Just wondering do kernels make a difference on battery life at all.I find dooms and th japs very similar with battery life.just want to know if someone has tried many kernels for stock based Rom and what they find best.I don't care about overclocking as it causes random reboots imo

I was using champs x10s with complete stock last week to test (v8) it was pretty good I must say. (about a day and a half which is good for my usage)

Kwl which governor and io scheduler buddy?

Really?
Blu bla bla
M&M`S MiUI V6
i also ask what is best kernal for M&M`S MiUI v6 rom i dont know pls tell me someone
Usually rom developers would suggest suitable kernels for their roms.
Rom: feralab volt v14
kernel: doom v06
rocking the unlocked bootloader, using xda premium app.
phones are like cars, you can't keep them stock for too long.
Hey @bodomfan sorry I can't reply to ur last pm for some reason XDA app fcs when I try to open ur msg (oddly enough)

Weird Im currently using champs kernel seems decent

I think, the difference betweeen the kernels availible for download is not directly related to battery consumption, it is just a matter of features. Some of them are overclocked or undervolted.
As far as I know, it is the choosen governor that makes difference on battery level.
For example :
- Performance governor does set the CPU frequency to the highest one configured
- OnDemande governor increases the frequency regularly until it hits the needed one
... and so on. You can read more here and here.
On my phone I use SmartassV2 because I don't want lags but I care a little bit for the battery, maybe I am wrong. If I am, can someone correct me
Same here really not sure why it fcs there but never mind

Which kernel would go best with CM9 when it comes to maximum battery saving. I am currently running FXP kernel on my Sk17i and I am recieving very poor battery performance. Also what would be the best governer for the same?
Right now cm9 supports only fxp kernel.
sent from sk17i using XDA premium app.
underclock your phone and use governer smartass v2 and also check the battery status that which app is draining your battery faster.
Hey...ny1 knows which will b da best max n min freq n the governor whic gives least batt drainage.Im running on rage kernel n ics.
Batt drains a lot wid data on.

Please write out the words, that we can read it like a normal text! Don't only use shortcuts!
flash eXteneded stock kernel.
best and most popular governor is smartassV2
I use 249MHz min CPU freq and max 652MHz
652MHz is undervolted at 975mV
It runs really smooth with this much underclock! though I'm on GB right now....
Ya,should hav written it out full, sry.
But Im usin real ics...cant underclock...I hav to keep it @ 1184mhz,otherwise its gets stuck.or should I jst change the Rom....used miui, even it consumed a lot of batt.nu ideas....plz.

Underclocking depends on kernel, not ROM?
I've tried ICS. I have used it for a couple of months. But I then reverted to GB. It's faster, lighter, less resource hungry, no lags etc.
It's a matter of personal preference I think.
Try to choose a light ROM. With only a few performance scripts/enhancements, no excess/unnecessary apps. Real ICS as good as it is, is pretty heavy in my opinion.
~652 MHz ~ 247 MHz

Yup,seems lite though...anyway,read in a thread somewhere usin @1184 and 134 with noop scheduler is best for ics.don't know.tryin it out.

Um,btw...service menu is not opening.it used to come earlier, don't know what happened...it stopped comin after I installed this Rom(real ics)...any help plz

Doesn't make no sense to overclock to 1184MHz.....
And 134MHz actually drains more power then 249MHz. I really wish I could give you a link to see for yourself, but I read that some time ago.
134MHz and 249MHz run on the same voltage. But 249MHz gets any job done faster then 134MHz, thus using much less CPU time. And you won't have any stuttering when playing music while screen's off with 249MHz.
That goes for all kernels. All of them have 249MHz as default min freq. Execpt MESA, which seems fine with 134MHz as far as I've seen.
Anyway, please test for yourself. Get battery monitor widget (pro). It's THE best tool for batter monitoring etc.
Thanks,I'll try.

As a matter of fact u cannot get best performance & battery life together. But with Mesa ur battery life is better compare to other kernel. So u can try performance, smartass v2,interactiveX as CPU governors for performance with "sio" i/o scheduler. Don't push ur phone to hard with max cpu freq. I would suggest ~1200
349 ~ 1024
Sent from my Live With Walkman using xda premium
For good battery use... Min 134~ Max 864.... Conservati or Interectiv.... IO Deadline........ For performance use 346 ~ 1400 SmathV2 and sio IO
Isn't that harmfull for phone below of 1017 ?
And interwall beetwin max and min have any important?

From me:
Hello, this it thread of the Mercurius kernel dedicated for Player wifi 5.0, for jellybean roms.
I took name from greek god of speed
The aim is to provide a daily kernel which also will be a speed demon whenever you would like to(for gaming etc.).
Please do not ask any questions that are aswered here, also keep that topic clean. Please report feedback. But you can write anything his as soon as your post is connected to kernel

HUGE thanks to mevordel, for everything, setting up ssh server and letting me use it, his knowledge and base. I only added some features. He is the guy. Also to other developers.
Press thanks button if you use, I am curious of how many ppl use it.

Q: How to install it?
A:Simply apply via CWM
Q: What does not work?
A:Everything what deos not work on cm10
Q: What is O3 optimization?
A:
Mevordel said:
O3 is a compiler flag telling it to optimize for speed. Other options include O2 and O1, which do less optimization, and Osize, which tries to generate the smallest output. In stock, the graphics drivers were compiled with Osize. He changed it to O3.

-Well said. Generally it improves opengl es2.0 performance significantly for me
Q: Why my phone freezes/reboots/is unstable at overclocked frequencies?
A:Overclocking is not a obligatory feature. If you find any of frequencies unstable, then please install voltage control from market and mess up with voltages. Also wirte in the topic to hel me make kernel that will work for as many users as possible.

Yup, I am still doing it but I have just created separated topic to make it clearer.

Don't count on me I am more like copy&paste modder, not developer. I am just learning.
I can only improve existing kernel.

I think is not stable enought, this is because you get worst results.
I found less freeze (almost none) for my overclocks over 1.2GHz but much more launcher redraws, app crash, slow and laggy UI .Don't ask me why this happen .
Under 1.2GHz if I mess with voltages (even a bit) I got 100% a freeze.
