Hey fellow s3 users,I just got my s3, and I realized that the power button will get stuck at times, and cause the phone to reboot, has anyone encountered such a problem? Possible for me to get a one to one exchange?

Hello everyone,
Over the last 2 weeks, I have noticed considerable trouble with the Home key on my Tmobile Vibrant. I have to press the Home key literally 10 times before the press is recognized. It's really annoying. I am not having any problems with any of the other buttons on the phone besides the Home button.
There seems to be other people having this problem in this thread: http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f55/samsung-galaxy-s-vibrant-home-key-issue-37765/
I'm just curious if anyone else is having this issue. Perhaps I have a faulty device.... ???
I have this problem too. Is the ON button.
If you only had it for two weeks then just go to a tmo store and they should replace your phone.

I had this problem and its a known issue. You must replace it. I traded mine back and got a new one. If you want better results temporarily, I'm pretty sure you have to wait for the keys back light to go off and the press the home button. That worked for me temporarily until I exchanged it.

you could go to tmobile or wherever you bought it from to return it and check your screen protector
Sometimes when i press the power button on the side of my phone my phone will not fire up. I see the screen really vague. I need to press the button sometimes more them 10 times in order to get my phone working. It looks like the backlite is not working good. It is starting to piss me off.
Anyone else experiencing the same kind of problem?
No BackLite

Hey,
Sorry to say I don't know the answer to your question, but there is one thing I'd like to share with you. Samsung OLED displays don't have backlite. So it can't be broken either. Good luck finding a solution!
Stock rom = sent it back
Flash stock, if still not working, triangle away, Send it back..

I can sent it back but i dont want to miss my phone for some weeks if i can fix it myself. Then i have to go back to my S1
So you want a defective phone? Even if you fix it, you still have a defective phone. Get it sent back to the store or Samsung.. Surely you can live without it for the benefit of the time it comes to sell the device.

Are you sure you are on the most current official ROM? (This would be, starting today, Jellybean in a few countries)
Some old offical ROM's sometimes had the issue and it was annodying as hell. I have not seen it since switching to leaked Jellybean builds.
As the previous poster already said; there is no backlight so you should not be able to see anything. Maybe your eyes are playing tticks on you or you got some app such as ScreenFilter to act up.
Hi. I just bought my sgs3 last wednesday and loving it. My sgs3 was an unlocked Vodafone branded one that I immediately flashed with UK unbranded stock firmware. I had no problems with it except this afternoon where my phone screen suddenly wont turn on. My battery was around 70 percent so it was definitely not a battery issue. I pressed power button lots of times, as well as long press, and the home button too to no avail. In the end i had to resort to removing the battery and attaching it again.
Is this like a bug or just a random problem that happened to the phone? Was this caused by flashing the UK stock firnware? Or a hardware problem?
I am a Galaxy noob and I know I am getting paranoid here but I want to make sure so I can have the seller checked it ASAP.
THANKS

My power button stopped working today. I set it to wake in volume rocker. I can't restart my phone or boot into recovery anymore. My phone is out of warranty, so I can't send it in. Any idea for a fix?
Edit: it also seems that if I leave it in standby for too long I can't wake it with the volume rocker. This all just happened completely randomly today too...

try reading the other threads about power button issues before starting your own thread, about the same exact issue?
The only thread I found never resolved, so I thought I'd try my own thread.

There is no "resolving" the issue. Its H/W. Your ****s broke.
Fix it, have someone fix it, or use S/W apps as a workaround.
All listed in other threads.
Like the most recent.

what do you expect to get different than what the others got?
I don't know man, just checking. Some people know a lot more about these things then I do, thought maybe it might be software out something. Thanks for the help.

i had a faulty power button recently and it would keep restarting my phone basically anytime i touched it. i flashed 3 different roms on it to make sure it was a hardware problem and searching around i found that the phone is basically broken... luckily i was still within my the year for warranty so ive since replaced. im not sure if your power button just has stopped working all together or youre having other issues with it but from my experience you should start looking for a new phone
Damn, that sucks sorry man.. that's happened to me 3 months ago, luckily I still had the warranty...u might have to fork out the cash a buy a new phone... when is your next upgrade?
Next upgrade is in May. Oddly enough, when I took the back off to see if anything was visibly wrong, I tested it by pushing the actual switch (not the outside button cover) it worked. Then after putting it all back together everything works as normal. Hopefully it stays that way.

Hi, please bear in mind I am not an expert in repairing phones when replying!!
I have a Samsung S3 which is just stopping at the Samsung logo rather than booting up...
I have looked around the net & this forum and tried , holding the power, home & vol up button ...
but nothing happens..just still get the Samsung logo.
If I hold the power, home and vol down I do get custom os message.
The phone has a cracked screen.(which still works fine)...I am not bothered about the phone
as I have purchased a new one, but there are some photos and some contacts details I would really like to
try and recover...is there any hope?
Any help or advice (in laymans terms!) really appreciated.
