[Q]Official ICS ftf to be flashed to an unlocked bootloader? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

im a little bit confused.. just wanna know.. is it necessary for users with unlocked bootloader to flash the relock BL ftf first before flashing official ICS ftf or we can proceed to flashing official ics ftf w/o relocking the bootloader?

See my FAQ thread on updating to ICS.
Thanks,
Rick

You don't need to relock it. You only need to relock the bootloader if you plan to upgrade using PCC/SUS

Unlock Bootloader - downgrading

if i want to downgrade my FW from .62 i must unlock bootloader?
there is no way to root .62 fw, right?
yeah, no way to root .62
if u want to root, flash to .58 fw,
or use custom kernel.

To flash firmware u dont need to unlock bootloader. Unlocking is needed to boot custom kernels.

Relocking bootloader requires stock kernel. Kernel is included in a ftf file. The complete stock firmware is in ftf file, which you need to install via Flashtool.

relock your bootloader by flash relock bootloader.ftf with flashtool

What steps require to re-lock bootloader (Xperia S)

My Xperia S is unlocked bootloader, using [email protected] rom with ICS15 kernel with CWM recovery. If I want to re-lock bootloader what steps needed to flash stock ICS rom. I mean, do I flash stock rom first and than re-lock BL or otherwise. I am asking this because the rom I am using is for unlocked BL therefore when I re-lock the BL there will be conflict which will force the phone to stop working. The kernel I am using will work with stock rom? If someone guide me how to start the process with step-by-step guide. Thanks

Hi monivan. Sorry for my ignorance. The kernel I am using (ICS15) is not stock? If no, from where I get stock kernel and how do I flash it. CWM or Flashtool.
if you have a ftf for stock ics, extract the ftf using winrar or 7zip then look for kernel.sin, flash it via fastboot, or you can flash via flashtool, uncheck everything except kernel.

Can a rooted Xperia Go be updated to Jellybean through PC Companion???

I have Xperia Go with ICS rooted. I just wanted to know as and when Jellybean is officially launched can i update my rooted xperia go to Jellybean through PC companion or i have to unroot first
Did you unlock bootloader? It sounds silly but for some reason, I've this feeling that you can get root/flast custom roms with a locked bootloader >_>
Anyways:
Locked bootloader: Yes
Unlocked bootloader: No.
Just wait for some kind soul to post a .ftf file and flash via flashboot.

If your BL is Locked then its not a problem, you can just update it. But if you have unlocked ur BL then you first need to relock it to update official fw.
