my archos 101 g9 is rooted and has 4.0.5 on it, but i was thinking about selling it, so me being a prat, i went into recovery and went to format system, then went to reset android, and then restarted the archos, but once it restarted it froze on the android entertainment part and i cant get past it now.
what have i done????
someone please tell me this is fixable.

You may try to flash the original firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633465

I plan to keep the ICS 4.0.5, dont want to go back, all i tried to do was wipe the data off the tablet so that i can sell it.
example = clear all the things i had installed like gmail, facebook etc etc as i didnt want the man to use my details.

It's most likely you made Reformat instead of Reset. Now the best way is to download official firmware from Archos web site (now it has the latest 4.0.6 version) and install it according to the instructions on the website.

Thanks, only problem is, which i forgot, is after i rooted my archos my girlfriend then went and erased all the different files etc off the computer, so when i connect my archos to the computer, its not showing up anymore.
so because im already rooted, will it be a long process or do i just need to download whats needed for the computer to see my archos?
if so, after i've done that, can i then go ahead and simply apply the 4.0.6 onto the internal memory and install it?

Firmware - 1.6
Baseband version - 1.0.14
Build number - R1FA014
2) My phone does not have the Android market application inbuilt in it! how & from where do i download that app?
3) How do i install applications downloaded to my computer from Android market, to my phone?
4) I am not able to access Calender since it requires me to log in to my Gmail account. everytime i try to do that, it says "error, try next time"! is there any way i can start the calender without registering?
Thanks.

Hi.
Yes there is, considering a lot of us are running R2BA026, that should give you an idea of how far behind you are.

Personally, I would debrand and update your handset with UK generic FW, which will give you the Market app, which will answer question 3, and as you need to register for the Market to use it, that also answers your 4th question.
1) Install SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service).
You can get it from here: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/download/1/110/61/1275980198/Update_Service_Setup-2.10.6.21.exe
2) Run SEUS, follow the prompts. You don't need to update the phone through it, but get the phone ready for updating. This process should install the drivers necessary for the rooting process.
Note: I suggest you keep your USB cable attached to that USB port. Remember which USB port of your computer it's attached to, as changing USB ports can lead to a bit of confusion for the next 2 steps!
3) To check if #2 was successful, click on Start, click Run, and type: regedit
In the Registry Editor that pops up, click on Computer, press CTRL+F, and search for this: USB\Vid_0fce&Pid_adde\
After it's finished finding, on the right side you'll see DeviceInstance, then it says REG_SZ, then it says something like USB\Vid_0fce&Pid_adde\5&270d2a78&0&3
You'll need that last bit (in this example: 5&270d2a78&0&3 Yours would probably be different). This is your DeviceID (you'll need it soon!)
Note: You may have multiple of these if you plugged the USB cord into many USB ports on your computer. Each USB port will give a different DeviceID, so if you have more than one DeviceID, you'll have to choose one, and if it doesn't work (you'll find out when you reach #5!) you will have to choose another one.
Alternatively, download the file in the next step and extract it, go to the folder called 1st, and run the DeviceID.jar file. It should give your DeviceID
4) Download this:
http://filevo.com/1nlq8wryo11u.html
or from here: http://rapidshare.com/files/404363083/i_R1FA16_ft.rar.html
Extract it.
In the step1 folder, you'll see a file called DeviceID.txt
Open it up, delete whatever's there, and put YOUR DeviceID (that you found from the previous step).
Save the file and close notepad.
Note: Make sure there are no extra spaces or lines after/before the DeviceID. The ONLY thing that should be in the file is your DeviceID, NO SPACES/LINES (for example, only this: 5&270d2a78&0&3 [yours will probably be different])
5) Take out the USB cable from your phone (leave it plugged into your computer)
Turn your phone OFF
Open up step1.cmd (it's not inside the step1 folder, but outside it), but DON'T PRESS ANYTHING
Now we have to put the phone into flash mode. This is how you do it:
Hold the Back button on your phone, and while holding the back button, insert the USB cable into the phone.
A green light should come on the phone (like when it's charging or a missed call)
Quickly "Press any key to continue..." in the open step1.cmd window.
Let it finish what it's doing. It will say "Press any key to continue..." after it's finished. Until then, DON'T touch anything!
If you get problems in this step, refer to this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6970868&postcount=3
Here's a helpful video for common java issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713457
After completion, this will give you a Generic X10i R1FA016 firmware (check it by pressing the left button, go to settings>about phone and at the very bottom under build number)

Follow those steps and when you've completed them run SEUS which should update you to R2BA026, and give you the Market app. If you run in to any issues read the links provided as the chances are it will be user error if you do.
Thanks a lot buddy.
Will de-branding my phone affect future upgrades to Android 2.1 in any way?

It isn't, but if want to use the Market you are going to need a gmail account.
I tried using SEUS but failed at step 2 itself!
It says press back button while inserting USB cable in phone & keep pressing back button. i did the same & waited & waited for 5 minutes, but no response!
then my finger started hurting & i had to abort the process! does it take so long?

You're not doing it right, should take about 5 seconds for seus to recognise the phone. Try again.
Sorry for the back-to-back posts, but can i update my phone country to India instead of UK? i think Indian X10s do get Android Market. Since i am using the phone here in India & in future would like to get this serviced in india itself, i would prefer my phone to show India in country!
It honestly doesn't matter. I'm in Canada but I'm using a Latin American firmware. But yes, to get it serviced I guess you need it. How about asking someone with the Indian firmware to dump it for you?
That is precisely the reason i am looking for the indian version instead of UK.
None of my friends have a X10 & strangely, even google dint yield any satisfactory results.
I will opt for the UK update only if Indian update is not available.
Also, i am still not able to open the calender using my gmail account. evertime it says "error! try again later" !!!

so did you manage to update to a newer firmware yet? you said a while back that "holding the back button" did not work. You need to have the phone off before you do this step.
1. turn phone off
2. connect usb cable to phone, but not to pc.
3. open SEUS and get to the stage that it says waiting for phone connect.
4. press and hold the back button (which will power your phone on in flash mode) and connect the USB cable to pc.
SEUS should now say "stop pressing back button" or something to that effect.

Guys, i managed to install Astro File Manager over the air! i did install a few apps to my comp & then to my phone using AFM but not all apps are available to install on the comp! thats the reason i needed Android Market on my phone.

Can you clarify, did you get into flash mode for it to install the drivers?
I re-installed SEUS. then I started SEUS, switched off my phone for 30 secs, connected USB cable to computer, then connected USB cable to phone while pressing the back button & kept pressing the back button until the phone got switched ON.
then SEUS asked me to open Notification bar & turn ON USB. i left the back button & did the same. then the screen showed "X10i connected" & your phone is up to date!
then i tried whatever you had mentioned but it was of no use as mentioned in my post above.
Also, SEUS detects my phone only 1 out of 5 times. the remaining times, it takes soooooo long that i have to abort the process & SEUS hangs!
Also, i have noticed that in my SEUS, in the phone models where you have to select your phone, there are two options, both which look like an X10 with names "X10" & "SO-01B". which one should i select? i tried with X10 but failed. then i tried with SO-01B & it dint detect.
You problem is that seus is not detecting your device..
Soln... User a laptop with win xp or vista or 7 32 bit...
Do a complete uninstall of seus. Clean the registry of any seus entries..
Reinstall seus..
Use a different usb port.
Now try..
The device is an x10 unless you your it from japan which if the case is then it is the so-o1.
If you want dump of indian firmware I can help you but I dont think a dump will be of much use to
You..

Can you tell me the disadvantages of having the Indian firmware when compared to the UK one?
I read that even Indian firmware has Android market & even India is getting a upgrade to Android 2.1 along with UK.
I tried using SEUS with different USB port & my phone was detected but again i found no DEVICE ID! the same thing happened which i have written in Post #14.

[Q] Bricked after attempting to upgrade to 2.3.5... HELP PLEASE

Hello, I am a newbie Android user and I have been exploring the greatness of the OS for few days now.
Just now I tried to update my firmware to 2.3.5 and followed instruction from a non-xda developer site and little did I know, it messed up my phone big time.
While I was loading all the files (CSC, tar, modem, etc), and I should've known better when the site told me to check the "re partition" box, but I was stupid enough to go along with it.
So Odin got stuck at re-writing the modem or something like that and I had to pull out the battery from the phone.
Now the phone turns on only in recovery mode and none of the recovery choices work, if I choose one it just shows a little green android with white bordered triangle with an orange exclamation mark in the middle.
I can still access the download mode by using conventional button pressing method, but my phone is NO LONGER RECOGNIZED through the USB so I cannot flash the old stock firmware...
Is there a fix for this? If anyone can help me resolve this issue I am willing to compensate very well in return...
Thank you so much for reading my convoluted troubled story, and I really hope to find some resolution in your wisdom.

Ah I see. Could you please help me understand what you mean by "open keyboard?" I just don't see how I could open keyboard on my SGS2 when it isn't recognized by my computer... If you could clarify what you mean by that it will be really appreciated!
So from your information provided, you have a stock recovery and your phone is semi-bricked. You can still boot and your computer won't recognize your phone.
Do you have a jig? What firmware did you flash? You could use a jig to reset the flash counter on the phone and return it for warranty saying that Kies messed up while upgrading firmware. If you've flashed the KI3 with the new bootloader then the jig won't be able to clear the flash counter.
EDIT: Maybe an experienced senior member might come and look at this thread and provide some other solution. Do wait!
EDIT2: Try reinstalling Kies and the drivers. Don't give up just yet!

I don't think that the guide he posted is particularly for galaxy s2 because he also mentioned a trackball...
but if you can go the settings he mentioned you might find something and lead you.
And if you decide to bring the phone to samsung you might want to have a read at Intratechs Official firmware
thread in (Original Android Development)there you can find a bootloader that you can flash so you can use the jig to reset the counter
edit: wow I also failed to read that your computer can't recognise your phone
anymore....
Have you tried to delete the samsung drivers when you go to
your hardware settings?? and let windows find it's drivers again?
Not sure if this will help. I read somewhere someone else with their PC not really recognizing the phone. Someone else advised to unplug the phone and remove the battery then connect to PC insert battery and put it into download mode.
I could be wrong with the method. Its just from my memory.
Also this may make no difference but maybe removing the sim and SD card. Someone will probably call me stupid for suggesting that though.
I wouldn't try that unbrick method mate. That looks like it is an unroot for an old phone..possible the G1 (AKA HTC Dream).
Thanks for all the help... I have been trying to uninstall the driver and reinstall it but no luck. If I could just get the phone to be recognized I think I will be fine, but I just don't know what to do
Thank you for all the suggestions, please keep them coming!
EDIT: this is the guide I used that messed up my phone.. http://androidflip.com/install-andr...-samsung-galaxy-s2-gt-i9100-installing-guide/
EDIT: Tried to reinstall KIES, no luck. It's like there's nothing on the other side of the USB cord... Not even a sound when I plug the phone in...
If it had been via XDA the instructions are do not do what they are saying .
In Odin Select Re-Partition , Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time
In Odin select these files
For PIT select u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit
BIG BIG NO to the above .
As usual some stuff ripped from XDA and some from elsewhere .
My suggestion would be one buy USB jig it hopefully will clear the rom counter and enter download mode .
two in recovery mode go to mounts and storage and format cache data dalvik system and sd card .
Clean phone with nothing on it .Flash stock firmware .

I am not sure if this will help but you might want to have a try. I got this
from a Dutch website. I google translated it for you and hoping you wont
have trouble reading it. This is one of the guides posted when some of us
here couldn't connect our phone with the usb cable.

Thanks, I tried to do this but unfortunately the problem persists... What do you think the root of the problem is? I just dont' get it why it won't be recognized anymore.. I feel like I could easily get it to work if I could just get it to become recognized to flash stock firmware....
EDIT: JJE, I would turn it into the service place but I have custom rom count of 4 And I don't have any USB jigs to work with either.... I am still within the 15 days of the phone purchase day, would they be willing to swap my phone?
BUMP, any input would be appreciated...

[Q] graghic problem p7500

hi guys
i have very very big problem so cant do anything now!!
first week when i bought tab 10.1(3g+ wifi) , i get root with this
warning : don't use this any way : warning
this way very easy : without any change copy this to tab & let it from recovery mode
everything goes very well until i Decide to install cmw , busybox
in this time's so tab let graphic problem
of course with install a rom (P7500JPKL2_P7500OJPLB1_P7500XXKL3_HOME.tar.md5)
only graphic problem resolve
since yesterday i decided to change everything
told me :install stock rom & install cmw , reroot , busybox & ...
go stock rom (P7500OXAKI1_P7500XXKI1_P7500XXKI1_HOME.tar.md5)
after install this everything was bad
now i have graphic problem in boot , download mode , recovery ,... every where
of course i can install rom hard (with problem can sense where are you)
but with both of rom not changed
i realize problem is rooted then to make change with change the rom
it seems the problem is software
how can re wright everything as first (boot loader , rom , ...)
please help me
sorry fo bad english
regards.
I can hardly understand that... But if you want to go stock go to SamMobile.com and go to the firmware section.. Once there use the search option and look for p7500, choose a stock Rom from the list and download..
Once done, install Kies to get the drivers, with drivers installed put the tablet in Odin mode (turn it off then press volume down+power) select the download mode and connect the tablet to the computer.
Once done, open Odin and don't change any option there.. Go to pda and select the file you downloaded from SamMobile and Press start..
That's it

Over in the development thread there is this... little bit over my head, but have a like at it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16058447
The only problem with that link you posted is that you'll need working Android OS, so you would still need to get your Tab up and running again. Also from what I've read in that link its not an Ubuntu os that runs natively on our Tabs. It sounds like it just uses your device as a host or something, it only boots up when your device is docked to a computer and uses its screen, keyboard and mouse.

Actually you just have to connect it on a screen with HDMI. No need for a computer. Somehow Ubuntu takes over when it detects HDMI out from the dock. It has to be a pretty decent device though. At least dual core and one gigabyte ram... Oh well, we just have to wait until canonical releases it!

I showed the device to serviceman & he said me fee's between 80-90$
sorry for bad english
thank again.
Im really concerned... ir you are not able to read or write english and can not even get your tab back to stock how in hell did you went through flashing ubuntu to a tablet , also managed to blow up your bootloader doing so... why in hell do you even need ubuntu on a tablet? there's no app store and it's glitchy as hell... Also no hwa and no 3g modem only wifi.... If you manage to get to Odin mode follow the instructions I gave you or go pay your 90$ for repairings and for God sake stay away from modifying ANY device until you can properly read English and follow instructions....
may I ask you where are you from? If you talk Spanish you can pm me and I can help you better

1.- press power + volume down until the tablet turns on into bootloader and move to downloading with volume down... Once you are in downloading press volume up and you will be in Odin mode. (look at reference image at bottom)
2.-download samsung Kies here and install to get the drivers
3.-download samsung stock rom here search for P7500 and get a rom according to your country/region once downloaded unzip it
4.-get Odin here
5.-connect your tablet to pc (check your usb wire its good and use a back motherboard usb port) , open Odin and Press PDA, in PDA put the file you downloaded from sammobile and unziped then Press start (do not change any Odin's options from the check boxes)
6.-wait until process finish and then you are back to stock close Odin and by this time the tablet should be rebooting.
if you are not able to recover your tab with all this then go pay

[Q] Help with bricked tablet

Hello everyone,
I was trying to launch fastboot but instead of that (I'm not the smartest I guess), I did a full destroy of the system (I think I pressed the power button more than 3 times then got a message telling me to press POW+VOL DOWN to destroy the system, which I did )
Now, when I try to start the tablet, I get nothing but a the red button on. Under windows, it's not detected and the drivers don't install, all I have is :
"other devices ==> APX" in my device manager.
Can someone help me revive the tablet (if it's still possible)?
Thanks!!!

Same happened to me and I panicked. I solved it with this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458876
After that, you can do all the necessary pugrades, etc, for CM10 A4 and get your folio working again

Thanks for your help, I have read the whole post and have managed to revive the tablet thanks to NVflash. I used the 16g version as the tablet is a 16g, but I'm stuck to CWM v0.3 and it seems there's nothing I can install under there. Where did you go from there, did you use fastboot to load another rom? Nothing will install under CWM which is making me confused...
Thanks again for your help!!

Really Trouble With FIRMWARE!

I'm really in trouble!
I have installed firmware 4.0.25 but unfortunately it does not work on my device (Why? I don't know! and Archos support center don't answer me after 3 times asking!!)
My device hang on Archos logo on startup. I try to downgrade it to older version by choosing "Update Firmware" on "Archos A80S Recovery" menu but it show me: "Update Failed: (221)"
I also try to get help from SDE firmware but it show me that message (Update failed) again!
What can I do? I'm so desperate!

What are you developing? If you only made thus topic for the issue, it wuold belong to general.
Try formatting the whole device from recovery (wipes android os, data and internalsd) and then installing the 4.0.7. Also, keep 4.0.25 in hand, if 4.0.7 fails.
