So I went to visit the parents and they live in the mountains in a roaming area. I had roaming service for the first day and it went away the next? I tried updating PRL, putting the different corporate PRLs on and the 00002 prl. That didn't work..updated PRL and then tried updating Profile but the profile wouldn't update.
My phone is showing FULL bars with a triangle but no 3g, H or 1x. So I can't call, text, or use the internet. I tried restoring a nand, tried full wipe with a fresh install, tried flipping airplane.mode on and off, tried everything I could possibly think of. Even bought the roam controller app.
So I finally call Sprint and all they said is to pull the battery..tried that and no luck. They said they can't help me if I'm roaming.
I'm really stumped. Think it could just be the towers? I'm here for a week and need service for important calls.
Smart people use googlevoice. NO ONE HAS MY PERSONAL NUMBER. Therefore, as long as I use google voice.... I can re-direct to whatever number I wish. So if out of area. boom. redirect it to the landline. lol. "Sorry mom and dad. I'm stealing your phone for the week." lol. OR YOU CAN BUY ONE OF THOSE devices if they have a good internet connection. then your 3G will work. But then again. as you said you can't use data. so I'm guessing they have no wifi or internet at all. sucks to be you.

I got the phone to finally update profile. So the 3g came back and it connects to the internet now. But I still can't make calls it text anyone. but now it keeps saying "Radio Interface Resource Shortage".

Ok, so I haven't rooted my phone. It's completely stock. I am not receiving ANY phone calls. First it was just sending them directly to voicemail. I did a PRL update and updated my profile. Now all I get is it ringing 5 times, then goes to voicemail, but it doesn't come through to my phone.
Any ideas?
Just tried making a couple calls. Wouldn't go past "Dialing." The phone went into Roaming, and now it's making calls on Roaming... WTF!?

Try calling Sprint from another line and talk to them. For data are you on WiFi?

Just read your original post, sorry dude. Could be a error on sprint. Maybe w outtage in your area. If it is stock and worked before, then maybe thier towers error if you are roaming. Call a.d find out

I'm on the phone with Tier 2 right now. I'll post results. So far, they have reset the switch from their end, and had me verify that my "Mobile Network" was turned on.
Update...
They're saying that there was a ticket created in the area this morning for an outage issue. They're saying that the domestic voice may be down, which is why I can only make calls when my phone goes into roaming. They're checking into it further.

Went to lunch down the road, maybe a quarter-mile, and was able to make a phone call without a problem. It's gotta be a tower. I asked a couple people in my office and it turns out that the BlackBerry devices that everyone uses are also having the same problem in the building. Sprint was on-site yesterday looking into it. I guess they're working out at the tower today or something... Maybe taking long breaks in A/C because it's so ****ing hot outside today.
I've had the same problem with Sprint for the past month in my house. Traveling a few miles down the road (new tower) and no issue.
Sprint sent me an Airave for my house and now calls/data come through.
Wondering if anyone else can figure out whats going on. I am a Drill Sergeant and work 14+ hours a day and need my phone all the time but I do not get service at work, so I decided to try the prl hack. I can get 3g sometimes but when I try to make calls I get a message saying my phone cant be authenticated. Anyone know a fix? I called sprint and told them I get the error when roaming and they couldnt give me an answer or fix. Is there a app i can use to make calls over 3g that I could use when at work? Thanks

Would you be able to use an Airave where you work? Your best bet would be to work something out with Sprint, they will eventually give you the boot if you are roaming all the time.
I have tried 00001 and some others and also roam control. I cant use Airwave where I work. I just dont like the fact I am supposed to get unlimited roaming and cant make calls while my co workers with verizon are streaming youtube and pandora perfectly

I had the same thing happen to me, except I was working in an ambulance. Call sprint from a landline and tell them you can't use voice roaming. They'll push an update that you need to download and you'll be up an running again.
And good luck to you. I could never be a drill. Just thinking of those round browns still creeps me out. haha!

Before S-off my 3vo would automatically switch over to a Verizon tower while roaming, now after S-off Verizon towers can no longer validate my 3vo and wont roam on that system? Is there a fix for this or is it going to stay like this?

Call Sprint and tell them your voice roaming isnt working. I had to do it yesterday. Hopefully you dont get an idiot like I did the first time.

He's saying his roaming is borked, I assume he ran an update of his prl, when he makes a call he probably gets a message from Verizon saying his phone is not registered. Sprint will probably want to do a re activation.
You roam on Verizon when a sprint signal is not available, which is quite common for me.
Also check your settings in the wireless and networks section and see if your set to automatic and not home only, and roaming guards are turned off. S-off does do something to the phone authentication so its up to sprint to fix it on their end.

tried chatting 3 times, getting error 1012, and so far no one can tell me to do anything except pull the battery or update the profile
try just making a call while ytou are not roaming, you will most likely get and error 16, and if you hold long enough you wil;l be routed directly to sprint to the security dept. who will fix your problem

There's an app for that, roam control, but its kind of shady, it dosent work when you need it most. Obviously you don't have a working signal and no data, it has to check for a license every time before you can use it. So if you don't have data and need to roam, your sol until the phone itself decides to roam.

It works for me, I just need a good solid data signal and hope it passes the license check.

It shouldn't check the license every time you run the app...it doesn't for most people. I'm trying to figure out why it does this for a small number of phones, hope to have some type of correction soon. Thanks! -MrGreg

I was trying out the ##DEBUG# (##33284#) dialer code and go to EVDO Engineering to find out my EVDO connections stats in my area and I noticed that the current state is "Fail" every time and a popup that says "Failed to get EVDO Data".
I also noticed on the Sprint Zone app and I go to Help -> I Need Help ->My connections with Voice and Data with green or red icons associated with it. The Voice has a green icon but the Data has a red icon. This further proves that it has an authentication problem.
Anyone seen this before and know of a way to correct this without trying to do a factory reset on the phone?
Mine says the same thing and i'm running the stock rom, rooted, and locked
But the only time i ever had a red light for the data was when i either had my data turned off or i was connected to an open wifi and hadn't accepted the agreement yet

I just got off the phone with customer support for sprint and they say that it is not getting the right data speeds, and it could be a few things causing it;
1 tower outages in the cellular area
2 could be caused by tower updates
3 or it could be a software/hardware issue

Thats even crappier because you blow the gas getting to the store! Not to jack this, tell you a funny story. Took my phone to Garden State Plaza on Rt4 in NJ. It was August 20th, 2011. (Hold that date!) First the chick at the counter stated it looked dropped. 2 co-workers that know me jumped all over her. She then states, "I have one of our technicans look at in the back" Cool!

Even if I power the phone off and back on it still camps on the 0-1 bar sprint network outside. My wife's S4 registers on it, no problem. I have called into Sprint, and we have reactivated, reset the profile on the phone and that works (as long as I stay within the range of the airave). The moment I leave and come back --- bam --- no airave coverage for me on my Note 3.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips or ideas? I have the Airave 2.5.

Have you tried resetting the Airave? Also, I had a problem with it last week. I went online to my Sprint Account > My Preferences > Manage my Airave and reentered the phone numbers allowed to access the Airave and the Zip Code and it solved the problem for me.
Having the same problem. My s4 never had an issue connecting and reconnecting. I've also tried resetting it but that didn't work. I updated the zip code on sprint's website but that didn't help either.
I recently got the airrave setup and running but my note was the only phone not connecting. I'd tried everything and what finally started it working was using PRL helper to roll my PRL back to an older version like my wife's S4. Been working great every since and I'm thinking somehow the newer PRL was ignoring the airrave.
I don't have the airave restricted in my account. It's wide open for anyone to use. I will check on the zip code. Thanks for the tip.

I live in an apartment complex so I have to restrict it to my numbers. The Airave can only handle 10 lines at a time so if it's full with other sprint users in the area, I can't get on. There used to be an option to restrict the square footage of the signal but that was removed a while back.

I had to do a similar thing. I had sprint send me the previous prl and fixed my issues.
It seems the latest prl causes issues and will make your airrave useless.

Airave issue partially solved
Ok, I downloaded PRL Helper from the play store ((thanks piaa_nissan)) and I found a PRL list for sprint (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880781 I found that changing the PRL did help. I went to the 51xxx PRL and it allowed me to register on my Airave. However, I did experience problems with outgoing SMS messages.
I read on the Sprint users forum that the 800 Mhz band is causing the issue with the Airave. Sprint is rolling out 800 SMR in my area and the phone will stay locked on it vs. jumping over to the stronger 1900 Mhz on the Airave.

My phone used to connect to my Airwave, but couldn't send a text. I unplugged the Airwave for a while (couple of days), connected it again so my wife could have good signal and now my phone doesn't connect to the Airwave. I just went to the 56xxx PRL and will test when I get home from work to see if it connects to the Airwave and allows me to send a text.

Mine settled down now and I am able to send SMS's with the 51xxx PRL on the Airave.

Hmm... I may try that PRL then. When I got home, my phone connected to the Airwave and was able to send a text, but then I went back down to no bars. It was connecting and dis-connecting all night.
Before I switch PRLs, I am going to add my phone number to the Airwave to see if that helps any.

It didn't for me. I still pick up LTE when I am out and about with the 51xxx prl.

I spent over a half hour with a level 2 tech support guy from Sprint. I tried everything he could think of, and nothing allowed my note 3 to connect with the Airwave. I wish I could describe this better, but he had me go into a troubleshooting mode on the phone and check a channel setting. It turns out each phone is on one of 3-4 channels. One of the channels will not work with the Airwave. Guess what, I'm on that channel. It seems like the channel is 1476, but I might be off base on that one. The only solution is to send me a new phone (with no guarantee it won't be on the same channel). Sprint is upgrading the towers in my area, so I'm going to live with it for now.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean my manual. I've gone to the menu and done the update that way, but I haven't downloaded a specific PRL and installed it.

Download prl helper in the play store.
Then download this file https://db.tt/xbnGV5lS and put it in the root directory of your internal SD card.
Then simply open up the prl helper app and install that prl.
Should fix your issues.
Let me know how it works.

Your documented process to revert to a different PRL fixed my inability to connect to our Airave, but now the problem sending text messages has returned. After attempting to send a text, delivery times out and I get a "code 34" error. If I power off the airave and retry, it works fine. Any insight??

People reported that issue. Try giving it a few hours and keep trying to send text messages hopefully it will eventually fix itself
