unable to install apps from playstore - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

My EVO 4g LTE started acting funny last night.... Pull out notification menu is blank and I am now unable to install any apps from the playstore.
Is there any thing I can do to fix this? I don't want to factory reset my phone...
not rooted.... Stock

Just back up your pics and what not. If you have contacts sync with google you won't loose them. Factory reset is most likely easiest fix.

In my experience factory reset isn't as horrible as one may think provided you do a back up

[Q] Contacts application force close problem

Been rocking my Atrix since May, everything AOK.
Then I read up on how to root my phone, and got rid of some of the bloat ware.
Just noticed when ever I try to use the dialer I can't use contracts.
When ever I open contacts and press one, it force closes the app.
But if I open google voice, then contacts I can select one and dial out.
Incoming calls work as well, but I cant figure what I may have changed that shuts down the normal dialer.
If I add a market place dialer, every thing works fine too.
How do I get the stock dialer / contacts back?
Also, if my phone is rooted, w original locked boot loader, will resetting to factory screw anything up?
Try unfreezing or re-installing Yahoo contacts authenticator. That's what did it for me, and I've seen others report the same.
Don't do a factory reset yet.
When you "got rid of the bloatware" did you freeze that stuff or delete it?...

Actually I deleted all the yahoo, etc stuff.
Do I have to go back to "Stock" to recover?
And how do I do that.
Android Recovery results in 'Failed to Boot 2"
Factory Reset does the same.
So I'm stuck in limbo it seems?

Can't instal apps, can't wipe/reset phone

So I got my phone working with rsd light, problem its it reinstalled all my apps, I an unable to update anything. I'm no longer rooted obviously. I can't factory reset the phone from the privacy menu. And even in the android recovery it stays at the triangle. Apps in the market say insufficient memory when I have tons of all memory left. Resetting the phone unger the privacy manu doesn't go anywhere when I hit the button. Also keep getting geolocation problem on my beautiful widgets update.
At the triangle(recovery) press down volume up and down at the same time

EDIT 2: I not will add to this post because you have already used SBF, and know how to.
If still face problem after hard reset, charge battery and try flashing sbf again. Actually it shouldn't be happen like that. Try to erase data from moto-fastboot....

Keep using the old version until the new version takes effect, after a factory reset, it takes a while.
I say this from experience, use the old green version for a while, just browse around, and restart the phone. Use the green one, and close it out, soon you will have the new version of the Android Market, if not just find it online.

Troublesome handset.

Hi there.
Neebie coming in...
I just got my hands on the SGS2 2 weeks before x-mas. But the last week it has started to jinx... It randomly reboots, the app "Talk" seems to start randomly every 10 minutes or so. Accuweather is extremely eager to show the forecast. I have tried a reset to factory settings, installed Lookout, but it just wont stop.
I can not delete the apps, as i have not rooted the handset. My employer wont allow rooting because of warranty issues.
Have any experienced similiar odd behaviour, and if so, is there something to do, without rooting, and then deleting these apps permanteley, or should i return the handset?

Not heard anything like that before! Will your boss allow you to update the firmware? You can download a stock firmware and update it.
Make sure your signed out of Talk, accuweather, go into settings and set sync to manual if you can.
Enter recovery, volume up + home button + power button and do a reset from there.
Well, my first guess is to do a factory reset.
If you have Google contacts, all your contacts will be backed up so no harm trying.
btw Lookout won't solve anything like this.
If you return the handset the first thing they will do is a factory reset .
Accuweather reads like settings .
Lookout wont help .
I would check for an update on KIES if you have already factory reset .
Failing that its a service centre as you dont want to go down the no warranty fix routes .
jje
I just mentioned lookout incase someone would point out malware etc.
Ill check the firmware thingy.
Cheers

Software Update

I received a message about a software update this morning. Foolishly, I downloaded the update without thinking. It's not that I was going to root or anything, I'm content at the moment.
When I tried using the dedicated camera button, it wouldn't work. Then an error report notification came up and I sent the error report. The camera button works sometimes. When I was taking pictures, I tried the rapid-fire picture taking and it didn't work and also gave me an error report, which I sent. The rapid-fire now works sometimes too. I'm not sure what's happening.
It seems like they changed Task Manager too. Now it shows Available and Total. Did it used to show Used and Available? I can't remember. The items listed are now in bold. If I end all the tasks, I usually get to around 400 MB available out of 1024 MB it says. What could be using up all this memory?
Have you guys run into anything with the update? I just wanted to have a discussion about it.
You may need to factory reset. If there were any glitches in the download, it will screw up your phone, like your camera, but a factory reset should fix it. I did the update last week then factory reset. My camera is functioning properly. I cannot speak on the task mgr as I don't really use it.

Thanks for the info. I can't remember, will factory reset delete my texts, pictures, apps, etc.?

It will not delete pics in your gallery if they are saved on your SD card. I recommended My Backup Pro to save your apps. 3rd party messaging apps often have back up and restore functions or you can use SMS Backup to back texts up to your email.

OK got me on that one...it does not erase SD card
Ok, I'll backup everything first.

If you've enabled google wallet, be sure to reset that from within the app, too
Good point, we still don't know if that issue has been completely resolved yet

Ok thanks. I'll be sure to back up my apps, and I've already backed up my texts before.

I don't use Google Wallet, but I cleared all data from Settings.
I think I'm going to back up everything to a microSD card and whatever apps and then reset. I'll see if it fixes things for me. Is there anything else I should be aware of? Maybe I'll root after resetting. I'll look into that.
Regawmod has finally been updated and makes it all easier. I would still recommend unlocking the manual way because it requires extra steps that makes things a little easier to understand. Some people are getting stuck in loops and the only way to fix is to fastboot but since regawmod handles everything they don't have the adb tools package or how to use it
Did the factory reset fix your camera button issue?
I ordered a micro SD card and I'll backup my stuff when I get it. Everything is fine atm.

Hi,
I had not rooted or unlocked my phone. I decided to do it but that was after I took the update . Well I found out I cannot get s-off now. I was able to unlock and root with Regawmod. I had to manually put it into recovery a few times but it works great.
Okay, so I have restored all my apps, data, and text messages after the factory reset. It seems that Sense doesn't like remembering my Home settings. MyBackup Pro didn't backup Android Home perfectly so I redid my Home screen. I have apps arranged into groups and I removed all the other panels so that I only have one panel. When I restarted my phone, the other panels were still there and the groups of apps weren't there. I created my own Scene and restarted and it' been fine. I haven't gotten any error reports or anything.

Bought a rooted phone

Long story short had to buy another note 2 after mine took a swim. Bought another note 2 off Craigslist. Totally forgot to check to see if it was rooted. Tried signing in my google account and it wont sync anything or load up the google play store. All the google apps force close constantly and I'm unable to sync my contacts. The google play store keeps telling me there is no connection. Help!
Root will not cause it to function like this. The first thing I would try is to do a factory reset. This will make sure everything is erased. If that doesn't work, look at the stickies and use ODIN to restore the phone back to 100% stock. As long as the phone has a clean ESN, this should make everything 100% perfect.
Good luck
Its a custom recovery on here. Clockwork I believe.

OK? You can still factory reset with a unlocked rooted phone.
