Hello, have you seen that actually HTC Incredible S is achieving 4.0.4 version of android, we get 4.0.3, do you think HTC will bring 4.0.4 for us in future or more probably is 4.1 Jelly Bean ??
The differences between 4.0.3. and 4.0.4. are minor. And since we don't even officially have ICS yet, I doubt we will get Jelly Bean any time soon.

I doubt it will happen at all. There's a good chance that HTC will turn their cheek to a JB update for the EVO 3D. I'm not even so sure I'll even get it on my EVO 4G LTE anytime soon...

I can almost gaurantee that the EVO 3D will not receive an official JB update. We will get (some time ;() the ICS with Sense 3.6, but that will be all. I believe Google asked or demands OEMs to maintain a device as far as software goes for like 18 months. I think JB will fall far out of that. At this rate, it doesn't seem they want to even give us ICS officially.
However, as far as I am concerned this is all moot. Devs will get any HTC JB drop running mostly complete soon after it drops, just like ICS and Sense 4.0. That's my two cents.
That's why you S-Off and Root!!!

Pretty simple question for the developers. Is a full ASOP ICS ROM likely to happen (especially after ICS is officially leaked for the Rezound)? Just personally wondering since I always preferred a stock experience versus UI, although I do have to say I am impressed with how smooth Sense is, I just don't like the setup of it. Plus I like how the stock ICS looks on the Nexus myself.
The main reason I ask this question because I'm look around and I don't even see a full ASOP Gingerbread theme right now which I would love on my phone.
Also, big thanks to all the developers for what they're making. There's a good choice of ROMs on here versus my Droid X2 I upgraded from and can't do much with on a lock bootloader.

I saw this, but there's been not official word on development since February 12th it seems. I would fully expect ASOP ROMs especially when ICS hits the Rezound, but why hasn't anyone made an ASOP GB ROM yet since we have 2.3.4 for months now and unlocked bootloader for months?

Well its pointless to do a gb aosp, because it will quickly become outdated. And there's plenty of progress being made, read the whole thread.

I definitely disagree with this considering we don't know when ICS is officially coming except "later this year" apparently. There's still 9 months left in the year.
I would love to have, and would gladly donate, to someone that gets a solid AOSP build for the resound. I'm using the XTREME Sensless rom right now and it looks nice but it has 1 to many glitches still.

GB will be just as hard to get working. ICS AOSP is being worked on. If you don't like sense, then you should have bought a Nexus. The official ICS release has no effect really on getting AOSP working. It will happen. Plus, we have many fantastic ICS roms that will be very similar to the official release.

^This. I'd rather use a sense/desensed ICS rom instead of AOSP GB. Once you go ICS.. You can't go back.

LOL I already went ICS and went back to GB. I'm sure I'll be going ICS soon once some kinks are worked out with it and it's polished.

As I've said before, out of the all the UI's I like Sense the most, but I do personally prefer stock experience. In any case the Rezound was a superior phone for me and my needs compared to the Nexus, not to mention it was $100 cheaper for me to purchase than a Nexus.
I just like variety is all.

Come on....really..??? Ok, I'm not bringing the Sense argument to an AOSP thread. Suffice it to say that AOSP ICS will be a lot easier once official ICS is released for the Rezound. ICS AOSP builds require a hardware specific driver binary and HTC isn't planning on releasing that until they've officially released ICS. So there's the pitfall.

If it is a binary, it is already in the leaks. If it is proprietary they won't release the source. The only source they release is the kernel which since we already have it booting it won't really help with that to my knowledge.

The newest leak is very good and besides from data arrows not working it's pretty solid. Much better than GB imo, but to each their own.

Seems the kernel from the latest leak is really the biggest difference. I am still running off the 4.0.1 leak as my base ROM, but the kernel from the latest leak fixed almost every problem I was having, except the data arrows. I also discovered that the data arrows actually do work, but only when you're in roaming mode... I recently went to Telluride where I was having to use data-roaming for awhile, and during those times the arrows seemed to work just fine.

Hmm I was using the 1.7 kernel and it this leak was still buttery smooth. Could be both really. Were you on 1x data? Cause arrows will work on 1x but not 3g and 4g.

Oh, and my apologies in advance for being the bearer of bad news.
Hi
Did anyone know when htc going to release an official version to evo 3d gsm?
they won't be....all current devices from the one series onwards are sense 4.0 while all older models will b 3.6.
it's because of something called imagesense in the new line up that is critical to sense 4.0
But i like my evo & dont want to upgrade him... they r such a b....
If (i choose if instead of when on purpose) they release all the sources and stuff for the evo3d ics release (which should be arriving sometime in june iirc) at some point, then there should be fully working sense 4.0 ports possible - or thats what i think i read on here in one of the many ics threads.
The guy newt has a 4.0 rom over in the dev section. I'm excited about it, probably going to jump to that on next release. 3.6 just seems like a retread or a retrofit to me. I've always hated sense, hoping 4.0 can change my mind.
I use ics 4 with sense 4 (with a lot of bugs), i belive its will change ur mind...
apparently its also because they dont want people who have an existing version of sense 3.0/3.5 to have "too many changes" from their current Sense experience
Sense 4 has many graphical differences that might freak people out perhaps...
Shame - they could have released it as an option perhaps like an RUU for devs only
or since there are a lot of changes for GB -> ICS anyway they should have just taken the plunge and moved all to sense 4

I highly recommend switching to it sooner than later. I have always liked Sense, but Sense 4 is on another level, in my opinion. There are a few small issues on Newt's ROM, but it's still a very stable daily ROM to use. I'm sure once the Sprint ICS update comes out, those issues will disappear and there will be no reason to use anything else(unless you're a AOSP kind of person, I guess).
Hi All,
just wondering - when (if) we will get ICS with sense 3.6, is it really hard to develope stock ROM (ICS one) to have sense 4.0? Is it requires a lot of development and effort to make it (errors, bugs)?
Thanks.
well when i used to be using the Desire HD, they began bringing in bits and mods for sense 3.0 into the 2.1 ROMS, so given time there will be a full port of sense 4.0 or mods integrated into 3.6 to make it look like sense 4.0
sense 3.6 RUU (the virgin media one) is out already so HTC will release other RUUs aswell based on country carrier etc etc. just a matter of time always is
afaik the... lets call them "drivers" of the 3d screen are dependant on the specific version of sense framework so if HTC dont release sources or a specific build it will be difficult to port to sense 4.
for the camera it should be easier.
Newt's Rom with sense 4.0 is great. The only reason I had to switch back to 3.6 is the Bluetooth issues 4.0 has right now. BT is critical for me.
When the BT issues are cleared up, I will be all over that ROM.

Feel the exact same way. Sense 4.0 looks very pleasing over 3.6
Ran newts Rom for a week and couldn't hang without the Bluetooth. I drive company truck and with cell phone laws here in school zones its a 200$ fine if u go through a school zone and get caught with the phone up to your ear.
As soon as it is cleared up I'm going back. Hoping the release of the evo lte will help tie all the loose ends on that Rom.

I heard that 4.0.4 is out for the EVO 4g LTE. I am not sure if it is, or not. I want to know if I can update version of android if I'm rooted, or does it have to come with a ROM?
Updating through normal channels isn't the best way to run newer software if you want to stay rooted.
Just wait for one of the devs to include features in their Rom or root the latest release.

Where did you hear 4.0.4 is out for the lte? I've seen unofficial builds, hopefully 4.1 is on the way soon though.
"We're coming from a pure power source"
4.1 will be a while but. Will appear soon
Hit the thanks button if i helped
We will see 4.1 maybe this time next year. Maybe even later because the next generation Evo will be released around that time and everyone knows how sprint likes to play marketing games with the updates. We will probably see 4.0.4 soon to fix some of the bugs.

I'm pretty much asking the same thing, im rooted also so i can use wifi tethering. Dont have a custom rom or recovery, so its pretty much vanilla. So im assuming i need to unroot/root if i need to update the phone?
JWe are going to be 4.1 before this time next year... This is still a brand new top of the line flagship phone... they are going to want to keep sales up.
Sammy is known for taking forever for an is upgrade. If HTC pushes it out fast they'll see a huge bump in sales.

So, the notification of the new update us in my Notification Bar, but I'm waiting for someone to push out a JB Sense rom. I'm wise enough to wait for it.
HOWEVER, although I know that this is a different device, but when I updated my Asus TF300 tablet, the entire bootloader changed, thereby restricting me to JB roms ALONE. Currently, I do not think that there is a way to return to ICS (not that I want to, and that's besides the point...).
I was simply wondering if that would happen for this device if I update to JB Sense...

That indeed is a good question. Are you S-off? I know that after going from the 1.15 to 1.19 bootloader, I was still able to run older versions of 4.0.4 and 4.0.3. However, JB is a major update so I would defer to someone with more knowledge.
If you wait and flash a rom from a dev your hboot will not change. You would only potentially have this issue if you took the official update.

No, I am S-On, and I intend to stay that way for now. Yes, I know that the doors of opportunity are blasted wide open when I go S-off, but I rather not mess with the phone too much.

Ive been looking.....I cant find anything about the Dinc 4g
I love this phone, my grandma got my dinc 4g when I upgraded to the DNA (then returned it)
but as for the update....im sure its on its way, but not word at all about it, search google in about may and youll see more about it
My honest opinion on this matter is give up. I had the Rezound and waited for months and months just to receive ICS, which was a load of crap. I told a buddy about HTC phones being great and he bought the Incredible 4g (his 1st ever smart phone) and now I feel bad that I directed him towards HTC. I check online once a week hoping to give him some sort of hope on Jelly Bean and I haven't seen anything since December.
Last September I picked up a GS3. Love it, love Jelly Bean. Just recently updated to Jelly Bean 4.1.2. So my thought is SCREW HTC, love their phones, but HATE their slow response to updates. With the DNA out for a while now, I bet Incredible 4G doesn't see JB til September if even at all. So good luck.
*Edit: Forgot to mention, don't believe that crap that they are just working out all the bugs. Because after my ICS update for the Rezound, it was still buggy as hell. And the Data kept dropping, even after going through 2 more phones. It's a shame, HTC makes some really nice phones, they just suck at supporting them.

in my opinion, it's Verizon not htc that slows the updates.

Good point. I would pin Verizon too, they do play favorites like how Motorola seems to get updates first. And how the GS3 update hit Sprint and T-Mobile first. But we choose Verizon because the network and unfortunately learn to live with all the B.S. from them.

yep yep
I like HTC and Verizon I knew about jellybean when I got this phone I knew this phone came with ICS so therefore expected to own a phone running ICS firmware until I purchased a new phone. If we receive jb then its a bonus and yay but I don't expect it even though I believe it should be mandated by Google that all OEM's and carriers work together to keep every phone as up to date as the hardware will allow.

Have considered, but to be honest with you, I've only modded 1 phone, my original Rezound. Think it was the 2nd or 3rd ICS leak and just wasn't too happy with it. Then of course had that phone replaced a few times and never went back to rooting any phones.
And with his tech level I'd never tell him to go that route anyways. I'll just wait til his 2 years is up and push him towards Samsung. At least they make attempts at keeping their phones current. Like I said I did love HTC phones, but having a phone that is quite capable of an operating system (Yes the Rezound should have no issues running JB, nor should the Incredible 4g), and not doing the upgrade just lends to the theory that why should HTC update their phones, there's more money in selling you a new phone!!
