Figured out my Problem Thanks.
For aRoot, I just kept fiddling every day for like 3 days, and it finally worked randomly. Just the combination of debugging and which connection, and the order leading up to it toggled.

Have you enabled usb debugging? Its under settings applications development. did you make sure your phone is set to none under the the usb connection? Lastly did you run the adb prior to the install? Make sure all of those are done...i have limited knowledge myself but hopefully this helps.
Edit: just curious why did you need to flash sbf if you were unable to do anything you mentioned?

I have tried fiddling with gingerblur adeo superroot and aroot for days. I even exchanged my phone once and tried it on 3 computers. Still no luck. It has to be something i am missing or doing wrong. Superroot says it is waiting for device then freezes. aRoot and Gingerblur will says "achieving temporary root then scroll through a whole bunch of stuff and then says rebooting." and the phone never does anything at all.

I have enabled usb debugging and i think adb is running do i have to do something special to make it run?
Not sure, when I used aRoot I didn't use adb.

I run a windows box and in the files that are downloaded for aroot there is an adb file...i just doubled clicked it prior to the install file.

Just click on the file you downloaded. I think it was Run aRoot.
Just starts the dialog for you.

are you sure you are extracting these files out? and not trying to run them from their zip/7z archives?

Yeah, there is something fiddly about achieving root first... once you achieve it, shell root is a breeze.
I had to fiddle with it for a while. Had to do with toggling debugging at the right moment during the root process. Don't remember when, but one of the longer steps. Presumably at or right before it freezes for you. Try toggling off -> on (or on -> off and back).
Connection mode needs to be "None", after you ran through all the connection modes, so your PC has all the necessary drivers installed.
I want to root my Motorola Photon. I have been reading many posts on different rooting methods and I'm confused on all these methods. Of course, the dockless method sounds like the best since I don't have the dock. Can someone who is more experienced in rooting please tell me what is the best or easiest way to root the phone? Does anyone have a good step by step thread or website I can use? Any help would be great!
Shabby has a thread in the dev section which is one click. I am happy to help. What exactly are you confused about?

Thank you for your reply! I got my Photon the other day. I need to know what to do to root it. What do I have to download or do to root it? Yeah, I'm new at rooting. I tried the Z4 Root app but it don't work on Gingerbread.

This thread here offers the 'once-click-root' for our device. What operating system are you on? I'll assume windows. If so download the zip file as well as the appropriate drivers and then just run the bat file.
I downloaded the drivers and the zipped Photon OCR file. I installed the drivers. Do I put the zipped file on the SD card or do I run one of the files with the phone plugged in to my computer?

I ran the root batch file. It went through the process and said I should have root but I don't. I tried it a second time and got the same thing. How do I get the root access?
Check your drivers and try again. There's also the torpedo root method.

How do I do the torpedo method? I do have the torpedo tar file on my desktop
The instructions are here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216131 in the Dev section.

I will be making a video on how to root using the most of the methods tonight. It won't be done and edited until late tonight but I will definitely get one up! That way we can aleviate some of these threads and issues people are having.

Man...I downloaded many apps and tried different prompts in the thread. I am lost!!!! Is there anyone I can call for tech support? I'm trying to get this to work and I'm not having any luck. I guess I'm about as noob as noob can be! Is there a youtube vid anywhere?
um i think he was making a comment towards calling someone on here to help him with it.
i honestly dont understand the issue with so many people not being able to root... yall have a root that is far easier then the nexus s 4g (i should know i wrote the one click for that phone too)
Here is shabbypenguins one click root that worked very easy.
anyways without further waiting here it is
Download
Drivers in case you need em
32-Bit 64-Bit
driver mirrors
Download and install the drivers. Download and extract the one click root to your desk top.
Run the one click root from the folder you extracted to your desk top. After 3 reboots you should be rooted.
Make sure when you plug your phone into your computer you select charging only in the notification pull down.
If it don't root your phone the first time try it again, some people reported having to do it twice.

This may be a stupid question, but does it completely wipe your phone when you root it?
I'm close. I did it 4 times and no go. I attached a screenshot on the info. Could it be the phone resetting itself twice during the process?

Try turning the phone off then on.make sure you have the drivers installed. Try reinstalling them if you do them try again. Make sure USB debugging us checked on your phone under menu/settings/applications/development. And when you plug in your phone to your computer in the notification pull down make sure to check charge only.

I also had no luck with various programs out there. If you still can't get things working with the other suggestions above, try this:

Just make sure to read the whole thread as there are some helpful suggestions from others users on what worked for them, and some updates to the OP.
Worked on my xt912 (CDMA razr)
Got root back using mattlgroff's "Root Fixer"

Thanks Mattlegroff please make sure to thank his post
Don't disconnect your phone it will reboot a couple times make sure you have a full battery to be safe
1. Get your drivers (i use "pdanet" to get my drivers)
Motorola:https://motorola-global-portal.custh...ail/a_id/88481
PdaNet:http://junefabrics.com/android/download.php
2. Enable USB debugging ("Settings"> "Developer options"> Check of "USB debugging" (Under "Debugging" section)
3. Connect your phone to your computer if not connected already
5. Unzip Mattlegroff's "RestoreToot.zip"
6. Run "FixRoot.bat" it should run automatically but you may have to press a key
7. Once your done and it notifies you by saying "0" and some more text
It doesn't always say 0 just FYI... I lost root when I went to JB even after following all the directions to the letter and I ran the tool, did not observe any 0 but downloaded Root Checker from Market and I had full root again.

Make sure you got the drivers and usb debugging is on if they are try this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101369
Hmm, if you don't get a status 0 and are just going by OTA Rootkeeper then i'd try "su" in terminal emulator just to make sure.
Edit - Dan Rosenberg has found an exploit for JB OTA over at droidrzr
I apologize in advance if this is a noob question but do I need to have Android adb installed on my Mac to use this rooting method? This seems almost too simple to be true. Thanks.

Hello, I have a lg optimus l9 p769 runninc ics 4.0.4 its V10g and i need rooting assistance. I have tried many rooting software but none are working. I tried superoneclick, z4root and many more. I recently tried Root With Restore by Bin4ry and i tried both Runme.bat and Runme_L9.bat when i run as an admin, and i press root, it gives me all errors, when i run normally, I get to the part where im supposed to press restore on my phone, and when i press it it says "restoring..." and three seconds it says restore complete and it doesnt reboot or anything.
Unfortunately I'm a super noob at this stuff, I dont need root to flash roms i need it for apps.
If im doing anything wrong please inform me, I read in places that you have to unlock bootloader and stuff but i dont know what or how.
It'd be great if someone could post some steps and guidance.
Thanks

Please read few threads before posting new thread. It is not practical for us to reply every newcomer to ask for reading.
I've already looked at all those forums. I'm not concerned with flashing ROMS. All I need is simple root access and I've tried all the methods yet to no avail. If I can get cwm recovery without root and then flash the root. Zip file it might work but I can't find any forum that explains it.

Also I got really close with root with restore. Only problem was that my phone says Restoring... Then 3 secs later it says restore complete. No reboot no nothing. Any thoughts?

On P769 V10G, You cannot use old rooting method from Bin4ry, it only for some model and version (most 10A, 10B, 10C). You can only root your phone with cmahendra guide. And there are no easy one-click method to rooting our phone for now.
Ok I'll try that method. Thanks

The commands written in your guide won't work. I ran as an administrator but it says 'C:\' isn't a internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

this doesn't always work, but try moving the files to a different drive and replace c:/ with whatever the drive letter is. otherwise, wait till we get jelly bean and use that one click method.
Alright ill try that. Btw do you know when jb will come out for our phone?
