Well, my data is out again. Anyone else? Stuck on E
**EDIT** Called TMo and it just came back. I rebooted it and did a battery pull, still nothing. Then all of a sudden it came back on its own. Oh well......

I have been running custom roms on my droid since the root explot was first discovered, and I have a rooted xoom as well. Last night I rooted my thunderbolt and installed the debloated rom. I don't think it is even related to my problem, as it still worked fine after doing this, but I thought it was worth mentioning. I removed the sim card today, just to prove to my brother that it did indeed have a sim, and after reinsertation, my thunderbolt has not been able to connect to a data network. I do not live in a 4g area, and I have tried reseating the sim several times. I can make phone calls, wifi works fine, but I cannot get the 3g icon, and the browser won't load if not on wifi.. I'm starting to get scared. I can't think of anything else to try. Any suggestions?
EDIT 1: I have intermittent 1x data, but I never get 3g. And when I say intermittent, I mean I get it like right after a call for maybe a minute, then it goes away.

I had this same issue as well when I removed and reinserted my SIM card. When I booted back up I was stuck on 1xRTT. After making a call, they phone locked back on to LTE and everything was good after that. If it still isn't working I would recommend giving Verizon a call. They may be able to reactivate it. I did notice that the problem persisted even though I flashed a couple different roms on the device. I'm thinking it probably isn't a great idea to remove and insert the SIM if you don't have to.
Just an update,
I spent 2.5 hours at the effing verizon store today after spending an hour on the phone. Even after all that time, and giving me a new SIM, they STILL couldn't get my TB to connect to 3g. They said that it might magically start working at midnight for no particular reason, but had no clue what to do (I was actually at a corporate store btw) If it doesnt start working tonight, I am going back tomorrow. I have no idea what the hell is up. I am very tech savvy, and this is just insane. It must be a verizon problem in my area that it wont let the phone reactivate for the 3g/4g
my phone just developed this problem this morning. the phone is rooted running twisted sense 1.5 i had the newest radio update installed but was having problems with it randomly restarting so i reverted back to the factory radio version. after going back to the factory radio the phone was working fine until this morning, it will connect to the 1xRTT network but not 3g or lte. i have tried restoring to an earlier backup and i've tried installing the new radio as well without any results. please tell me there is a way to fix this i just bought the phone over the weekend and really dont want to have to go back and buy a new phone this soon.
thanks.
there are a ton of posts about this.
verizon has an outage.
well **** i guess im an idiot. this is the first time today i got online so im abit out of the loop. thanks man
I had the same issue. After using the search button I found this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052727 it fixed the issue and I am back on 3G.
I just wanted to see if my experiece was unique. I unknowingly rebooted my rezound during the last 4g outage. It started boot looping I did a Google search and found some info on it being a problem with this phone and it needed to be swapped out. I went to Verizon who wouldn't swap the phone because it was purchased from Amazon. During the course of the conversation I learned that they were also having a 4G outage. I left the store thinking that was odd so I pulled the sim out of the phone and tried to boot it. The phone came up just fine. Once I read 4G was up I put the sim back in and it once again came up and connect with 4G just fine. I have rebooted it a few times since then and have not had any issues. Anybody have a simular experience? Could the outage cause a boot loop?

I have lost all 3G/4G data service on my Razr.
My data service has been lost for the last 24-hours. This is my second 24 hours outage in three days and counting. That's 2 of the last 3 days I have had NO data service from Verizon.
WI-Fi works great.
Verizon had me power off and remove Sim than reinstall. Still does not working! Verizon states the next step is for me to do a factor data reset.
How I wish I had never did the OS update. My phone was perfect.
Anyone having data service problem?
Yes! I have been without data for a few days now as well. I get 3G every now and then but 90% of the time there's nothing. This started happening shortly after I installed the ota update. I'm going to do a fastboot flash of my phone to downgrade back to 744 and see if I can get data back. PITA and I'll have to root again, but if i get my data back it'll be worth it. I'll post again and let ya know the results.
EDIT: Just finished flashing back to 744 and looks like I have 3G right off the bat. No sign of 4G yet, but I don't always get it at my house. I'll try to post back and let ya know. If you wanna try using the fastboot to downgrade back to 744, here's the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416058
After reading everywhere about the OTA update, it would seem that they need to come out with another update to fix the last one. Until they do, I'll probably stick with 744. Again, I'll let ya know if I get any 4G. Good luck to ya.
EDIT: Still no 4G and 3G is STILL spotty... Just tried wiping the cache. Hoping/praying that it fixes my network connectivity issues. :-/
EDIT: Wiping the cache did nothing... I'm at a loss. I'm flashing again (no remove root), doing the update, and then doing a factory reset. If I don't immediately get 4G back, I'm bringing it in to VZW and getting them to fix/replace it. This is ridiculous.
So a few days back I decided to install cloudy and messed with the build.prop a little bit. I was having 3g and roaming issues so I decided to try jasmine v2. Same issues there as well. Then I went back to v1.1 and now I'm back on fully rooted stock. My problem is if I fully pull the battery, wait a few seconds, and then boot back up I am able to get 4g for about 10 seconds or so, after which time the phone always mysteriously jumps back to 3g and never leaves from there. Seriously weird. While I was having the issues with Cloudy I dialed *228 because I read something about updating the preferred roaming list (and looking back I realize I shouldn't have done this!), but I always get 4g for a few seconds after booting up still...it just always goes away. Anyone have any useful suggestions?
I'd stop by a verizon store or give them a call and get a new sim card.

I might be stuck doing this, as since Cloudy I've tried Jasmine 2.0, 1.1, the stock root deodex rom by Beans, all with normal wipes and advanced wipes prior to flashing. Lol I even used my Verizon to temporarily switch my phone line to an old crappy non-smartphone I have laying around and then back to the G3 thinking maybe possible that could somehow "restore" proper programming or something, all with no dice! Needless to say, it was a late night at that point.
Then I got to thinking, that maybe the full restore guide here on XDA (that I've used before) might do a more "full" restore than simply flashing a new rom. So I did that, and so far my issue appears to be fixed! More testing is still needed at this point, but if there's anyone who comes across similar issues, you might try that. I'll report back once I know for sure if this was the solution. Thanks!
You don't *228 a 4G phone, they update their PRLs, on their own, on boot. You may have fried your SIM card.

Yep...as the OP clearly says, looking back I realize I shouldn't have done that It didn't hurt my SIM card.....I'm not an expert by any means, but I feel like something must have somehow gotten seriously borked with the radio or something, I really don't know - all I know is using the "full restore to stock" instructions with the .tot and LG flash tool, everything is back up and running great again. Figured I'd share my experiences on the off chance anyone else has any similar issues!
So, have you re-done all the work to reinstall Cloudy ? If so, did the 4g to 3g drop problem return ? I am not sure from following thus threading the problem was with Cloudy.

I'm not sure exactly where the problem came in, whether from Cloudy or not, but I'm not refreshing it to find out lol, as I was still having definite drop to 3g and never return problems, along with it saying I was roaming during those times. I'm just gonna stick with the stability of the rooted stock US rom for now
