Well i find it Super intereting to modify and loading android onto the touch pad, but i have a asus TF, Works great, Love it.. but wondering would it be worth the hassle just to have a new toy to play with (mearly jut that reason)
i think a Bestbuy 40miles away may have a new shippment in today. but debating weather to go and buy 3 (me, mother, step dad) what your thoughts about this?
I think a better question is, can you find a Touchpad to buy? If you get one, you will definately be happy with the purchase. And if not, there are plenty of us out here that will be more than willing to take it off your hands.

sounds good i would say yes and they is plenty of people who would take it off your hands
You should definitely buy at the PRICE at least for the hardware
yea i know the hardware veiw point im like "what for $99!!" but currently waiting to find as rumor has it.. new sale is bound to happen soon, ( as i read from many forum posts) but i think if i do I will buy it.. but i wont be heart broken if i dont...
Don't forget that if you get a TouchPad, you can also register for 50GB free storage at Box.net (you have to do it via the app on the TouchPad). Depending on what your storage habits and needs are, that might be worth taking into account.
I would say you should not buy it just so I have a better chance of getting another
Why do you need another tablet? That'd be my consideration.

IF you can find one, buy it. Worst case someone will buy it from you if you don't like it.
Also I think Best Buy will limit you to one per customer, at least that's what one employee said his store was going to do.
well thismorning the local bb got a shipment and it was gone before i got there at 10am. Didnt think people of brownsville knew... :| but i think ill give up. Causeyeaidont need another tab, but wanted touse and play with it, moding hacking..etc. , i ill only by if i stumple on a online sale, but i now wont go out my way to buy one, good luck to all on getting a touchpad

one for development/hacking, one for useage. i assumed that would be obvious
I didn't see any reason not to buy it. If you can find one the are practically giving them away. I have a Xoom and love it but I can never have too many toys. Got one at Aarons rents yesterday.

The process I went through to figure out if a TP was really a good buy was to figure out what exactly I needed it for. I just can't justify spending $400-600 on a tablet that's not going to fill an integral part of my technology needs, but $100-200 (depending on size/shipping/etc) is a reasonable amount for me, even if Android never gets ported to it.
The UI is attractive, and there are enough games and apps that I could let my 3 year old play with it while supervised and it wouldn't be the end of the world if something happened to it.
While your situation is likely different, hopefully there is a bit of insight into my personal decision making process in deciding if a TP was a good value or not.
Of course you should buy it...then flip it for 2-3x the price. Then put that money towards an iPad. Then jailbreak and hack to your heart's content and/or develop apps for a viable market.
Then sell the iPad for near full retail right before the next iteration drops and either buy the newest version or three Nook Colors for your family members.

He wants to tinker around on android but he already has a transformer and you think his mother and step dad want to develop on a dead platform?
How are they going to use it? Browse the web one tab at a time? Read e-books with the broken app? Play movies on the gimped player? My guess is you don't actually have one.
My advise is not only solid but it's based on experience with all of the devices in question. But perhaps his parents are xda members
well i know they wont develop on this, i had mentioned to them its a tablet and if they wanted one they can get one (if found) for $100, i told her to look at youtube reviews about the TP, she liked and wanted one.. i wasnt one to mod, toy, develop, and since its not bad hardware. and i dont want to turn around and sell for $250 as i have seen on Craigslist.
we mainly want one due to the firesale Price of $99, but i am unablet to find one so i dont think i will get one. i am no noob when it comes to electronics and software. i wouldnt get a ios device since i dont like the feel of ios, nor apple software. android is nice love it, webos, havent really had enough time to play with it but seemed to be promising if HP let it grow more.nook color is a nice toy, but not really my flavor, now i think ill retire my TF (for modding)when TF2 comes out (Kal-El) platform, so yea

Amazon is coming out with what will probably be a cheaper android tablet soon
To the OP: I hope you find what you are looking for though from your previous comment above. You seemed to thought things through at least
Pending on buying.. worth it?
The only reason why I'm even considering buying this is because I saw that android will be able to hopefully run on this and id like to see honeycomb as well as ubuntu on this and the price has become cheaper. I know you all here have it so i was wondering your personal opinions on the device.

Hannspad or HP Touchpad?
Hello!
Lately I have been looking at the Hannspad, but since the kernel hasn't been released I assume that the custom roms aren't as good as they could be (or am I wrong?).
So I was looking at the HP Touchpad instead, which has very nice specs (better than Hannspad? 1GB Ram & 1.2GHz snap, 10 point touch! Better price) and Android development for it is slowly starting for it, 2.3.5 is working and I hope they'll get it functional soon!
So what are your thoughts? Should I look at the Touchpad and see how development goes over the next three weeks or get the Hannspad ?
I'll buy in the beginning of next month, and I'd like to have a somewhat functional tablet, so what are your thoughts? Will the HP ever get ported so good, that it'll work 100%? How about hardware accel.
Thank you <3

Hey guys. Just wondering if anyone feels sort of the same way as me.
I spent around $650 USD and waited 3 months (from when the official international UK version was released) to purchase the S2 from overseas. Now the phone is going to become released in the U.S.
A part of me feels sort of disappointed and excited, yet I should be very happy now that it is available here (finally!!!). I guess I just wanted a phone where it wasn't too popular in the states. A part of spending a large amount of money (with no binding contract to a carrier) gave me a sense of uniqueness in that I was "one of few" to actually have this phone. Also, the forums here are quite valuable with so many users that I feel like I am part of a special S2 community...but with the announcement of this phone in the U.S., it seems like everyone "else" (yes, all the "other" people... you name it, they've got it) would eventually have it. I guess you can't help but wonder how special your phone is, heh.
I suppose I like to have electronic devices that is rare. Thus, when someone sees you off the street holding a S2, their impression would be like "Woah. That is cool. What is that?" But I guess in a few months, people would be more like "Is that the S2? Here's mine, too. And all my friends have it!"
Anyone feel the same way, heh?
Cool story bro.

Not much in a way, people still keep thinking it's an iPhone which makes me giggle lol. You still have the uniqueness factor since the phone looks physically different from the variants.
I'm pretty much like that too, I usually had the odd phone that nobody even knew the name. I always tell my friends about how iPhone is like a DVD player, everyone has one and knows how to operate it and I was thinking in the same line about the SGS2 since you can buy it off the cell company. This wasn't like that last year, you couldn't even find any android phones, we have a huge blackberry market and quickly diving. But the SGS2 is an android phone, that means you can have any UI, on iPhone you have iOS and works the way apple wants it to work and that's it, with the SGS2 it'll be different, you have TouchWiz as a default interface, and you can also have ADW, LauncherPro etc, you can even have MIUI on it, then it comes the millions of roms that we have and will have more coming as soon as SGS2 starts selling in the US. Now think about the people that are square headed that don't even know what ROOT is and don't even care about it, if they try to use your phone and you don't have TouchWiz it will be like a windows fan using linux, he/she will know is the same phone but won't be able to use it as easy as theirs. And you have widgets and all the customization on the different launchers.
I know what you're going tru lol
So to sum up, you chose a phone because you wanted to stroke your own ego with your "sense of uniqueness" and impress your "friends", and are now disappointed because other people will spoil your unique user experience by having the temerity to get a similar device.
Poor little thing. Just wait until the next Shiny New Thing, buy it, bask in your own smugness and find another forum to tell people how special you are.
I spent 750 with first original stock and it was worth every penny. The only thing that got my attention is the Samsung Note.
This device will easily last 2 years for the casual person and another 6-12 months with the tech geek.
Last I read over 3 million GS2 had been sold in Europe alone so I can imagine at least a couple hundred thousand were sold in USA despite not being on general sale there that's not to say people didn't buy them online and not taking into account the many more sold throughout the rest of the world so hardly a unique phone for the privileged few this phone has been Samsung's biggest selling handset to date and with good reason!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Of course the phone will become more popular as it gets released in more places. That's progress. Accept it.
Samsung have a winning phone on their hands; they'd be utterly stupid to not try selling it in every country in the world.
If you want something new, go and buy the Samsung Galaxy S 3 whenever it's released. (but accept that other people are going to buy it too)
SII already achieved a great level of admiration as after 3 months of release it's still the most wanted and popular phone people wanna hold. I believe it will have a record sales figure worldwide.
But OP- Poor thinking, shame on you.

But hey, it's suckers like OP that I find easy to make money from.
I know how you feel. Its just a nice experience when you own a device that others have never even seen. I owned a Microsoft zune a few years back which wasn't released here in the uk. When I showed it to iPod user's they just said "wow is that a new iPod?" Although the galaxy s2 is wildly available in the UK there are still alot of people that don't know what they are, especially iPhone users. I've already been asked if it was an iphone5. I replied no its much better than one of those old iPhones. I'm then quickly followed by a confused look and a sharp reply of "iPhones are the best though aren't they?" So funny.

With all do respect, I absolutely love this phone. I just felt as with an increased presence in the States, it could potentially turn to something along the lines of an iPhone, whereby almost every user wants/or already has it. It's one of the things I dislike about Apple products is because of the all-too familiarity around here. Pretty much everywhere I go, I would see someone carrying an iPhone. Makes you feel slightly less exclusive. However, if it's a good product, then obviously everyone is going to get it.

I thought that individualism was one of the central tenets of American culture.
I don't see how it's a bad thing if the SGSII (or any other Android phone for that matter) becomes more popular. A larger install base means the platform is more attractive for app developers, and it's the quality and quantity of these quality apps that make or break a platform. This is just my opinion, but I feel that in this area, Android still has to catch up with iOS. I can't help but feel that I had access to a greater variety of good apps when I was on my iPhone 3GS.

I think there is only one option left for you and it ain't a good one.
To be unique, buy a phone that doesn't sell well, meaning an ugly underpowered , crashing and medicore phone. Thats how you will be unique.
Thats the price you pay for wanting a top selling and great phone. In the end everybody wants a phone that is on top of the line.
Learn to live with it that you are not alone when you buy these phones.
When i see around me people with GS II then i know i probably made a good decision.
If i bought a phone that nobody has then its rubbish or insane expensive.

True. Good point.
Hopefully, Samsung continues to make great quality products. IMHO, I'll take quality over quantity (or massive production of inferior products in order to just reach a certain quota) any day of the week.
You could look at it a different way...
Think about this, for a start not everyone will get or be in the position to get an S2. Instead of 'oh that's cool what is it' you might get people saying hey an S2 they are great aren't they? I have one and just put the latest xxx rom on it, have you tried it, take a look A full on conversation going about how good the phone is, while others around wonder why they don't have one of these phones.
I already have (here in Belfast Northern Ireland) been talking to a complete stranger and quickly set his phone up a bit better for him on the spot! He thanked me and said he is very new to android. I showed him my setup and he was impressed so I pointed him in the direction of xda.
So if you like it might not be such a unique club soon, but it will still be a chosen few only with a few more friendly members, don't you think?

I'm thinking of getting a GT and have done some research here and other sites. The more I read the more worried I'm becoming whether buying a GT is really a good idea.
My main concerns are the screen issues, newton rings, moisture under the screen, oil slicks, shaky or flickering screen, device not turning on or charging properly, etc.
As with all forums, it's always the problems that get highlighted so I'm finding it difficult to gauge how wide spread these problems are, i.e. do they only affect 1% of the GTs or is it more like 30%? Do Samsung acknowledge there is a screen problem?
I'd like some candid advice from owners whether they are completely happy with their GT and whether they would buy one again if they were buying now?
If it makes any difference I'd be buying the 16GB WiFi only model from the UK.
I am very happy with my wifi galaxy tab10.1. In my opinion this is the best tablet currently available in market.
And I would advice any of my friends to buy this only at this moment.
Regarding newton rings : its acknowledged by Samsung UK and is present in the FAQ system of their website

I really like my tab, and haven't really had any problems. However, I did get some moisture under the screen after I left it laying outside on a hot day, but I just stuck it in the freezer and it went away .
Now, the decision of whether to get a GT... The main downfall is no external sd card (although this may not bother you). It's very thin, light, and looks good (+), but doesn't have the ports (like hdmi or usb) that other HC tabs have now (-). And, it's a bit more expensive than say a transformer, so you should take that into account too. My best advice would be to go somewhere like bestbuy and test them all out, then buy one on Amazon (generally cheaper).
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not too bothered about the lack of external connections as the tab will mainly be used for some web browsing and the odd e-mail. I do however want to root it.
I did also consider the Transformer but the newer serial numbers haven't been successfully rooted yet. TBH, if it was rooted I would probably go for the transformer as it's ~€100 cheaper than the GT and already has the HC3.2 upgrade.
I've had a play with both and liked both. I preferred the GT's physical aspects (size and weight) and am familiar with TW as I have a GS2 so it's my first choice.
My main issues are the screen problems. Would you say the problem exists in all GTs (i.e. design flaw) but only manifests themselves when exposed to higher temperatures or is it something that is affecting only a batch of devices (i.e. manufacturing flaw)? I know that's probably difficult to answer but I'd like to hear opinions none the less.

Thanks for the link. Well judging from that poll the problem seems to affect more than 50% of those that voted. It's not completely clear whether the problem has been fully resolved either. I've asked on that thread for people with screen replacements to say if the new screens have resolved the problem.
I would say i'm a basic user of my tab...i haven't rooted it as no idea how to go about doing that.
Overall for what I wanted it for, it's exceeded my expectations. I haven't encountered any issues with newton rings (touch wood) not lagging.
I have the 32gb wifi only version and I would suggest this is the optimum size. I feel the 16gb would be way too small.
Download dice player or another as this will play most files thrown at it. Also pay for the HDMI and USB adaptor to be able to watch on your TV or to transfer files. I've found this the easiest way to get files onto the tab rather than messing with Kies (don't go there) or using wifi explore options.
I wanted a tab for on the go, watching movies that i've downloaded without the need to convert (as with ipad). For this reason, it's a great tab, light and widescreen! Nice widgets and can customise the home screen. I'm sure I could get more use out of it, but I've come from apple products so new to android.
With the release of the TF2 coming nov 9th I'd definitely wait for that. If the Tegra 3 can run 1080p smoothly I'm making the switch over.
i have the 16gb metallic grey for 3 weeks now. I live in canada, i work as a real estate broker and am using the tab a lot, especially outside.
Here is fall season, temperatures are getting colder. I didnt have any problems with my screen. I really like my tab.
At first, i wanted to wait for TF2, but since they never said the exact date it would be release and that i was waiting since august, i bought the Galaxy 10.1 and i have nothing bad to say.
The only thing (as stated by others) the lack of sd/usb/hdmi slot turn me down a bit but u can fix that easy with thoses 2 : http://www.amazon.ca/Samsung-Galaxy...GY7Y/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1320212663&sr=8-7

I'd wait if I was you. The GT10 is not perfect. Sometimes they have defects (gasp!). And then when you call customer service--they don't even speak the same language and they ask you questions! Can you imagine being asked questions! It's terrible! It's like they're saying "I hate your stupid face." when they ask you to "press the power button and tell me what happens." And performance? Well, it's good, but as soon as something new comes out it will totally suck. Like "wow, how did I ever use that" sucking. It will be abysmally bad! Everyone will laugh at you.
At some point, they will make a perfect piece of technology, then you won't need to ask because it will be perfect. Also, I think you should wait to breathe until the air is perfect. Hold your breath and I will tell you when it's time to breathe.

Oh wow that's very helpful and original.
I don't have 500 bucks to throw at a device that may have a design flaw nor the time to chase around getting it repaired because of persistent problems and so was trying to gauge the reliability of the device and extent of any problems.
You obviously have too much time if you can write all that dribble. If you don't like the topic don't read it.

Dude, there will always be something better coming out, if he wait for that "perfect" product, well he will never buy something.
I didnt want to spoil my money either. Here in canada, with a 3yr sim card data plan, i got a discount and my tab cost me 350$.
Before taking my decision, I've looked at almost all review on the web, went to stores and played with all the tabs.
At the end, it will be a personnal decision. Think about ur needs, no product is perfect, it might defect, thats why u get a warranty when u buy it. For me that was another reason not to buy online, just in case i need service on the tab.
Now for the reliability, since we live in differents parts of the world, i guess nobody can give you a 100% advice about it.
For my two cents, I love my Tab, think it is definitely with getting the 32 GB version, and was unlucky enough to have a problem with the charging connecter breaking. I bought it on Craigslist like-new, but didn't have a receipt. I called Samsung in the middle of the night (24 hour support), and was able to get everything taken care of. It took five minutes, at 1 am Pacific time, speaking to someone with an American accent. They sent me a return label, so I didn't pay a penny to get it repaired, even without proof of purchase. Got it back today, two weeks later. Impressive.
I've got to say, I work with a fair amount of tech support for my job as an audio engineer, and am always amazed with how much better support I get from dealing with companies like Allen & Heath through my work, because we have pro accounts with them all. Samsung was nearly on par with them. That's saying something if you ask me.

Bought the 3G 16 GB version and love it.
The USB adaptor was included free in the box.
This beauty is the next best thing after my wife and kid
16 GB is more than enough, as USB works fine, and if you need extra space there is always the GoFlex Satellite with 500 GB. I think buying 32 GB does not make any sense.
Got also the Logitech Tablet Keyboard for Android 3.0+ and together with the tab it's a killer combo
So if you are really interested in getting a tab, I would go all out for it
Ok, kinda stupid question, but here it goes:
I have played around with the black version of 10.1 16GB 3g version and the back plastic has a somewhat "rubbery feel". What I want to know is whether the white one has the same feeling or it is glossy and "shiny"... Well Iam ordering tomorrow and want to know please! Thanks!
I was going to make my own thread regarding the GT10.1 before buying one, but thought I would just post it in here:
My question is currently from what I know with stock you have to use Kies to transfer data/backup. With a custom ROM does still happen or can I just use it as a mass storage like all android phones?
I planned on getting a 32gb, but don't know if that is the smart choice. With all kinds of cloud and online storage is 32gb even needed? I know it has no expansion on the device itself.
Lastly, one of my reasons for getting a tablet is for reading all my ebooks and especially PDFs, how well do these look on the 10.1?

Ok, kinda stupid question, but here it goes:
I have played around with the black version of 10.1 16GB 3g version and the back plastic has a somewhat "rubbery feel". What I want to know is whether the white one has the same feeling or it is glossy and "shiny"... Well Iam ordering tomorrow and want to know please! Thanks!

Since the source hasn't been released, the roms aren't exactly custom but modified stock ones. (Please correct me if I'm wrong). So they work with kies.

So, basically all the owners of a Galaxy Tab have to go the route of Kies to do any kind of data transfer(From PC). Fun.

Well, if indeed I am correct, yes. BUT you can also use dropbox or sent an email to the account that is linked to the tab containing the data. And there is always the option of buying the USB adaptor... Ok I admit that as far as connectivity is concerned, Samsung behaves like Apple but imo what sucks about Apple is not the hardware but the software.
Off topic:
Lets hope that Samsung delivers ICS as well, thus giving us Apple like support!

OK, so I have never felt the need to make a pointless thread till now...
I was out at the bar tonight, surrounded by iPhone people....going on and on about how they had one problem or another with whatever random android they had and how suddenly their iPhone solved everything.... And they were saying "oh, our phone is so much faster than yours"
So i made them all download linpack and blew each of them away by double...
Perhaps it doesn't mean much, but it shut them up

I hate it tho how trying to get an i phone user to understand something simple like a widget. I explain at least we get home screens they dont understand coz all they get is an application drawer!
I actually talked a female colleague around to getting an android phone like mine (s2) she was set to get an iphone but she doesn't regret it one bit! Plus out of 15 ppl in our company 3 of us have android- one desire and 2 s2's! The rest are apple fan boys! Lol

Yay, a grid of icons on top of icons! The solution to all of life's mobile phone problems. Oh, and a robotic sounding woman you can have "conversations" with.
The reason why Apple is so successful is because the notion of "choice" is too much for the average person to handle. I understand the lack of common sense and willingness to do a little legwork when purchasing things that most of society has, but having ONE phone and ONE computer is preferable to anyone in the entertainment business than shuffling through the hundreds of Android phones. Especially since they're catering to the society I wrote about. They will know what an iPhone is. They will not know what __insert_stuipd_android_device_name_OEMs_who_don't_understand_how_the_world_works_come_up_with is.

Better to have Iphones than the stupid symbian Nokia phones............
My town is surrounded by Nokia phones and some chinese/indian crap......
Though the problem is that here a basic phone without camera and some basic features costs at 2000-3000 rupees (40$-60$) while the evo 3d was around 49$(contract) in USA and is around 700$ (without contract) in india , I would have purchased so many phones at this cost if that contract thingy would have been available here...

No you wouldn't because they are ,like you said, contracts . That means you can only get a device at that price once every two years once the contract ends.
The reason so many more people appear to have iphones is Apple advertises everywhere. People want a brand name they can trust and they all love their ipods for music, so why not get an iPhone. Then the old yoga moms who bought it rave about their new smartphone to all their clueless friends, who tell even more people, until apple phones are owned by every clueless person in the US. Then Apple decides it's time to implement project X, a top secret project that uses siri to take over its users like a parasite and TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!! Well sort of anyway...
Yeah, idk, I just enjoyed it because they all had to admit my 3d blew their iPhone away... And you guys are right, it is brainless... Have you ever seen two iPhones that look different? Nope, they are all set up to be huge app drawers... Idk, I like having a bookmark and a calendar widget.... I like being able to make it my own and not just follow suit....

How incredibly humble of you
Apple has carved an image for itself, and it does it's job very well, and people from all walks of life has iPhones, from trashy people, to incredible smart. Some people just don't care about customisation and are more interested in a complete solution with little fuss. This does not make them brainless.
the main reason i keep seeing these lil girls get iphone is because its a status symbol , ppl think if you have an iphone ur cool or going to get more *****, that phone is plain out boring when its up against a high end android.

How DARE you display objectivity, blasphemer! The iPhone is for the feeble minded and Android for the intellectual elite.
I think people chose iphone forbthe same reason i dont root my phone. Not everyone has hours a day to waste altering these phones or can afford for something to stop working. People say rooting your phone makes it better and faster. How much faster can it get seriously? I mean my epic touch is fully stock with 1000 songs and plenty of pics and videos and sometimes it seems like it selects what i want before i even swipe it. Every other thread on xda seems to ke oh i flashed this rom and my camera stopped working my wifi stopped working my voicemail stopped working im not getting my notifications stuck on htc screen or whatever else can go wrong. Im only 26 but i have a gf and a 1 year old son. Some people cant afford to have dumb **** like that go wrong. I need everything on my phone working all the time. Im not worried about the latest theme and if i was that worried about ics id go by a galaxy nexus.

Cool story? Trust me depending in the Roms the phone actually shows significant performance over the stock . You don't actually spend hours a day switching. Or whatever. Just download follow simple steps and go.
Most times the rom is perfectly working for users. Just some people don't read the change logs on what works or not.
And I have-not seen that many oh my wifi or whatever is not working threads.
Unless you take advantage of rooting you probably arnt the one to talk about these customization steps, goes for the iPhone users alike.

Alright so after reading this thread which has a slight undertone of hate both ways, here is what I've gathered....
iPhone: For people who want things done for them... They don't want to worry about every detail (big or small) of their phone, don't mind little customization, and follow a 'trend' (if you will). At the same time, everything is easier to use, because it is less complicated and everything is right there. The phone that is already 'set-up'.
Exclude the whole concept of Jailbreaking your iPhone. If you jailbreak it, you are basically making it an Android anyways -_-. Making it Open-source so you can add MODs from Cydia to it for a little more customization and control. Sounds like browsing XDA looking for new things for your phone, hm.
Android: Contrary to the iPhone... For people who want to take control of their phone. In every aspect. Having a phone that really reflects you and shows your personality. Something you can tinker with for endless hours ALWAYS finding something new. You don't mind the 'kinks' of rooting and ROMs, because you like the need to fiddle with your phone. All around, you're more alert to everything going on in that phone of yours. The parts waiting to be perfectly put together.
Don't get me wrong. Android is fully functional. What I meant by the part thing is; everything is ready to go, but it needs a little extra to get it how you want it.
Which one is better....? I personally like Android because of all the things there are to, and the very thin boundaries (if there are any) to what you can't do. However the iPhone offers a very refined experience that isn't anything to scuff at. I do not find the iPhone faster either. There are plenty of tests to show otherwise. It wouldn't be fair to compare a low-end Android so assume I'm talking about the SGS2, Galaxy Nexus, etc. And if there is any difference in visual speed (which isn't totally reliable) it is honestly a hundredth of a second or less. Processor wise Android destroys iOS. Visual smoothness iOS at times over throws Android. Overall they're both good platforms (and I have used both for over 6 months).
Now if more iPhone users could realize that Android is just as good as iOS. Then we could finally get them to shut-up about what their pre-personalized phones can do.

I'd never buy an iPhone, or Apple product, for that matter. That said, had I been one of those people who just lost the linpack challenge, I would promptly have asked you to open your web browser, or home screen and take the lag challenge, to which you would have failed miserably.

Hi all!
Been happy with my Android workphone for two and a half years now. But my ol' Desire is getting a bit tired and out of date. So I will get a new device soon.
But new corporate policy is that we only run iPhones as workphones. So my next will probably be an iPhone 5.
I know it´s a mighty fine handset I'll be getting but this ol' dog is a kind of a droidy dog. I´m clearly beeing thrown a bit outside my comfort zone here.
So I´ll gladly take any advice on how to handle the green abstinence, tips 'n tricks about managin' stuff in iOS and maybe the odd "hang in there".
Try to jailbreak it for one, sure it won't be exactly like android but it will be close enough and there are some pretty cool stuff you can do when you jailbreak your iphone. My friend was able to have an up and down scroll-able screen for his apps (kinda like the app drawer for gingerbread), as well as adding actual widgets.
Quit your job und change to a company which uses androids
Get the goophone i5 =P
Get a Goophone i5. But seriously why are they forcing the iPhone on you. I would try to convince them that it will slow your productivity since its slower to write emails/texts on because it doesn't have swype. I guess companies use iOS because its easier for new users and iOS never changes.

I deal with it by having an android tablet. My company iPhone is good to make calls, text, email, and web browse. Past that it is largely useless. I save $100/ month by not having the phone bill. It sucks but it is worth it.

For the people who likes to custom and improves better features in the devices, Iphone is not a good idea, but sometimes we need to accept... And maybe by a Galaxy S3 and enjoy both :good:
Vini
Objectivly speaking now, i think iphone might be morw than suited for work related stuff.
It will run the required apps, it will run them smoothly, and generally bug free (less bugs than a full on modified rom for android most likely) . What would you really be using it for? Work email, work calls, work texts.
You can always have a personal android phone for leisure, tinkering and gratifying personalization. The iphone will do what it can, and do it good. The android will do what you want.
Ever had a sex change? yeah thats pretty much the contrast here
Leave the job. The company is doomed anyway.
Get an android anyway. A policy like that sounds like you work at the apple store.
Put a case on it, and once in a while ask it questions to act like you have siri.
You can pull the wool over a sheep's eyes.
They can't tell you have an android because it functions like iphones, maps, web, txt, and call.
Also, are you paying for it or they are?
If you're paying get android.
If they pay. Well, ..... Nice knowing you.
