Hey guys, trying out both silk rls2 and sos, which both are ics, I am getting random reboots. Is there any way of seeing why this is happening. I didn't have it while stock or on gb roms.

Switched to the latest eternity (non ics) and still getting reboots.
Any thoughts?

i had that problem with the infected roms..just installed the zrd3 rom and i havent had any random reboots at all. i feel your pain tho..i would be doing something(internet, game, phone call) and it would just reboot my phone on the infected rom.
Try this and see if it helps

Idk how the sd effects the rom or hardware

Well you can try it or not its up to you. However it has helped many members. The choice however is yours. Good luck. If you want to know how the Sd card effects your phone you can google/research it and find more than enough info I believe.

If you are hboot 1.5, I highly recommend switching to 1.4 s-off. That seems to fix bootloops and other random reboots.

I never had random reboots until this radio.
Try MR2. I haven't had any problems with it but from the experiences I've read from different people, it seems some will have better luck with 2.0 and some with 2.5. That seems to be how it has been from what I can tell.

Flash a different radio? Ha. Try mr2 like he said, then 1,then stock. Hopefully one will work with your bolt

I'm on NRG's ROM. All of a sudden yesterday, my phone just starting rebooting itself. I've been using his ROM for a while now and it never happened. I have the logcat. Can someone tell me what the hell is happening?
I already superwiped and flashed a clean ROM. I didn't add tweaks or install any apps and it still happens. Really pissing me off.
Could be hardware. Revert back to stock for 24hrs. If it revolts again then it could be hardware related....it could also be battery related.
X told me I had to fix permissions. I just did that so I will see if it happens. I hope not lol.
About 2/3 of the way down the logcat you have all kinds of system errors... Idk what they mean, but look legible to anyone who knows what they're looking at

There were a TON of unkown permissions toward the top of logcat

So far, I have no issues since I fixed the permissions. Thank God.
This exact thing happend to me. Oddly it persisted through 3 different Roms including stock but once I fixed permissions everything was great

How do I go about this?
I see posts about going from 1.5 to 1.4
Or am I better off on 1.4?
I'm trying to solve my reboot issues on ICS Roms
1.5 isn't going to solve your issues. 1.5 has a harder time booting ics roms

well crap.
So if I have the ideal setup. what is causing it? I know I'm not the only one but I've yet to see any real solutions.

i gave up and tried another rom and it is working so far.
Title pretty much says it but just wondering if anyone has not been able to run custom kernels. It started with my attempt with Komodo etc., but I always get some form of screen flashes or massive FCs. Im am rooted with original 1.12 hboot. I have been able to successully load and run ROMs from Viper to AOKP, even CM10.1 but never able to run a custom kernel. I have wiped clean, reset and still no go. I am using the 2.2.1 TWRP so wondering if the newest TWRP would fix that ability? I know some of the EVO LTEs just wont run with a custom kernel but figured I would try.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Are you S-Off or S-On. I would flash the latest recovery just to be safe.

I've had the same issue with Komodo. I'm S-OFF 1.19. I tried on the latest twrp, 2.3.3, and even on a tip re-flashed 2.3.1
I was able to boot after flashing with 2.3.1, sometimes...but it really wasn't stable enough to even try to use. Constant reboots, FC's, bootloops, etc
The device I'm having this issue on is an insurance replacement from asurion, the 4th one to be exact. i never had this issue on any of the previous devices...my first was new via preorder, that was stolen, and the first 2 refurbs were returned due to other hardware defects, although at least they could run a custom f***ing kernel.
as far as I've been able to tell nobody has found the issue that makes some devices not take to a custom kernel.

Thanks for the replies. I am S-OFF, current baseband etc. I haven't tried the voltage mod, but will look into that and come back for questions if necessary. If you have any tips on the voltage mods etc, feel free to pass them on. I have tried to use Goo Manager to download the newest TWRP but kept getting errors but haven't tried today. Will try to get the most recent on and look at voltage mods. Its not a huge deal, I get great battery life and its fast enough but I wanted to at least see if there was something specific that I have been missing to run the kernels. Thanks for all the replies!
The Komodo kernel worked only after updating TWRP to newest and I also had to use the voltage mod as neither would load without it. Great advice and for first time I am running custom kernel on top of PACMAN ROM. I tried capped at 1.7 then 2.1 both work but the 2.1 started to indicate some weird results within minutes of loading. I backed down to 1.9/384 and looks to be the sweet spot. Thanks again!

I don't know if it makes any difference but I flash the voltage zip before and after flashing the kernel. Also make sure your downloading the s-on if that's what you need
Edit just saw your s-off in your sig

I haven't tried flashing post install since it worked loading pre-install for me but will if I have any additional issues. Thanks for the tips!

What Hboot are you on, and what kind of problems are you having?
The advice is free....the bandwidth, not so much

I'm running a custom stock tweaked jb sense Rom on hboot 1.19 and radio 0809....not one issue whatsoever personally....didn't update to latest radio or hboot for personal reasons and everything working perfectly....the nav crashing issue is a hit or miss issue per device...some have it some don't, hasn't been figured out....I personally fixed the issue by going through several refurb replacements til it worked...seems to be a manufacturing batch pattern...hope that helps...
Ps: when you say you used viperboys Rom, are you talking about the stock odex zip file? If so, you might still be on older hboot...that zip doesn't change radio or hboot versions....just the Rom/system file itself...b

You need to s-off, the reason, hboot 2.09 prevents you from writing on certain partitions, hence your problems.

Thank you all i am s-off so i am gonna go back to 1.19 and try it that way.. Yes it is his de odex version of the rom
