Wich solution to take to upgrade 2.3.5 ginger - Motorola Droid RAZR

I spent my day reading all the threads about rooting the Razr and upgrading to ICS, but with that much information, I am a little confused.
First I rooted my phone using the Motofail Solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342567
Then, and instaled the ClockworkMod using Razr Bootstrapper App:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347767
Now I want to upgrade my phone to ICS, but the tutorials that I found says that the version of ICS are for one specific version of phone or need a specifIc soluction to flash (like RSD lite)
So, my questions are:
1) Did I really need to upgrade for 2.3.6 before upgrade to ICS. Why?
2) Do someone knows a ROM to upgrade to 2.3.6 and other to upgrade to ICS trough ClockworkMod, that works with my phone version (651.73.250.XT910.Latam.en.01) :fingers-crossed:
3) Is there a way to flash a RSD litle fastboot file on linux?

1)
yes, you need to do. ICS is based on the 2.3.6 ROM files via md5 checksums of your current system. this prevents you from flashing some kind of ROM that would brick your whole phone.
2)
i'm not sure which ROM you could choose to do that, but maybe get some nude Retail 2.3.5 ROM... with a branded kind you will not be able to find much / any custom ROM.
just check this to get a working firmware ROM.
why don't you just upgrade to official 2.3.6 and afterwards to official ICS?
3)
man, i don't know... i'm windows user... but just ask google?
ps: official OTA's don't need clockwordmod

The firmware is the answer.
Thanks, Sh4itan for the attention,
That is what I could figure out.
1) The upgrade for 2.3.6 has a firmware on it, so, that´s why I had to upgrade for 2.3.6 before ICS.
2) My phone was a Latam.en.01 version, but I instaled a Latam.br version and worked just fine .
3) I used the RSD solution because I was more confident using a tested solution. So, I still don't know any RSD solution for Linux.

Just download the LATAM ICS Fastboot files and flash them via RSD Lite,It's really that simple.
Those fastboot files are linked at the development section here, use the search bar.

There is a utiluty, in the development section, for linux that you can use to flash .173. But if you have adb installed on your machine you can just flash all the .img through terminal. I beleve the code is /fastboot flash system system.img/ ?fastboot flash boot boot.img/ ect.

[Q] Somebody plz help...ATRIX ME860 wants to have a gingerbread

Hi all
I am a little bit confused?
I got my gf (girlfriend) a motorola atrix from website called PANAMOZ when it arrived I found out it was ME860 (HKTW) not MB860 (ATT 4G)
Some of the stuff was in chinese like keyboard etc etc.
I was going to get her a SGS II same as what I have but she said it was too big for her.
Now the problem I have got is it is running android 2.2.2 and my SGS II is on android 2.3.4
How can I get the motorola atrix ME860 on android 2.3.4?
Do I root it, sbf it via RSD lite, unlock bootloader (if so how),fastboot vol up vol down, etc etc.
I have been reading for 2 days on xda forum and I think I am going to go crazy!
My last moto was the wings! and with my nokia's, HTC, iphones, Blackberry's and Samsung's I have not had any problems updating to latest official or un-official firmware.
So all I would like is some help and support for you guys to get the atrix ME860(HKTW) on gingerbread 2.3.3 or 2.3.4
She is not interested in all types of mods or flashing custom roms every other week!
Just a stable phone that won't let her down and yet be SMART.
Thank you in advance for all your help-advice-tutorials-link
Go to Motorola.com find the atrix and ask them how to update, if your not trying to unlock or root. They should be able to help you.
My overclocked alien atrix
Thank you for your input, I don't mind rooting/unlocking it, its just I don't want to end up bricking it.
I have been reading about using RSD and putting on 1.2.6 then root but when I try that, RSD lite just says fail. When I try the HKTW sbf (4.0.500) it does work but it gives me android 2.2.2 froyo on chinese firmware.
I live in UK and don't mind installing US, UK, EU firmware/sbf its just working out how and in what order I need to do this. I have managed to root it using gingerbreak 1.20apk
your further input is most appreciated thank you.

What happens when you just check for software update in the settings?
If that doesn't work then another option I suggest is to fruitcake up.
1. unlock your bootloader (follow the instructions in the International House of Pudding thread in development).
2. Install RomRacer's Recovery (also in development forum)
3. download the HKTW fruitcake in samcripp's fruitcake thread
4. install fruitcake via recovery you installed in step 2

will have a look a fruitcake
Many thanks
It sounds like you/your girlfriend don't really need to unlock (which may or may not be safe with the ME860, since it is a different device).
What I would do is search for 2nd init and get the 2.3.4 HKTW sbf and use the /system from that build. Unfortunately you cannot flash it directly since it is test-keys signed not signer for end user use. You're going to have to do some digging around to find all the stuff you need. Your other option is to unlock and flash the /system and boot.img through fastboot.
Or you can learn Mandarin / Chinese and surf the HKTW forums to see if they can give you an (un)official HKTW sbf/rom.

[Q] running motorola update

I am running motorola software update and everytime I try I get there is no software update at this time. I want to re-install the offical motorola atrix att update but seem unable to. My att atrix is rooted and is running the stock rom.
is your phone from at&t? as far as I know, there's no recent update since 2.3.4 was released.
Yeah what are you talking about? It sounds like you are on stock already, just rooted.
Sent from my CM7 Atrix 4G
Why do you want to install the latest again if you are currently running it, which it appears you are if there is no update available?
If you want to just reinstall your stock ROM, and you are already on the latest ROM, you cannot do this through update. You will have to flash the latest ROM (which would be your current version) via other means such as RSDLite and a SBF, or via fastboot per the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163342
Link above is for AT&T device.
It is adviseable to NOT flash a SBF though.
Simple search and some reading will give you all the information you need, but it sounds like you probably have no experience or you wouldn't be asking this, so I would say to be very careful and/or not do anything with your phone if stock is what you want.

[Q] Update to Gingerbread on DE O2 Atrix

Hey people, I just bought a new Atrix a week ago. It came with "4.4.20.MB860.O2.en.DE" (fw 2.2.2)rom. I found on the internet that it should be possible to update to 2.3.4. But when I try to do the OTA update it says that my system is up to date. So, Is it possible to update my phone to 2.3.4? How? I found a rom called "1FF-olympus_emara-user-2.3.4-4.5.2A-74_OLE-31-release-keys-signed-rtdach.sbf" but Im aware of flashing it with RSD, is there some other way to do that?
PS: I have not roted or unlocked bootloader my Atrix yet..
Thanks everyone!

If you want to upgrade i would recommend to unlock the bootloader and flash some GB based rom like Nottachtrix 1.3.1, those ones are the stock rom but enhaced I'm running right now Nottachtrix because i want everything working.
Otherwise you can get Neutrino, it's an excellent rom too.
About the sbf with RSD, you need to flash the correct sbf otherwise you will get the "failed to boot", so if you are not sure if it is for your phone, don't do it, take the safe way.
Im not sure pretty much about anything since all tutorials, files, etc.. are made for 2.3.4.. I found this post about rooting the Atrix. Should it work? And another stupid questions. Custom ROMs are installed using CWM recovery right? And is it possible to make a backup of my actual rom for applying waranty in the future? And about that sbf im pretty sure that it should work, but I want to hear that from someone that already did that. I just do not want to brick my phone after week of using..
Thanks! M.

[Q] Need help on a relatively simple problem

Hi guys,
I posted a question similar to this before, but did not get much reply.
I have a chinese Razr, and I would like to install an English stock 4.1.2 onto it. This is mostly because for some reason gapps do not work and I really do want gapps.
I have not flashed phones for two years so I have no idea what everything is. And it seemed like all these requires root. Which is my other problem: I cannot install root on this phone no matter what I try. Someone suggested to me that this was because someone had rooted this phone before in an unconventional way and this locked the phone for any future roots. And when I had updated to 4.0.4 I had lost the root and cannot regain it. I must have tried 20 different methods to root this phone already so I'm pretty sure this is hopeless until I flash a different rom.
In any case, my android version is 4.1.2 and system version is 672.300.384.XT910ChinaRetail.en.CN
And I would like to flash a stock 4.1.2 on it.
Check in the dev forum, you'll find links to the correct gapps for your
version.
Sent from my XT910 using Tapatalk 2
This is the gapps you need : http://www.4shared.com/get/HDGIsCws/update_gms_jb_spyder_r4.html
This is the china 4.12 root tool : http://dl.projectlense.com/download.php?file=spyder/razr_legacy_jbroot_034.zip
This is bmm apk : http://dl.projectlense.com/download.php?file=bmm/com.projectlense.bootmenu.getinfo.apk
What you need to do is simple, root your phone using the legacy jbroot by whirleyes, install the bootmenu manager apk file. Reboot into bootmenu recovery and flash the Gapps R4 package.
Dont thank me !

Then it's easier to do a factory reset,Settings/Backup&Reset/Factory reset/Reset phone...
And you can check Erase SD card to erase your internal storage,to be 100% clean.
But since you are already rooted I'll suggest you to install Safestrap or BMM and try some of Kitkat roms, some of them are really good
