This is a port of AOKP.
/// I'm having a few issues with building from source, and wont put too much time into it until the 3.0 kernel has progressed a bit more. It's making it a little harder to test on the 8GB also. That's not to say that the devs aren't doing a great job because they are. I will try to get some more ports up when I get the time.
Be aware that any and all issues that are present in AOKP and in the current CM9 for the Nook will be here and then some.
CM9 Thread : Currently using Alpha 0.03
The AOKP Port used the build for the Kindle Fire ("Otter")
Remember that this was just for fun and not to expect any major fixes from me, also that this is less functional than any current CM9 build.
If anyone wants to help out feel free. And if any one finds any other issues post and I'll update the Op
The instructions will be the same as CM9.
The 8GB uses a different recovery and instructions can be found Here

Screen rotation fixed in build.prop, thanks Modded Darts
Original Release-------
The nook displays the screen as if it's orientation is 90 degrees off to one side, yet the touch points on the screen will correspond to the way that it should be. You'll see what I mean if you try it
Thanks to everyone involved with with development on the Nook without you I wouldn't have a CWM to flash with or a CM9 to port from (especially getting it working on the 8GB too).
Also thanks to the AOKP team.
Thanks

Can you give us more details about the port, like from where you ported it or you compiled it from source etc?
Any other details that might be necessary for anyone else wanting to take up this project or wanting to help you?
I did a port(no source build), and used aokp for the Kindle fire ("otter"), as it was the closest device I could see.

Is this running Kernel 3.0 or 2.6?
Could we have a link to the original rom thread? Is this it?
Screenshots?
Specific rom install instructions, if any.
I found this collection of themes and mods, maybe some will work.
Flashing
Flash it like you would Cm9 if you have a gingerbread based rom. If you have Cm9 simply flash over it.

Its based on the current CM9, so likely the 2.6 Kernel.

I guess that was the thread for it although I didn't go there I just downloaded from the aokp server. Alot of mods may somewhat work, but remember that they are usually device specific so more issues may arise if you flash them.
And yes it should be what ever kernel and hardware files that cm9 is using as that is where they were all pulled from.
Rotation
I haven't tested it but about half down on the build.prop it says ro.sf.hwrotation=270 when it should say 360 instead of 270.
Edit:It works fixes the touches and rotation.
If Keith puts that fix in the .zip I'll try it. I'm exited for a new ROM to flash!

Ok, downloading right now. Do I have to find the right gapps? Will the current cm9 ones work? Can you link me to the gapps? Or are they built into it?

Well I went ahead and flashed it. Found out I need some kind of gapps, I'll just wait until you link them. Overall the ROM is very...... alpha. Pretty much everything is laggy and when I tried to change the processor speed and governor under rom control it crashed settings. I did try changing some of the options under rom control and it worked great. Not a daily driver yet, but I think it has potential. Keep up the good work. I look forward to when I can use this full time

AOKP uses the same gapps as cm9, so just flash that.

Yeah no daily driver here either, running CM7 until I can run video and probably until the kernel gets farther along.
I assuming that governors and different cpu states (at least ocing), aren't supported in the kernel.
I'll link gapps when I get to my pc its the same as cm9/ics.

Not talking about oc'ing , I was talking about just making it always run at 1ghz. I'm doing that on Cm9 and it seems to help with a few of the bugs.

I was wondering if any devs had given this a shot? It seems to have been done for the Iconia tab. I was thinking about trying to work on this tonight, theres a lot of performance enhancements in the 3.2 system from what I have heard in the xoom forums
Sounds awesome, I can be your beta tester

Im also working on this right now as i am a complete newbie to dev. well see if it work. im doing a nand backup right now and will be flashing afterwards
No go: I always get a E:error /sdcard/update.zip (status 0)
i think my script is messed up
Wed need a few things to get this rolling:
- A deodexed ROM and have CWM version made http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1165998
- Bonsai or Pershoot or Supercurio builds a 3.2 kernel from source (do we even have that yet?)
- Is 3.2 for XOOM a vanilla?
Are there any hardware difference such as wifi, BT, screen, sound that are different between the A500, XOOM and Tab 10.1? Also, just like HTC, there might be specific framework that works with only the XOOM and nothing else.
EDIT: From what I can see, there is definitely a different kernel for the 3.2 and not compatible to 3.1. Therefore without the proper kernel support, things WILL break. The CWM for the XOOM needs an external SD card and modifying the script might work. I will have a look into it.

I was able to get it to install but would not boot.
You are correct only 3.2 kernels work. Tiamat now has 2 kernals for xoom. One pre 3.2 and on post.
At this point building a kernal from scratch mixing and matching they're 3.2 kernal with our drivers is the only way
At this moment, I think Bonsai has the latest kernel using nVidia's source. I will post a message in his forum and see if he is interested in building his next customer OS from the XOOM 3.2 CWM.
I just want to share my appreciation and anticipation of a ROM with 3.2

Yeah, I gave their patched update.zip a glance last night and it doesnt look good in terms of 3.1 kernel support. I am still going to try a couple of things over the weekend, but we will probably need pershoot/randy's help in working out a 3.2 supported kernel. For now though... going to just use pershoot's 3.1 kernel, and try and merge their system.img with what we have for stock 3.1 on the GT. I'll report back if that has any luck
I messaged Randy and he will have a look at it when he has time.
In the mean time, I took a quick look at the APP folders and seems that there are many Moto apps on there that need to be stripped out of before it can be usable.

Paranoid Android has more UI choices from normal to hybrid. Really good and stable ROM. Cyanogen will are the main source. You have any problems its them that fix it not Paranoid. I'm on Cyanogen now. Was on Paranoid and enjoyed it. I'd rather stability than anything else.
Please read the rules about posting in the correct sections.

This one I did not closed because the OP is asking about a comparison between two specific roms not asking a general "which rom is best". I feel this thread is ok and tolerable. lol
only thing i dont like about cyanogen is that you cant have a brightness slider, i use paranoid but a recommendation i could make is install the latest siyah kernel then run one as a first rom and the other as second rom and give them both a try i do it for omega stock touchwiz and pa very useful :3

How do you mean by "run as first rom and the other as second"?
He means dual boot, see siyah kernel thread. But quite odd to dual boot with two non Sammy (or 2 Sammy) roms
More logical to use paranoid as it's cm based with more features.
Newb question here:
But, what's the difference between CM10 and Paranoid Android?
Since Paranoid Android is built on CM10 - wont it just have a few extra features? (Hybrid mode looks cool imo.)

Don't you think hybrid is a big difference ? Just flash and compare, no one will be able to choose for you. Ten minutes work, restore is easy with nandroid, you could even try without data wipe as it's same base. But CM10 bugs ==> Paranoid.
I look at the voting poll and it's pretty close. Right now I'm running CM10. I must to say that the battery life rocks. The only thing that I don't like that much is the Contacts feature, a lot of stuffs are missing. Ow and also I can't find Power Saving mode in Settings?

The latest Syiah Kernel allows you to dual boot your phone. So you can have two different roms installed.
I use CM10 because it has faster/more frequent updates. (Usually every night hence "nightly") (could be a good or bad thing though... I feel like I have to flash something on my phone every day. Flashing is sooo addicting lol.)
PA is based on CM10 and will have to wait for CM10 to release its update before it too updates. The PA team is also quick to update when it happens though.
But PA has added features to CM10 that some people may or may not like. Hybrid mode and enabling/disabling hard/soft keys are one of top features that comes to mind.
Dude, first of all.. you CAN'T let other people decide on what you "want"
You just have to try it for yourself..

I'm trying out right now the CM10. Very awesome! I will give a try to PA also.
Just wanted to know which was more stable ..
This is a little off the Paranoid and CM10 but what I tried was this...
Downloaded Omega v29 & Omega v2.0 and dropped into SD Card,
Formatted my Internal Memory, (like completely formatted),
Flashed Omega v29, once done, set it up, and there is S Teaks in the App Drawer, open it up and go across to Dualboot and click the ''Reboot into 2ndROM Utils''
Down the bottom there is dual-boot options, go into that, Format 2md Rom system, Wipe 2nd Rom data/cache and wipe dalvik-cache, and fix permissions, then install zip to from External SD (where you put the omega v2.0 file, and flash that. And the rest is as is comes.
It will reboot and you have a choice to click the home button to go to your 2nd rom or click anything else to go to 1st Rom.
Worth it, due to both those Omegas are different UI, I got Omega v29 for Gaming and 2.0 for sexy show off looks.
i used PA before im on CM10.1 based rom,
PA - i like the phablet mode etc but it has no statusbar transparency
CM - i love the speed, themes and the softbutton below its like a built in. battery and performance are great.
i dont know which is better since i used the same kernel with that 2 cusrom marmite kernel

Hi scritch007,
I have a suggestion for you, Fera and other devs. Since the ICS release from Fera is very much stable now and I believe next release of Fera Kernel and ICS (which will be included all your patches etc) will fix the problem reported by ppl so far. The rom is CM9 based rom is in stable state now thus you can focus on CM10 which is nascent while CM9 on which Fera is already working there must be a final release for CM9 and complete focus of all testers/devs/themers on CM10.
What you would say fellows?
Thanks
OK on another note
If you keep only the es209ra device tree on your laptop and keep it updated, I can run you the builds on my server. I have a full set of cm10 and cm9 sources there.
We can figure this stuff out once my semester exams ending.
Since my X10 is not daily, I am looking to help with it. ...
Changing LOG to ALOG itself was headache enough and then the gralloc was crashing on my face....
It's really amazing to see how far this one boots and works.

I don't totally agree in here with you. Fera made an amazing ROM, but it is ported from other devices libraries. I'd like to have a CM9 built that is fully working. On CM9 there is also stuff that don't work (properly). Wifi tethering for instance. Video recording/decoding
I tested your latest build its much stable than the cm10 build which tomgus and I had i can see that many minor bugs which were present in FXP cm9 are fixed. Good luck
Edit:- One thing have you ported any overlay parts from KTG or 3.0 kernel .
wow 4.1, this is like christmas gift :good:

EDIT: i had replace kernel.sin from rom to tft kernel, then i can get to cwm

I feel what Faisal meant to say is that let's get the CM10 party started full-on.
Am sure it's hard to let something that's so close and so long that you have been involved with. Everyone always wants what newer and shinier, but cm9 still need some work. right now it's really good but im sure he knows it can be better thats why he continue working. And remember the devs are people just like you and I with offline lives and as you probably know that this kinda thing takes lots of time and especially since the cat was let out of the bag early people would want work to start on it and want it finished over night. hype aside, all we can do is wait and contribute in anyway we can.
In my opinion the devs must continue to develop CM9.
We should have a full working CM9 before going to CM10.
That way you talk, about leave CM9 and go on to CM10 will leave us without any completed stuff to use.
Next will be CM10.1 (Android 4.2) and then others, and if we always want the newest one we will end without anyone of those working like they should.

Hi, I've rooted a friends NT wth 1.4.3 using the SD card method. I am looking to change this thing to a traditional Android Tablet with Android ICS or higher. Any idea what is the best and most stable rom? How about Xylaon?

Against forum rules to post the "best" ROM. But my preferred ROM is CM 10.1 4.2.2. If you want a more stable version I suggest CM10. I just like using the most up to date ROM is why I use 4.2.2 build.
Pick whatever you want. Head over to the iamafanof website to find the ROM of your liking. He has CM, Paranoid Android and Xylaon. All do the same thing with slight "extra goodies".

Thank you for your response. I wasn't really asking for best rom but people's opinion of which one is most stable. This is someone else's device and I don't want to be maintaining it. Xylaon is on it now and it seems pretty cool. I don't have access to sound files to test the sound. I've heard Android 4.2 variants have sound issues. Is that correct/

I'm not familiar with the Xyalon build so it might just be a bug in it. Different ROMs have different little bugs. I have CM10.1 build from succulant. I don't have audioproblems.

any major bugs you've found with cm10.1?
my brain is quickly turning to mud....spent the last 2 hours reading up on rooting this only to finally figure out it's a ****ing tablet and not a ****ing color . doing it for a friend's kid so kinda in the same situation as the op (looking for the best option for a maintenance free rom)
always thought cm is the best option for putting on another's device but feeling reluctant to leave it at cm10

I'd suggest Succulent's CM10.0 build dated 12/31 http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/cm10-0-jellybean-sdcard-img-for-nook-tablet/.
You can try running his various builds off SD first before picking one to install internally.
I second CM10 dated 1231. I have that on a NT used by a 9-year old, and it's doing its job beautifully.
When I tried higher builds on my NT stock browser has been a bit glitchy, and there has been a few minor problems while streaming video. Works flawless in CM10 1231 build!
(I visit a pretty poorly coded web site quite often, and I'm sure many problems are due to the poor site, but it doesn't alter the fact that it works well on CM 10 an not on higher builds!)

hahahaha, I did the EXACT same thing when I first got this thing ages ago. Someone gave it to my wife for free and I was told to "make it work nice and keep it"
I'm running Xylon now, but I've had the best battery life with AOKP (I could quite literally leave it unplugged for a week and it would still be 60+% battery, assuming it was off the whole time).
Only thing better for me was Stock. Xylon is close, but not as good.

You're using a VERY old ROM. Assuming you have it internal flashed all you need to do is copy the .zip ROM and GAPPS files (that you can download here) onto your SD card.
You have to preform a factory reset/wipe data, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache. So if you have data on your device you want to keep make sure to back it up.
Once you do that then install .zip from SD card and select the ROM and Gapps. Reboot your tablet and TADDA, CM10 is internal installed on your device!
I have some suggestions!

The most stable version of CyanogenMod is CM7(Gingerbread)
If you want the second most stable, that would have to be CM9 because CM10 still has a minor crash/sleep*STUCK* bug and some versions of it just dont work period. I have the NOOK Tablet 16GB with TWRP Installed, but having the "Unable to mount /data1 partition" error but will shortly be fixing that and i will be testing like a champ once again ^_^!!! *Im fixing my problem tonight before i go on a 13 hour trip

*ADD ON* CM9 IS A VERSION THAT IT JUST LIKE CYANOGENMOD10
Not meaning to yell but Android Ice Cream Sandwich has almost all of the features Jellybean has in store. but Jellybean supports the NOOK Color without the problems of the NOOK Tablet<--Kernel Difference + Hardware Difference(Thats the only problem with Android Jellybean
Cm10 was made into a stable version with its final release. I run it with no problems. CM10.1 however is very buggy. Still crashes and runs slow.

You don't need cwm recovery 6 to flash it. You can use recovery 5.*.*.*. (Latest version of 5).
You can replace the recovery.img if you want with the newest 6.*.*.*. The newest version is red. But you dont need to replace it.
thanks it works ill play around with it see how it goes
