I tried using the software. It seems you need some sort of "box" that the team sells. This looks pretty popular is the Asias it looks like. Anyways, no matter what I do, the software never connects to the phone, always just says waiting for box connection. Was going to unlock my phone that I'm selling on Ebay. Oh well, lol.
you won a free $500 phone.... why don't you just pay $25 for an unlock code from cellunlocker.
My Norton antivirus removed the download because it saw it as a virus. Major fail on this one. Yes, too good to be true. And if there was a free unlock for the Note it would be all over the place.

Well I do know this is the software used in cellphone stores to unlock all Samsung phones, and but also requires intermediate cable adapter to connect phone and computer to read this software.

Wow people still use Norton! Lol!! You have to think that any Modding software / patches / keygens and so on are always seen as false positive viruses.

Yeah, I have to disable the AV sometimes. And I do stuff inside a virtual machine sometimes, just in case. I am thinking of moving to ESET. Oh, ESET saw "multiple threats" on the download posted, too.

Microsoft Security Essentials people. Its free (just google it), provided by microsoft and is very lightweight. Doesnt take over your machine and make it run like garbage.
ROOT and/or UNLOCK @ one of many websites = cheaper and less HEADACHE
I have been using UNLOCKED GSM [Phones & dongles] since 80s ...never had any issues
> currently
>note = ICS and Jelly Bean OTA ( able to switch from work to home use in mins)
>asus T700 andriod on ICS ( rooted ) with Dongle for 4G via ATT
> Thinkpad T230 Tablet = Linux (play) + win x64 (work) ............FYI = that USB 'dongle' cost me $1.24 free ship and works nciely.on my note, tablet(s) and get 35m+ speeds
So all this 'debate' about UNLOCK gadgets USB tools , Remote login unlock = far to dangerious for me
The resources in this forum is amaazin .... just search and read ... if stuck ASK and be polite !

Not sure if anything has been posted on this yet, sorry if it has, but for all the non-root ppl who want full tethering, there is a pretty easy workaround, I wouldn't even call it a hack.
1. Once pdanet (free edition) has been started and you are tethered, go to the application on your computer and click on "Register Pdanet"
2. Then click "Buy" (don't enter any info, you're not actually buying anything)
3. Once the next page loads, click "I Agree"
This takes you to an https page meant for buying the application.
Don't buy it, unless you really want to haha. Now every https site will load through pdanet.
Just thought I'd share this.
I wonder if that is a way to reset your trial period and if you would have to go through the same process every 30 days or whatever. I am sure that it would be found out and fixed but interesting to know. I have already purchased pdanet and it works ok. I still get slow periods and random disconnects but overall it is the best fix for not being able to use vz mobile connect with access manager. It is also the recommendation from Verizon for android phones. I have talked to tech on 611 about it and it is no longer looked down upon(search for prior horror stories concerning huge bills) as long as you have the corporate unlimited with tethering option in your plan.... I was pointed to pdanet on the android market after complaining about still not getting the vzaccess feature even though I was told that it would come in future software updates (I prefer the connectivity of vzacces over pdanet). BTW, the incredible, for those of us drooling over it, is considered to not work with vzaccess manager even though it states as configure-able on the site with the mobile broadband connect plan per tech support.
EasyTether lite works way better than pdanet ever did for me.

Seems to me this is a pretty crappy thing to do seeing as someone has put in a lot of hard work on building this app. If you don't want to pay for it use the free version. If you need to https version then pony up the money and pay the dev for the app.

I have a very dumb question....Where can I find the guide to unlock/jailbreak the radar so I can install apps not in the market??
I did search and found this chevron thing but its about a year old, dont know if it applies to the RADAR.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
There currently isn't any way to unlock the Radar or any 2nd gen HTC WP7. I'm anxiously waiting for this, would love to install the screen capture app on mine.

uhm....whats interop??
Don't know why my last comment didn't show, damn xda app!
But, interop unlocking gives you/an app access to certain drivers locked down by MS, usually reserved for OEM's or partners.
Currently their is no way to interop unlock any 2nd gen HTC devices like our Radar or Titans. For now us 2nd gen HTC owners are stuck with stock phones. Unless you have a developer account, student account, or purchase a chevron token.

So what does the Chevron token do? Will it work on the Radar?
Well the Chevron Token unlocks the phone to sideload a set number of apps, 10 I think. It should work fine on the Radar. But they're currently "sold out". They will hopefully be able to sell more, it's only $10. It doesn't interop unlock the phone, but interop unlock usually isn't necessary unless you really want to change registry values or fully unlock your phone for some homebrew apps that require fully unlocked phones.
My girlfriend also waiting for Jailbreak because she wants to use Advance Config.
Is there any way to deploy an Registry Editor to the Radar?
No. All 2nd gen devices are locked down hard.

If you create a DreamSpark account through Microsoft, you can dev-unlock your phone for free. You just need a functioning .edu email address. Just Google "Microsoft DreamSpark" and you should see the website where you can create (and then verify) your account. I can't post the link because I'm a new member.
I found this thread and hoping this student account stuff is still valid. So I just created and verified my info. Now where would I even begin to unlock/jailbreak the Radar?

Saw an article on xda dev today. http://www.xda-developers.com/android/asus-releases-official-tf700t-bootloader-unlocker-tool/
So, why doesent Nokia do the same, realese an unlocker tool for those who would like to customise their phones. Simple or what. Iwould gladly refute the warranty for custom roms.
And maybe,, it would increase the sale numbers. You just have to give peaople the right to choose.
1. a nice windows phone with developers applications,
or
2. windows phone with no warranty , and you can do what ever you want with it.
What do you thin?

Sent from my Lumia 800 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Never going to happen I'm afraid, android devices get official unlocker tools mainly because of the openness of the OS and the open source project, but windows prides itself on having a super tight closed system, which for security reasons is great but for us people who want a bit more from our devices is very bad news.

Well, its a case of waiting and hoping, but with android, they will most of the time be unlocked relatively quickly and wont ever be shut off like wp7, and it takes a lot of work and time to crack a wp7 bootloader. I had a HTC Titan that had no activity at all here on xda so I got rid of it, and what do you know, 3 months later it gets unlocked and custom ROMs. So I'm just going to stick with my 800 and pray someone will manage to get our boot loader unlocked. I don't want to lose out again .
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
I have to say, I am one of the few that would not be happy with something like this, I purchased my Lumia 800 because of it being secure.
But on the flip side, I do not see anything like this happening, microsoft pride themselves on their secure operating system for phones, much like apple (ever noticed how there have never been any such unlock tools for apple devices, only third party ones using exploits). With closed source operating systems comes a much more closed environment.
So from what I understand, either HTC or AT&T has plans of dicking over the populous when it comes to the bootloader. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. I don't have any updates on the issue so i don't know if it's happened yet or not. In any case, if you end up in a situation where you cannot obtain the unlock token from HTC for the bootloader, try out Unlock Phone Bootloader by Unlock Root. I personally have used Unlock Root time and time again to root and unroot my old LG MyTouch and my husband's Q with no issues. No need to use command prompt. Just plug in your phone to your comp, enable USB debugging and hit start once the program is on it way. I completely forgot about the bootloader program during the whole process of obtaining drivers and getting ADB and what not. I only remembered just now becaue I'm fixing to root my phone and wanted to see if Unlock Root supported our phone. It's new to the US market, but not the international. So I didn't use the Unlock Bootloader. But, if i ever have to turn this phone in for whatever horrible reason, I'll keep this in mind for myself.
Anyways, Get the program. Give it a shot. It's literally really easy to use. No drivers and command prompts and the like. I'm about to root my phone with the UR program, if it's supported. Have fun. And post if the UB program was actually a success.

And by the way, this OP says you can't know if something works if you don't test it first. Someone has to test it. Just like trying out a new hack, or ROM or even an app, is all testing. You know, that thing called Beta testing? But what do I know, right? I've only been Rooting and romming for 2.5 years.

And Oh Nos for someone taking the time to make a program that compiles all the "hard work" into one place and makes it easier for many to root their devices, especially those who run into issues like getting ADB to sync on their comps or figure out what SDK files to use. And "bad developer" for charging a fee for their hard work in making said program. Some people ask for donations. You pay for full version apps in the Play Store when you really like the Lite versions. Bad, Bad developer for embracing capitalism. Providing a service and charging a fee. But wait! Unlock Phone and Unlock Root are both FREE unless your phone falls under some special circumstance that requires the "full version".

Its a shame you've been rooting and romming that long yet you're still such a noob, not to phones but to the community in general.
No one is against capital at least not the ones you directed that at in this thread.
If I donate my time to build something that I release for free, because I want to do something for the community, and then someone else decides to use my work and my code and sell it for profit, that's stealing my work and selling it as their own.
All that aside I just plain don't like things such as these because people who couldn't find the instructions and run ADB or use the sdk don't need to be unlocking their bootloaders.
I spend a few hours a night teaching users how to use ADB and fastboot, helping with remote troubleshooting. I also spend a couple more hours answering questions. I could easily charge a small fee send them a script or remotely do it for them and cut them loose. But I enjoy this community and the more people who learn the fundamentals the better the community is. The last thing I want to do is capitalize on something which has the ill effect of me surrounding myself with a bunch of uneducated helpless noobs who will screw things up royally, because a large portion of those users will commit warranty or insurance fraud simply because they don't have the ability to pull a logcat.
I'm a greedy bastard I put in about 70 hours a week with my businesses so I can work my way to the top. I have no problem with capitalism. But there is a place for ethics in capitalism and without it, things go downhill.
I didn't mean to sound to harsh, but when I know the sacrifices some of the people like beaups and jcase have made such as spending thousands of dollars on hardware to get the process to a point its safe and anyone who can read directions can achive unlock, it irks me to see someone jump on their case or put quotation marks to insinuate their hard work is something other than coming home from the real job and sacrificing sleep, family, and social obligations just to better the community as a whole.
I know you didn't realize the hornets nest you were about to uncover, and I hope readers realize I don't have malicious intent.

I noticed that the unlock procedures for TMo-G6 (H872) don't work, and the LG Developers Site does not list the Canadian model (H873) as supported for their unlock.bin production. Anyone know how to unlock the bootloader on a Canadian LG-G6, or is there some rule saying I can't?
If it's not listed on the LG site, you don't.
it will never happen
Just curious... why does LG hate Canada? Some geopolitical stuff us southerners don't see?
What does that have to do with canada? Everything but EU and US is unable to unlock.

I think it's more of a control issue; LG likes to keep track of unlocks and has a weird online proprietary system for it. If they make unlocks for every single model available with their current system, they have to process way more unlocks through their website and I imagine they just don't want to do that. They put an annoying amount of effort into trying to control their platform. There's non-US997 models sold here in the states, including AS993 (the most common one you'll find on ebay) and they don't get unlocks either. It really sucks.
Luckily, people almost always find ways to get around these things and LG's lost this fight many times before but it's still frustrating.

You cannot unlock the bootloader for H873. I don't think there will ever be an exploit given the phone is more than two years old. Anyways in my experience this device is good even without rooting. You could hide the app that you don't use or go a step further and uninstall/hide using adb shell. This is uninstall even system apps from the user. I have uninstalled all system apps that I don't need. Also using 1) Blockada for ad blocking 2) AOSP Launcher (Google Launcher modded) 3) Gcam

Agreed. I was trying to install a linux chroot on it. I eventually found UserLAnd and that served my needs without root. Was still curious why Canada didn't push LG for unlock rights like the EU and US. In the US this kinda stuff made it to our high court in something called "right to repair". A tractor company (of all things) encrypted there control firmware and some farmers had figured out out to bypass it to "root" the tractor. This allowed farmers to repair the tractor on site instead of paying thousands to ship it from the farm to a tractor dealership. Anyway, tractor company tried to prosecute under an old DVD encryption law and it landed in our supreme court. Tractor company lost.
Weird that a DVD law used tractor company allows us to unlock phones.
