I recently tried to flash a custom rom and everything went to crap. My phone entered a boot loop and would not go past the opening screen. I was upgraded to ICS via Kies and was rooted.
Model Number: GT-I9100M
Android Version: 4.03
Baseband Version: I9100MUGLD3
Kernel Version: [email protected] #3
Build Number: IML74K.UGLD3
That is my phone information.
I have tried to recover my nandroid backup from recovery to the same end result nothing but boot screen.
I have attempted wiped cache user/data fact reset, dalvik, battery stats, fixed permissions and all the other tricks that people tried to suggest. I also tried to revert back to stock bell ICS roms and GB roms. I have ticked the repartition and loaded the gb pit as a last resort but it still is not working.
I am now flashed back to stock ICS and am stick looking at the samsung galaxy S2 opening logo and nothing else. Can someone please help me to get my phone working again.
I still have access to recovery and download mode so it appears from what I read that this is a soft brick. I am able to flash roms but they do nothing to help get back into the phone itself. from further reading it may be something more serious. This was my first attempt at a custom rom but if I can get ti working again I will keep researching to try again someday when I get my bravery back. It was the NEAT rom btw and the dev has been very helpful trying to assist me. if anyone else has had this issue and solved it please lend me your brains so I might do the same.

so u have tried flashing via Odin using a different STOCK rom? i had a similar but not sure if its the same problem stucking on a boot logo screen. wipe dalvik/cache and factory reset did not do anything after restore.
I was able to resolve the problem by reflashing a STOCK ROM via Odin to at least boot and restore via recovery to go back to where my phone was.
hope that helps.

I have attempted to flash 3 custom mods and 2 stock mods as well as recover with cwm and install a custom rom I had stored on internal sd. All have ended with the same result.
On a side note when I attempt a GB based rom it boots directly into recovery with alot of red stating nothing can be mounted and no access to sd card. I am only able to flash ics roms atm.

That's the thing everything goes through in odin for ICS.
When I do GB through the recovery pack I do not get an error it just freezes at the loading of the data.img and sits there for as long as 1 hour. but if I flash just a rom or the kernel it passes. It is when the phone reboots and goes into recovery that I get the failed to mount sdcard failed to mount system failed to mount data failed to mount efs or emms (spelling ?).
I am completely lost.
any input would be greatly appreciated
Hey if anyone is around and are able to give any other ideas or input it would be greatly appreciated. I do not care if i lose the data I just want to get the phone to boot up so I can use it again

Hello, unfortunately my phone took the opportunity to have the power button jam and cause it to loop on and off whilst it was charging for roughly 7 hours. The phone now hangs at the "Samsung Galaxy SIII" Screen.
I've tried flashing a stock rom via Odin , however i get the error "There is no PIT parition."
Is there any other workaway around this?
I have read around the forum and tried different usb ports but to no avail.
Are you sure you didn't tick to use PIT?
If not, your partition table may be broken and you'll need the one on samfirmware.com to revive it.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Where can i get the partition table at samfirmware.com?
It it in the forums or somewhere on the front page? I can't seem to find it sorry.
Would i also just re-partition it with the PIT file on Odin?

If it was the correct PIT file used then it looks like either a JTag repair ( cheaper) or a service centre repair .

You can flash stock recovery through Odin - PDA
OR
BACKUP data to PC and flash full firmware package with Odin. Follow Intratech guide here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671969
You can download firmware packages from XDA (Intratech etc), samsung-updates.com or samfirmware.com

You don't need to get into recovery when using Odin. You need download mode. But any search would have clarified that
Power off and press :
Vol down + home + power (keep depressed until download mode)
Same for recovery (Vol up instead)

I think his problem is that he can't enter recovery, he can only enter download mode. He's asking if there's a way he can enter recovery mode through Odin (by flashing it?) not the other way around.
Hi, after trying out some custom roms like CM9-10 and Omega my phone suddenly started rebooting. It lets me enter the PIN and starts up but after a qouple of seconds it reboots again.
The wierd part is that it autostarts after I insert the battery, but I can enter both CWM and Download mode.
I have tried enter CWM and do a wipe but phone reboots in the middle of the process, same goes when trying to flash CM9 or any other rom I have on the internal SD.
I have also tried following a Swedish guide to restore it to stock using Odin, but after adding the PDA and pressing start I get a Fail in Odin to, something about NAND write fails.
Does anyone have a solution for me? Should I tick re-partition or do something other in Odin?
I would suggest boot into recovery. Wipe Dalvik cache. Flash Rom. Wipe both caches. reboot.

Well I think so, it was sold in Sweden.
The problem is that it reboots doing most of the actions in CWM, I think I have managed to wipe Dalvik but as soon as I try to install a rom it just reboots.
I also tried rooting again using Odin 1.85 but it fails with that version too.

If all else fails get yourself a S3 USB Jig. I bought one, funnily enough it arrived today from Hong Kong and it only cost something like 2,50€ delivered free. Then install a stock rom.

If your Nand is corrupt i dont think you can get out of it......99 percent of the time if you can get into download mode your good. but if you having Nand Write issues, i dont know if there is a coming back from that.
hope thats not the case and another member can shed some better light on the subject.

Could you post a link to that thread? I found this one and have tried flashing some of the PIT-files but it does not work. Or should I flash some other files at the same time?
Ok, following one guide witch seams to fix my problem is that I need a 3-part firmware. Every Firmware I have downloaded contains:
boot, cache, hidden, modem, recovery, system -if I extract them one extra time. Is that right? Where should I load them in odin in that case? If not could anyone direct me to a download-page for 3-part firmwares? (I downloaded the last one from samfirmware.com)
It is very strange that the core functions kind of work as I can boot normaly into the system and even run an app if I am fast, then reboot.
Downloadmode works untill I try to flash something.
CWM works until I try to do a Wipe or flash a rom, I can wipe dalvik and some other stuff, but not cache, data and some other. I noticed that You could partition sdcard from CWM should I try that? and if so what should i select in the next screen about partition size?
I try to install a new Custom Rom on my galaxy tab 10.1 wifi and it failed and there no way for me to put a different rom onto the sd card(well if there is another way plz tell me) then i heard you can flash a stock rom with odin and so i install the united kingdom ICS rom and tryed that but it come up with a error message on the tablet saying something about partition is too small. I guess you tried to flash the boot partition instead of systm partition... In Odin just check the PDA box to flash a new ROM.

You can use DroidExplorer to copy files over to the tab while in recovery mode. It works for Team Win Recovery, haven't tried CWM.
I think 4kb is not the size of partition but the size of a cluster ... there is a problem with file sysem format.
That rom is a honeycomb one, no ?

well currently there is no rom on it, cause the custom rom i install on it didnt work(it install fine and everything was ok on the installation process, but then when it reboot and on the bootscreeen it seen that it dosnt want to load for some reason so it stuck at the samsung boot screen) , so i wipe that rom, now it current not running any rom at all. i try to flash some stock rom onto it with odin and that the error message that pop up. i even try using a pit file cause someone suggest to do so and it still dosnt work, same message pop up. the stock rom im trying to flash on it is an united kingdom ics, i also try a USA honeycomb 3.2 stock rom and it still dosnt work. that error message keep popping up everytime, im guessing my only chance is to find a way to transfer a new custom rom(that actually work) onto the galaxy tab 10.1 through CWM or Odin or something and install that custom rom.
You have to try a ICS Stock ROM like this one : P7500XXLQ8 (You will find it in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android Development Section)
Otherwise you can send file to your tablet in CMW if you have Android SDK installed on your PC. This can be done with ABD Shell.

I am so having all of the same problems. When I did the 7500 rom it flashes and gets stuck at the samsung screen. Then I did the wipes and that didn't help either. I have flashed the pda signed tar 7510. That let's me boot up and used the tab but without the 4G use. I just want stock. Keeps giving the too small error on stock...... There are quite a few people who have had this problem!!!

Hey guys,
I recently flashed null_24 custom rom and after rebooting the phone it got stuck at the Samsung Galaxy s3 logo.
When trying to enter CWM (Touch recovery) i get a black screen and it seems to freeze.
I was able to enter download mode and tried to flash stock rom via Odin.
I tried rebooting my PC and using different USB ports but it failed every time...
Then i tried to recover my phone via kies but it got stuck at 0%
Is there anything i can do or is my phone broken for good?
I could use any help!
Thanks in advance
You need to give more detail.
Do you have an internation or usa s3?
What error did you get with odin?
If you flashed a rom image for a different phone then your phone is probably bricked. Likewise if you get pit errors in odin. If thats the case then it needs a repair job.

The log doesnt look good. I would not mess with it until somebody more knowledgable can help.
If you try things like pit files you may make it beyond repair by yourself and need to send it somewhere for repair.
Sorry I cant really help you further and I hope you get it sorted.

You could try install a kernel only in odin. One with a recovery. Speedmod maybe? This may give you your recovery back and odin might let it Flash.
Worth a try

Okay thanks!
I'll try it when i get home
I've had the same issue a couple of times, all I did was keep trying to flash the stock firmware, and eventually it worked.
I have a better experience with some older firmwares than the newest ones.
Otherwise I'd try as other mentioned, flash a recovery and wipe data and all that, and then flash firmware.
Hope it sorts out for you!
This is so frustrating!
I tried flashing the kernel hundred times but i get the same errorlog as before...

now that is odd! restoring EFS should have bricked the phone! but that's not a hard brick. as you have flashed XXEMG4, now you have a chance of flashing a f/w newer than that(like XXEMG5 or XXMEG6)! try flashing either of these. if the problem still persists, send it to service center.
:good:
have you tried removing the battery for a few minutes ?

have you tried kies? if not do this, BEFORE CONNECTING PHONE TO PC start kies go to upgrade and initialisation. enter your phone model number and serial number. put phone in download mode, vol down +home+power NOW CONNECT PHONE TO PC. this should force kies to upgrade your firmware

they will repair what ever may happen to your phone but will charge you. did you try flashing CM10.2 roms or aosp custom roms?
since odin is not solving your issue than perhaps kies may fix it. i would try kies before service center as it probably will work .even if it does not solve the looping it would leave your phone with official status and may even allow you to get your phone fixed under warranty. after all kies and ota updates are the only official ways to upgrade your firmware under warranty.
Ok thanks, ill keep you guys posted on the status of my phone
XXEMG6 didnt work for me still stuck on the boot loop and also samsung kies, is there any other way i can fix my phone before going to the service center?
maybe flash an emergency firmwareRescue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825272 these firmwares have pit partitions if you flash pit better make sure its the right one
