Cdma workshop MSL??? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Tried to use cdma workshop to get msl from phone using ##diag# after msl reader from market failed. Got drivers and everything set up fine and pc recognizes phone is there as HTC modem and all. I'm getting failed to read device. Thinking it is something to do with phone but idk. Has anyone gotten it to work or is there another way to get msl besides asking sprint? What I'm really trying to do is boost speaker volumes like we used to do with OG4G. Following that thread everything was goin fine until unable to read device...

LOL asking Sprint is the EASIEST way.
Guys they are not going to say no or ask why. Hell if anything, they just ask if they've been able to resolve your issue. & that's after they have given it to you.

I used another program to get the msl. I can't remember the name but ill post it when I get home. It's a free program.

And if MSL reader doesn't work the first time, uninstall and reinstall it and try again, no idea why it would work the second time, but it did.

[SOLVED]SMS Error - Radio Interface Resource Shortage

SOLUTION: You need to call Sprint (from another phone - 1.888.211.4727) and tell them you can't call or text and you are getting the error "SMS Error - Radio Interface Resource Shortage - Cause Code: 64, Error Class: 2" They wil refresh you on the network, takes about 5 mins. Hope this helps
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone having this issue after Revolutionary? I NEVER had this problem before and it started happening to me even before I put my own ROM on. I cannot send ANY texts. I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem and what you did to fix it. Tried a wipe and reflash and still happening. Any ideas?
Also: Cause Code: 64 Error Class: 2
Your going to have to call Sprint. There is someone who asked how to manually do it, check the Q&A area for a thread called Manually reset or something like that.
I'dink link this to you, but I'm on the XDA App
Appreciate my help? Thank me
I'd get on the phone with Sprint, they probably can fix that easily. I'm sorry bud that sucks, I didn't have that problem and never have.

I guess I will have to call Sprint. I tried the first code and it didn't work. Maybe the others would have but I'm going to bed now and I may just have Sprint deal with it in the morning
Driving my crazy. Does it constantly when connected to the air rave. Rebooted that thing 20 times.
Sent from my HTC Evo 3D.
Same thing happened to me after rooting. I was also unable to make calls or send SMS. Got the error code 16 when trying to make a call. I stayed on the line and was connected to a Sprint rep who told me they reset my info which fixes the problem. Told me to turn my phone off for 30 seconds then back on. calls and sms working again.
Sprint Rep was on the ball and new what to do as soon as he started talking. I assume they got a lot of these calls in the last 12 hours.
I'm not rooted or attached to an airave and I've been getting this error since I bought it yesterday ..becoming more and more disappointed with this thing

it can only fix by contacting sprint
same thing happen when i got s-off, i just got off from chatting on sprint and they fix the problem i told them the issue and they asked me to turn off my phone and take out the battery then she asked me to turn it back on and and to dial this number 1888 546-0348 and then voice prompt said "your phone is now activated" and now its working fine
it happened to me too after I did s-off. I could not get my sms working and did reset and everything. I ended up flashing the stock image available here in the forums. I guess I will wait for the tool to get out of beta and if not just wait for htc unlock. OK fail on my part, I just checked this morning and my calls are still not working lol. I need to call sprint I guess.

The MSL is the key!!!

Im starting to believe the msl is the key to the domestic sim unlock i went into the Sprint store and asked for my MSL and she said "i cant disclose that info"
And i called and rep told me the same thing AND dont u find it weird that msl reader doesn't work on a rooted photon?? Worked on my evo and evo3d

Humm.. I don't know why people have such a hard time to get their MSL number.
All I had to do is chat with a customer service girl and all I said was
"I'm having trouble getting my data to work and I need to reset my data profile but I can't because I don't have the code to enter" (Don't mention MSL right away, maybe that will make things easier for you guys) ((MAYBE))
Then all she said "Yes Mr.***" Let me get your information and I will get right back at you with your code"
As easy as that!
I have my msl from Sprint and there is a method to get it now. the msl let's you reprogram for another cdma carrier.

MSL or SPC (Master Subsidy Lock or Subsidy Programming Code) is a six digit code carriers like to impose on phones to prevent them from being used on another carrier. Once the code is found, you can change it to a code of your choice and you can write information to the phone such as a new PRL to change carriers.
MSL or SPC doesn't necessarily lock the Sim slot. I believe on this phone the sim slot is locked in the radio iteself. Also one more thing. The MSL SPC on alot of phones is protected in memory. Most HTC's will give you the code .. but MOTO's are different.
There is a method to read the MSL SPC using Radiocomm. The MSL SPC is in HEX and will need to be converted. But once found you will be able to change it.
I was able to flash my bro's mopho to cricket wireless with everything working.
Just read this thread using RadioComm instead of MSL Reader which is for HTC phones. Especially the 3rd post in. You will get your MSL easy-peasy, no sweat, no hassles. Worked for me and most others on the thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20454992
The sim lock is at chip level dude just like how 4G is broken when you unlock (which is at radio level). Moto definitely didn't want anyone in their phones that's not supposed to be there. The reason the MSL reader doesn't work is because its for HTC phones only lol. Has something to do with the way bootloaders are locked. I really wish moto took care of the dev community man and just fully unlock these phones.
So no the MSL is not the key lol! Merry Christmas!
This is why I love working at Sprint. All I have to do is go into eticket and type the PTN, and the MSID (dec or hex), and then display MSL. I guess membership does have it's privileges... heh
On the Motorola triumph fro virgin mobile I got the msl out of the logcat. Use alogcat and make the phone ask for the msl then enter it wrong and check the logcat output. It shows the wrong code I used 000000 and right after it the right code it checks it against. 552455. That might work for you on the photon.

Really? Damn, that's hilariously bad coding (though we aren't complaining).
I just tried this on the photon. It doesn't work. However, I got my MSL by going to the official sprint store and just asking for it. Other people on this forum have also gotten it this way or by calling Sprint technical support.
Hmmmm... I love the Photon, and I am going to try tricking a eChat Rep... We'll see...
MSL for Motorola Photon 4G free and easy
I have seen a lot of different ways to get your MSL code for a Motorola Photon 4G, but there's one way that worked for me. I downloaded the MEID Converter app in the market or playstore. You simply enter your MEID or ESN number, and press the button to calculate. It then lists the date, the esn, then it displays your MSL. I hope this helps.
If you still have your original paperwork from when you bought and activated your phone, the msl code should be there. Otherwise, radiocomm works. (It did for me), or call customer service if all else fails.

You might want to say that you only need CDMAWS if you want to change your MSL, although since it is so easy to get the MSL with MSL Reader, you can probably skip that part. Great writeup though. Ive done a Moment and Vitality to PagePlus and the guide is the same, so this is an almost universal Guide.
On a side note: For the Moment and Vitality, MSL Reader does not work, I had to get the MSL by using getprop ril.MSL in Terminal.

Well I mentioned MSL Reader because its easier to use for new comers and it only works on the HTC phones which is what I'm flashing in this guide. If you use CMDAWS you just go to the security tab and under SPC click the drop down box and pick HTC Method. Then click read. Phone must be in DIAG mode though.
Any how I'll be making more guides. I can flash damn near any phone to any company except the Stratosphere.
Dial ##000000# and click edit mode.
Click MDN and enter your phone number, Press OK
Click on MSID/MIN and enter it if you know it, If not call your provider and ask them for it.

This part where im lost at, where exactly do I do all of this at? I dont see none of this in CDMA Workshop. I have version 3.8.0
Edit: Also Can I choose a phone number for the part where i use QPST & need to input *phone [email protected]*? The phone i got from ebay was a bad esn and I'm guessing the phone thats already on the phone still works.
How are 3g speeds on page plus? Just curious I have mine on metro atm and have been thinking about going to boost or here if speeds are decent enough.

In the very first tab with all the phone info. Should be right on top. It is probably labeled mdn and min. If that's what there labeled mdn will be your phone number and min will be msid or mobile identification number (sorry been a while since I used cdma workshop). Qpst doesn't have the option to change phone number itself. It will only allow you to change it for your data profiles. ##000000# or your six digit msl code will accomplish this step for you also.

Ok cool. another thingm I get an error during the last part where I write to the phone in QPST.
The error says NV_UE_IMEI_I (Status) NV_READONLY_S
Disregard that error it doesn't mean anything. You can actually check that box to not notify u of that again if it bothers you.
Let me know how this goes for you and do a speedtest for me if you can. My metro bill is due in a few days if speeds are good I will be making the switch.

The 3G speeds are very good. Remember this one thing PP uses VZW towers. Actually when I flash the Thunderbolts they get 1x and the 1x is pretty damned fast.
Have you flashed any EVO3Ds to Verizon? Assuming the ESN is accepted by Verizon's network of course.
-C
I've heard that Verizon phones get way better speeds on pp than sprint phones. I'm sure its probably just due to lack of provisioning on the parts of places that flash them. I definatly am intersted in tinkering with this. If someone with a EVO 3d on page plus or any sprint phone could do a speed test that would be great. Being on verizon network it should be at least 1mbps and up depending on area. Only reason I ask is cause u can get around 1mbps on boost witout any limit on data. But I don't use much mobile data but When I do I wouldn't mind it being fast. I could probably get away with the 1gb cap.
Just really wanna know the speeds.

Any phone can be flashed to PP and yes I have flashed the 3D numerous times to PP. I just got done doing one. When activating phones on PP always use the ESN(HEX) not the DEC because its too many characters. All Sprint phones that I have flashed always have a 14 character ESN(HEX) which is what you need for PP. If your ESN has 15 characters then drop off the last one digit. It will still activate without the last digit. Speaking of which the Thunderbolt is one that I know of that you have to drop the last digit on. Only one I can remember lol.
Hey! I saw this method and noticed it didn't involve device cloning and that it was for 3 phones.

[guide][video] How to get the msl off Evo 3d

Here's an open source alternative to reading the msl from an evo 3d. Watch this video here
Download links
cdmaworkshoptool
diag drivers
This method should work with a virgin mobile version but you should flash a sprint rom to enable diag mode.
Basically I zeroed my msl then did a master reset using ##RTN# the msl went back to what it was originally but msl reader couldn't read it. Cdma workshop costs 100 dollars but I'm not gonna pay that to flash one phone to verizon (well like six now). I had already used this and it worked great so tried it again. Still worked good.
