Clicking on the home button to turn the home screen on. Double clicking to get the music player on screen. Anyone getting the widgets on launcher 7 to disappear right after pushing them? They reappear after scrolling the home screen.
I'm also disappointed with the music players and podcast downloading. Can't get Armstrong & Getty (norcal) and frisky radio podcasts.

whats the difference if u press the 'power on' (disply on) button on the i717?
music players and podcasts download is all dependent on the software/app u are using, if u are just using the burned in version on the stock rom, u might wanna try the hundreds of different apps you can download in the store. find something that suits u and customize it to ur preference, thats the beauty of android
The only thing I miss is.......I'll get back to you on that one. lol

There are tons of podcasts apps. I personally use TuneIn Radio Pro for internet radio and podcast type things. Just find one you like with good reviews. Not hard.

Any time you switch platforms you run into little things that you wish came across.
For me it was:
Two Apps:
- LUX Deluxe
- MotionX GPS
And OS feature:
- the text selection/editing/clipboard on iOS is superior. I haven't found anything close to as clean on Android yet. (Any tips?)
Everything else is way better on Android for my purposes.
I've actually found the ICS clipboard to be superior to GB's

I miss podcasts too. I know there are apps but I have yet to find one that finds all of the pods I used to download. I think it's because certain podcasts are too large and/or can only be downloaded via wifi from iTunes...
I tried a PC program called Notpod to transfer my podcasts from iTunes to my phone, but it requires you to personally manage the sync process depending on which pods you want to keep/delete on the phone. That and my progress in the podcast is never saved, it always starts over if I stop and listen later.
if you miss the iphone home button so badly, you picked the wrong galaxy note
should have gone with the n7000.
Thanks for the relies all.
A physical home button is easier and larger target to press.
I used the free version of tunein and wasn't impressed. I'll try it again.
I found the iTunes podcasts on my pc and transferred them directly to my GNote. They were already mp3 format so it was a piece of cake.
Another thread mentioned deleting data and cache from music and media apps and that removed the dead links.
All I want now is a music and weather widget that doesn't disappear on launcher7. Oh that and launcher8.
Have you considered using Google Reader to subscribe to podcasts? I do that since every podcast has an rss fees, then I personal use BeyondPod for downloading and playing. You can stream too if you wanted.
Much easier than needing to sync with my computer since you just login with your Google account and you're good to go.
Every podcast I used on my old iPhone, I've been able to subscribe to its rss feed using Google Reader.

I used DoggCatcher for podcasts. Its a bit pricy but definitely worth it. Both podcasts you've mentioned can be searched and added right inside the app.

Yeah. I was a windows phone and Android fan back before the first iPad, and I would have bought the first iPad if it had a front facing camera as my SO was in another state far away. When it didn't I knew they were all about the incremental upgrades and have never considered then since.

Stock player on HC doesn't seem to be able to support high res album art as normal stock player usually just ends up showing a fit sized thumbnail.
Try flashing Google Music. It's a better replacement for stock and available via Gapps that you can install. Had no issues with it being a stock player, Does the job too.

As far as I know their cloud service is only open to people in the US.
That and also it's temporarily down I think due to the whole SOPA/Acta thing going on. Since it back's up all your music to an online personal storage.

I thought I had been updated on Youtube and such, then I faked to US one and guess what, major Google updates (._.' ) the other day there was another Google Music update.

I noticed that too on my un-jailbreaked iPad. I would suspect some resident XSS/javascript. Especially since the ipad is a closed/protected environment.
Funny thing is that it happened to me twice while browsing the forbes website which I would consider super serious
I cleaned all the cookies and stuff and seems to be gone since then...
PS: If someone knows more details regarding this attack and technical details I would be very interested. The fact that it even affects the iPad is fun
Use a more secure browser like Firefox and install AdFree.

I don't think any other post on XDA has made me crack up quite so much! Absolutely brilliant!!!!
Im trying to find a problem in this. More to the point though, are they any good?
I dont even think this is a galaxy s3 - only problem. I got this **** on my galaxy s1, now some times on my galaxy s3, when I was trying to visit xda devs homepage. I was so ****ing upset @@
And dont come with the "If you know what I mean" meme, this isnt ****in funny guys, thats just freaky annoying. If I'm searching for some useful stuff for my phone, suddenly there is a stupid relink to a site like "uporn" or some ****, I could smash my phone against the wall.
So, this is more or less a major problem on the android community, and I think, on iOS there is the same problem, especially on jailbroken devices.
hopefully someone can find the problem
btw I had this problem, when I was on my rooted ICS-Galaxy s1 and on my actually rooted s3 -.-'' Dont know if it has something to do with it, but I dont hope so. :S
I saw "porn" on the title and ended up here..... don't know why...
Does the problem occur only under 3G(4G w/e)? Or also under wifi?
Try deleting under your APN settings the proxy for your provider.... might be some prank been played to your Provider :silly:
Or maybe a weird app you installed "changed something" on your "hosts" files...
It comes on 3G and Wifi on my phone (at least the SGS1, the s3 had this problem only a few times )
And this really cant be that the providers could do this ****, if yes, I would sue the **** out if them and get a pay-free contract for life.
I'd say you downloaded an app that has installed another app on your phone that sends spam.
Try removing all your downloaded apps then use the phone for a week if it doesn't happen then you know its an app, if it does happen then you know its a site.
I use chrome and dont get this issue.
Also just because an app is in the app store does not mean it is safe, I always Google the app before I install it . Also apps that I'm really not sure about I download onto my computer the I scan for virus then I send via email to my phone.
Another thing it may be is if you have you chrome desktop bookmarks synced then it could be coming from the desktop sync.
Check your homepage on your PC and your home page on your phone make sure it is Google not captain stab in

Quite possibly someone on your network is using a network spoofer and redirecting your phone to those sites. Or you downloaded an app that's doing it. Remove any fishy/unnecessary apps and reset/check your hosts file

It's a combination of apps that he put together. He uses go launcher, fancy widgets, multilive wallpaper and simple text as well as other apps. Here is his video on how he put it together and exactly what he uses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c39PXAr9_F8&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Yeah that first video I saw back in late November when the Note 2 picked my interest and well let's just say that video is what I call a "seal-the-deal"er. Once I saw it, I knew I was getting this phone. I subsequently showed the video to my 20 year old younger brother who was up for a new phone, he had at the time a Droid X which was going rogue randomly if you know about the terribad Motorola self-aware bugs lol, so when he saw that Note 2 replacing PC vid he went nuts and was as hyped up as a grown man can get over a piece of technology.
I have an MHL adapter and have hooked my Note 2 up to my 24" 1200p monitor but I have yet to really find a need to actually use it. My monitor happens to also be hooked up to my 6 core 4.2Ghz/16GB RAM/5870HD 2GB desktop computer so why bother? What's to gain from it? Not a whole lot unfortunately. It's nice to go out to someone else's place and hook it up, maybe play some emulator games on it using bluetooth Sixaxis controller, but other than that it really is just for bragging rights.
^Two things:
1) a 20 year old is far from a grown-ass man. Far from it.
2) 1200p? Enlighten us with this new technology. Samsung or Sony might be interested.
Having said that, awesome video
