I have around 4 stuck pixels. They show up on grey screens as little light dots. Gets kind of annoying watching movies when and such. Tried the jscreen fix from the market but no luck.
Is this pretty normal? What's Sprint/htc policy? Just wondering if every phone has a few. Thanks in advance?

Take it back, tell them you want an exchange due to screen defect. If it's one lone pixel I can see it being dismissible but a cluster is not good.
In the general market they usually have a dual standard.
up to X amount of pixels bad is considered within tolerance however if the pixels are adjacent then the threshold is lower so it would fail quality control.
If they give you grief just ask for a refund and rebuy it
Take it back. Its defective. They will replace it

i turned on camera in dark room and i see like 3 pixels blue/green
has anyone tried that?
i tried my friends , turning on camera in completely dark room and didnt see any pixel issues
I have found from all these devices it is pretty common to see a stuck pixel here and there. I think you have to decide how bad it is or isn't. Sure you can exchange it but then you have to keep worrying if the next one will be worse and it will then become a never ending cycle!
this is true

Curious what you re going to do? I have 1 tiny one on the side of the phone that is only noticeable in a dark room on a black background. On the fence on what to do....I went through this with my TP2 and went through 4 phones and ended up keeping the best one of all of them but still had a stuck one. Just wasn't as bad as the other 3.

That program didn't fix my issue and with the other program I noticed a total of 4 all generally in the center of the screen. I am going to have Sprint exchange and see what happens on the next one. Since yours is in the corner I would let it slide.

I had to do this yesterday and they gave me so much trouble about having a dead pixel. Yeah, it is pretty particular to complain about but didn't we buy a brand new phone?!
I bought mine online, so I am not even going to deal with the store.

Good idea. I stopped by the store today and they just about laughed me and my 5 stuck pixels out of the building.....tossers.
They ran a "test" and said everything was fine and a few stuck pixels were fairly normal. I called sprint and they offered a new phone that should be here Monday. Kudos to sprint!
Hopefully the new one doesn't have the same problem.

First of all excuse me if this thread annoys you, or irritates you. I have problems with galaxy s2. Yes it's a plural. Purchased it on contract with 3 UK on the 29 November, 2Weeks after I noticed the black blotches, got into forums search and realised I have the yellow tint too. But freaky what bothered me was the black spot like a fingerprint size, and linear patterns, the blotch was too big, so I went for exchange, unlucky the customer service girl and boy couldn't help me, pretty lame telling me that only the employee which did the contract would help, anyway I wasn't sure about the 28 days return policy, because is not stated anteater and I left. But calling the customer support on phone I found out that I could change, so did that yesterday, didn't felt to odd exfoliating them to go in the dark room etc, because the player was ok and trusted me, oh and of course said that I am the first....right...took the phone tried it asap it had less blotches more like lines, definitely better. Tested the yellow tint was there, more, after reboot it got less not a deal breaker anyway. But here we are, 2 more problems, blue tint on tilting the phone which I didn't had with the firate one, I can actually see too much coating there in some low light conditions, creating a rainbow kinda thing, since I know that my other one wasn't like this is a deal breaker. And added to that pink spot that I didn't have. White galaxy made by Samsung and battery in China. Didn't update firmware yet to 2.3.5. The problem is the seller told me that I ran out if my 28 days and if I encounter other problems they should send it with warranty. How does those 28 days count? Because I started from 29 so today should be the 28 day inclusive. I want to exchange it again, I can't think that I can get worse than this. What do you think?
....ok so it looks like I bite the bullet, no exchange for me, don't know if I could find a perfect one anyway. So I have two options, selling it and then buying another one from the new users market, but what about the warranty? And sending it to warranty....which will take long..and I don't know if it will change something. Did somebody out here send his phone to service for, blue tint, pink camera spot? Never mind the blotches and yellow tint, they will be always there

warranty mate, they could help you :/
Depends upon what country purchased in .
twelve months warranty by the retailer with the warranty from Samsung covering the first two years .
Most retailers only allow 28 days for return that is their policy not the law .
You are essentially claimed that there are a number of faults that makes your phone not fit for purpose .
You can try arguing the point with them or have the phone sent for repair or they may exchange for a reconditioned unit .
An update to 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 may fix some of your problems .
jje
I bought mine from O2 Germany and had the same problems like you. Brighter and darker spots and a yellowish left side.
I had it exchanged and got the same phone with another display. It got better but was still not perfect. I had it exchanged yet another time and got a perfect one after 3 weeks of waiting.
May I ask you where your phone comes from? You can see it under your battery. It's printed on your phone there.

Thanks for answers, yes I have 24 months warranty from Samsung but in UK 3 has it's own service centre. I am very pessimistic because I have to leave the phone in store, after that it will be collected by the service techs , and I won't be sure that they see the problem, diagnosis. The phone is from UK , network 3 mobile. I think they have a pretty ugly batch, my first and this one have made by Samsung under the battery so....? I hate that Samsung hides the country of manufacturing. the employee who changed my phone told me I was the first one, I said to him that I am pretty sure I am not the only one, said to him something about India, where more phones had this problem, and he was Indian too, he said that Indian people are picky, they search the problems. I am not picky, first saw that blotches while using data tragic app, and after a movie, after 2 Weeks. Yellow tint? Saw it after googling, blue tint, on my second because my first didn't have it, camera? on first didn't notice, but looking back I don't think I took pictures of a plain paper or white wall, still I think it didn't have this. Updated via phone to 2.3.5. The yellow tint became darker red and moved from left to right, now I have only a quarter of the right part ok, it is ok. It is like a yoyo when you find another problem the previous one seems acceptable. But pinkish on camera? I've seen that on a 2003 Nokia 7900 with led display. I think in Samsung world super smiled plus means unique amoled plus. Will try to make a decision about it. Sure I want it, I can't think of any other phone that is better than this, I like alienation xl and nexus but I never tried them.

That one I wouldn't know, but is possible, either China or Vietnam. I am cross, that pink stain appears even outside wile focusing on the gravel . This is unacceptable. Why can't they do a proper phone? Samsung thinks only about money
i just got my S3 and i m so worried and so sad people!
i got the pebble blue s3. i have issues with my screen. i ran the screen test and found the same dark spots on my screen when screen is black. there are lots of them. i dont have nice camera to take pic of those dots. they are really annoying because i surf the internet a lot and these dots are very visible specially in the dark!
the other issue is something with the viewing angle. when i hold the device right next to my eyes (as we all do most of the times) the screen seems to be more yellowish and the colors seem to be alot washed away! but when i change the viewing angle like just a little, i mean when i tilt the device just a little the colors get normal the way they should be!
the next thing is the pink tint. in the browser the white pages are EXTREMELY PINK! yes EXTREMELY PINK! that happens at the automatic brightness!
when viewing the black color on the sceen, when the capacitive touch buttons are on the light of the menu button seems to leave its light on the screen. and the blacks are NOT AT ALL BLACK!!!
people i am so tensed and worried! can someone help me out of these problems? i have read that the white S3 does not have any of this problem is it true? i have also read that the dark spots are because of the glu used and those would go away with time, but i dont believe in that! should i send the device to claim warranty and get it repaired? pls pls pls some one help me! i have spent all my money i had saved for the past 4 months for this set and i even sold my Galaxy Note for this! i am so much tensed! pls help me guys!

You got a defective unit it happens. So send it back or get it repaired / exchanged. You spent a lot of money you should get a product that works as intended without defects. The sooner the better you'll be much happier. Best advice I can give you. All without the need to jumping off a bridge or if you do hope that you that you land on kyan to break your fall.

The block splotches are absolutely not indicative of a bad display.
They are present on virtually every OLED screen, ranging from the Nexus One's, to the PlayStation Vita's, to the Samsung Galaxy S3's.
I can't speak for your other issues, but people need to understand the splotches are common on pretty much any OLED. Some can see them easily, some seem to be unable to, but it does not mean the panel is defective.
Why are you on here? I see you just joined the site recently. How about you learn to be polite and if you can't, then leave.

I use an app called dead pixel test, and it allows you to cycle through several different solid coloured screns, like all white, all black, red blue etc. No probelms with my screen, but I have a screen protector on it now.
Does yours have a screen protector that could be affecting it? Otherwise just return it as faulty.
I also have the pebble blue and screen is amazing. No issues here. Did notice the marks on a completely black screen in a dark room once but it hasn't showed since. Didn't really bother me.

Hello everyone,
and thanks in advance for your help.
I would like to ask if you have ever seen a problem like that in the attachment.
I bought the Samsung Galaxy S3 just few days ago and within the first hours of utilization I found this white line on the display.
It is persistent with software and hard reset of the device.
The only way that I've found till now is to remove the battery for some time ( half an hour ), but after few hours the problem's still present.
It seems related to the "cool down" of the device.
I'm already thinking to give it back in assistance but I'd like to have some feedback if others had already the same problem.
Thanks!
this is abnormal, you should replace it asap.
The screen is fault. Go and replace it (the phone) .

Give it back.
DO NOT use words like warranty!!!!
State that the sold to you unit is not filling up the conditions of sale agreement.
Rationale:
If you'll go back to shop and claim the warranty, you'll stuck for several weeks and on return you'll have repaired/refurbished unit.
If you'll return it on the base of discrepancy with the selling agreement claim (faulty unit sold) - shop duty is to replace it or give you your money back (at least in EU).
I think my phone since yesterday has the same problem of the OP. I tried several apps from Play Store (claiming they could fix display issues) but without results.
My phone is old less than a month and it's all stock (XXELLA) except root...I'll post a pic if I try to capture it on my old phone camera.
Anyone else recently encountered this? Thanks in advance.

I think I'll go to make it check from a tech at a service centre (pic of the display: dl.dropbox. com/u/6492926/SNC00344.jpg)
But I was wondering...If the screen is AMOLED and a pixel (or more) die, should it be black (turned-off)? Here you can notice that the broken pixel line is white, also lighter than a white screen. As a note, the line is NOT visible when the background is full black but visible in the other cases, resulting more when the background color is very light.
I'm a bit disappointed :S
I don't think that a line can be caused by a pixel or more. There is more a cable or something inside the screen (or motherboard?). It's impossible to have a full line fault because of pixels.
If your phone is less than a month old go to the store you bought it or call Samsung. They should replace it. Don't let tech opening a new phone. They are not fixing the phone as better as Samsung itself. Mine had a chop inside the screen and they replaced it after two weeks I bought it (I've seen the chop in park, watching the screen under sunlight). The store replaced the device with no questions.

Bought an HTC One today. The camera appears to be defective. It has trouble focusing and is always blurry on the top right-hand side quadrant of the photo.
Since I'm pre-paid and bought from an individual, should I go to T-Mobile for a warranty replacement or direct to HTC? Obviously it's under warranty since it hasn't been out for over a year.
I know AT&T were jerks about warranty claims if you didn't purchase direct from them but don't know about T-Mobile.
Thanks.

as long as there is no damage you should have 14 days for an exchange
I believe you will have to go to HTC. T-Mobile will only honor it within the 14 day window for the original owner
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD
The phone is definitely outside the 14 day window and I'm not the original owner. Guess I'll go to HTC and play that game.
The physical hardware is clearly under warranty, so hopefully they don't give me the runaround.
Before returning try changing the video resolution from super hd to hd and see if that fixes it. Then you should be able to switch it back and it should work fine. It doesn't just fix the video camera but the still camera as well.

Now you tell me. I boxed it up and shipped back today.
Here is what the average photo looked like. Just terrible. Tried a hard reset, reset the camera settings, etc. Nothing worked. I think it's just plain defective.
Night photos are grain city too. Nothing good about it at all. FYI, I had and sold an HTC One (regretted it, bought another) and the photos were fantastic. This one is just a dud (hence why the seller only asked $450 cash - now I see why).
HTC support asked me if I wiped the lens with a lint free cloth. WTF do you think, lol?
Tap to focus just didn't work. In fact, nothing worked. Every photo is terrible. I really hope HTC support doesn't give me the run around.
(my backyard - yes we have two dogs and yes their pee kills the grass, but they are worth it)
Yeah that's about what mine looked like before. I had just written HTC to find out what I needed to do the replace it. This was literally just last night. I was up late about to flash the 1.29 Rom to see if that fixed it. I looked through the settings to see if there was a way to change the auto focus settings which there only is for video. I changed the resolution setting just to see if it might help and it completely fixed it. Not sure why but it seems like it was "stuck". It may or may not have been the same as your issue but sounds like it was. Whatever though, you get a new one so it all works out.

Anyone know how fast HTC repairs/replaces and ships back? They will receive the phone today and I'm hopeful to receive it back by this weekend. Realistic?
Well, just got the phone back. Slow ground shipping!
Aaaand HTC did absolutely nothing to the phone. The pictures are all still blurry. Infuriated right now. Two weeks and they did absolutely nothing, just shipped it right back to me with no notes, no repair, nothing.
Called up HTC. Of course they have "no notes" as to what was done to the phone. Here's a tip: nothing was done.
The "escalations team" was closed so they told me to call back tomorrow.
Just so I'm not crazy, is this considered a normal "ultrapixel" photo from this phone? I just took it. Basically, the tap to focus does absolutely nothing. I'm about to unload this junk to someone else and make it their problem. I can't go a full month without a working phone as my only option is to send it in again and have the HTC techs go "yep, looks good from here" and send it right back to me again. Just replace your defective hardware guys. Not hard.
It would'nt hurt to try
The worst they would say is no. Ive heard story's of people getting replacements from t mobile in your situation, if it was a manufacturers defect. I would just go into a store and be totally polite friendly with the rep and show that your completely bummed out about your new phone not working the way it should. From my experience, kindness can go a long ways with t mobile.

But its just a idea I know your mad as hell .. And I agree the photo is horrific .
