Wait for solutions, thanks and sorry for my english.

Hi,
Try performing a hard reset by PC Companion, and start all over again. I recommend use flashtools to perform root, flash the baseband 015, and to install xrecovery.
Sorry for my bad english

Have you tried using different ROMs? Maybe it's just the one you're trying to install.
If not, try doing something as simple as a battery pull. Or maybe try resetting everything back to factory and starting over? You probably missed a step somewhere.

If you are trying to get into recovery and it goes straight to that message then that means u have an update.zip in your sdcard.if ur trying to install a rom and u get that message then ur rom u downloaded is just not good.

Try another Rom or re-download your Rom. Also you can try to re-flash your recovery.

Need help installing custom firmware

Hi, just found an 8X and thought of stylin' it a litte.. So i visited this site, and found lots of guides on how to install a custom fimrware.
My device is like this:
Xperia x8
Model: E15i
Current firmware version: 2.1-update1
baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53494915
core: 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
Version number: 2.1.1.A.0.6
Rooted with superOneClick
xRecovery Installed
I've tried to install serveral ROMs using xRecovery og CWM, and the only one i have had working was GingerCruzt rev 7, (since install instructions tells me install update with xrecovery) i did and i worked.. this rom just doesnt allow me to use wifi... so i wanted to upgrade.
but the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101691
says nothing about how to installer the later versions??? or is it just me?
How to install: only for rev 6 and 7
* Download ROM, install with xRecovery
Click to collapse
i then tried to install it (rev 7.4) as i did it with rev 7, just using xRecovery, but bootscreen just loops? anyone know what im doing wrong?
..
also, i tried to install Gingerdx, i did everything exactly as the guide said, but ended up with same problem looping bootscreen.
The only thing i hosnestly cant figure out is that the guide requirements says:
the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188486
Requirements
- Rooted
- ClockworkMod Recovery (v014+)
- Latest kernel and latest baseband xxx015
- Desire to delete Stock SE's Eclair
Click to collapse
Rooted - guess my phone is rooted good enough?? SuperOneClick should work for theis??
CWM - Yup i had CWM installing the update
Lates kerlen and lates baseband xxx015 - Well!? wtf is lates kernel and how do i get it? and so, "latest" aint that a changing factor? when guide was written the lates "thingy" could be something else than it is by now? help explain please
Desire to delete Stock SE's Eclair - fine with me?
i really hope to get some answers, Thank you!
Did you try fullwipe?
Sent from my X8 using XDA Premium App
In which order do i have to do the fullwipe? and what difference does it make? I'm still a little confused
Do full wipe just after you install new rom.
But you automagicly lose all your user data, so make backup b4 you do so
Just use xRecovery backup option. If something go wrong you can always restore.
Correct. You can us titanium backup also...

thanks guys, it seems to work by now!

Can you try and flash a newer Siyah?(3.5.2.)
If it doesnt work in CWM, try with Odin.
And when you're saying which kernel you're using, you dont need to write all that cryptic mumbo-jumbo. Siyah 3.2.4. is enough.

Try flashing the Kernel first using Flashtool and then boot into recovery. Now flash the ROM,should work now
try this.
first install any custom rom. anyone you like, any version.
make sure the phone should work on the rom.
then following step by step procedure install cm10.
this time it should flash without problems,.

The boot.img one?
Did that...
Also I installed another ROM and tried to install CM10, still getting error 7 and error 6 if I remove the get.prop lines.

Hi,
I just installed FXP142-cm-10-20121013-UNOFFICIAL-haida.zip. it is working fine. This was my first flash infact.
I think you need to change your kernel.
Steps I did :
1. copy FXP142-cm-10-20121013-UNOFFICIAL-haida.zip to sdcard
2. flash boot.img(which comes with the package), i did it with flashtool... You need this kernel (I am not sure as i am still a noob.)
3. then go to recovery and install above mentioned zip.

(SOLVED) Getting Failures in every single ROM installation

Folks, someone please help me out.
desperate situation here.
Xperia mini 15sti : rooted, unlocked bootloader, busyboxed, RecoveryX installed (version for 2.3.4) - firmware 4.0.42 version : gingerbread
None of the ROMs I've downloaded have worked so far. Everything results in an error or another. It is incredible how difficult I'm finding this to be.
CM10 : gives me assert errors. Saying its not smultron. I've removed the assert check in updater, then it starts giving me installation aborted after some time.
CM9 : same assert error
ParanoidAndroid : symlink errors during installation
AOKP : installation fails with set path something
I've spent countless hours on finding out the root cause of my problem - but given that everything fails, I am guessing there is something elementary that is missing (or wrong in my approach)
I'm on android gingerbread, and trying to jump to either JB or ICS nothing really works here (I follow the usual wipe data cache everything with every single install attempt so far. And then start with rooting flashing firmware back to 4.0.42, then recoverX, then new ROM etc)
please help

Okay your bootloader is unlocked for sure. now let's get to the rom part. Download any custom Rom for st15i based on stock Sony Rom. Try to flash it in CWM recovery. Okay, let me tell step by step tell what should be done.
1. Flash rage kernel for gb (3.0)(fixed)
2. Download any stock based gb Rom for your device . For example , clean and tweaked gingerbread Rom by serjar. Place the rom zip in the root of your sd card.
3.Reboot into CWM recovery (included in rage kernel no need to flash CWM separately)
4. Do factory wipe from CWM.
5. Flash the Rom zip from CWM . In the example case it is clean and tweaked gingerbread Rom from serjar .
If flashing throws any errors then post the error here.

No I think notepad++ does that by default. What you need to see is that it didnt give any assert error, tried to install for a while .. and then gave the error : installation aborted
Secondly, I'm getting errors in every single ROM out here. Now trying the GB rom .. will post the results, and thanks for assisting so far mate

Update! Cyanogenmod 7.2 installed OK. So gingerbread is installing
Is it because of RecoverX then? Because while installing RecoverX it asks which version of xperia mini do you want - and I use android 2.3.4 - could it be the recovery not letting JB or ICS install then? Its 5.0.2.8 or something the one that I have
Pl let me know what to do next. cheers
Notepad doesn't change eol to Unix by default. After installing a prerooted kernel you don't have to use recovery x . after all that's the point in a preroot kernel! It comes with root and CWM recovery in built! Now what? Start flashing Roms, kernels and start exploring the infinite possibilities of android!
and hit the thanks button, it's more appreciated than typing thanks

For ICS or JB you don't need recoverx, if you use a custom kernel you can just flash the kernel and it has cwm inbuilt.
1. Just push the FXP cm10 zip for your device to sd card, flash the boot.img,
2. boot in cwm,
3. backup,
4. wipe data/factory reset,
5. install zip from sd card,
6. (if you want install the google apps=gapps) :good:
Problem was with CWM ... once I installed a GB custom ROM, the recovery was flashed to 6.0 something automatically
Every single ROM I tried to install after has worked flawlessly.
I have an xperia Mini, and it just doesnt work though, so I'm opening another thread on the overheating issue (which doesnt get solved no matter what you do)
thanks
