[Q] On average, how many times do you check your phone? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Was wondering how often you check your phone. I average about 50 times a day. Do you consider that excessive? I checked mine using this app

Four times.
First session starts after waking up.
Second, after eating breakfast.
Third and fourth after lunch and dinner, respectively.
Forgetful sometimes though... So, I may only check two or three times due to those missing meals.

Just downloaded, let's see.
Sent from Taptalk. Please excuse my brevity.

I'm afraid to see the result! I'd guess somewhere around 50 times/day would be a reasonable estimate.

Saturday's and Sundays are usually around 20 or so for me. Weekdays jumps to 50s as i tend to use my phone a lot for work.

Just four times a day? Why would you buy a smartphone if you use it so little?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

I`m on my phone almost all my free time when I`m not home. And some times some apps help my work. And I listen to music when I walk around. So I guess A LOT....

The implication is that once I grab my hands on the phone, I'm not putting the sucker down for at least four hours! Probably have had a couple days off like that honestly.
Last I did a "normal" unlock calculation on a work day, it was 26 times on average.

you are making others look bad fantasm

Cool app . I'm somewhere between 40-50 times a day :silly: .

Every second
Cheers

50 looks like the average around here. May be i am not that bad after all but then we are all xda users. We should compare with regular users.

I use phone every second of the day even in sleep
When i wake up, the first thing i do is take the phone and check fb. In the mid day, after the study time, its Modern Combat 3 multiplayer from 10:30 am to 5:00pm daily (because battery drops to 0% even when its charging ),
When its time to go to sleep, the last thing I do is check FB

You charged your phone 30 times in 22 hours? Maybe it's time for a new battery?
Samsung not putting a notification light on my phone means I'm constantly checking it to see if I missed anything. It's become a bit of a compulsion really...

52 times yesterday

Did you get a replacement phone.

Just curious as I just ordered a replacement phone today if anyone who has gotten one has had problems or noticed any difference in the screen. I ask because when I look at the order details on T-mobile site it says "High Resolution Screen." Probably just a generic term they are throwing in there but the other 2 bits of info are phone specific...well, kind of Samsung Vibrant™
* High Resolution Screen
* 1Ghz Processor
* 16 GB Built-in Memory
Like I said I'm just curious. I'll know what I have in a few days.
I got mine today. Same screen as the one I bought from t mobile. I'm guessing they are describing the super amoled screen

Thanks guys. Like I said I was just curious. No matter what it will still be better than my back up phone I'm using now. A 3 year old Blackberry Pearl that doesn't even have wifi let alone 3G connectivity. I'll be glad to be back on Vibrant and happily wait the 30 - 60 seconds for media scan as opposed to the five minutes I did this morning with the Pearl.

For everyone who bought their phones in June 2011

Hi guys
I'm looking at getting this phone in July when it's released in Canada. I just want to know how many people who bought the most recent phones are having problems with screens (yellowing), and the battery/reboot issues.
I love this phone but now I see all the problems it has I'm not as inclined to buy it...
Thanks,
Elliott

Can you get this thread closed by a mod and then create one exactly the same but add the option "I have no problems"?
i honestly dont have any issues with it..
Crap sorry I forgot that option...
Thanks for the replies
no problems with mine either. best phone ive had - easily.
I have the yellowing screen, but tbh, only when I searched for it, I noticed, on normal daylight outside or inside, while txting or browsing net, by watching movies or playing games, you willl NEVER notice it, unless you are looking for it. and its only when its showing darkgrey color and only when brightness is less than 50%, that was the only condition I was able to see it, any other color will NOT have this issue, and if you have combination of more colors, you have no chance to see it...
This cannot annoy me more than the fact that I will send my SGSII for repair and be without it for 2 weeks and then get it back with new display, but same issue..
Again here ... NO issues at all. Amazingly good phone!,
I have not noticed any battery or spontaneous reboots on my SGS. I bought it in early June.
Neither did I notice the yellow banding, but this does not mean that it is there.
no problems so far
I got my phone a week ago today, had no issues at all its a fantastic android, the best I have ever owned.
5 bad pixels here. No other issues.
No problems at all with the phone, best one I ever had
(and I'm now in my 50's, so I've had a lot of phones)
The unlucky people with problems are a bit like the unlucky HTC Desire owners, when it first came out many had to be returned for repair.
I dont have any of these problems. I got my phone 17th June

It's obviously not. It's not actually possible for it to use 0% of the battery and remain on. Hell - the battery would run dry if it wasn't even in the phone, given enough time, so it's never using 0% unless it's actually empty!!!
fellow canuck here using it on Fido. love it. no problems here. I never turn down my brightness below 100%, seems like a slap in the face to all the engineers who helped develop the super AMOLED+ screen
I got mine 7 days ago and it's back in it's box ready to go back! I should say I'm getting another one though.
Mine had a very poor microphone, so poor infact that when I called myself and left a voicemail, I couldn't understand it Also had a reception issue, and was generally a lemon!

Replacement note so much better

Here's an interesting thing. I am on my third note with the other two being replaced due to screen and USB plug issues respectively. I get my new note and it is remarkably better. The GPS works where it couldn't even lock before and the phone itself is sooo smooth. It this how it was supposed to work the whole time?
Did you find the coffee and bacon making feature yet? I hope your replacement is fully functioning.

Sent my Note in a week before my warranty was up to have the screen fixed. Now the screen is much better than it ever was before. The screen was great before but it is noticeably sharper and brighter. My buttons are also super bright now. I think the screen has to be a hardware upgrade that could only be in a new Note or replacement screen.

Yes ....but with a one time, $36.00 upgrade charge.
I've been a customer with them for nearly 15 years, since the early days and I also hold a level one business account.
So results for others will likely not be the same.
I've got 11 contracted devices in service with ATT, for my employees.
Having device replacements coming is much easier under those conditions.
They also let me keep the new device, and the tech told me to sell it for parts or repair the button and sell a new working device.
I've got a new power button coming Monday, and a shop I use regularly that will fix it for me too sell.
All together I'm placing 5 devices and their cases, chargers and packaging up for sale this week as I'm getting ready for the move into the note 2 this Tuesday.
I'm planning to stay around the note 1 section for a while, as we have many new users needing help from those of us who have been around this device for a while.
And I've also got duties to perform with the super thread and our Korean note users needing a section built inside the super thread space.....g

There are a bunch of other threads here about this issue, as well as in the Nexus help forums. This is a hardware failure and the only fix is a new motherboard or a new tablet. Don't waste your time trying to fix it through software.

Thanks I'll wait till the nexus tablet comes out then get that one then.
The help forum had a new suggestion. Take off the back, unplug the battery, plug it back in again (I cleaned the connectors with alcohol as well). As long as you're careful not to detach the camera it's an easy job - use a guitar plectrum to ease the back off... I've drained the battery completely for 3 days without a reoccurrence. It's probably not fixed - but it hasn't happened again yet.

New 6P Owner!

Hello fine people,
I ordered a Nexus 6P last night at 10 p.m., it arrived at 10 a.m., and after spending 1 hour reading on this forum, I am now bootloader unlocked, rooted and running Dark ROM (for now).
This was the easiest thanks @Heisenberg
Never had an easier time getting unlock and rooted.
Have any of you experienced a Huawei Mate 8 - I picked one up last month and soft bricked it 3 times in one week. You don't want to go there - with EMUI - a headache (but fun challenge) to mod. So, this device was juuuuuust a bit easier.
I am late to the party, but happy to own this great device as an upgrade to my Nexus 6. I look forward to reading, experiencing all the ROMs and great development for this device.
See y'all on the boards.

not a best buy unless you get it for $100, i paid $400 for a 128gb last year and it is still worthless,

also good luck making voice calls nobody can hear you on the other end the mic sucks it's noise cancellation is broken and google never bothered to fix it , also they remove miracast

my phone can't even get 2 hours with doing nothing at all , if i actually were to use a demanding app it would be considerably much less
and today i put it on hotspot for like 20 min its screen was off and it was in my pocket and it was considerably hot
just about any app i run on it it gets hot right away , even doing barely anything in chrome it get hot
it is nearly impossible to get it to get more than 2hr SOT even with brightness almost all the way down
the phone is worthless garbage it is dead after not even 2 hours of lite use , i never even bothered putting any games on it , it would probably explode
most demanding thing i tried to do was watch a movie on kodi , i get about 20 min into it and the phone is alredy going dead and at 15% after 20 min

Well, if you insist, though I'm not getting any of the problems you're experiencing, like voice calls and overheating, at least no more than any other phone. It looks like your definition of a best buy reflects your experience. I bought my 64GB in November and for the price I paid for it in my region, it was a best buy compared to other phones. It's even cheaper now. Haven't experienced a single freeze till now. A friend bought the Mate 9 a couple of weeks ago. Stock and froze twice since then.

i think it is just defective then and probably 60% of them are the same way from what i read other places it does not seem isolated , and i don't usually do that i only did it today because i went to best buy to look for a new phone and their wifi sucks and none of their phones would go online and i wanted to test them , was looking at the axon 7 and the moto x pure as a replacement to this hunk of garbage, unfortunately they are all plugged in and no way to gauge battery life on them
and i have used hotspot on an old iphone 5 before and it never once got hot even after over an hour of being on , this thing was about to go all note 7 and burn my **** off after just 15 min of use
why would having more apps negatively effect battery?
this phone has barely anything on it and when i got it let almost nothing but the stock apps on it and it was always draining this fast , i left it with almost nothing but stock apps to test it and it never got more than 2:15 SOT
with nothing running, any app i run it gets warm chrome youtube doesn't matter what it gets really warm in 2 minutes and battery drains at like 1 or 2 % per minute , brightness at little over 1/8th no bluetooth on no gps no bluetooth location on
I think I got 5½ hrs before last year. I normally don't use more than 2 hrs cause of work. I had elex kernel with custom settings and it was still responsive as usual. I think the sot variations have to do with quality of chips and like with binning a cpu
