My handset is an unbranded uk sgs3
Thanks my phone is still working apart from the above problem.
In kies now it states my handest doesnt support software upgrading via kies.
Current PDA:LF2 / PHONE:LF2 / CSC:LF2 (KOR)
I am sure originaly my sgs3 had BTU at the end and not KOR.
Would this cause my problem and could i sort just this problem.
Is flashing best via mobile odin on my device itself.
Many thanks for your help

[Q] SS2 firmware update/ com.android.phone problem

Hi All,
I've just gotten myself the new SS2 and all was perfect. Well, perfect up until I installed the latest firmware highlighted in my Kies 2.0 program. Now, when I turn on my phone I get this error message: com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. This error message is not present when I remove the SIM card and restart.
I've tried doing a factory reset both with and without the SIM card installed. The problem does not go away
As far as I can tell, the phone seems to be working normally otherwise. What's going on?!?
Here are the details:
Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100
Kernel version I9100XXKDJ
Gingerbread.XWKE2
Any help would be greatly appreciated
It is said that KE2 has problems with orange networks. are u at orange?
if so, use KE1.
Reinstall firmware .
Kies Emergency firmware recovery .
Or Samsung service centre
Or use Odin to flash a generic software .Or just a kernel .
jje
Thanks for the replies! yes I am with Orange. Damn.
If I install KE1 will I be given the option to reinstall the firmware? Apart form the error message, my phone seems to be working. Should I wait for the next update and do it via KE1?
Thanks for all the help so far, much appreciated
Just use ODIN to reflash the KE1 firmware, that solved the problem for me. I'm not gonna bother with KE2 until it's sorted (which might be never, knowing Samsung).

Hi, Im on Orange too...so Im reluctant to upgrade via Kies based on your experience and th eadvice here. Keis is offering me KE2, did you find a way of using KE1 without rooting i.e via Keis?...I dont feel confident enough with my new phone to start rooting just yet. If not ill wait till KE3...
Thanks

[Q] Vibration stops working after update to latest Samsung Official Firmware

Recently just got my GS2 and I love it (coming from iPhone 4 and use to have HTC Magic). But I encountered a problem with my phone the same day I got it which is that the vibration stops working after I updated the phone to the latest firmware provided by Samsung through Kies.
I've tried going into the test mode *#0*# and just select vibration but the screen just turn black and the phone won't vibrate. I am trying to find the official firmware for my phone but I can't seem to find it anywhere. My phone CSC is different from the one on the Official Firmware thread. I can't remember of the top of my head what it is but if it helps, mine seems to be an import set and the CSC starts with J.
I've tried doing a hard reset through the OS but it also didn't help. What I am trying to do now is trying to find some way to reflash the OS but Kies don't allow me to do that and I am not sure where to get the official firmware as I am afraid that if I flash it with other firmware that is of a different CSC, my warranty may not be honoured.
So just wondering if anybody here got any tips and helps to solve this problem or do I have to send it back to the shop?
One try Kies emergency firmware recovery .
Two a factory reset .
Official firmware for your phone is only on Kies Samsung stock Samsungs not phone providers .
Two choices one service centre Samsung
two is the unofficial route of flashing via Odin stock firmware . Samsung will not refuse warrant but seller may .CSC may not be for your area enter APN settings yourself .

I also noticed a lack of vibration today. Could not get it to work whatever i did, but I did not update it... In fact I didn't do anything except trying out my new Samsung car holder with it.
I suggest you use this thread for further analysis.
I debranded mine last night but couldnt follow the final step. Now I`ve plugged my SGSII into the pc Kies can`t tell me what firmware version I`m
using. Even worse, as I`m a new user I can`t post on that thread to ask for assistance! LOL
I wish i`d left it well alone now, all I wanted to do was debrand it so I could update to KE7. Sigh

Debrand mean remove bloatware and does not give you an update path .
You can try a factory reset and wipe all data see if Kies picks up update .
Or use stock rom KE7 via Odin or the current update KF1 .
KIES will update original firmware when its available but may not pick up stock firmware .

Just flash KE7 without doing any debranding stuff and hard reset after the device starts for the first time.
Cheers jje, I`m assuming if I want to use stock rom that means I need to root the phone? I`ve never dabbled in that side of things before and was rather nervous just about debranding.
I almost wish I could undo what I`ve done and just wait for Three to send out the update. I`m assuming thats not so easy?
Eureka, suddenly i noticed that my phone's vibration ability was back when walking to a shop with my headphones in. It seems like the headphone jack somehow influences things. Maybe a bad connection between these components?
Maybe you should try this out to confirm this?

Did you take out orange care? If so just call them and you'll get a replacement phone. Or take it back to the shop and get it looked at under warranty.
This might help
In had the same problem with my mums phone. Maybe they have done something to try and stop us!
I spoke to orange and I complained about it and said it kept rebooting and I removed the system basically and sent this back.
Lucky for me they said they have found that this phone had a fault when it was in the factory and they said they had fixed it. Desperate that all they had done was reinstalled the system I told them that it was unacceptable and I wanted a new phone, I also told them I had taken note of the old imei number. They did not like this and put me through to the manager who then saw this through.
I then got a stock Samsung device with no orange rom or app such as the launcher.
Although this took a lot of effort as orange are rubbish with there custermer service I think it was well worth the 2 weeks it took me to finaly agree to get me a new device, I now have a custom rom orange phone with signal boost! (I installed myself)
Hope this helps
thanks very much for that info...give me a head up now
so is there anyway i wipe this phone and start from the fresh?
maybe some smart cookie out there knows

[Q] Flashing firmware fails

Hi all I have an s3 and had it for some time flashed original firmware fine in the past. as well as been rooted in the past without issues.
I consider my self experienced in flashing using odin / kies / Root Tool Kit ect.
When I flash any firmware it fails. this is in kies as well as odin and even in S3 Tool kit v6
I am more than confident i am doing all the correct way as i have done it in the past many times sucsessfully. lates drivers, default settings in odin selected ect. But when i flsh the top left led on the phone goes red but noi progress bar is displayed.
I wait in odin and after around 5 mins it comes back saying failed.
My last image i burned is as below. it works but i can now no longer update or burn any other image to the phone.
Seems i am stuck on 4.1.1
Baseband I9300BWDLI1
Android 4.1.1
Build number JRO03C.I9300XXDLIH
AP: I9300XXDLIH
CP: I9300BWDLI1
CSC: I9300O2UDLI3
Can anyone pleaase shed some light on this issue for me?
Many thanks for your time

I have I donr the factory reset,
Odin fails when you try and flash, it goes through the start and then just hangs for 5 mins then fail in red comes up.
The odin settings are default as always and have tried 4 images now and all 4 fail to flash.
on a reboot the phone still has v4.1.1 installed but all reset to factory settings it is a though there is a block on writing to the rom.
Damaged NAND i guess then .
jje
Are you sure Kies isn't running in the background?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Fixed Yippi
All sorted.
Tried it from another laptop and bingo all working again.
Must be some bad files on the main pc.
thought i was gonna be stuck on 4.1.1 for ever there......
Cheers for the replies and the advice

Black screen, locked on Kies ... again

Hello to all,
I've got a swiss (Swisscom) non rooted Galaxy S3 whose screen went suddenly black (one more).
Except for the blue light alternating and some sounds that shows the GS3 is still alive behind its screen, no way to access it, or do anything from the screen.
I've tried :
1. to access the emergency recovery via Kies, but I only got "connection locked" (needs a code ... but which code ??)
2. hard reset with buttons, but nothing does (blank screen)
Not sure of what I say, but it seems I could reinstall the original OS ..., from the PC, right ?
I've read the different threads on XDA about rooting and else, but ... seems for pros ..
So, I don't care about the data on this phone but (financially) really needs to get it back working.
My questions are :
1. Is there a "blind sequence" to complete factory reset (the 3 button one is fine, when screen works ... ) ?
2. Is there an (easy) way to reinstall fatory rom from PC (I've downloadad Odin, but am a bit lost) ?
Thanks very much for your help (even if this proble has already been discussed)
At present if you have not installed any firmware your phone should be under warranty .
So take to the phone vendor or service centre .
Flashing firmware will not fix a no screen problem and you may end up losing warranty .
Odin requires booting into download mode can you ???

Well, I have the phone for 5 months and it seem Samsung don't cover that anymore
... and a change of screen is about half the price of a new SIII ...
About Odin :... no, I can't access download mode (that's why I forgot that way)
One curious thing (I haven't noticed before on my other Samsungs or HTC is that there's no content (no files, no folder) showing in the Windows explorer on the SIII folder ... ?!?)
Thanks anyway
