Hello, I'd like to know where can I buy the phone for a good price and with a warranty, I want the int version 32gb blue and I am from Canada.
(I want to be able to return the phone if it comes with issues or if I get issues on it later)
I'd also like to know if root will void the warranty.
Thanks!
I cant help you with your purchase but i can say rooting will void your warranty altho you can try to delete the root by reflashing with a stock rom and running triangle away to reset any stats that they will check if you return your phone

Thanks for that, so basicaly the warranty will be void only if I brick my phone when rooted right?

Will my SGS2 warranty become void if I flash it with an official, yet unreleased kernel (ie the KG2) using Odin?
I'm not sure if the warranty becomes void only if I flash a custom rom, or whatever I flash, as long as it's not an official update via kies.
Thanks all for the info

Whatever you flash, be it a Custom ROM or a rooted Kernel or a Mod, you just need to put the Stock firmware with Stock Kernel back before you give it to service to get warranty. And to get rid of any traces left on your phone, just buy a USB Jig (Ebay) and it will even reset your ROM counter, so no one will ever know that you had flashed anything else
Regards.
Hey guys..I rooted my sii using CF-root...so my questions are...how to get rid of the yellow triangle and binary count?(are these the only things samsung uses to check if the device is rooted or not..?)if yes i'd use a jig or else what to do..??
i want my phone to be rooted...but also need my warranty...!!
android version:-2.3.3
baseband version:-I9100XXKH3
kERNEL VERSION:[email protected] #2
Build number:-GINGERBREAD.XWKF3
if you want to get rid of binary count, only way is to use the usb jig, though I've heard there's a 2nd counter embedded.
however I've never had any problems with my warranty even after rooting, and have sent in my phone 3 times for various reasons.
just be sure NOT to send it in with a custom rom installed
from what i heard.. all u need to do is unroot ur phone and flash back secure kernel and delete all root apps and voila u get ur warranty back
and btw the yellow triangle is from unsecured kernel that u used to flash into sgs2 to get it rooted u can get rid of that without unrooting ur sgs2 by simply flashing back secure kernel
NO way to get back your warranty.

No, as you've unlocked your bootloader, it'll always show RELOCKED even if you revert to the stock ROM. You can't factory lock the bootloader, i.e., you can't get the warranty back till you don't meet a person who's a noob.

It's not possible to have both root and warranty on your phone at the same time.
If there's something wrong in your phone and you can't fix it yourself, you only need to unroot it (if you have a CF-root you only need to flash your stock firmware back and use USB Jig (OR before unrooting using TriangleAway app) to clear your flash counter) and take it to the shop where you bought the phone.

'cause the bottom line was still missing!
help needed
is there no way to get my cell completely locked and unrooted ie. saying locked on the boot loader screen
I just upgraded to the i717 Note because it was on sale. To make a long story short, when I recieved the phone, the screen was cracked so I ordered a replacement. The kicker is I rooted the phone but left it stock. AT&T is asking for the original phone back so I unrooted and reset it all the way back to GB 2.3.6 although the phone had ICS 4.0.4 when I recieved it. How do I reset the flash counter and place ICS 4.0.4 back on the phone so I can return it? Samsung Keis is not working. I don't want ANYTHING custom on the phone as I have to return it. I don't want the warranty voided. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks folks!
Many users have returned a warranty claim phone without resetting the counter and no one has ever reported their return being denied from the flash counter.

<<This....
dont bother, just return it...
i returned a hard-bricked captivate with no repercussions.
The only way to clear the counter is to push CWM via Odin, then flash the stock recovery, then the counter reset zip.
All while inside of CWM recovery.
Then on reboot, the counter reads 0, and you have the 3e recovery again.
But as mentioned above, we have never received a report of warranty service being denied due to the flash counter....g
Hello,
i found a way to root without flashing anything on my galaxy s2, but i was wondering if:
rooting without flashing voids the warranty?
looking in Settings>About at kernel line there is this: "3.0.15-I9100XXLPQ-CL223505 [email protected] #3" and i remember the first time i bought the phone that is was something with [email protected], can this change cancel my warranty too?
note: i always had stock roms and custom binaries are 0 and it's samsung's official
Thanks
Rooting voids the warranty. Period.
However. If you need to return the phone for warranty service, if you unroot it, go back to a stock rom that's actually been released by Samsung, reset the flash counter & do a factory reset, the experience on here says you have a fair chance of getting warranty service. But this is not an absolute guarantee.
If you want to keep your warranty 100% guaranteed, don't mess with your phone. At all.

Thanks,
so if i un-root and factory reset i should be allright? and the kernel shouldn't affect that, right?
Bump!
I'm new to rooting devices. If I root my phone and don't flash a custom rom, would that still make the flash counter turn and still void my warranty? I don't want custom roms but there are some apps I need to be rooted to use.
If u will root your phone will lose warranty. ..

Ok, first what version of Kikat are you running? If you upgraded to 4.4.4 you are out of luck for now. If you are still on 4.4.2 NC5, you can use Towel root. This will give you root access, and will NOT trip KNOX 0x0 !!! However the minute you install a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM that will trip KNOX and void your warranty. REMEMBER Sprint will warranty your device with the KNOX warranty counter tripped 0x1 as long as you unroot the device before you take it in or sent it back to Sprint !!! If the device is hard bricked, there is no way to tell it was rooted and they automatically replace the phone. With rooted access and no recovery you can Debloat the device and run rooted apps. Enjoy !!!

darn I guess i'm boned then. I have 4.4.2 but I used Odin to root my phone :-/
I guess if something does happen to where I need to replace it, there's always the *nuke* method or *it's lost or stolen + nuke* method as i do have Sprint's TEP plan.

I run a stock rooted 4.4.2 NC5 with Philz custom recovery version 6.12.9 hltespr. The device was rooted and warranty tripped the second day I owned it. I was in a Sprint corporate Store a couple of wks ago. Showed the tech my rooted note 3. He said I can't touch that, I said what if I unrooted the phone. He said no problem, now I can warranty the phone. He didn't care that the KNOX flag was tripped at all 0x1. Just can't be rooted when you bring it in for service. Sprint doesn't care about KNOX only Samsung cares about KNOX. When Samsung paid millions to the NSA to design a security system to track and spy on others than they care !!!
