Am I correct that none of the current roms (from stock to the bleeding edge) unlock the full potential of this tablet with respect to it being dual core?
Is honeycomb the only platform that actually supports this or are there versions of froyo and gingerbread that employ support for dual core processors?
What would this even mean for us? As I understand it, having multiple cores in a processor helps with multi-tasking. Both iOS and android are not true multi-tasking operating systems so would we even see a benefit?
Can a dev or someone who really knows what they're talking about straighten me out?
Newer versions will support multi-core systems

Are you a dev or a programmer? If so, can you elaborate?

Yeah, I wasn't trying to rag on the guy.... I'm a noob myself. I really would like someone in the know to make this clear for me ( and I'm sure others).
So... How about it devs? engineers? programers? I asked the question like 24 minutes ago.... sheesh.... you guys are really overpaid and overhyped...

Good article.
Technically speaking, the Tegra's are triple core devices, not including ancillary special purpose cores for video & audio.
2x Arm9's
1x Arm7
To bad it's not the bad boy with dual ARM11's....
So, the article indicated that froyo is dual core capable. Which ROM is built on froyo? What is the stock ROM built on? How can you tell?
Thanks
All of the GTab roms listed here are either froyo or gingerbread. Froyo is 2.2.x and gingerbread is 2.3.x
Thanks. How about the stock ROM? Is that dual-core capable? If so, what constitutes the performance improvement of these ROMs over the stock install?
I've just been watching loads of YouTube videos about people trying to install android on iPhones. My question is why?? Android is open source and iOS is closed source. Android users don't see developers porting iOS to android devices do we? Because its pointless and its never going to work. If they want android....buy an android device....simples

Android was designed so that it could be installed on any device. It's up to the developers to fix the drivers to work. Practical? No. Do it because we can? Hell yea!
Edit: for Yall that didn't know.. we got android on microwaves and washing machines now. Seriously. Look it up.

I just don't get it because nothing works on the iPhone version. So then its pretty much pointless. That's like me having iOS on my i9000 but nothing working within lol waste of space and pointless in my opinion

Ii realize that it has not officially come out, but I am curious if it is known if any features that ICS brings, we will not get? I know in the Apple world this can happen so I thought I would ask for ICS.

We have all of the "features" of ICS; in fact the CM9 Kangs have much more than what ICS vanilla has. Just go flash one of the ROMs in the dev section (I'd suggest AOKP) and find out for yourself. That is, of course, unless you're one of those folks on xda-DEVELOPERS that doesn't want to root...
This might be more helpful. It's a bit old but a good summary.

And Samsung will modify it for us with some "features".

Since the 4.1 update is coming to the i9100 next month, but is not officially scheduled for our phone, will the jb update for the i9100 provide us with full camera functionality on jellybean, or must we wait for i777 jb source to come out?

No it isn't? I mean, it works and all but in JellyBean ROMS, all that i have tried have 3rd party apps as the camera.apk, like jb camera +. There is no touch to focus, so i ask again, once the jb source is released for i1900, will there be FULL camera functionality for 4.1 roms?
The only JB we have is AOSP.
We have AOSP camera.
Its not broke. theres nothing missing
Touchjizz camera might have different functions.
And if any JB AOSP builds come with a 3rd party camera, the Dev is a retard.
So to answer your question. Who knows. havent seen JB Touchjizz. how can we know what the functions are.

First off, the rom you are running is NOT for the i777. It's a port from the i9100. So expect bugs and what not. It does have the JB AOSP stock camera. Every funtion is working for me on cMIUI 2.10.12. So must be you not wiping data/cache or doing something noobish.
Secondly, why did I even read this thread?

The ROM i am running is for the i777, im not stupid, i know its a port, making it FOR MY PHONE. lol there are no bugs really. it does NOT have the jb aosp stock camera. touch to focus does not wok and why would there be any problems with the way i flashed my ROM? thats not the problem im not a noob. Phalanx, You are not very smart are you? Why do there have to be some many obnoxiousness people on these forums. They go around, finding threads of people asking for help, and antagonize them for things. If you're going to be a prick and give unless, sarcastic comments that completly in no way are reverent to the topic, why do they even let you on here?
May i just ask why you think that forgetting to do a full wipe and formatting /system partition would make my touch to focus not be supported? You probably don't even know what touch to focus is, and oviously don't know what problem i am having. If you really need to pick on people over the internet to make yourself feel better, then i guess i'll just ignore it, but there are better ways to spend your time.
Also, MIUI is not closed source. I don't know why someone would say that, but its not true. I had reason to believe that the reason that we had to use a third party application as the camera app because the camera drivers weren't released for jellybean, but i guess its because the MIUI camera doesn't yet work with Samsung based jellybean ROMS.

Ha, alright. I didn't mean to respond so dramatically, its just really hard to understand internet-sarcasm. And i wouldn't have got mad if you weren't doing it more than just here, but what really got me goin' was how wiping before install is kinda irrelevant.
Anyway, to be honest... My question has not been answered.
I, personally, cannot find a single Jellybean ROM for the i777 that has the AOSP camera,Stock android camera, MIUI camera, Samsung camera, or any other fully functioning camera. Maybe i am missing something, but they all seem to be using this camera:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.moblynx.cameraics&hl=en
This is not the AOSP camera. And i am not incorrect in saying that it is not fully functional. There is no touch to focus. Now, some app developers have made apps (such as ICS Camera) that make you think they are touch to focus, advertising it as a funtion. But they are not true touch to focus. Yes, you can touch the screen and the camera will autofocus, but you cannot choose where in the depth of field you wish to focus. I have searched and searched, and wish someone could send me a link explaining this FULLY so i can shut up already. lol
So its past November now we were supposed to get the Jellybean upgrade the firmware was even leaked so its confirmed to be official everyone was waiting for a final version and it now December 4 and nothing?

Dude you've either been smoking crack or you haven't actually tried ANY custom roms.
I agree with OP... custom roms are made by people just in their spare time etc. whos going to be able to make a better ROM, the dozens of professionals Samsung actually pay money to make the ROM or some spotty kid in his spare time? The answer is obvious... even CM isn't as good because it's just based on the work Google already did. And google's work is obviously better because it's made by professionals.

I don't agree with that. There are so many devs in here that are better than the paid devs. Sure there's some that have a rare bug or two bug at least they get fixed in a timely manner on here. Look at the 4.2 debacle by Google.. It took them a whole to fix all the issues with it, when devs here wouldn't release it with that many bugs..
Just my 2 cents

Of course I've tried the CM9, CM10, AOKP and other such ones but the one Samsung offers has better support for the things I use my phone most for such as the camera especially, radio, video playback and all in all its just more stable the custom one's have the phone locking up or rebooting itself sometimes, reported by many users.
Those are the top things I can think of for me maybe your a different type user and these things don't matter for you. Also I like the little extra apps they add the Voice Recorder is really good.

I partially agree with your view, but in case of battery life my current rom CM9 stable is giving me the max life ever and phone's performance is way more higher , and yeah custom roms definitely have more features than stock roms, but custom roms which are not based on Samsung stock roms certainly lack important features like, Wifi direct, fm radio, fully capable H/W decoder (files like .avi are not supported), yeah I know Wifi direct is present in CM9 and yes we can connect but we can't send any files which makes it pointless, likewise there can be several problems in custom roms (even stable one's) which becomes evident when we use it for some time.
And also if battery life going haywire after installation of a custom roms is a common issue try wiping the battery stat file, or just charge the phone from low battery a couple of times.
Using GT - I9100
I thank those who give helpful comments
