Is it possible at all to root with the 2.6.39.4 [email protected] #1
If you're running Android 4.anything that you upgraded using OTA (i.e. not with the AiO tool) then it cannot be rooted. No known exploits are yet usable to gain su access on ICS.

Ok guys so for some stupid reason i decided not to root while on honeycomb and only found out about the advantages of using a tablet as a super user after i got ICS. Is there anyway i can root ICS kernel 2.6.39.4 [email protected] #1 or at least downgrade back to honeycomb? I tried re-setting it to factory settings but for some reason it stayed as ICS
I''m running 10.4.2.18 JB. I'm a bit confused as to which method to use. I was rooted with vipermod back when I was still using ICS, but had to remove root in order to upgrade to JB.
Only way is bootloader unlock method afaik
Hello everyone
I've tried searching for an answer to my question on this thread, but I can't seem to find one. I have a roooted LG Optimus L9 (P760) on T-Mobile using ICS. Here is the software information:
Android Version: 4.0.4
Build Number: IMM76L
Software Version: P76910g
I recently received the OTA update to Jelly Bean. I read elsewhere that I could install it and then, using Voodoo Keeper, revert back to my previous root with JB. The OTA update downloads fine. When I go to click install and reboot, the phone begins to reboot. Unfortunately, it immediately shows a 'dead' Android bot with its chest opened up and an X on top. After a few minutes, the phone will automatically reboot to the rooted ICS profile.
What am I missing in this process? Must I perform an additional step or deactivate an app? I have SuperUser, Titanium Backup and Voodoo Keeper installed.
Thanks everyone for your support!
Hi,
I am trying to root my phone, running on Android 4.3 Build JSS15J. I stumbled upon the S3 Toolkit, but my version nr. and build aren't included, and I wouldn't know which build to pick, to safely run this.
I have also tried Framaroot version 1.8.0, and it provides me with the Aragon option, which is an exploit that's not available sadly.
Has anyone successfully rooted this version, and can guide me in the right direction?
I'm on I605VRALL4, rooted (via CASUAL). I want to get off Android 4.1.1 because of Heartbleed but I want to stay rooted and I'd prefer to keep an unlocked bootloader. What's the highest level of stock Android that I can get to from where I'm at and still have root and an unlocked bootloader?
