a guy from the samsung service told me that he can order 2 different camera modules but he doesn't know which one he will get - it is a lottery he said.
I found something more:
SAMSUNG MODULE
GH96-05139A - ASSY CAMERA-GT-I9100_8M_SEM_LSI_1/3.2"
GH96-05139A - it is product ID (PID)
ASSY CAMERA-GT-9100_8M - original part of 8Mpix camera for i9100
SEM_LSI is probably Samsung Semiconductor System LSI
(one foto here http://magboss.pl/kamera-8m-samsung-i9100-galaxy-s2-(oryginalna),a,pl,29650.html ) - metal casing
SONY MODULE (?)
GH96-05176A - ASSY CAMERA-MODULE,8M (SHW_M250S)
SHW_M250S - it is product code of i9100
as I found Sony(?) module is cheaper than Samsung. funny
...I am still searching...
ok next clue.
a guy from service sent me 2 photos of 2 modules. photos are from samsung service site. I don't have better quality.
samsung module:
GH96-05139A
it is LSI written and casing seems to be metal
sony(?) module:
GH96-05176A
no LSI but don't know what casing...
(thx Burgscheinkerkdeiktraast for info)
I just found out that there is NO Sony IMX105 (omef01) in stock! people from samsung service claim that this module is unavailable.
but! - we have new star! it is module with VCAF01 firmware. probably it is fixed Samsung (!) module with no stuttering and autofocus problems.
so, I start to search VCAF01
oh, maybe GH96-05176A or GH96-05139A is VCAF01 (?????)

as I know VCAF01 flashed on SCEF02 = macro mode only
probably I found SONY IMX105 module!!!! yesterday I recieved a message from one distributor that he has ordered modules with plastic casing. I called him and he confirmed that in few days (or maybe hours) he will get it and will tell me how it looks!
I will inform you when I know sth so stay tuned
so I ordered the camera module!
One thing is SURE: GH96-05176A has a PLASTIC CASING! - the lady who is selling it confirmed this. I hope it is SONY IMX105.
I paid about 65 euros with shipping - I know it is expensive but first thing is that I will sell my SCEF02 module and second - I WANT SONY!
I want also to help everyone who is interested in buying new module - now you will know the product ID of the spare part. maybe you will be able to find it cheaper.
and don't worry - If unfortunately it is SCEF or other crap I can send it back during 10 days.
I moved the thread here:

Hmm probably some Samsung or LG trolls
Yeah, it's Samsung troll Eldar.
I don't have any of those defects with mine.
none with mine as well.
Hi,
Can anyone confirm that the D6503 can be rooted and a normal (graphite) pencil or pen be used for input?
After the failure of the Tablet Z2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2-tablet/help/xperia-tablet-z2-pen-mode-problem-t2958122 to do this, I don't want to buy a version of the phone which does not support this feature.

stylises and all dont work but a pencil does
(pens dont work either btw)
Thank you for the reply.
For clarification, I want to know if the model D6503 is capable of doing what is shown in the following 2 youtube videos (the titles just say "Xperia Z2" without the model number):
1) "Sony Xperia Z2 Pencil Funtion Test" posted to youtube by Jaehoon Park, and
2) "Xperia Z2 with Pencil" posted to youtube by ZicmA Holy
[I had the links up, but the forum restricted me as I don't yet have 10 posts].

if A Z2 variant can then all of the Z2 versions can (they use the same touch sensor across them all)
Thanks for that - I've ordered the phone, and hope to post once I get it and test it.
Working
I got the Z2 (model D6503) and it's working - a metal-tipped pen (not the writing point, but the case around it) and graphite pencil have been tested and the phone responds fine.
It does not work with a plastic pen.
I have not rooted it, nor done anything to the settings - it worked straight out of the box.
The phone I have appears to be a UK version.
I'll try to do some video and post.

All Z2s have that ability from factory. I have been using mine long ago. It also accepts metals though you should be careful with that.
Yes, the Z2 has an additional screen layer, similar to the one found on XPERIA Z Ultra, so it accepts pencils, metal tip pens, spoons and the Sony Precise Stylus for the Z Ultra (SONY ES22). It's a shame that the Z3 tablet compact doesn't have this layer.

Just received the telephone the day before yesterday. Tried to get my HRM to couple to the device, to no avail. Looking into the problem with ANT+ tester, I discovered ANT HAL is completely missing (the ANT HAL service is present though)! WTF?
Sony advertises this phone as being ANT+ capable, but clearly it's not (yet!). I've contacted Sony about this, and are awaiting for their reply...
You mean you sent a message into the void, don't you?

Afraid so yes... But miracles do happen still...
Maybe you got a test or demo unit. ?

I'm about to buy this phone but the missing ANT+ support is stopping me to do so.
It is obvious that ANT+ support on Z5 series is missing. Neither the tech specs on the sony product page show ANT+ under connectivity nor the device list of the ANT+ consortium (http://www.thisisant.com/directory/) lists the Xperia Z5 devices. All previous Xperia devices were shown immediately after the release day on this list.
For me this looks like Sony has dropped ANT+ support. Maybe they try to make pressure on Garmin to lower the license cost for ANT+. Who knows.

That would be disturbing. But a bit strange though, since ANT+ tester shows full ANT+ hardware and ANT HAL service etc. being present in the phone.
Reply from Sony on my enquiry was of course to throw back more questions to me and giving stupid advice like "repair your phone with out PC Companion software". When I checked this suggestion, just out of curiosity, the Z5 series wasn't even supported in this software, can you imagine? Fail, fail, fail.
Yeah looks like they crippled/removed ANT+ support in the last minute before release, maybe they missed to pay the license I really hope ANT+ support will be added with the next update.

Well, here in the Netherlands I don't even get replies from the Sony reps anymore. I've been exchanging FB messages with support, but all they do is refer to this stupid PC Companion software, which obviously can't solve the problem (especially since my Z5c is going completely crazy when I try to connect it to Win10 through USB. It's impossible to get a stable connection with the computer)...
As a "solution" I've now bought a dual-band HRM strap (Bluetooth and ANT+ capable) which set me back another 60 euros. Still better than having to wait for Sony to fix the problem they've created themselves, because that can take a long while, if ever!

none of mobile producers will admin that they released software with gaps, i expect this to be fixed in the new update
no update from sony yet, no ANT+ dedicated services installed by default
Surely the z5c is equipped with ANT+ h/w, just for whatever reason Sony haven't activated it into the current firmware... Correct? Or the device totally not equipped for ANT+?

I hope Z5 line is ANT+ equipped as per official specs but not enabled yet due to certification process not completed (as devices still not visible on thisisant website)
I have return mine today and asked for replacement (white unit)
Strange as in store Z5c had no problems detecting my suunto hrm

Z5C and Z5 Premium are actually listed now. But very strange that the (standard) Z5 is not listed.
Guys, everything you need to connect ANT+ device is here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dsi.ant.service.socket
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dsi.ant.plugins.antplus
and basic app to check if it works (assuming you have ANT+ device connected) is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dsi.ant.hrmon_antplus
AFAIR the same situation was with Z3C. I installed two first apps and connected my old Garmin HRM. With Endomondo (free) is working like a charm. You need only to activate in Endomondo options.

Hello, I have purchased Redmi Note 4 (sd 625) India via Flipkart. The same phone is also purchased by my friend via Flipkart.
But I notice variation between my and his camera and when I dig out the problem I come to the result that both phone has different camera modules.
I've a Sony imx258 back camera but he has a Samsung S5k3l8 back camera. So, I contacted some more Redmi Note 4 users and some of them have Samsung Sensor while some have sony.
So my question is while flashing any custom ROM will my camera work or not? As I think the camera blobs for both devices are different.
Note:- To view your camera sensor just go to Settings>About Phone>tap kernel version 5 times>version information.

Camera works fine for both sensors . However, the slow motion and other feature enabling tricks work only on Sony sensor.
You got lucky. Xiaomi changed the camera sensor from first Sony to Samsung and then to Omnivision. Sony is the best, Samsung is fine and Omnivision is the worst out of this three sensors.
You shouldn't get any difference if installing a custom ROM

Technically it should work because the drivers for the 3 different modules are already installed within the ROM.
What is the product number of you and your friend's device? It should be on the box (2016101 or 2016102). And would you be able to take a picture of your friend's Sony module? A lot of people on a different thread are trying to replace their Samusng/Omnivision modules with about 50% success because we don't know the exact numbers of module code of the IMX258
Thanks in advance!
