Vibration Intensity problem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Firstly Hi,
Ive been using my s2 for a while and the vibration was working just fine. But recently the vibration intensity of the phone dropped to a very low rate. The settings are set to 100%. So is this a hardware issue then? Any way to how to fix it?
Thanks

Auto brightness problem

I use wolf rom v3.8 and auto brightness function don't work. I checked other roms and it was the same. How can I turn it on?
u cant turn it on i think u need to try with power widget ..that has the auto brightness option ..works for me though, should for u too !!
Thank me if it worked !!
I used a lot of different power widgets and they show auto brightness icon, but nothing changes. Android Assistant widget has list of sensors available in phone and under Light Sensor I have: not support? wtf?

Lesmian, why don't you try ewjet rom? So far is the best rom out there.. smoother and faster and works flawlessly, including auto brightness feature.
Is auto brightness not working at all or you just cant find the option for it? Mine works fine but no option to enable or disable.
Im on zmod cm7

autobrightness always was VERY subtle on my x10i, it even works "better" on my ZTE Blade, so you may just not see it, the only time i really noticed it was when i was reading on the train and drove through a tunnel.

I found option to enable/disable it, but in my opinion it doesn't work.

Hmm. Maybe its true that just not see it. But I did a couple of tests. I lower my brightness and then I put phone under lamp. Nothing changes. Then I increased brightness and cover sensor with my finger, still nothing changes. ;/
Did you read the FAQ section? LOL

If you mean wolf rom FAQ section I read it. And it says that auto brightness works with power control widget. I used it and it doesn't work with my phone. Btw I don't know why you LOL? I did something wrong?
Auto Brightness
I may be able to add some insight into our auto brightness problem. I know it was disabled in 2.1 apparently. First question does anyone know if it was enabled in 2.3.3?
I am currently running a generic X10i with Virgin WB 4.0.4 ROM and DooM Kernel v04b. I use Juice Ultimate Beta v3.6.6. There is a brightness control in JD and I have noticed that on my phone it says brightness sensor unavailable.
The other thought I have is that maybe it is available in x10a's and not x10i's. This may explain the wide variations in people who have it working and people who don't. I have also tried the second step (e.g. larger cirle icon) of the brightness widget in WB's rom which is mentioned in the ROM thread that didn't enable auto brightness. My phone came with 2.1 installed and I have never had auto brightness. This may also be another reason.
I might try and flash 1.6 if I can find it and see what happens. Can anyone think of a reason why I shouldn't try this. I assume I would need to flash a 1.6 basband first.
Any more thoughts would be appreciated.

[Q] A way to Disable vibration when shutting down

Hi all,
as the title says...is there any way of turning off / disabling the vibration that happens to tell you your phone is off.?
it's really annoying
running Omega ICS v10 - XWKL1
TIA..
-phil
Seriously ? How many times do you shutdown your phone per hour ?
I do not know of such mod and I don't believe that someone else thought to remove it ...

there was no need to be nasty, if you didn't know, just say you don't know.
@blueseeker I do it once per day when I go to bed and it's a pointless vibrate so just wondered if I'd missed a setting or if anyone had a script that would/could disable it..
But thanks for your response
@theguydan thanks for the criticism of the pointlessness of blueseekers comment

I don't think there is because it isn't normally seen as a big issue and can be useful (i.e. if you think your phone is bricked or there is a boot loop but it vibrates). Sorry I couldn't help more, it may depend on the rom you use (stock rom has a sound but Cyanogenmod doesn't).
Actually my i9000 doesn't vibrate after shutting it down !! Is it normal ??
It just stopped doing it after flashing a JVT !!
thanks
Prevent Samsun Galaxy S2 or S11 vibrating on shutdown
I've found a way of prevent the annoying shutdown vibration, but it involves stopping all vibrating alerts (I think).
Go to settings, sound, Haptic feedback and turn on the Haptic feedback (if it is not already), then go to vibration intensity (just below) and reduce the sensitivity to zero. Hey presto no more annoying vibration on shut down or indeed annoying vibration at any time .
as Zakarath said... I posted a similar solution just yesterday. Don't forget to use the search before you post. This has already been answered a couple of times.

[Q] jellybean problems?

i just upgraded to stock jb but i just found that vibration doesn't work with notifications mostly when in vibration mode that's number one and i noticed that battery drains much faster than the ics is these normal or not srry i am noob..... so any help would be appreciated
1) Vibration: adjust the settings. It works, but you have to set it accordingly
2) Batt. drain: that is really a problem with the JB ROMs and everyone - myself included - has been complaining about it. Let's just wait and see if there are updates to the ROMs in a near future. So solution so far
i got the sound and vibration checked in setting but still don't get any vibration when i get a message in vibration mode
I managed to fix the vib problem, vibration was disabled in messaging

Help with haptic feedback issue

Hi guys. I have a strange issue with haptic feedback on my i9300. It is rooted on stock rom. Haptic feedback was working great. I had it at half intensity and all of a sudden today it got really weak. I had to set it at max intensity and it still barely vibrates on touchkeys.... I dont have power saving on. Didn't change any setting before it started doing this. Any clues?
factory reset and reflash stock rom, if it doesn't help then send it in
I was hoping to avoid factory reset or flashing rom :/ any other way?
no, not possible to figure out the cause of the problem over the internet

I had this issue every now and again - particularly after installing a certain twitter client. It seemed to clear itself largely. After uninstalling the app I havent had it since.

[H] Problems with brightness

Hi all! I'm having some brightness issues on my Razr i and any help would be great!
I'm on stock 4.1.2 and was using Power Toggles brightness slider to change the brightness, but suddenly, with no changes on the phone, the brigthness level would change only after turning screen off/on. But the problem is not related to the app I think, because even auto brightness isn't working properly... I mean, when it has to get brighter, it works, but when it has to dim, again only if I turn off/on the screen.
Does anyone know what could be causing it?
Thanks in advance!
Sorry for the bad english.

Although you don't think the app is causing the brightness problem's I would recommend uninstalling it for troubleshooting purposes and seeing if after you have uninstalled the app and rebooted the phone if after some time the problem persists. This way we can rule out if the app is or isn't causing the problem.

Thanks for the reply. I did uninstall it and the problem remains... I installed volume slider (which has a brightness slider too) and the same happens: non "real time" brightness changing and the auto brightness still doesn't work properly... =/

That is odd, I would recommend booting into recovery and performing a factory reset and then see if that fixes your problem.

This is what I was afraid of... =/
I will just wait a little longer to see if anybody faced this issue before. I'm pretty sure a factory reset will do (since it started to act like this all of a sudden) but I want to find the cause so it won't happen again or, if it happens, I won't need to do a factory reset...
It's weird... what could make this issue appear? =/

One possible way of figuring out what is causing this issue to happen is to generate a logcat when you are adjusting the brightness settings and see if the log reports any background processes that are causing errors with the brightness control.

Thanks for helping me!
I never generated a logcat before. So I installed CatLog from Store and generated a logcat doing the following:
1) Set brightness to auto
2) Put the phone under a lamp
3) Turned of all the lights: the brightness didn't change
4) Turned off and on the screen: when the screen turned on, the brightness was already on a lower level
The logcat is pretty messed... it shouldn't be like that right? =/
Is this helpful?

From looking at the logcat there is a lot of errors and warning messages with loading certain library files and Android runtime services that relate to power and screen brightness sensing. Another peculiar thing I noticed was that NFC seemed to be generating a couple error messages as well. Overall you were definitely right about it not being a normal log in this situation, I also like your testing methodology :good:.

Well, so any suggestion? Or just a factory reset would do?

Unfortunately a factory reset would probably be the best thing to do.

You could also try re-flashing the stock ROM to see if that fixes it, another suggestion that could possibly work is running a fix permissions utlity.
Reflashed stock rom and reinstalled all my apps. Everything was fine. Went to bed and woke up, the same problem with power toggles reappeared...
EDIT: found what was causing it! It is the latest version of Floating Notifications (when show on lockscreen is enabled)!
Thanks a lot shimp!

That's wicked bizarre that even after all those things the problem still persists. You could try bringing it in to Verizon to see if they can do anything otherwise a hardware issue may have arisen.
