps from sdcard-partition to phone with app2sd...

check free memory in the system ROM with Titanium Backup.
Application systems and applications built ROM is here, if it,s full. deleting unused aplication or unnecessary aplication.
System-ROM: 18,8Mb free
Intern: 138Mb free
SD-Card: 3,2Gb free
An I thought Apps would be installed on "intern", isn't it?
Wherefore else is Intern?
this my favorite tricks for get more space internal memory, i installed 70 apps, and free memory is 41mb,. Simple and stable guys....
How to configure :
1- after installing a rom configure link2sd and choose link auto
2- install EVERY app on internal memory and after link, if some goes to sdcard move it to internal and after that you can create a link
3- sometimes i go to link2sd>menu button>more: relink all apk files, relink all lib files, link dalvik cache and clean dalvik cache
after you link a apk if want to see the real free space you'll need to reboot the phone... Link2sd is a great app i think thats better than int2ext scripts but you need to learn how to use correctly, with time you get it !!
Tried...but tired of this link2sd stuff...
I don't like at all link2sd. Cronmod Script is better :good:
i like link 2 sd..

Rhievaldo do you have to always install in internal first?
It put it on internal then link it and clear the space with link2sd. If you don't use many apps etc you should not even bother with link2sd in my opinion even tho its super easy to setup following instructions.

Yes, otherwise some apps with native App2SD support will be linked with android native A2SD method and uses more internal space.
If you put them to internal they will be moved with link2sd to sdext partition of sdcard after the app is installed.

I have a Galaxy Ace GT5839i which is rooted. I installed link2SD and have moved many of my apps to the second SD partition, but now several of the apps which require to write to the SD fail to work. For example the Sygic navigation app fails with "SD card access denied", when I try to open files in Dropbox I get "Storage full or unavailable", when I try to save a file from Ted, a simple text editor, I get "Can't use this folder because it isn't writeable". I have looked at the permissions of most files and subfolders in the SD both using file managers and from the command line (ls -l filename) and they appear to be writeable (most have rwxrwxrwx or rwxrwxr-x). How can I regain write functionality for my apps?
Chris
link2sd
I have used Link2sd for ages with different ROMs (currently CM-11 nightly jenkins) but now Link2sd only half works. dex files are initially linked but are named incorrectly and are regenerated on boot so if you delete them they come back to haunt you next time. If you don't delete them you run out of space fast. I tried making links to the links manually and it sort of worked but was fiddly as hell and in the end I found a new option.
Mounts2SD.
I admit it can lag the phone slightly and reboots are only successful every 1 in 5 times but eventually it will turn on and it will work and the space advantages of using it mean you can more or less install what you like.
I would like to say that what I said earlier about lag and reboots was correct at the time but I was running a very unstable rom but now with Mr Mardon's latest cm11 rom, which is far superior with a customised kernel, I have found that with Mounts2SD the phone boots up reliably now, and when I changed to a better i/o scheduler (zen) and badass controller there is hardly any discernible lag at all.
So a serious thumbs up for Mount2SD, which is excellent, thumbs down for Link2sd, which used to be good. It reminds me of back in the day when you could still use s2e, except this actually works without flopping over unexpectedly.
Mount2sd is like a magic wand waved over your phone while Link2sd is like a bad workman that sits chatting to you while drinking your tea all day then only gets half the job done, charges you double, then leaves a pile of bricks on your driveway.
