Is My Battery F***** Up ? - HTC Amaze 4G

So i had used the battery calibration app numerous times because i had flashed a couple roms. A couple of hours later my phone just kept rebooting and rebooting and now it does it like atleast 7 times a day. I noticed whenever it's plugged in to the charger it doesn't reboot. Could it be the battery ?

It probably is your battery. I had the same reboots, changed my battery and now everything is fine.
I've seen a lot of complaints about the OEM battery..

Alright, i probably buy one off ebay today. Any suggestions ?

my suggestion is try to stay at oem since you can always call it in as a defective battery from htc. i bought aftermarket batteries and they all were the same as the stock oem battery as far as battery life but they started to crap out sooner than the oem. Then thats when I started with the random reboots.

Not me. So far so good. But I feel it may not last long since I swap batteries often.
My battery life is horrible cause of heavy use. I have seven batteries I swap out when drained.

Yea, I've tried all those apps, task killers, battery savers. Battery life is my least concern now since I have batteries.
My problem is connections. In high 4G areas I'm usually only getting 3g and I get a lot of no data connections.

Dayum. How do you charge all those?
Just a suggestion, see how your battery life fares if you keep your screen brightness under 25% (if you can).
I use two wall chargers. I average 3-4 batteries a day which works out well for me. I've tried the lowest setting I could possibly go with still seeing the screen, didn't seem to help much believe it or not.
Since I've gotten the backup batteries I just have it on auto brightness now.
Aside from the battery life, I'm more concerned now about the limited 4G I get and no data at all at times.
I would also think even though the battery cover is built well, I think it will wear out from all the removals.

I worry about same thing removing frequently. I found this supposedly oem but from Hong Kong. But if you look at images has contacts like the original back. Ordered and will have it in about another week or so.

I guess it is original equipment though, so may actually be worth it to have one as a backup. Thanks for link

HTC AMAZE Keeps shutting down

Every day my HTC AMAZE 4g keeps shutting down multiple times a day, is there a fix or should I request another one from T-Mobile?

I'm having the same issue. 4-5 times a day it'll just shut down and then take it's sweet time rebooting. Im rooted running stock 2.3.4 trying to upgrade to ICS which kind of tumbles into another issue. I'm trying to do the update to ICS via the OTA update and when it powers down it just boots into the Bootloader screen. My status for my bootloader shows <RELOCKED> followed by <SECURITY WARNING>.
If anyone could shed a little insight that'd be aces.
The random reboot issue seems to be battery related from what others have stated.

I can confirm this. I called t-mo and they basically told me that I'm SOL on a battery replacement. So, I got the Anker 2 pack on Amazon for 30 bucks, and I haven't had a reboot since.
Had the same issue. Called HTC tech support bypassing T-Mobile since I use a different carrier. HTC sent me a replacement battery.

I guess I should call HTC as well. I thought about calling them, but the Anker has a big better so I didn't mind plopping down 30 for 2 batteries.

this sounds like a recall-type of deal here. i'm having the same issues with my oem battery. called htc the other day, and they wanted my cc info to replace the battery. i'd still have to pay for shipping the old one back to them. will try calling again, and see if i can get one for free lol

same thing with mine. went through 2 amaze 4g's and 5 batteries in 2 months. I end up buying a new battery once every 2 weeks.
One thing i know that WILL kill my battery is if i plug it into the outlet on an amtrak train. Every time i exit the train, its dead. Learned that the hard way.
I also keep the rubber case that came with it off. It happens less and less that way. I think it's overheating, since it was very hot out each time.
Hello guys,
I've also about the same problem, My Amaze is Asian version with JuopunutBear S-OFF and ICS Speed Rom installed.
The problem with my phone is that while its charging or in use, it doesn't shut down, but when idle for some time with no music application running in background, it shut down.
then it doesn't turn on unless you pull the battery for a while and re insert it,
Can anyone plz tell me what's the issue, is it battery or some culprit application?
Thanks
I had the same issue on my phone. It was due to the kernel issue .I flashed super wipe once & flashed backup again . Now my battery is ok & I found no rendom shutdowns anymore . try this if it helps you.
Using stock rom 4.0.3 s-off Rooted.
HTC Amaze 4G.

which kernal you're using now??
I used to had the same issue. Tried updating Android using stock, changing the ROM to a custom one (CM, Energizer, etc.), changing the kernel. nothing seemed to help. In the meantime, I bought a battery from eBay. Took about 3,5 to 4 months to arrive (yeah, **** me, I'm from Argentina). I put it on and VOILĂ€. Holy solution.
It is an Anker one, so it has more capacity also
I m using faux kernel v. 31

[Q] time for new battery or...

I've noticed my battery has been depleting quickly lately but this morning it went from 100% to 15% in a matter of 1.5 hours which included near zero using besides about 20 minutes of music listening. I'm running the hybrid rom...maybe its time for a new from???

I'd say battery over rom. I get about 7 hours of use like you described with a new battery.
I got mine from amazon and there are reviews in the accessories forum.
Definitely not a rom related issue from what I have experienced.
I used to get about 16 hours of use on The Hybrid.
Call AT&T warranty department. tell them about that huge drain, maybe even ham it up a bit, They should send your a free battery replacement.

Maybe a rogue app? Try downloading GSam battery monitor (used to be called bad ass battery monitor) and see if you have a program using a lot of power. Try also wiping battery stats and/or recalibrating the battery. Excessive flashing sometimes neccessitates one or both.

I've heard of this happening with rebooting with less than a certain battery life but never without a reboot right off the charger. Possible problem with charging cable maybe?

What rom/kernel...baseband, and carrier..
Also, are you charging with the phone in use, or is it turned off...
Also, are you overclocked, overvolted ??
and are you using the stock charger and cable ??
thanks in advance....g

A bit slower than normal, but if coming to this rom fresh, it needs a few days to "settle"...
My math shows this:
89% - end charge
minus
46 %- start charge
= 43% charge
divided by 6 hours, = 7.16 % per hour.
Better than my build gets right now....with a stock battery...(using CM9 stable today).....
Watch it for a few more days and monitor the charge rate. I'm not ruling out a problem with battery either, but considering the fact that your last build was better, the battery should be fine.
But honestly, once the stats get built and the rom settles in, you will likely see an increase in charging rate, and a decrease in discharge time.
The symptoms your having are not uncommon after flashing a new build.
Also, have you verified your wireless connections ?..I.E.is the device attempting to access wifi, or roam on wireless bands ?
Often times this causes rapid battery drain....
Thats my .02 at the moment brother......g
And I appreciate that!! I don't use WiFi. And most of the time I'm just on 4g. Always have good 4g connection at home. With nothing running background. I'll give it a few days though and see what happens!! Thanks broth a!!

Happened to me when i went from TW to AOKP. I was stuck at 19% for hr and than when I restored back to TW it started charging normal again.
May be some files left over from one rom causing the slow down.
About to try the avatar rom again and see if it's still going on.

Very possible ....
I always wipe the EMMC partition after a new rom ....
Without having the device in hand, it's impossible to say what the cause may be.
Whether it's a rom issue, or apps etcetera......g

Here is a solution: Get a new ROM because the ROM you have installed is over clocked too much so the voltage the phone gets from the battery is almost equivalent to the voltage of your charger. The charger has a voltage of 5, which means the phone has a voltage of now 4.7V
