do you get force closes or is it just freezing and u get the message tw does not work anymore and u may check wait or close
get to system settings aplications go to all installed and search for your tw launcher open the dialoge box and select erase all data (not uninstall!!)
thats like a factory reset for the app
it should work again if not tell me and we´ll see

SOME LAUNCHERS support LANDSCAPE mode HOME screen and some dont.
it is not in the ROM or something.

[Q] widgets dont update?

I'm running omega rom based on xxlph. I have the accuweather widget. But it doesn't update automatically.. I have set the auto update on and everything.I tried using another weather widget and that also doesn't update.
But if I open the widget and press the refresh button and go back to the home screen it'll update. Any idea?
Have you a link for your ROM ? because I think it's a problem with your launcher.
I'm using go launcher. When I was on a 2.3.6 rom with go launcher it was working just fine.
You have answered yourself .

Disable HW Overlways

Why is it when i select this anytime after i reboot i have to select it again, certain apps like the Eurosport player, etc will not work properly unless this is selected (why is this BTW?) but why do i have to keep ticking it anytime i reboot, is there no way i can just keep this selected?
plus one, would like to know.....i have the same problem.
Doesn't anyone know about this, surely there has to be a way instead of having to select it every time it's bloody annoying
if u change debug.mdpcomp.maxlayer in rom toolbox to 2 instead of 3 problems should be gone. Reboot after changing to 2. I am on the note but this is what we have done for temp fix until devs implement the fix.
Edit. Under build.prop editor

Cheers mate but definitely not there from what i can see.
Anyone else have any ideas?
Are you running one of the jellybean leaks?
Yeah Liquid Smooth ROM although even when i had Android Revolution ROM (before the JB leak) it was the same.
When the rom is working as its meant to you shouldn't need to touch that setting to get things working, I know you do at the moment for the jellybean roms, but it would be very strange for you to need it in any ICS stock rom.

[Q] Can I update when rooted?

I found very different answers on the internet about this topic.
Some say yes you can update when rooted some say no and some say you can if you didn't remove any apps.
I would like to root my samsung galaxy S III I9300 and remove the samsung apps.
I do not want a custom rom and I would like to update my phone at any time when there is a new update.
Also would like to know if I could remove the "TouchWhiz home" and use the standard jelly bean skin.
So far as I know it's in the list named "System UI" with the jelly bean logo.
Thanks for all the replies,
Instead of rooting my phone I sold my Samsung Galaxy S3.
The comments were very useful and made me think, I decided to buy a google phone since the Samsung Galaxy S3 has still a quite high value in The Netherlands.
This would give me the pure android experience without rooting the phone or installing new roms.

You could try freezing the samsung apps in application manager so you don't need to root
And don't uninstall system ui, touchwiz is called touchwiz in the apps list

I did freeze those apps but I still would like to remove them.
I don't like it when there are apps on my phone which I didn't install myself that bothers me very much. :silly:
I didn't want to remove the "system UI" but the question was if I could remove the "TouchWhize home" and use the "System UI" instead.
The "System UI" has the jellybean logo so in my eyes this would be the official android skin?
Thanks for your reply! :good:
Best option for removing the Samsung apps is to root your phone. Touchwiz is also the default home of your S3. I am on Apex so I don't use it. But i am not sure if you can run System UI. Never seen it.
If you want a JellyBean theme then download Apex Launcher or Go Launcher and download the JellyBean themes from the Play Store. They're all free from memory. I use to use them.

you are very misinformed the system ui isnt the stock jelly bean launcher that is the things such as the status bar etc so whatever you do you dont want to remove that as it will give you a tonne of force closes also as the other guy said there are many launchers that can give the stock experience i aswell used to use apex launcher, it has a tonne of customization and is very smooth. you can after youve installed apex launcher uninstall touchwiz if you are rooted although i dont recommend it. if it bothers you id just recommend freezing/disabling it
Wasn't sure.

I wasn't sure about that "System UI" so if I root the phone I will let the "TouchWhize home" on the phone and install a launcher.
Also I would like to know if I am still able to update my Samsung Galaxy S3 after rooting.
Edit: 4/21/2013 - 3:24 AM
What if I still change my mind to install a different rom which rom would give me the most updated version of jelly bean?
Thanks for your reply :highfive:
I recommend Apex Launcher for a rooted phone and Go Launcher for unrooted. Go Launcher is probably the best but if your rooted its not really as good anymore.
With the Samsung updates I'm not sure if you can because I have not done it but from my knowledge. If you run a custom ROM, it will notify you for an update which will probably give you the features of the latest update.
I am running Resurrection Remix JB 3.1.4 running android 4.2.1

you cant update your rom if you put a rom on it the only way to do it is when a new fw comes out wait for the devs to update their rom then download the rom and reflash it. if you want a complete vanilla android rom then 4.2.2 is the latest fw and you will find most of them roms in the original development thread if you want a samsung based rom and just download a different launcher then i would recommend 4.1.2 as the 4.2 versions are leaked and can be unstable, for stock android the latest none leaked fw is emc3
Thanks for all the replys!

I can imagine that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is not that much worth in the UK
The Netherlands didn't get the Nexus 4 so there are just a few stores which sell the Nexus 4.
So before that everyone would have the S4 I sold my S3 and bought the Nexus 4.
I thought that would be a smart idea and so far it is :silly:

[Q] groupcast on cm AOSP

Hi there
A few days ago I took the groupcast.apk from a touchwiz rom and then moved to to system/app on a cm10.1 rom
It appeared in the app drawer I opened it it gave me a force close message but the app didnt close and you could access other things
So can anyone tell me how to remove this force close error?
Reflash rom. Dont try to add things from tw to cm. It wont work mate.
I9100/I9300
I just wanted to say that groupcast works on cm it just gives you the "groupcast has stopped message" and then it works after you pressed ok so wanted to ask what should I modify to make it fully work or if they could do it for me.
