Not me!!!
i was gonna update to the new ics roms, but i had to first downgrade my bootloader so i can s-off... for some reason After I downdraded, and ran revolutionary, it messed up my flash to boost... now i cant get the phone to activate!
Yes I'm EVO 3D HBOOT 1.5 rooted now with S-OFF. I'm on Boost Mobile also. I did the wire trick to get S-OFF and YES this will restore the phone to the original settings. YOU WILL LOSE THE FLASH TO BOOST. Therefore, I lost my BoostMobile flash and had to go through all of that exercise again. Not fun. I wish I had known this in advance as I would not have bothered with getting S-OFF. I did this because I heard you cannot use ICS ROMs with S-ON. Well now that I have S-OFF I was able to get Mean ROM to install but it appears to be loaded with Sprint Bloatware so I didn't want it. I tried the latest Viper Rom hoping it would be better and I'm not able to get past the HTC screen after it is installed. Therefore I'm still on GingerBread using Eternity Infected ROM 1.4.2. I tried upgrading to Infected ROM 2.0 but it had problems everytime so I'm still on Infected ROM 1.4.2. I also have not done any firmware updates so my Radio or baseband is still 97.10.0808

Brings Android 2.3.4, breaks any root exploits out there, new availability to unlock bootloader (although one person who tried having problems trying to flash custom recovery with unlock, also unlock doesn't give S-OFF), new radio, new pri, and a whole lot more. I suggest not taking the OTA and doing the revolutionary.io S-OFF method and then flashing one of the new 2.3.4 rooted ROMs in the Development section.
It has the updated version of Swype, which was the reason I upgraded.

Getting ready to sell my 3D and want to make sure that the buyer will be able to activate it on their account with no problems. I'm currently running the MIUI rom on my device and am assuming the best bet would be to put a stock rom on it for them to activate. I want to be able to keep the wireless tether options there for them but they also want to activate in a Sprint store. Any ideas on what the best bet would be to try to make the transaction go as smooth as possible?

Flash a stock rooted rom. In order to move service he will need to update the data profile and whatnot, which needs epst and ## codes. So aosp roms are not an option until service is moved

They are the codes sprint uses or gives you to use over the phone to set the phone up on your account... You need a sense based rom....Any idea why they are opposed to doing it over the phone....then it doesn'tchave to be stock...

Yep, that would prolly work, but they would have to be protective of the phone in the store or next thing you know they r hboot 1.5 no root.... With newest ota... Which has issues obtaining root with the HTC method... So I would be very specific with my request in store, however I would not even consider going in store I would simply call,

Since the phone is (probably) already s-off, upgrading to hboot 1.50 does not matter. I've done it multiple times. You can still downgrade hboot and /or flash whatever you want.

Issue was caused on the latest 2.17 update alot of folks even back on 2.08 would get to the unlock code bin apply to unlock the phone. It would say sucess but nothing would happen.. That was the one slight issue. All they needed to do was use the latest RUU exe to fix it. Re do the unlock part and they were good to go...
Most people don't know root and you'll have to explain it to them. Save the hassle, flash stock rom and and sell it.
Personal experience, I had a rooted 4g and it has trouble activating so I had to flash stock and activate it. We had to meet up twice. Don't limit your market by being more informed. If they wanted rooted they would do it themselves
This is kind of related to development, and still really important since those flashing Leak ROMs might not read the General section and not know if I posted this there. That is why I posted this here.
If you flashed any PG86IMG firmware zip for the Virgin Mobile leaks, you might not be able to go back.
EDIT: CHADS DOWNGRADE THREAD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1641461
NOTE: This is not specific to freeza's zip. Any firmware zip for the leaks is the same.
Why?
The leak firmware has a file, dzdata_4g.hdr, which no other official firmware has.
The only similar thing other leaks have is dzdata.img which has confirmed not working since people flashing 2.17 ruu (which has this) are still showing the Virgin Mobile banner and having problems.
Downgrading will leave you with the Virgin Mobile dzdata_4g.hdr.
TL;DR/easier to digest
Leak has dzdata_4g.hdr
No official firmware RUU does
Downgrading leaves you stuck with dzdata_4g
What is bad about keeping the Firmware
If you have flashed the zip or have tried downgrading from it, you might be one of the few that have problems with:
-No 3G, just 1X
-No VPN
-More bugs
And everyone will be stuck with the "Virgin Mobile" banner.
Also you're flashing radios and firmware from an unnoficial firmware for a different device. This can cause a lot of issues.
If you aren't having problems and you flashed it, good for you.. Some do but most don't..
EDIT: We're marked as Virgin Mobile so we'll be at the bottom of the tower priority.. among other things..
Can I still flash the firmware zip minus dzdata_4g.hdr?
Try it and report back. It might brick or phone or cause random reboots with the ROM.
Is there a fix if I already flashed it?
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1641461
Summary:
The point of this warning is that if you flash the leaked firmware, there is a chance of you having problems. This chance is pretty high since I'd say like 1/10 of people have no 3G and signal quality for a lot of people got poorer.
If you get these problems, there's no going back. There's no way of fixing them.
Whether it's worth taking the risk or not is up to you.
Edit: This kind of explains the situation were in right now:
HTCFlyerX said:
BTW....if anyone can confirm that they can roam on data after flashing the VM firmware please let us know! I believe data roaming may not work any longer.
And to explain why I don't believe the Sprint ICS leak....very simply....all the rcdata.imgs from our ruus contain the same exact thing....the partition (RCData) is the Radio-Cust.(om?)er?) Data partition and holds pri information and roaming data!
So quite simply....we flashed a file that was built for a different carrier and are now marked as that carrier in different areas of the network.....this WILL conflict with other things as more of us use our devices at different levels!
ADDED AFTER..... Chad has just confirmed with Qualcomm that we have messed up our devices PRI! There is no way to revert from the VIRGIN MOBILE PRI!
The ICS leak may be our fix as it could contain a updated PRI that would be accepted by our devices partition!

4G still works with the firmware, I never said anything was wrong with 4G. So does hotspot.
Go to settings, about phone, network and tell me what it says for your network operator.
Also you did flash the firmware right? or did you flash the roms without firmware?

Only some are actually having problems, but the point is, if you flash Freeza's firmware there is a chance of you having problems. If you have problems, theres no way of fixing them.
Also the chance is pretty high as many users have been reporting of no 3G, VPN, etc.

I flashed Freeza's ics firmware but my banner never changed to virgin mobile even though it seemed to work since voicemail didn't work. I was able to run 1.13 RUU and it seemed like everything was back to normal.

do i need to be s-off to flash the new firmware? -.- cause im s-on does this mean i cant install ics?
I have a Sprint Evo 3d which Boost says they can activate with the ESN. My question is, can this be done while the phone is rooted with a custom ROM? Does it need the stock ROM and if so, is that good enough or does it have to be unrooted too? Right now it's s-off and still hboot 1.4 so I don't wanna do anything to screw that up or have to redo anything, if possible.
If the phone can stay rooted with a custom ROM, can different ROMs be flashed while it's on Boost? Does it matter what ROM? Sprint ROMs OK? Will I need to change APN settings or anything else?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your quick response. Right now it has MeanROM 2.4 on it which is ICS 4.0.3 with Sense 3.6. Is that good enough? Do you know if the ROM can be changed once it's on Boost and would I continue using Sprint ROMs?
