Its not razr news but I thought this was interesting enough to share.

Interesting read for sure. Thanks for sharing
When I saw that I got really excited and started wondering if it was possible for one of our developers to get their hands on the code.(It's open source if I'm correct) It would pretty awesome if an originally Java coded device get install a ROM in C# just like normal.
Anybody know if that would be possible?
Yes that would be great! We could get a lot more effort out of our razrs! I will be very thankful to the dev who is willing to develop something like this for the razr

If this Java thing with google and oracle continues to become more of a headache,I just wonder if this could become more a significant role with Android.... Who knows?

The judge on the Google vs Oracle trial has expressed a lot of doubt over whether APIs are copyrightable, because they are the instructions for using a programming language.
Though there is a jury on the case it is the judges decision as to whether APUs are copyrightable.

So anyone heard any word on if our x2's will get ics or 2.3.5?

I am sure now that Google took the reigns the X2 will be on the list(not the top, but on it) to get ICS.

The one thing everyone seems to forget though is how old this phone will be once this actually goes through. It takes a long time for the legal part of corporate acquisitions to go through. Google won't actually be having a say in moto for at least a year, if not longer. It wasn't really to have a hardware company anyways, it was a patent grab for protection. They have also said moto will remain a separate company and act as such, so...

The other part of the equation is the dev community. With active, dedicated developers, many good things can come our way. Most of the best stuff we had on the fascinate wasn't the result of anything specifically released for the vzw fascinate. Alot was adapted by our devs from releases for other galaxy s variants, but we benefited from it because of their efforts. That's why I think we need to treat them as the resource that they are. One of the best devs on the fascinate recently left xda because of all the drama & he wasn't the first. If you want more work to be done on this phone than you gotta do your part to lessen the crap, not make more.

But it also had an unlocked bl and that help'd make a couple dev's come, we have 3 devs and i don't think any of them are happy
I know google aquiring Motorola really wasn't gonna change anything at least for awhile, but I mean moto hasn't been the slowest on updates. Although Verizon may get in the way of any speedy update

You are right there. Samsung is more dev friendly with initial firmware features but from what I've gathered their code's a frustrating nightmare & updates are painfully slow. Plus the nonstandard file structure adds the necessity of conversion for any type of real performance kick. Nothing is perfect, that's for sure. I'm just thankful to have a phone that works like a phone first and a hobby second.
As far as the devs are concerned, nitro & naven did excellent work for the fascinate community & I've been really thankful to see them here, not to minimize any of the other contributors on this forum in any way. All of them do something I don't know how to & I get to benefit from it; that's win-win in my book. So, what can we do as participants & beneficiaries to make these guys want to stick around?

Did froyo for the Droid X2 have an unlocked bootloader?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
No
No. Droid X2 did not have an unlocked bootloader at any point.
Still waiting for the bootloader to get unlocked. It's only a matter of time.
Im sure its been answered before...but what is the real advantage to an unlocked bootloader?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
With root we can only do higher level stuff, bootloader access has the arability to change core items within android. For example changing wifi to infrastructure mode instead of ADHOC, changing clock speeds, completely customized roms with kernel access, along with loads of other things.
Dang. I was thinking that if it did, we would have a much easier time just going back to froyo and making awesome ROMs with custom kernals and stuff. I came from the Fascinate, and we had all of that good stuff. I just miss it, that's all. Lol.
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Yeah, but soon, soon we will have a very nice bootstrap utility along with clockworkmod which will hopefully give us a little more developer attention. Until then just enjoy our nice stable android experience we have=).
Very true. We do have some great developers right now even without custom kernels and whatnot. Its all very stable and easy to work with. I may even get into developing soon. It seems pretty... kinda... not really easy. But i would love to learn if nitro or someone wants to give me some pointers.

Is it possible to install the HTC Sense user interface on my Droid Razr Maxx? I used to have and HTC Sensation and i love the widgets and user interface. I am looking for the Sense interface not just widgets, themes, lunchers that just look like that.
It might be possible to port most of sense, but due to locked bootloader, anything relying on kernel access would not fly. There is a proof of concept ROM porting blur to a thunderbolt. I assume it can be reversed, but I can't see a developer interested in doing so. Its just not a common request.

Yeah I'm really confused as well...
I could understand wanting Sense over Blur I guess, but with all the other choices out there it's like getting a boob job and trading up from a small A cup to a full A cup.
From now on let me deal with offensive posts, just clikc the report button and avoid any confrontations yourselves, that what what we are here for
More clearly, do not reply to attacks or offensive posts, just report them...

So Im a closeted webos lover, its true. Had hp not fouled things up worse I would be on a HP Pre whatever this very moment. Open WebOS has hit, is any devs at all interested? Anyone care?
I would definitely run a webos ROM!
Me too
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
Same here!!
Not sure what it would take to get webos up and runnin, but god I hope someone decided to make it happen. I too would still be on webos if HP wouldn't have screwed up so hard. Its wishful thinking that we will ever see webos on our Photon, but one can dream.
Well, crossing my fingers in hopes of someone picking up this type of project. Ran across some new palm pres on ebay for under 50. Almost bit "still might" just as a backup phone to play with every so often.

I'll try and do something with it. I'm busy as all hell with work/class/study, but I've been wanting WebOS on an Android phone since my HTC Hero (lol, I actually had a dev team trying to port WebOS from the Pre to the Hero). Not promising anything since I'm not like an uber dev, but I'll try.

This is an actual "Long Answer" as to why webos ported to android would be harder than thought , found this post on the 'WebOSnation.com' forums

A lot for the following depends on the device in question. If it's older and shares a LOT of components and the chipset as an existing webOS device, this will be far less painful. If it's a current device or something in the future, this is gonna get VERY costly and painful.
1. Time. Unless you aren't married and have no children, you probably don't have enough. Exceptions apply.
2. Money. To buy devices to test from, with knowledge you'll brick many along the way.
3. Intimate knowledge of the OS being ported.
4. Intimate knowledge of the various hardware architectures being ported to.
5. The know-how to port webOS to entirely new CPU/GPU chipsets as necessary.
6. Intimate knowledge of UX/Interaction Design to change interface metaphors if the target device(s) don't support it.
7. Hardware device driver development knowledge to support novel hardware components.
8. The ability to get spec sheets directly from the manufacturer (often from China) if they don't exist online.
9. The ability to execute on all of the above in a near-flawless manner.
10. Further time to ensure all of the above are updated as necessary.
A person that can do this as a career can make around $250,000-$350,000 a year if they can do it single-handedly, and I know of no-one who can in a vacuum. It takes an entire team with their own specializations working in tandem to do it unless you want the first release on the initial device target to fall somewhere in 2018.

ON{X} seems to be a similar app to Tasker or SmartActions. It gives you the ability to create your own"recipes". I was curious if anyone with some developing skill is using this app. It lets you control and extend the capabilities of your Android phone using a JavaScript API to remotely program it.
I just started using this app and it seems as though there is a lot of potential. However, I have no developing experience and there are limited "recipes" on the onx website. I was curious if there are any members with developing experience that are using/creating/willing to share their recipes with those of us less skilled to do this.
