since you currently have a running winmo 6.5 rom, you could in theory flash hspl, then the radio, and then the magldr flash (in that order) whilst winmo is running, meaning you wouldn't have to use the voldown button to enter bootloader.
BUT BUTBUTBUTBUT, ,
once you flash magldr (or cLK) there will no longer be a winmo rom to flash from, and since the ONLY other way to flash anything, task29, radio, magldr, stock roms, other winmo roms, hspl etcetera, requires teh voldown button, you would be stuck. And what if the magldr flash doesn't take properly? fairly often people find they have to reinstall magldr for one reason or another,, you couldn't, because you couldn't enter bootlaoder.
You would get no second chance, it would be one-shot, all-or-nothing , and i'd lay 50:50 on you ending up with a phone stuck with no rom, and no way to flash one without vol-down.
My advice would be to stay a long way away from flashing and just use haret to run sd card versions of android.

Hi and thanks for your reply, very usful info as if i didnt know that i proberly would of ended up going ahead and flashing my phone sooner or later, now that i know that ill stay away from that end of it.
So how do i go about using haret to run sd card versions of android, and is it just the same as using android but just running it from my SD card.
Thanks for your advice

i did abit of lookin about i think i get the gist of it, just a couple of questions, i only have a 2GB memory card do i need to get a bigger one, and my radio is xx.x51.x is that compatible ? thanks

Sorry i never had any success using sd android, (but it was a good long time ago) so i cant really help., however i know that 2gb will be fine at least till you know what youre doing,
The usual advice really, read as much as you can.

Ok thanks, ive just updated my radio so now running a new version so think im gonna give it a try, thanks again

Can't get out of Bootloader

Hi Guys,
I am seriously hoping someone can help me out with this little issue. I'm in the Wallaby Bootloader v5.17. I have an XDA 1 and for the life of me can't seem to work out how to get out of it and back into the OS?? I have tried hard resetting it, soft resetting it only about 100 times, if I hard reset it and leave it for a minute then it won't come back on and then as soon as I put it back in the cradle the good 'ol boot loader comes back up!? I have tried holding the power button up the top of it and the pressing the soft and hard reset buttons (at different times and the same time!!)
Gone through a fair few menu's on it, ran tests, everything seems fine, just simply cannot get out of this bootloader..!??!
Any idea's?
Thanks heaps for any help in advance!
can't you do an upgrade or upgrade with same rom or maybe even try an upgrade without actual new rom present ?
I think you have to reflash xour device using sd-card. Instruction could be found here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby_HT_FlashSD
Stefan
It would seem that you need a ROM for this to work, and that it needs to be put onto an SD card before putting it back into the PC... this would mean a couple of things, firstly that you need another SD Card reader/writery thingy .... and that you need to actually get a ROM from somewhere... Have never done this before either so I have no idea where to go looking for one!! Any help?!?
It there a combination of buttons to press just to be able to boot back into Windows CE that I haven't tried yet?
You can download a rom from the link after this text, there is no other way out of bootloader unless you have a key jammed and is causing the problem,. When you cook a rom choose sd card flashing at the base of screen, yes you will need a card reader/writer and a memory card of at least 64 megs.

I tried to do DCD's upgrade method to get me GPS and what not, and I got stuck at #3

2. Update your Hard-SPL to 2.40-olipro
3. Flash new ROM
4. Flash new Radio
5. Reprogram PST settings from earlier if necessary.

THEN when it was restarting it froze at the sprint splash. so i reset, and still it froze. I tried doing a hard reset and I tried the power+camera+reset combo with the stylus in
ahhhhh! please please any help is appreciated
TIA
Power+Camera then SoftReset, Just press the reset button while the power and camera are both pressed down and let them go and then the boot loader should show up
ahghhh! okay i did that and got the lovely bootloader
i hate to be retarded sounding but what next?
THANKS for your help its greatly appreciated!
OKay i tried to continue but now it says NO RADIO under the sprint logo! ahh its getting worse?
edit: of course now i can still get into the bootloader though, so what to dooo
if its of any help the bootloader says:
TITA100 MFG
SPL-2.40 Olipro
CPLD 9
u said u loaded the radio in there right, well if so go head and load the dcd rom in there now, if u dont have either go do the radio, then it will restart then freezes again if that happens do the power, camera and reset button thing and load the dcd rom then after that it will load fine
No radio means no radio. Install the full blown 3.16 to get it all, then install DCD's rom if you want.
heres a small idea. it might just work.

Load the image on a Fat 32 sd card, name TITAIMG and soft reset to BL, It works every time.

Don't be an effing jerk... Posts like are a waste of space* and should be considered "clutter"
At any rate... I myself had this same issue so I just tell you what I did. As you have already done, when it freezes on the splash screen, enter the bootloader. I had an issue where my pc didnt recognize my device anymore, but I was able to find an app (here on xda) that stopped Activesync. Once I did that I was able to flash a diffrent rom and start over (I used dcd's 1.6.10 Sprint)
When starting over go very slow making sure not to overlook any step. Start with http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=16806 flash it
Then flash dcd's 2.0 beta.
I'm going to be honest, between being stuck in bootloader, frozen splash screen, reading an ungodly amount of useless posts* and listening to my girlfriend tell me to "Marry the effin phone" the whole thing took me about 10 hours. So if this helps great, let me know
Load radio and os rom from micro sd!
Ok, for all sprint users that are stuck because you loaded a cooked rom without loading the correct radio first. Or you have some how overwritten the radio rom, dont ask me how I did it but i did.
Here it the fix!
I was running the 2.40 Olipro boot loader when I preformed these steps. I do not know if they will work with other boot loaders.
download the Official 3.25 rom from HTC. ftp://Mogulrom:[email protected]_RS_TITAN_3.35.04_4350H_SPCS_AM_Ship.exe
Use winrar to unpackages it.
Format a microsd card as FAT32.
Copy Special_4350.nbh, and RUU_signed.nbh from the unpackaged 3.25 rom to the freshly FAT32 formated microsd. Rename "Special_4350.nbh" to "TITA100.nhb. Rename "RUU_signed.nbh" to "TITAIMG.nbh". Inset the microsd. Put device in bootloader mode, press and hold both power, and camera then softreset while holding the buttons. Follow on screen instruction from boot loader mode.
Hope this helps...

Help!!! "downgrading" to stock rom. Help!!!

hey guys i'm in the middle of russia at the moment on holidays seeing some family and ive decided to give my old hermes to my uncle however he doesnt understand english so i;ve been trying to put a stock russian rom on (one i found on xda wiki) as i have a cooked rom on there it wont let me downgrade now i know theres a different approach to stock roms than cooked roms but ive never tempered with them always put cooked roms on my hermes, diamond, and my current phone the HD. The internet is ridiculously slow with its 2g connection. so i've tried searching buts its taking me hours as opposed to 10 minuets.
info that might help.
i'm using vista (english) as opposed to xp or windows 7 that i usually use to do this.
the rom on there at the moment is "yahr" by marpelo
radio 1.54.30.10
any help would be appreciated i'm sure its simple fix.
note the rom is playing up at the moment and sometimes tends to loose connection when in tri colour screen, now it culd be due to me using the wrong approach or the phones playing up.
again thanks for the help
Install Hard SPL V7 then use sd card method to flash rom.
Just make sure sd card is smaller than 2Gb. You can also flash Hard SPL this way. Go to the Hard SPL thread at the top of the upgrading list of posts...
Cheers...
thanks bud i will give it a go will let you know how it goes. i'm gonna try with out the sd card as i dont have one and have to buy one from "a bigger town" i told you middle of no where lol.
so i tired running it through a usb connection to no success as it drops connection when in bootloader. tried of a memory card it flashes a split second loading rom screen after the bootloader and its long enough to see no image found and returns to bootloader. i've tried renaming the file as per wiki xda instructions. at a complete loss. any ideas? let me know if theres any more info you need. Thank you great minds of xda.

HTC Fuze not booting at all (struck at ATT boot screen)

Hi All,
I flashed my HTC Fuze with the below ROM
Calkulin's Visual HTC Kitchen v4 for Touch Pro and my mobile is dead now. I missed to unlock the phone before running this update (although very clearly mentioned in the instructions )
Since the mobile is not booting I am not able to flash it with any other ROM or revert back what I did. Computer does not recognize the mobile through ActiveSync. I tried resetting the mobile (Power button + volume down button + OK button), it even says restoring to factory settings, but after restart still hangs at the AT&T screen.
Can anyone please help me out here or I need to take my phone to AT&T service, but that would be the last thing to do as I think the warranty is void with this tampering.
Well, I'm pretty sure that Calkulin cooks for the Herman (aka cdma touch pro). This is your problem (and maybe not your only one).
Flash a stock rom off your sd card.
Edit: Wow, that link takes you to the cdma Diamond forum at ppcgeeks. What were you thinking?
Thanks a lot Ted...!
Thanks a lot Ted. You are my "knight in shining armor". Atleast I have some hope, I think
You just said "Flash a stock rom off your sd card.". Can you please let me know or direct me to a post that tells how to flash rom off the sd card? I am however searching for the best fit for my set.
Also, I think i need to search for an appropriate ROM for my fuze this time.
Thanks again.
Um yeah...you might've just bricked your phone. Your best bet is trying to reflash your phone with an OEM ROM via a MicroSD card, then going to one of the cooked GSM roms on this forum.
Look at the stickied threads in this forum for the procedure and links to an ATT rom.
If that doesn't work, you could try going to an ATT store and playing dumb...there's a small chance they'll replace it under warranty if it hasn't expired yet. If all else fails...you might be able to score a fuze from ebay on the cheap...I'm sure there's a lot of people upgrading to touch pro 2.
Thanks for your reply.
streetlight22 and Ted, Thanks for your reply. I will try this today. Keeping my fingers crossed . If this works, I would be happier than ever (not because I could save some bucks.. but because I love my fuze and can't see it dying).
Every where the step says "renaming the ROM nbh file to RAPHIMG.nbh or something like that. I am wondering if I also need to rename the .nbh file to something before running the update.
The rom image will be named ruu_signed.nbh (if it's a custom rom) or something longer if it's a stock rom. You should try a stock ATT rom image. Just rename it, stick it on the root of your sd card (must be FAT32), and see if you can go into bootloader. If you can't get into bootloader, you're screwed. Remember to hold volume down for several seconds after soft resetting. Press it down before soft resetting. If the tri-color screen doesn't appear, you're in trouble. It should appear briefly, then go grey with a message like 'loading image,' then it will tell you to push power. But if you flashed a diamond cdma rom, you may have totally screwed things up. Most people seem to recover from cdma touch pro roms, but if it's from a different device, you may be screwed.
Hi, if the tri colour screen appears you can try flashing trough your PC, it should find new hardware (htc hot sync or similar), then there should be USB written in the lowest part, then you can flash watever you want from the PC in the manner you are used to.
It worked.. it worked.. my fuze is now up and running WM 6.1. Thanks to all...! Special thanks to Ted for his quick reply and the tip "Remember to hold volume down for several seconds after soft resetting. Press it down before soft resetting". This is what I was not trying inorder to connect fuze with my laptop. My set is back to normal, up and running cool...
Once again thanks to everybody. xda-developers is really really a life saver . Great job guys, keep going...keep helping newbies like us.... we really need u

[Q] Completely restore stock T-Mobile ROM and everything?

I've been searching on how to completely restore my (T-Mobile) HD2 on this forum for a while and haven't came to it, so sorry if I'm repeating any threads.
Basically I'm fairly novice in flashing and things in that nature. I've been flashing updating Energy ROMs on my HD2 for about six months since I got the phone. Which was fairly simple to do. Since WP7 ROMs, I've switched over to flashing those. The problem is that 99%, it'll flash fine, then won't get past the boot screen. And on the rare occasion it does get past it, I can't turn it off, or else I'll have to trying getting past the screen 1000 more times to be successful. I think I have all the requirements to run WP7, but not exactly sure.
So I would like to know what to download and flash/ install for it to be as if I bought this from T-Mobile today.
Thanks!
I need help with this too..I craked my screen and am going to send it to t-Mobile so they can send me a new one, but I want to put it to factory reset. Ive looked all over cant find them...the post a couple up...links are dead
you do realize that if you cracked your screen your warranty is already void. it doesn't matter what software you are running at this point.

Sorry for MY late reply, but I put this phone away for a while and now my dad wants to use it. I've gone though the steps, but I can't get past "6. Hold the volume down key and power on your phone. As soon as the coloured screen changes to grey, RELEASE volume down." It never turns grey. I'm one step from taking this phone and throwing it out my window to see it shatter.

I have done a dozen of flashings on my Tmobile HD2 and works fine so far. Thanks to XDA forum all the tools I need are available right here on XDA !!! You just to search them out yourself (sorry I don't have the links ....... ).
I suppose you know how to flash your phone so I will not explain details how to do it.
In brief, to install WP7 this is what I suggest you should do -
1. Update flash radio to the latest available update from Tmobile US website, regardless of what ROM you have at present (version 2.15.50.14 is the latest, I think).
2. Flash HSPL 2.08 to your phone to maximize 576 RAM usage, if you have it (do not use SPL 2.08.000 as this will recognize only 448 RAM size).
2. Use Task29 to clean out the existing the existing ROM on your phone (this will erase your OS and you will only be booting on the white HTC logo screen). This will clear out those ROM leftovers on your phone.
3. Flash magdlr 1.12 or 1.13 on your phone (press power button on boot to show magdlr menu).
4. On magdlr menu scroll down to no.5 USB flasher, connect your phone to pc and run dwi.exe on your WP7 installer and wait till installation has completed.
I have done these procedures a dozen times already I have not encountered problems so far. I have been flashing and flashing to choose the best ROM (WP7 or WM6.5.x) I want. On personal note, I think I would settle for WM6.5.x cooked ROMs because of usability and handiness (I find WP7 too complicated to deal in terms of tweaks and handling of personal videos/photos file security).
Some notes:
a. You need to flash radio and HSPL only once.
b. Use Task29 every time you need to install a new ROM (your choice, but recommended).
c. After Task29 you can start out clean and flash to stock ROM or any other rom you choose.
d. There are dozens of videos on YouTube to help you flash but I have not seen one using Task29 to start the process of flashing.
This works for me, hope it does to you as well. Good luck !!!
