ics mhl and otg - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. Can someone help me out with a rom that i need please.
The problem i am having is that im not sure my cable is working.
I have searched and found out that the i9100xxlph has mhl and otg working but i cant get them to work.
Is there anyone that can confirm an ics rom that has both otg and mhl working?
Cheers
Steven

Oh and preferably a no wipe version as i dont have a cable for odin anymore.

In resurrection remix work mhl and otg, but you need a full wipe

I'm quite confident that you are wrong. Feel free to prove me wrong with evidence.
Also not sure why you bumped an old thread to post this as MHL and OTG work fine on pretty much all stock ICS ROMs.

Galaxy S2 Bluetooth Driver (Wiimote etc)

OK... Rooted my GS2 with CF-Root v5.0, flashed to CheckromRevoHD v4 and installed mods etc.
However, still can't connect any bluetooth gamepads (Wiimote/Sixaxis)? I can only assume I'm still using the Samsung Bluetooth driver?
Please could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
*Edit* Flashed kernel to DarkKnight 2.4.3 but it still says "no route to host" when I try to connect a Wiimote?

Anyone? I know it can be done. It's just I'm not sure which ROM/Kernel is needed??
I would have thought my current config would have worked?

Wiimote doesn't yet work with stock ROMs, but PS3 controllers work fine in combination with the Sixasis app on the market.

?? I'm not using a stock ROM though. I'm using CheckRom RevoHD v4.
I have seen numerous YouTube vids of folk using their GS 2's with a Wiimote. However, not sure which ROM? MIUI perhaps??

Kinda nitpicking, but fine, I should have said stock based ROM.
So from that you should be able to deduce information about non-stock based ROMs (AOSP).

Apologies if you thought I was being flippant... not my intention.
So which ROMS have a modified Bluetooth driver? I'm looking at MUIU & CM7.1, however, not sure if these are any better than what I already have? Also can I simply flash over the top from within CWM, without loosing all my settings etc?
Many thanks.

You can find information about CM7 in the Q&A thread in this very forum, and MIUI on its own site.

So the issue is the "stock" (Samsung based) bluetooth stack. It doesn't work with bluetooth controllers, including Wiimotes and (until somewhat recently) ps3 controllers.
However, the Sixaxis Controller had an update I think in November that employs a workaround that uses some kind of tunneling protocol to connect to ps3 controllers. (I have this app, which is paid, but does work on Samsung based ROMs) Wiimotes still do not work on any ROM that is using the Samsung bluetooth stack.
AOSP based ROMS, such as MIUI, CM7, or any ROM based on those, should be able to use both Wiimotes and ps3 controllers normally.

USB OTG Problems. Kernel? Rom? Adapter? What's wrong?

Hey everyone,
I am running Omega 7.0 ROM with the stock Kernel it came with (if it came with one... if not then I have stock Kernel).
I bought this adapter yesterday. It won't pick anything up. Do you have to get a OTG type of adapter or should this have worked? Is it the ROM or the Kernel? Anyone know?
Ask in the rom thread , Try a different kernel .

Yeah I did, a lot of people say OTG should be working, OTG isn't working for them, or they don't know.
Pretty much mixed answers. So I didn't think it was the ROM. It might be the adapter.
I have Omega V7 and otg works perfectly with my adapter.

Yeah it's the adapter. You need one that specifys otg as a feature
Alright thanks. Didn't know it had to be OTG labaled.

HML HDMI out working with ROMS

Which roms (Preferably ICS or JB)work with an MHL HDMI out adapter, I currently have Dark Glass ONE 0.4 CM10 ROM installed but it doesn't seem MHL is working :/
this is the same adapter im using

hmm im not sure if there's a list but you could always go directly to the threads of rom's you might want to flash and ask them directly to get a faster response.. and if its broken in a CM10 base rom then chances are it's most likely broken in other CM10 based roms.. (likely..) but anyways it'd be faster to go to the roms you might be interested in and ask directly

OTG Host mode

I've been searching for months now on this and had no luck. I'm running the s2 s959g ( straight talk model) which is similar to the i777 model, paranoid rom , and sti kernel. I've made my otg cable but I can't seem to find a kernel that supports it. Any suggestions?

I know Shostock supports it, and I am pretty sure Mr.Cook's will too. You need a Samsung based ROM for OTG. This will limit you to 4.1.2 ROMS I believe.

Well snap that's where I was going wrong. Didn't know it was limited to Samsung based Roms only. Really thought it was just something that had to do with the kernel thanks for that!

NuSenseSIX RC 2.5 MHL is not working.

I don't have the rights to post in ROM thread, so i leave it here. MHL connection is not working in NuSenseSIX RC 2.5. In earlier versions I haven't tried. May be this problem is in its kernel.

Come to think of it. It could. Go to my FlyKernel thread. Flash the insecure kernel and see if that fixes your problem.

Yes, it works on stock unsecured kernel from your kernel thread.
So, also I tried to see how it works on FlyKernel 1.0 and found, that if i plug in mhl adapter (already plugged in TV) into the phone when HDMI input in TV is not selected, it hangs the One and only adb reboot helps in that case. On FlyKernel 2.0 there is same issue. But when I choose HDMI on TV first and only after that connect the phone MHL output works normal.
And there are no such issues on your stock unsecured kernel. It shows that mhl connected when i choose hdmi input on TV and just shows nothing when i choose TV input. No freezes.
yes i tested and it works on 2.1 Well...
