[Q] SD Card Access in Root Explorer - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I feel like I am just being really dumb, and I promise I searched but did not see the answer. In all my previous Android phones, the SD Card itself was usually called sd-ext or something like that in Root Explorer. I am not seeing the External SD card for the life of me in either ES File Explorer or Root Explorer. I'm sorry if I am just being Blonde or Dumb :\ Where is it located on this phone?
Help!

In root explorer, go to /mnt/extSDcard

[VIDEO] How to Change the Boot Animation on Cyanogenmod Android for HP Touchpad

You can follow these simple steps to change the original stock boot animation into something amazing.
I am using Root Explorer, which is a paid app in order to do this. If a free app can be used to do this process, please let me know!
Ummm...I posted this before in the G2 section, but GScript lite and the line
Dd if=/mnt/sdcard/splash.IMG of=/dev/block/mmcblk0pl9
Reboot
As a custom script with SU priveleges works fine for me. Just copy the IMG
file into sdcard root and execute the script. Works on my vision and TP. All free, just a wee bit of typing, and keeping a close eye on auto-correct.
Need to find the splash image location next.
Sent from my very "non-stock" TP.
Ok I was an idiot and accidently deleted my original Cyanogenmod animation. Any kindred spirit out there that would like to upload theirs?
Dear reverendkjr

I've been instructed by many people that ES File Explorer will provide the same functionality as Root Explorer as long as you grant root permission and mount the system. I tested this and they are correct. ES File Explorer is free from the market.

Does the s2 support WPA2 Enterprise

Hello i am trying to connect to my schools network and it says to choose wpa2 enterprise under security and it is not there. Any ideas? seems iphones have this but galaxy s2 doesnt? Also I tried the regular WPA/WPA2 PSK it isn't the same as enterprise there is nowhere to put my account username and my school requires a certificate
Put the certificate on your phone and install it via Settings --> Location & Security --> Install from USB storage. Then you should be good to go when you connect.

When you say "placed it in the sdcard and tried again", did you put it on your sd card that you can actually take out of the phone? That is your external sd card.
As oinkylicious said above, USB storage is the /sdcard folder. The external sd card is /sdcard/external_sd.
How are you placing it in your sd card in the first place?

Sorry, wasn't clear you did actually note the difference. Where in /sdcard are you putting the file? What is the file extension? What is the exact message you are getting?
Also, I noted you are on Rogers. Are you an SGH-I727R user instead of an I9100 user?
EDIT: sorry, saw the message above. Are you putting it in the root of /sdcard, or a sub-folder?

Just stop it already. Check post #8 where I clearly stated where I placed the file. Then you went on to say I did not state where I put the file. Btw reply back to this if you want because I won't be arguing with you back and forth on this topic since I already solved it thanks to the user who posted the link a few posts above

i did reboot opened google maps and it showed exactly where i was. And the problem that bothered me was me keeping gps turned off all the time only to find that it would turn itself on which I do not like. I want to disable it permanently because I don't think its nessecary for basic phone and web service. I dont feel that my movements should be tracked for any reason it's just weird! If I am correct the phone service is done through the wireless connection not gps?
Shouldn't u prefer changing ROM?
Problem solved and closed! The original instructions are correct & results are as originally claimed in first reply to the op. For some reason it didn't delete properly the first time,I fixed this by restoring my backup & re-attempting. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED
Well I could have helped, but I'm an optimus one user, so I don't know which one is a stable optimus v rom...asking an optimus v user will be better...

Odd. Do you even see extSdCard when you navigate to /mnt? I'm trying to understand when you get the error.
Are you running a custom kernel or ROM?

Here's another option.
Launch Root Explorer
Press Menu and then Preferences
Scroll down to the General Preferences section
Press External SD Path
Enter /mnt/extSdCard as the path and press OK
Once you back out of the preferences a tab should show up to the card now.

That worked perfect, Thanks. Now one more question. I have been trying to install a different color keyboard through Safestrap but they keep failing. Someone said to rename my keyboard apk to the new keyboard apk. Is this fairly easy to do? I guess the hard part is finding the correct apk's.

[Q] how do i?

Hi all. This is my first post and no doubt my question will probably already have been answered so here goes. my Samsung GT-19100 keeps telling me that there is insufficient memory when trying to download. I have plenty of memory spare on the phone 10 gb actually on sd card. I have looked up for answers and seem to have found it, unfortunately I don't know how to go about it. The information I found is saying I need to delete the .odex file in the app data just don't know where to find this file. Any help is very much appreciated. Thank You so much to everyone that has read this. Thanks. Paul.

So, I see.. If you know jailbreaking in apple products, you already know rooting, but they have some differences, please take time to read here
https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20130510152416AAdgd1B
ES File Explorer is a File manager it helps you to move, paste, open files such as .zip , delete files like .odex ... and at the same time its a Root Explorer, Provides access to the entire file system and all data directories, and allows the user to change permissions. You can only unlock its feature like root explorer if your phone is rooted, for more details in ES file manager look here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop
So if you dont know what root is, but now you know, the chances are your phone is not rooted... so i think you cant do your process of deleting the app's .odex but if you please can you try this app i found while searching your problem but it moves the cache of google play store at your sd card and no root is needed... the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.felipearon.marketfix
and one more thing try to clear the cache of your google play store, if still that one dont work, try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2443267 , but i think it needs a root access..
PS: remember use the search button before asking, XDA is your friend as well google:fingers-crossed:
