How do I go about this?
I see posts about going from 1.5 to 1.4
Or am I better off on 1.4?
I'm trying to solve my reboot issues on ICS Roms
1.5 isn't going to solve your issues. 1.5 has a harder time booting ics roms

well crap.
So if I have the ideal setup. what is causing it? I know I'm not the only one but I've yet to see any real solutions.

I'm a little hesitant re-flashing Gingerbread because of the little scare we had, but I hear that now just two people got bricked.
So how many of you are back on Gingerbread?
I am. It has always ran really good for me. I'm using gingivitus IX. The only problem I have with this Rom is that the battery takes forever to charge. No other complaints.

And also what is the correct way to use a different kernel than the one that is in the ROM? I have the ext4 wipe. Not used it. I just clear everything from recovery mode.
Basically what's the correct way to flash a new kernel?
Sorry for the double post.

I heard that it was just two phones out of thousands, but I don't know that's a risk you take every time you flash anything.

After I flashed GB to my phone my wife left me, dog ran away, and I got pregnant, twice.
Hasn't phased me though. Flashing LiquidGingerSense tonight, just because.

I was hearing from Jcase that it was more than just a few phones
I heard around 30 were bricked, but considering how many TB's there are out there, not a bad ratio. How many of those 30 were caused by user error?
Ive searched the forum for solutions on how to fix this issue but can't seem to find I good answer. I've also changed kernels but it still goes on & off. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it thanks.

you should try switching over to static ip
Try changing your router channel to 11 if its not already. Also try updating your routers firmware. And in settings/WiFi/advance WiFi settings make sure best performance is checked and sleep is set to never.

Thanks for all your replies, but I should have stated that I only have this problem when using virus rom. I was on miui the WiFi worked flawlessly no restarts. I'm just wondering what I should do to get it stable on virus because his Rom is dope.
Thanks again

Well in that case you could try switching kernels if you haven't already. Also you can adjust the WiFi setting in the settings menu if you haven't already as well. The info I posted is still relevant toward the router you own it may or may not help with the virus issue but it will give you better performance if you keep your routers firmware up to date that's if you haven't already.

Thanks but I've used both and I'm still getting the WiFi reset issue. I tried ziggys with the 329 release of 3.5 but still a no go.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
There is no fix and hasn't been for awhile. Any sense 3.5 rom I go on my wifi goes in and out. Awhile ago I tried posting a thread for advice and I'm guessing because it happens to so few people nobody really wanted to look into it. My advice don't use 3.5 if you need wifi. Try one of the 2.17 base roms. They're just as smooth. Also I'm sure once ics hits the issue won't be there with 3.6. Not too much longer!
Hey guys, trying out both silk rls2 and sos, which both are ics, I am getting random reboots. Is there any way of seeing why this is happening. I didn't have it while stock or on gb roms.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Switched to the latest eternity (non ics) and still getting reboots.
Any thoughts?

i had that problem with the infected roms..just installed the zrd3 rom and i havent had any random reboots at all. i feel your pain tho..i would be doing something(internet, game, phone call) and it would just reboot my phone on the infected rom.
Try this and see if it helps

Well you can try it or not its up to you. However it has helped many members. The choice however is yours. Good luck. If you want to know how the Sd card effects your phone you can google/research it and find more than enough info I believe.

What do you mean by locks up?
Freezes and crashes or fails?
Freezes, then ill have to do a battery pull.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
And, judging from your HBoot, it's a CDMA phone. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Have you tried an AOSP feel ROM?
Maybe it has something to do with you running too much on the phone which is causing it to crash.
I've never really seen this problem before.
It's CDMA. What's an AOSP feel Rom? A "de-sensed" rom? It may not matter if I am or not. Last freeze I had was with CM7 and I didn't even install anything. I don't have much issues with Sense roms but I don't want to stay stuck with Sense.

Yes, an AOSP feel ROM is when the ROM is really a Sense ROM, but it doesn't install Sense, instead, it installs a launcher, usually NOVA Launcher.
I'm not very familiar with the CDMA section, but there should be a few..
Also, did you experience any random Force Closes with your AOSP ROMs? Such as a Random system app? Also, did it usually freeze when you were using it, or when it was just lying around or in your pocket?
CM7 froze after I tried to turn the screen off. The other roms froze while using it I think.

Stock Kernel?
Could be an overheating issue?
I don't flash kernels a lot. Only 2-3 tines I've flashed one. At least most issues were probably with the included kernel. Tried CM9 today, ran well until it froze.

Did you flash the kernel and all the most recent firmware/radios for the ROM? That could be the issue.
Never flashed a radio or anything before. How do I go about doing that?

Each ROM has the radios included. If you're S-OFF, you just download it, rename it to what the Dev said (usually they come prenamed) and then put it in the root of your SD Card.
Once you're done that, just reboot your phone into the bootloader (Power and Volume Up) and it'll automatically scan for the files and install them.
It's not hard to do. Just make sure you flash the right ones for your phone and all should be well.
However, you shouldn't really need to flash the radio unless you experience problems with it..
Title pretty much says it but just wondering if anyone has not been able to run custom kernels. It started with my attempt with Komodo etc., but I always get some form of screen flashes or massive FCs. Im am rooted with original 1.12 hboot. I have been able to successully load and run ROMs from Viper to AOKP, even CM10.1 but never able to run a custom kernel. I have wiped clean, reset and still no go. I am using the 2.2.1 TWRP so wondering if the newest TWRP would fix that ability? I know some of the EVO LTEs just wont run with a custom kernel but figured I would try.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Are you S-Off or S-On. I would flash the latest recovery just to be safe.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I've had the same issue with Komodo. I'm S-OFF 1.19. I tried on the latest twrp, 2.3.3, and even on a tip re-flashed 2.3.1
I was able to boot after flashing with 2.3.1, sometimes...but it really wasn't stable enough to even try to use. Constant reboots, FC's, bootloops, etc
The device I'm having this issue on is an insurance replacement from asurion, the 4th one to be exact. i never had this issue on any of the previous devices...my first was new via preorder, that was stolen, and the first 2 refurbs were returned due to other hardware defects, although at least they could run a custom f***ing kernel.
as far as I've been able to tell nobody has found the issue that makes some devices not take to a custom kernel.

Thanks for the replies. I am S-OFF, current baseband etc. I haven't tried the voltage mod, but will look into that and come back for questions if necessary. If you have any tips on the voltage mods etc, feel free to pass them on. I have tried to use Goo Manager to download the newest TWRP but kept getting errors but haven't tried today. Will try to get the most recent on and look at voltage mods. Its not a huge deal, I get great battery life and its fast enough but I wanted to at least see if there was something specific that I have been missing to run the kernels. Thanks for all the replies!
The Komodo kernel worked only after updating TWRP to newest and I also had to use the voltage mod as neither would load without it. Great advice and for first time I am running custom kernel on top of PACMAN ROM. I tried capped at 1.7 then 2.1 both work but the 2.1 started to indicate some weird results within minutes of loading. I backed down to 1.9/384 and looks to be the sweet spot. Thanks again!
