Hi,

I have windows vista service pack 2. I have installed the samsung mobile usb driver and also MTP driver from microsoft, but the issue remained the same

I have tried all that... Still it fails... I guess it may be an issue with my PC... Would try with another PC now..

I have the same problem and I have tried it on two different computers with the Galaxy S3. Both computers are running Windows 7 64 bit. My son also has the S3 with a Mac computer. after installing Kies he has no problems. I guess Samsung needs to work on the drivers for windows as I have seen that many people are having problems. Call Samsung and report the problem (I did). The more people that call the faster it will be resolved.

i had this problem. pc didnt recognize it. took it to my brothers pc and still didnt work. it got fixed when i factory reset the phone and boom it worked on my pc running windows 7 64bit. and it also worked on my brothers pc

Well I finally found a solution - my son brought his S3 over and it worked so I figured I needed to do a factory reset of the phone, after I did that it connected without any problems. Doing a factory reset was a real pain since it also wipes out the 16gb of internal memory, and naturally I had to reinstall all my apps but it worked and I can connect without any problems. (Windows 7 64 bit laptop and desktop).

[q] ~~~ phone not connecting to pc ~~~

Hi guys,
Last week my rooted S2 was getting recognized on my PC and my friend's PC. But today when I tried, both Kies and mass storage are not getting recognized. Things I have tried -
1. Reinstalling Kies.
2. Reinstalling all drivers.
3. Some websites said some cache may be causing this issue; searched for all cache and deleted the long file names.
4. Phone is not getting detected by Odin either.
5. Wiped cache partition in recovery.
I'm planning to do a factory reset as a last resort after backing up apps with Titanium backup.
The issue started after I had flashed my S2 with MIUI rom. Now I went back to stock ROM and deleted all MIUI backup but still facing this issue. Please help!!
Note - When I plug in the phone, it says MTP connected and gets charged, but PC is not recognizing the device.
Thanks!
have you tried unticking/ticking usb debugging?
Try with the phone connected to pc and if that doesn't work try unconnecting first.
Does anyone know why the new KIES is not detecting??
@thevarunfactor : I am facing the same problem of Kies not detecting my phone.
@Killall : Your answer is NOT CLEAR and very CONFUSING!
I am facing a new problem with the latest version of Kies (Kies_2.0.3.11082_152_2). It fails to connect with the phone and shows the error, "cannot start service on this device. Pls disconnect and reconnect the device". What does this mean? Have tried everything. From re-installing Kies to re-installing device drivers using the Connection Error Resolution thing in the Tools menu of Kies. It was connecting fine till yesterday.
My laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium which is fully updated. And my phone is CF Rooted KF3 with Stock Kernel. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Ok. Never mind. I fixed it. Don't know if it is a permanent fix though. This is how I did it........Tick the USB Debugging option first and then connect. It will install a few drivers. Then disconnect and Un-tick the USB Debugging option, then reconnect. It starts recognizing. I guess there is some issue with Laptops using Windows 7 x64
Thanks guys.. But still facing problems.. Now I even wiped all the data and did a factory reset.. Still I'm facing problems

You have a driver issue, please don't try to tell us, the experiences the problem is something else, use common sense, uninstall Kies, reboot your computer and install again. If that doesn't do it then you have a problem with your cable or your phone

you did make sure that Samsung Kies is not running? (even in Task Manager!). Best way is to de-install Kies for good after having the drivers installed.

If Odin recognizes the Note II with the same USB cable etc., there has to be something wrong with the SIII I guess?
Usually you just have to make sure that (1) Kies is not running, (2) you have the drivers installed and (3) you are in download mode as per the guides.
What operating system are you on? If Windows 8 you might want to have a look here
windows 8 x86

when you connect phone via usb to pc, it should first install drivers. did that happen? if it doesn't, there's no chance odin can recognize phone.

JJEgan asked about your phone buddy! not about the names of phones you own!
a couple of days of searching and this is the closest i get to my issue but still no where near a resolution
OTA update of Resurrection ROM went bad, lost everything (it happened at 3% battery completely without my consent and knowledge) I just found my phone stuck on failed encryption message and crap... no backup!!!
I went ahead and deleted everything, cache, system, dalvik... Flashed RR once more to find phone's working and all but that's not acceptable because I just can't get Odin to connect no matter what computer I used and every possible usb port I can access...
Drivers are updated and working because any other mode than download will have the GT-I9300 detected.
so what gives? well, all my readings and forum scouring have lead me to believe that it's a bootloader issue as (if I'm not mistaken) download mode gets loaded from there.
So now, logical action is to try to flash an original bootloader from an original firmware (latest or not) to see if that fixes the problem.
Any ideas?

Forgot to ask, would it be possible, obviously since I can't do that through Odin, to modify a recovery.zip (with META-INF folder and recovery.img) by removing the recovery image and replacing it with the sboot.bin from an original firmware ?

I ask this because that's how i managed to flash TWRP recovery through CWM, not sure i'd take a chance and flash bootloader this way

Problem connecting Galaxy S3 with PC

Hi guys i recently bought a galaxy s3 and i'm trying to connect it with my PC to transfer songs apk's movies and etc. The thing is tha when i first tried to connect it i got a message that a file is missing with the name "wsadb.sys" after a little search i learn that it needs kies for the connection so i install the program and after i tried again i got another message a different one this time :
"Cannot Install this Hardware.
There was a problem installing this hardware: MTP Device
An error occurred during the installation of the device.
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."
can someone help me with that please???

nothing i got the same message
"Cannot Install this Hardware.

isn't there any one else who had the same problem?
Haven't had this problem myself.
But what you can try is going to device manager and there searching for you phone and removing the drivers.
Then install the samsung USB drivers or KIES. And after that connecting your phone.
You can also try another USB port. And try to switch between USB2 and 3 ports. Sometimes the USB3 drivers installed can make a fuss with the connection.
I hope this helps
Kies give away, only drivers
Then start the download or cwm and connect to pc.
Pc installs/driwers,mtp/ itself in this mode

S6 edge brick

I have S6 edge on Rogers network G925W8, and I was trying to root it using chainfire's g925f, midway process My Phone got disconnected from odin and IDK why, now screen stuck and saying "Error occured while updating. Use the Emergency recovery function on smart switch. But the thing is my smart switch app can't detect my phone anymore, it says Unsupported Device. I even try to use kies and kies 3 but they are looking for recovery code, I don't even know where to get that, kies and smart switch didn't give me any code, I even tried software update and initialization, and it's looking for a S/N but I don't know what's the serial number of my phone, I can only see IMEI on box and my receipt. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same issue. But in my case I hear the USB sound when I plug in and plug out the USB cable, but the Smart Switch does not recognize my device. :/

1) is it still the same after restarting your PC and changing USB Ports?
2)kindly check in device manger if there is "unknown devices", Kindly post screen shot (with your device attached to the PC).
