[Q] Samsung galaxy S2 or HTC EVO 3D?

I will be handing down my Swagged out EVO to my wife and I will be upraging. Which is the better option right now the EVO 3D or the Galaxy S2? Or does someone have another option?
I am considering also an evo 3d. I have sgs2 and i like it. it could be nice to hear from someone who has tried both phone.

Well, your most likely gonna get a biased answer in this forum, BUT, I, being a huge HTC fan, but also an honest, unbiased person, would go with (as i already have) the GS II, I used to love HTC sense, and i used to hate touchwiz, but then i tried twiz 4.0, and its much lighter, and in my opinion, nicer then sense. Not to mention the combination of the exynos processor and the mali 400 gpu is better then ANYTHING HTC has to offer at this time. All they have is qualcomm SoC, and Adreno gpu's, which dont get me wrong are great, but they just cant compete with the current hardware in samsungs S II devices, as a matter of fact, IMHO, i dont think ANYTHING can compete. I turned down a nexus and decided to wait for ICS for my gs II, and I will not be upgrading until the gs III or a quad core sammy come around. Go with the GS II, from one previous HTC lover, to a current HTC lover, you will not be disappointed, Not to mention the Dev support for this device is greater then any other device Ive EVER seen. You'll be more than happy with a GS II. Please, update me on what you decide to do.
Edit: My bro has the Evo 3D. IIMHO the GS II is better in EVERY department. IF I was going to go with HTC cause samsungs went extinct, it would be either a sensation (dev support) or an Amaze/Ruby (best hardware equipped HTC ATM.)
First thing, why on earth do you feel the need to use so many question marks. It is a question, we get that or did you face palm the keys while typing?
My advise to you would be to go in the shop and test both out, see which feels the best in your hand. They both have good features on them so the choice has to be made by only you.
For myself, I have a SGS2 and couldn't think of myself with any other phone atm. On a side not I have never been a massive fan of things with 3d. I think it is unneeded for a mobile phone.
I played with a 3D in store and it's pretty cool, although I'm not sure how long it'll last past the first couple of days.
I owned the Evo3D when it came out in the US. The real problem for me with the device was the carrier (Sprint). Their service is beyond crap so I ended up returning the device more because I couldn't get reception. The device itself is very nice. IMO the Evo3D is probably the best HTC device out there with its 1gb of Ram and 1.2ghz dual core S3. I thought the 3D aspects were pretty interesting. I was expecting it to be more of a gimmick but it's the real deal.
Overall though, my opinion of Android devices over the last 6 months has not changed (and that includes the Gnex). There's the SGS2 and then there are a bunch of other phones. The GS2 sits perched atop the Android totem pole and no other device I've used has knocked it off.

+1 your opinion on the GS2.... But how could you say the evo 3d is the nicest HTC right now? The amaze has a 1.5hghz dual-core S3, 1 gig of ram, and HSPA+ rated @42mbps, and the rezound/vigor is the same hardware specs as the amaze but with a HD 720 display. The Evo 3d WAS the nicest HTC maybe back in july, but then the sensation was there as well, so i cant even say that with backbone. There is a new gen of HTC devices out now, the Evo 3D is a tier 2 device for them now.

Isn't evo really that fast?

Hi all,
I have won an iphone 4 16gb from a lottery and i think i'll get it in second half of january. As you imagine i'll sell it and buy a high end android device. I absolutely want to buy evo 3d because of its ram but here someone offers me sensation. In Turkey, evo 3d is about $100-150 cheaper than sensation. I know evo has more ram than the other. So it should be faster because they have the same cpu and gpu... But why is this cheaper and why does somebody say it isn't really that fast? Please help me to persuade myself to get an evo
By the way, goodbye desire z

I don't know who told you the Evo 3D "isn't really that fast" but...
1.2ghz dual-core cpu stock (mine is OC'ed to 1.5ghz) Snapdragon S3
1gb RAM
And the Adreno 220 GPU
Although those are just specs that anyone can look up, they're on par with almost every other highend smartphone out there right now. I'm running an experimental ICS rom and it's smooth as ****. It's not even in the final stages yet, so that says something.
It's cheaper because it didn't sell as anticipated.
I've gotten 4500 quads and linpack scores topping 108+ so yeah not that fast.
Wtf.
No its fast as hell and will do some serious multitasking with a gig of ram. Most evo 3ds can handle an overclock up to 1.782ghz the fact alone that the factory1.2ghz clock speed is actually detuned from the factory specs of 1.5ghz so technically "overclocking" to 1.5 is pretty damn near not overclocking.
I would say go for the 3d if you want the better phone.
Sent from my ice cream covered SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
With Root and OC cpu I get around 95-105 mflops on cpu and if I really crank it up around 3300+ on quad standard scores. It is super fast

Sensation has a much better camera, and is thinner. But the extra ram does make the 3d feel much faster. Atleast when I played with them both I didn't think the sensation felt any faster than my epic 4g, but I noticed quite a difference when I used the 3d. Both stock of course when I played with them. If you need a really clear camera then its the sensation you need. Other than that the 3d is the way I went because I have sprint, and because it seamed so much quicker.

I can't remember when i used camera of my desire z last. So it is not problem if a device has only a vga camera. But i want to play games smoothly as it can be. Yesterday i visited a technology market a had a chance to try evo 3d. Unfortunately i couldn't find a wifi network so couldn't install any 3d game to play... Everything was ok with its stock rom but i want to have a red back side although they have yellow back side

Having both of these phones myself, I have to say that at this moment in time the sensation has better rom's which give better performance than the EVO3D, which is a shame because i always thought the evo would spank the sensation, and on paper it does, but the user experience so far with the evo has been disappointing on the evo when compared to the sensation, i don't do benchmarks because quite frankly it doesn't mean ****, the user experience is everything and from what i've seen the evo has a little bit of catching up to do.
I've still got 11 days to return my evo and get either a galaxy nexus or an XL, I'm a fan of HTC Sense so i am dragging my heels on switching devices, i just hope the dev's can pull out the roms which the guys doing the sensation have.
I'm running Insert Coin at the moment, probably the fastest sense rom on the sensation, alas it doesn't seem to cut the mustard on the EVO, my DHD is smoother than this with only one core.
I've unlocked both cores and i'm using the anthrax kernel v2.
If you want to know what i mean, then just swipe the carousel around and right at the end you will see jitters and stuttering, the sensation doesn't do this, if the evo was as smooth as the sensation is then it would be a no brainer, but at the moment it's just not the case.
Oh and for anyone about to say putting a senseless rom on their evo is smooth, well yea it is, but i didn't buy the evo to live without sense, i could have got a galaxy nexus for that.

In short, the EVO is a better phone, however if you plan to flash a rom, which i think you will, then at the moment the sensation is ahead, but that will probably change.

I think I will buy an evo 3d...
Hardware wise, Evo3D trumps Sensation. It's just how it was marketed.
During that time, this section was flooded with assholes who were arguing newer phones like the sgs and other non-related phones with superior specifications and ROM support that it kind of killed it's tractions here (not excluding the babies who kept killing dev support here because of there constant demands for things they had no right to push since they weren't helping with the code).
On the outside, it was the best at release, but the competitors were selling their latest phones that weren't even available, and the end results was that people waited for them.
So now you see them trying to get rid of there stock in preparation for the next big thing. I still love my phone. I came from the Hero and knew what specs I was looking for. If we could get ICS running on that little machine, my horizon for this phone was, and still is, grand. It's capabilities will last me well into the next phase of phones until I'm forced to get a new one that will accommodate the new change in cellular frequencies.
the Evo 3d would be great coming from the DHD, IMO,
I just got my 3d a coupole months ago, upgraded from the original EVO 4G, I could have gotten any phone, or even waited for some of the new ones im sure sprint will release in the next 3ish months, and I am completely satisified, I find my phone to be rediculously fast, It takes whatever i throw at it with ease, especially when I have anthrax kernels.
And I feel like once the 3D officially gets ICS, things are just going to get faster and smoother..

Buying new phone...

Hi guys. I'm going to buy a new phone because my Galaxy Ace don't satisfies me.
I'm a bit unsure about this 2 phones:
HTC EVO 3D or SAMSUNG GALAXY S2
I want buy htc because i very like sense, i like htc smartphones, it's quite similar with the s2, and have 3D (not very important but it can do video and photo in 3D ) and i don't have so much money to buy s2.
But if i want s2 i only need to wait more time. (damn money >.<)
The question is Performance
S2 is very much speedy than HTC EVO?
Write me a comparison between cpu and vga of this 2 phones please. Thanks!!!!
SGSII
EDIT: plenty of comparisons on the world wide web, for example - HERE
Or even do a search here on xda!!
Not trying to be an ass, but this question has in my opinion been explained substantially!
I don't have direct experience with those two phones, but my girlfriend has the s2 for att and I have the HTC rezound on verizon. I believe the processors are the same respectively for both, and I constantly compare our phones to see which is faster and tbh, there isn't much of a difference. Her s2 seems a little snappier at times but honestly, the difference isn't enough to make me jealous. If you like sense, I'd say go for the evo, if you want a larger super amoled screen, and feel like forking out more cash (I think the s2 is 200 where I work and the 3d is only 99) go for the samsung. Neither phone is a bad choice, and as far as performance, both will be amazingly quick compared to the phone you're coming from, and really not that far from each other in terms of performance.
Good luck choosing!
Thanks for all replys. I like this 2 phones and for me there isn't much differences. But i'm scared because i don't want EVO to will be lagger in game performance.
Ah, the qHD display of EVO looks better than the screen of the iphone right? I want a realy good resolution
Amoled is better than lcd but the resolution of evo is very noticeable compared to resolution of s2 right?
I think u should wait for a short time, for the news phone, HTC one V
Oh my god. Htc is copying iphone??? -.- My god... No microsd, need microsim and battery isn't removable. O my god. Why htc need to copy iphone... Looser...
Ah, this 3 model of htc cost too much for my money budget.

Huawei announced the "fastest phone" if that's what you're interested in. Rumor says it'll be stock ICS, and huawei is well-known for its low prices (though who knows if they'll continue that policy with their new high-ends). Seems to have pretty good resolution and size for gaming as well. You would, of course, have to wait till it comes out.
I don't want to wait anymore i'm bored >.<
I have decided i'll buy htc evo, because android don't need too much perfomance to play the mostest game right?
Ah, with ICS the perfomance of phones will improve??
I think huawei is a brand economic.
Please answer. This is my last question about ice scream.
im not sure that sg2 is best choice now. if i were u i would wait for sg3 (comming very soon) or buy s1. galaxy s is very good phone.
Hahhahaha, SG S is a good phone i know but updates are deads :|
And it will not get ICS... I trust HTC and i hope it will not delude me.
SGS2 is the best phone for now but HTC EVO 3D have same hardware and comes with a good software. And have 3D capacity. So i buy htc. Samsung have deluded me. Anyway the question is changed. ICS should not improve perfomance of all devices? So the EVO 3D with ICS should be very fast right?
Phones with ICS are going to be faster because of OS improvements as well as phone release time. There are benchmark results on youtube for the EVO 3D and any other device you're looking at. Based on the benchmarks, I'm sure you'll be very happy with the EVO 3D.

[Q] Which phone to buy

im in a pickle here. im currently using Optimus 2x and planning to switch phones. My current options or rather the phones im interested in are
- HTC Sensation XE
- Galaxy Nexus
Any advice from existing users ?
HTC one.
One series is a little out of my range, besides XE and One series Boost the same series of processors
A though decision. The Nexus has stock android and gets faster updates. But the Sensation is a nice device as well.
I would probably go for the Sensation as I like the design better and you get a pair of beats headphones. The Sensation got faster hardware. But the Nexus has a very high resolution screen. But unfortunately, its a pentile display. I've used pentile displays before and I must say that I did not like it very much. But I've never used the Nexus, so I can't really judge how it would look like on this resolution.
I have the Galaxy Nexus and I love it! I have tried my brother's original HTC Sensation and while I like the solid feel of it, I just thought it felt a bit slow compared to my GNex even after the ICS update. Plus, despite the PenTile matrix, the display is absolutely brilliant, the only display I have seen so far that can compare to it is the one on HTC One X.
Beats headphones are overpriced and overrated. Bass and nothing else. I don't know what the price situation between these phones is in Pakistan, but in Sweden the GNex is €30 cheaper than the Sensation XE, and for that you could get a pair of semi-decent headphones like the Koss Porta Pro, if audio is something that matters in your selection.
My vote lies with the Nexus.
The HTC seems to be a tad better than the samsung in some areas such as the camera, CPU. Where are you buying them from and what are their price ?
Well the sensation xe is for 43,000 PKR or 475 usd
where as galaxy nexus is for 39,000 PKR or 429 usd
i dont mind that galaxy wont come with beats, i already have a pair of Razar moray which i am very fond of, i feel that 1.2ghz will be rather equal to 1.5ghz of sensation because of the heavy sense interface. This is one tough choice :S
i like smoothness of htc but i want that instant updates and support of google phones...
If those are your only choices. Go with the HTC Sensation XE
TEAM MiK
MikROMs Since 3/13/11
if you have any other suggestion within the range of 480 usd ill be happy to consider
otherwise i move XE to my priority
Htc One X, That is what i like very much!
depends i guess. nexus has the best rom culture, real android, real ice cream sandwich, fresh updates, comes uncluttered, no bloat, less restrictions. its fast and sleek, looks great. but these are my criteria. hardware is overrated as i see it, htc could have 8 cpu for all i care, theres nothing, no game or app whatsoever, that nexus couldn't run proper, so why skipping the only device on the marked that is truly open and developer friendly which for me is more important that silly specs, cam has 1 megapixel more, quadcore and no app makes use of it anyway, 0.00001 ghz faster, yabadabaduh.
I guess it's more a question of taste than anything. Most smartphones today are fast enough to perform flawlessly and one of the very few things that makes the difference is the design.
I like the Sensation design better.
Get the GN. The Sensation SLCD looks like crap compared to GN's Super AMOLED.
Absolutely HTC Sensation XE.
All Recommendations were very helpful and frankly everyone made a valid argument. But in the end i have Sensation XE in my hands
"Proud Owner"
i have no idea what it would have been like to hold GNS, id love to try it out one day as well
thank you everyone, regards
Farrukh

Switching to another phone, anyone?

So i just wanna know, Are you guys gonna switch to a newer phone out there anytime soon?,HTC has pretty much dumped the EVO 3D (Shame on you HTC,Shame on you) Are you switching to another HTC Device or going with another brand? I Switched to a Galaxy note 2 around a month ago, I dont think ill ever go back to an HTC phone..once the phone is out for 9-12 months..htc never mentions it ever again..Look at the One X its being overlooked by HTC because they got the new phones out. Not everyone wants to have a high end device with a 1080p screen and pay 800 $ for one. Some just want a mid range device. But im talking too much on HTC now.I still use my EVO 3D whenever im travelling because i got the 4000 mah battery on it which lasts a hell alot of time even with overclock.

Yeah HTC has a habit of dropping their flagships after a year. The Desire got dropped after the update from 2.1 to 2.2, now the EVO 3D dumped at ICS. I just bought a One X because of it's specs and I'm dreading to see how long HTC is going to support it for
I've pretty much dumped sprint altogether and went to a droid RAZR on Verizon. I barely had a good connection plus it was getting too expensive for me. Its a good mid range phone and costs 100 on new contract, 150 for droid RAZR HD which I recommend. By all means if you feel the need to switch phones. Mine were purley financial reasons but I still keep my evo 3d and update it whenever a new release for my favorite ROM comes out. Purely a preference thing.

You should have purchased Exynos s2 or s3 as they still perform much better than the tegra 3 one x. Many games get extra graphic effects and enhancements on S3 and even on S2 but not on tegra 3 one x.... Or your one x is the Qualcomm variant?

Ok, but please don't purchase a tegra 3 device, it's a horribly slow chipset. The combination of Exynos and Mali 400MP4 forms a beast in multitasking, processing and even in gaming. Tegra 4 might be better. But Exynos 5 and next gen Mali GPUs will again outperform tegra 4.
Our evo 3d at Galaxy s2/s3 graphics in modern combat 4 performs better than one x. One X lags and 3D does not.
Thanks for the heads up brother. I'll definitely keep that in mind. And speaking of performance, this leads to another question I want to ask.......*goes off to make a new thread*
