Verizon's family data plan:
$50 monthly plan comes with 1 gigabyte of data to be shared between devices. For $60 a month, you get 2GB, while $70 gets 4GB, $80 gets 6GB, $90 gets 8GB, and $100 gets 10GB.
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57450763-94/verizon-unveils-share-everything-family-plans-for-data
That doesn't sound like a good deal at all
Right now, between 2 lines, I get 14 gigs for 70. With the family plan, I'd get 4 gigs for 70

Forgot to add, this new plan starts on June 28th and also marks the end of unlimited data for those that choose a subsidized phone when upgrading
You forgot one important part.
In addition to the plan, there are fees related to each device. There's a monthly charge of $40 for each smartphone; $30 for each phone; $20 for a hot spot, USB modem, notebook, or netbook; and $10 for a tablet.

That doesn't make any sense.... If you got individual data, you'd get 2 gigs for $30 on 2 lines. totaling $60 for 2 lines. But if what you are saying is true, this would be the case...
individual plan @ 2 lines:
4 gigs for $60
Family plan @ 2 lines:
4 gigs for $150
And if you went with the 1 gig plan, it would be $130 instead of $50

Ya, I was too busy bending over and taking it in the shorts after reading the first part of Verizon's wonderful new plan structure
Sounds like this will increase the use of Swappa . I know I am in the process of talking my wife into either getting a new phone now or getting a used one off Swappa so we don't mess up her unlimited plan.
Those extra fees are ridiculous as well. Seems like Verizon is intent on losing customers. We have 5 lines right now and only data on 2, I sure as heck won't be adding anymore data lines . Thought we already were paying a user fee ? This would make my payments way to high to even keep a smart phone logically.

makes me wanna get the s3 now
with an upgrade to burn, i wanna be able to use it...
i dont think theres another phone coming out that i want, but i'll be damned if i lose the unlimited data
wonder what i could sell the new s3 for?? lol,
i'll have to put that money off to the side to buy my next phone outright...
Here is a PDF they made to show us how much we are going to save. (meaning bending over)
http://solutions.vzwshop.com/shareeverything/pdf/verizon_share_everything_plan_details.pdf
Gee, my bill will only go up $30 plus the overages I will surely hit.
I am so excited since I will now be on the Rezound for a long time.
FULL.OF.FAIL what a crock of ****...what the customer asked for, yeah right...I can see a monumental public outcry over this. "Double the data" deals coming soon to a plan near you to compensate, watch what i tell you.
Retarded changes. For sure I'm never taking a subsidized phone!
Anyone heard how employee discounts will work? Will they be off the entire plan or just the one individual phone? This is such a rip off
Wow. Those are awful plans. I've got an upgrade on the 26th so I may try to get it sooner and get a sg3. No more subsidized phones for me.
Damn, what a TERRIBLE deal.
This is just plain awful.

Was wrong about Sprint, its $549.00 there. The flyer isn't changing for me at all, weird it does for you. I did call and confirm with RadioShack also for $599.00
Either way, it's $480 at Amazon no tax lol.
It's $599 @ RS. I just came from there talking with the store manager. I was going to buy off contract as well til they upped it. The manager was like, you're better off calling & getting the full upgrade which brings you to $199 and if you cancel, you're still making out. I just got the "complimentary upgrade" from Sprint, so I'm good to go

yeah, add a new line $200
transfer currrent number to new evo 3d
then cancel your old line (pay the up to $200 ETF fee)
you'll still come out at least $100 saved rather than paying 599
depending on how far along u are in your plan, you may only have to play between 50 to 100 bucks for the ETF,making your savings up to $350 ,and maybe only paying $250 off contract for new evo, if say you are at 20 months in your 2 year contract

Did this with nextel for years. Thing is when u move/swap the #s ur old will b on the evo3d and the new line on the old evo4g. Now when you cancel the new phone number thats on ur evo4g there is no etf to pay because your within the trial period. So in turn u get it for upgrade price. They never said anything to me with nextel when I did that though times have dirastically changed and who knows...

You guys should be patient. I'm sure Ebay will have a reputable seller selling it at much better prices. Just be patient boys. I'm sure one will score a phone for $400 once the hype dies out.
After 12+ years of being with Tmobile I am ready to move to AT&T and upgrade my iphone 3g. Long story short, I'm sick of the run around BS they have been giving me. On top of that using a jailbroken iphone 3g is practically unusable ever since I installed iOS 4.2.1 It would get stuck/lagg for like up to 5minutes. Not even being able to hard reboot. Being stuck on edge speed was excruciating while all my friends are speeding around in 3g/4g speed smartphones.
Anyways, the Samsung Note blew me away at the store yesterday and I'll be buying one tomorrow.
Any words of advice, tips, coupon codes, discounts I should now about before making my purchase? I'll be buying 2 lines but only 1 phone. The other line will be for my mother who to this day doesn't even know how to txt. So she'll be getting one of those .1 cent flip phones lol.

Someone on here actually did the math before, and the price of an unsubsidized device isn't worth it (you save something like $95 a year) unless you only have 1 line on contract.
In response to the OP, I would definitely recommend using the second lines upgrade to get a 2nd Galaxy Note. You would have to pay for data for the first month, but after that you can shut it off.
The reason I say get a 2nd one is pretty obvious.. Throw it on craigslist the day you get it for $500, then spend $30 and get a cheap-o flip phone.
We commend you for making the transition from Apple.. you'll be much happier on this side of the fence. Open source owns.

This is true, depending on how many people you have on contract. Typically though on a 1-2 person contract for unlimited plan, you save alot of money.

As long as the sim card is residing in a 'non-smartphone' or non-at&t device, you don't have to pay for data. Keep in mind this means you'll have to have another phone, you can't just pull the sim card out and stick it in a drawer.
Welcome to Android and AT&T if you decide to go that route!

I take it you're referring to this:
http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/de...are&siteId=dZCX6Je2w8Q-sBG3oO9zQ5oOdYyuLQ44IA
I've been trying this for the last three days. It used to include the Note, not anymore.
I want to switch from T-Mobile too but only until I can get this deal again.
It's been 4 days since I got my beloved Gnote. I couldn't be happier. I was worried about its size but I instantly got hooked on the screen size and it's rich/bright colors. For me the best part is the 4G LTE speeds. I had been on edge speed (jailbroken iphone) the past 4 years. I can't believe how fast I browse now. I'm disgusted with myself for settling on an edge only capable iphone 3g for such a long time.
Switching from the edge/iphone 3g to this device reminded me last year when I finally got around to get a new bed. I had been sleeping on a cheap queen size bed that was uncomfortable (often waking up to back aches) to a king size hybrid latex/foam mattress. I felt like I had been missing out on a good nights sleep all my life. lol
I can't wait to root this baby!

I use a Note on Straight Talk. Got the Note from Craigslist. The math I saw someone do was flawed. But to each their own. I really enjoy the service and the price. I feel richer!
I was at the AT&T store today. A kid was convincing his mom to get herself an iPhone 4S, his reasoning to her was "you can talk to it". I stood there and used Voice Search, opened browser, GMaps, and Navigation. I moved to the iPhone Display and put my phone next to one, then walked away.
Everything the mom was saying she wanted a smartphone phone was what I had just done/showed.
She walked to the iPhone display, picked one up and said, it's smaller, a lot smaller..
My job was done, saved someone today.
No surprise really, but still, I won't be renewing my contract.

Sure, why should VZW build the network we want when they can just charge what they want!?
Losers!
This is the writing on the wall for me. I'm switching to T-Mobile. GSM works better anyways.
So he says:
"If I can add as many devices as I want and share that data plan, that's a lot more efficient from a family share perspective, from a small business perspective,"
How is this efficient? Maybe I'm not seeing it right, but I dont want to share my data with anyone. If I have someone on my plan that uses a crap load of data, thats taking away from my data use. Maybe it's good for Verizon because that would mean I would need to purchase a higher data plan. But that sucks for me, the customer.
That's why they worded it that way.
It does make sense for the guy that has an iPad, smartphone, data for portable computing. However, that assumes that I don't want unlimited data... It's like Comcast capping data from home.
Standard procedure at Big Red. It's like they are edging Unlimited users closer and closer to the end of a cliff and into tiers. But eventually =
What's contributing to the uncertainty is some of the phrasing of Verizon CFO Fran Shammo's statements yesterday, particularly the moment when he said flat out: "Everyone will be on data share."

My dad wants to finally get a smartphone and he said I could buy the subsidized phone. He'd take my DX2 bc he doesn't care about the latest and greatest. I only question and worry if he'll be stuck signed into the 2gb of data tier just days before they come out with something potentially better with the new plans.
Don't worry, Verizon will always let you sign up for an extension on a new plan at a higher rate.
I would switch to a a different provider. There's no end to the nonsense until they squeeze every last dollar out of you. They report to share holders not customers... They got that part clear.
Verzon clarified this. It's only if you buy a subsidized device.

I **** you not, when I looked at the data plans, my back right pocket began to hurt like hell.
Come over to the dark side...
Amazing. First, they take away the "new every two".
Next, they charge you $30 for your free upgrades (not free any more, jerks).
Now this? And, if you WANT to keep it, you have to pay the full price for your new phone?
Verizon is doing EVERYTHING in their power to drive their customers away. I may have to take a look at Sprint. Someone at my work has it and they have a total of 5 phones and a shared, unlimited data plan and it's $130 a month + tax. Wow! I've paying MORE than that for 4 lines and only I have the unlimited data plan.
I just don't know what the coverage is of Sprint, though and what Android phones they offer.
Even though they blow chunks as a company, the coverage is still hard to beat. Guess you have to pick your poison
Well, now with Motorola now coming out officially and stating that the X2 will stay on 2.3 and NOT get ICS, I'm pretty much done with Verizon AND Motorola.
Sprint has an truly unlimited data plan (no throttling) AND they have an unlimited FAMILY data plan, unlike Verizon which appears to be giving a LIMITED shared plan.
Here's the link to the Motorola Android Software Upgrade page stating that the X2 will stay on 2.3:
https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c
I figured this was going to happen, so it's not that much of a shock as the Verizon announcements have been.
I don't understand the hate towards Verizon. How many people with unlimited plans were actually using 4+ GB/month in order to warrant the unlimited plan in the first place? My guess is less than 5% of all customers do this and actually needed unlimited data.
Now Verizon nerfs the unlimited plan and people get pissed? I hate to be the devils' advocate but it is a good move on their part. The vast majority of users don't even use anywhere near 2 GB/month (I know I don't, and nobody I know has even come close to that cap) so why keep an unneeded plan around?
I personally use well over 5gb of data... and I use that in less than 2 weeks... long as I'm on prepaid think ill be good on my data.

It's not the actual data cap that ticks us off. It's the fact that they are going to milk their customers for everything it's worth...
Getting new customers is one thing, but those who are grandfathered is a low blow to those who stayed with Verizon when they eliminated unlimited plans.

Well I was the Winner of that $740 dollar Evo and I find it to be worth every penny lol. I was off contract with an amazon preorder and canceled it in desperation when we had no date. Believe it or not I actually got it faster and cheaper than off contract at BestBuy which would have come ~$760. My OG Evo crapped out and I was completely phone-less so time was of the essence and I was shooting in the dark.
Tl;DR You know exactly how much I was willing to pay . Winning bidder: Crowordove
Also I think it's the funniest thing ever to be called out for my Evo desperation especially since I'm on XDA and got to be a part of it lol.
Is it really that worthwhile to remain off contract? You're still paying monthly service charges equal to what someone on-contract is paying. Your only benefit is the ability to cancel service at any time. Now if they gave you a year's worth of free service for paying the whole lot up front, that might be worth it.
Thanks for chiming in.
Edit: Not calling you out personally, just trying to get a grasp on how folks justify such purchases. I've heard of people paying exorbitant amounts on other devices - iphones, ipads, etc.

Actually I'm in my 2 year contract coming up on year one here shortly. I'm paying off contract for a phone to use on my current contract. I was an Og Evo buyer a little over a month before the Evo 3d and decided to wait it out and chalk it up to bad luck. So this time I jumped for the new phone instead of a referbed Evo that I would have had to buy out of pocket anyway. The best part about it is I get an upgrade next year if I choose to use it
I think knowing that you can up and leave without penalty is a certain sense of security, in which I also enjoy being locked into a contract. i've been eligible to upgrade both phone lines for over 4 years, and just never had because i never found a phone I liked enough. My main phone was a Sanyo MM9000 (I have lots of them collected) due to it's ability to make calls in other countries without being charged and the data usage not being able to be monitored, etc. I was tethering on that phone for years with no fees, lol. My 2nd line was a Touch Pro which was basically the perfect phone, just too slow. Had they put this proc in it, it would be great!
Anyways, I upgraded both lines at the same time with pre-orders, one came in, they f'd up my order and only had 1 phone ready because they thought it was supposed to be one, then my other came later. The 2nd I already had buyers lined up wanting to pay $650+, but due to the idiots at BB's error, by the time I got my 2nd phone, they were released so now I just have my 2nd phone sitting on craigslist for $500.00 until it sells. And my 2nd line is back on the Touch Pro it was on previously.
First EVO = $200 - $50 pre-order GC with BB - $75 in gift certificates I had, so I paid $75.00 for my HTC EVO 4G LTE
Second EVO = $200 - $50 pre-order GC with BB on my 2nd line. I paid $150 for that one, but once it sells for $500, I will have basically been paid to get one.
This is definitely the best phone out right now. I'm still amazed at how much you can do with it, and I have been experimenting with WEP cracking, lol. Going to see if I can get the right adapters to use my external WiFi antenna with it, then load up BackTrak3 on it. ;-p

~$700 Bestbuy has them listed for that off contract as well as Amazon without the discounts they apply. After Amazons discount they are $550.

I love forum picture fights.
Seriously though it was cost effective for me and I don't expect anyone else to agree with me. My Evo LTE has been and will continue to be worth every penny to me.

Thought I would share this for those of you that only have 2 lines. Its a killer plan. The alternative before today was $120 for unlimited for 2 lines.

Decent plan, but still not as good as two Sero lines

My old family plan, with 4 lines, unlimited data and text, unlimited mobile to mobile, and 2100 minutes of other calls, and 4 subsidized phones is still cheaper than the cost of this plus monthly payments on 4 phones.
hey hellot1M can you sent me this link. i do not see it on sprint site. this would low my bill by $40
I called sprint today about this and no one know about this
The monthly payments on the phones is the killer part. So this might as well be $130-$140 per month.
I switched over today, took them a minute to find it. I was already on Sprint with a G3 and S4. I didn't seem to effect my upgrade's. The dates are still the same. This will be a pretty sweet deal if they apply my discount along with it.
If anyone wants to switch to this and the employee doesn't know what you are talking about tell them they need to add the soc code for it. IT is working on getting this fixed to show automatically and won't have it available in the systems till the 18th or 19th
SOCs: REQLPRO, REQ3PRO, REQBPRO and REQWPRO
Or just tell them to check their damn email lol
It really depends on the customer. this plan won't save everyone money but I have a encountered a few that it did. If you are on the framily plan with 2-3 lines and the ID has 7 or more then this is not for you. If you are on the sero plan, then please NEVER leave!! Lol if you only have one line. Then stay away from this. Talk to your rep and see what's best. Keep in mind this is not discountable so make sure you take that into consideration before switching.

Its an internal email so I have no way of sending you a link. Just like most new plans, you will have to go into a direct or indirect sprint store for new offers. The website and customer care usually won't have these available the first few weeks. This isn't advertised just yet and may never be. It even states in the email that we should use this plan as a last option, meaning its probably temporary. I haven't received any other notification that its permanent or temp so that's just a guess
Also for those interested, the G3 and M8 are still on sale from black Friday. The G3 is down $20 a month and the M8 is down to $15.
In my case I have 2 lines and with my discount I was paying $151. My discount is 18%, I had 2 lines both with unlimited talk, text and data. I also had the $11 insurance on both lines. Looking at my bill my discount was $10.80. So even without my discount I should be looking at $141.80. That's a saving of $9.20. I'm happy with that.
HelloT1m I called in to Sprint and was able to secure this plan. I just said I saw it online. She put me on hold for a few min when she came back she said she found it.
I think she was confused about it though. At first she said it wasn't available till Jan 12, when she tried putting on for that day she came back said she was able to add it today.
Do you still have a 2 year upgrade on this plan?
I called Sprint again today about this plan the rep did not know anything about the plan so I gave him the code SOC he found what I was talking about but did not know how to apply to my account. so he gave me this 866-412-9241 to call and see if they can apply to my account. I called the number and rep also did not know nothing about it neither. so I gave him the code too but kept on looking for excuses telling me that he can't find the plan i was talk about. then when he finally found the plan he tried to say my bill would go higher if I changed to this plan, but didn’t tell me how my plan would go up. he gave me a manager to speak to then the manager there try to tell me if I go to this plan charge me additional $15 per line and it was for only meant for new customers
They are lying, I've been a Sprint customer for 7 years. Here is a screenshot of my account plan after she made the change.

I know they are will try again tomorrow
..
BTW this plan is focused on new customers or customers out of contract. If you are still in a 2yr contract this will be a little harder to get into
Edit: lol I may have forgotten the second screenshot

Here is the eflyer. This has ALL in the info on this plan. Be sure to read all the small print. There is a $25 fee if you are still in a contract.

I'm also interested to know this is well.
Can anyone confirm if the 2 year phone upgrade is still available with this plan, or does it get switched to the Easy Pay (or w/e it's called)?
