Dear XDA developers & Friends,
I have Sony Sk17i Mini Pro and my Back camera is showing a Black screen and it says Sony encountered a problem and it closes on its own.
I did a update to Android 4.0 from my WIFI connection but still this problem persists.
Please provide a solution.
Thanks & Regards,
Sal
There's no such thing as OTA update for ICS. You have to use PC Companion, as far as I know. We can't tell you what happened if you don't give us the right information.
Sir,
My front camera is working fine but as soon as I switch to back camera, a black screen comes and all the icons on the screen become disabled.
I had tried to update using PC companion but net kept disconnecting so I did update directly from phone and I am now on Android 4.0.
Please help me rectify the problem.
Please
Let me repeat that, I've never heard of the chance to upgrade via OTA. You'll have to wait for someone else's help, since I don't know what you are talking about. I'm sorry.

Uhm..PC Companion uses the WiFi to make the update...
To OP: Try Repair option in Update Service.
but he said he updated the sofware "directly from phone".

You mean you can connect the phone to your PC via WiFi and upgrade to ICS? I don't really think so, since the whole ROM will be erased and then ICS will be flashed... how can the WiFi connection be stable meanwhile?
I missed the second post from the OP...
Once again, repair with Update Service.
Oh, and WiFi hotspot is stable, I used it while on a trip(when I still had my LWW).
You used WiFi hotspot while upgrading the phone?

This is my first incursion into Android, so apologies if it's a basic question/has already been answered elsewhere (not that I could find it via search):
I have somehow lost the vibrate function
I have been installing quite a few apps & have rooted the phone, as befits my first contact with Android , also I conected via PC connect to the update service, and it downloaded an (outdated) update.
It may well have been while trying different profile managers - but despite enabling vibrate in the system menu, and in the profiles of the current profiles app I'm using (called Profiles), no joy.
All suggestions gratefully received
Tia.
responding to the onslaught of concerned posters
having got into the service menu, it seems the vibrate function is not working.
Doing some serious googling on the subject, this appears to be a RELATIVELY COMMON issue with this terminal - so be aware.
(mine has disappeared into SE technical service for a couple of weeks to get repaired)
What happened with yours? Did it get fixed? Anything we can do to fix it ourselves?
maybe try repair it with PC Companion.

You can´t fix hardware failure with software update, mate.
Hello guys
My Sony Xperia Sola was perfect until i updated to ICS. ICS is very fast, smooth and beautiful software but since then i am experiencing a wifi problem. My wifi get frozen and stuck to connected. I can't disconnect it. The only way to disconnect it is to switch of the phone. I foundnd a "solution" to this problem. Problem seems to disappear if you make a factory reset of the phone. But after a week it comes again. It's so annoying. My "solution" is to make back up-and restore once a week to avoid the problem. If i didn't do the factory reset problem comes again. Is there any solution to this issue? I heard a lot who have this problem after updated to ICS(problems appears and to xperia u)
Thank you

flash ur device using flash tool, it can be found in the forum too, and it shall be fine after that, just dont know that how long it can last...
same issue
I completely understand the original post.
I don't want to bother with any routers, 'cause it had been working fine before. It mustn't be a question of router settings.
Some software upgrade of the phone might have caused this problem and I'm still waiting for any reply from Sony on this. If they don't do anything in a month I'm gonna push this **** device to a repair station, though I don't feel much desire for the mess that comes with this procedure.
Generally the phone is very slow (and sometimes it opens the phonebook instead of call list, sometimes it take 10 secs, etc.), I wanna get rid of it but I have to wait till the end of my telephony contract's period.
I have a samsung Galaxy S3 GT-19300.I got it from Italy.I Used It for sometime and then the update 4.1.2 came out.So I Installed It.Then Minor Wifi Problems Came.I somehow Fixed It,using Methods I Found From The Internet. Then I Didnt Use Wifi For Sometime As My ROuter Was Broken,And When I Got A New One ,I Tryed connecting To WIFI ,But It wouldnt turn on.
In The Notification Panel when I Press the wifi button ,it turns light green and then becomes normal again. In settings when I Go to Wifi and turn it on,it keeps on saying turning on for sometime and becomes Off again.
I almost Tried Every Solution On The Web.I Tried Dialling *0011* and turning power save off.I Flashed New Firmware around 4 times.(now im currently running 4.3,got it from Cnet)And In All Of Them ,Wifi Doesnt Turn On.Then I Went To Desperate Measures I Rooted My Phone, and tried many Fixes But It Still Didnt Work.
Right now im thinking, something must be wrong with the phone`s wifi adapter.(Physically)AND HOW I WISH THAT IS WRONG.
So i Really REALLY APRECIATE It If U can Help Me.Now That my warranty is void as well,U People are My Only hope.Im Running Very Low On Money so im hoping For A Free Fix.I still even have the Idea Of reverting it Back To 4.1.1.But that Would Make My Phone Lose A Lot Of Features,i Dont Like That. But Anyway If Thats My Only Choice Ill Take It.
Also I Live In Sri Lanka,I Tried Another Reigon update and then My Mobile carrier Didnt work, also wifi didnt work as well.
This Is My First Post Any Help would be appreciated.
Thank You.
P.S - I Would Rather Prefer A Fix In 4.3 or 4.2.2 Other Than The Link To 4.1.1.

Hi guys,
This is my first post.
I just got a Sony Z2, and yesterday I updated it to latest firmware 17.1.1.A.0.402 using flashtool. After that, everytime when I switch off my phone and turn it on, the message of "...android.process.acore has stopped" appeared.
I tried to flashed the phone again using PC Companion to re-update the same firmware. I though the error message has gone but than it is still there.
I have tried several ways as mentioned in this forum but the problem seem to be there. I don't see any problem/error caused by this error message yet.
Any idea/solution to completely remove the message?
Go into settings > apps > all apps, clear all data for anything relating to contacts then all will be fine, make sure contacts are backed up tho of course

I have tried and have not seen the message. Will keep you updated if it has conpletely gone

Update: It happened again when I reboot my phone today. Is it possible a firmware bug?
I should wait for the next release, hope Sony will fix this issue.
Regards,
I'm on romaur which is 402 and haven't seen this error since I wiped contacts data so not sure, you still on stock or?

I also have the same issue as the OP. It particularly happened after I upgraded to .402 using PC companion. The message will appear always after restarting. My devices has not been rooted. Tried to clear data and cache for contact apps, but after restarting, the message appeared again. I am still lazy to do a re-install because aside from the message appearing only after a restart, there are no other major effect to my Z2's performance. but clearing it will be nice though.
I have the same thing when i touch the phone immediatly when it just restarted, but when i restart and leave it untill screen goes off i don't get the message.

Hi guys,
Thank you for your info.
I tried to disable contact sync of Viber and I think the message has temporarily gone. Sometimes it still pop up but not as often as before I disabled the contact sync of Viber.
Apparently, this problem is caused by contact synchronisation between Viber, Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp, etc. Other users, such as Samsung phone users, reported that they have the same issue but when they turned off contact sync of the above-mentioned apps, the error message somehow has gone.
To be honest, I have just recently switched to android from iPhone, and I have been usings iOS for years and never seen any kind of issue/error like this on iOS. However, Sony Z2 is one of the greatest phone I ever owned and I am so happy with it, specially its crazy battery life.
Hope you guys will share your solution here if someone can fix it permanently.
Cheers,

possible fix
i had this problem, amongst others stopping my phone. i pulled the sim card out, then rebooted the phone. the phone then showed it was updating all apps i let it boot up and it seemed to work. pulled battery and put sim card back in. and all ok so far. i have sent my phone 3 times away to vodafone for this repair, with android.clock stopping, android.phone stopped working and the phone actually crashing on the samsung screen and not even booting up. each time all they do is a factory reset. like duhhhh, i have never thought of that (sarcasm). i am hoping that doing this, will give my phone some sort of permanency in it's repair. i have not rooted the phone, it is stock.
Vodofone refused to replace the handset even though it had been in so many times for repair. word of advice. steer clear of vodafone. i am cancelling all my contracts with them.
sorry that went off topic, but i want a phone that works and vodafone will not help you in that matter.

Xperia's have unremovable batteries, maybe you should steer clear of Samsungs
Is that a good thing or a bad thing though? Cos sometimes taking a battery out is what could be needed to fix a problem.
But point taken. Perhaps a change of manufacturer would help

I know people who advocated pulling the battery from devices as the only answer but I've yet to come across a situation on any device which couldn't be handled with >adb reboot or a three finger reset.
There's actually a method on Xperia devices, to disconnect the battery and plug it back. It's called "Hard Reset". Yeah you don't take the battery out in reality, but this method does it in Matrix dimension. So, the consequences are the same.
Hi,
I bought a new Sony Xperia Z2 and installed whatsapp on it. In the beginning there were no issues, but eventually, while using whatsapp the phone started freezing and everytime I have to hard shutdown inorder to get the phone back online to work normally. This only happens when I use whatsapp. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application. Is there a way to overcome this issue? Please suggest a work around. Thanks in advance.:crying::crying:

this sounds like a framework issue
try repairing your device via sony pc companion
Also, I tried using the pc companion to repair the phone. It started working much better till I installed whatsapp again, that the freezing started again. Is there any way to know what is causing the problem? Any suggestions on how to tweak the software to prevent it from occuring once again. Please advice

It seems that nobody else has come with such an issue or it's relatively new that nobody has an answer to, yet!!
Could you let me know, if possible, whether a sim card would have anything to do with this issue? I contacted the service centre and they asked me to change my sim card and check. As I have also mentioned that I have already tried repairing the phone using PC companion. Any suggestions/advices are welcome.
Thanks...
