S-Off Help - HTC Rezound

Hello. Was preforming the S-Off and can't get the wire trick right. I am stuck on the Juopuntbear screen. How can I exit the program. I want to just try it again later. I am on an HTC Sensation I figure the procedure is the same for the Rezound. I have done this on my Rezound but need some help anyone?

I had that same problem, but I never did figure out how to abort, so I kept trying and got it to s-off, then it booted normally again and rebooted into the Rom.
When I had the problem I powered down, didn't work so...
I want to say the answer might be use adb fastboot bootloader and just reboot, just a newbie idea.

Make sure the wire you're using is actual wire. I know people have said that paperclips work fine... but I couldn't get it to work with one for the life of me (tried for about 30 min to get it to work). Gave up on the paperclip, unhooked one of my 25ft speaker wires, and it worked the first time.

I used coax cable and speaker wire, just the copper from the coax, but some romex (home electrical wiring) would do the job as well, basically the same principal.

As long as its easily conductive it should work . All those wires you mentioned are all copper, so they're all pretty much the same and usable.

Since the splash screen is a vulnerable state, use the all in one root tool to reinstall recovery, ( Juopuntbear deletes it i believe) then use the tool to reboot to bootloader from here you should be able to start over. Factory reset/reflash a rom. You should be good to go from there...
EDIT: I just realized you are on a different phone, idk if there is an all in one root tool for your phone but this is what i did for my rezound the first time i attempted s-off and ran out of time.

Yea they may all be copper, but of a different gauge and therefore different ease of touching contact #1.
As for one click s-off I don't think there is one out yet.

Well obviously physical size of the wire is an issue lol. I was talking more about the actual material though, rather than the gauge of the wire.

Very true.

Sorry i didnt specify but i didnt mean a one click s-off tool, i meant the all in one rezound root kit. It can kick the phone into the bootloader if needed.

Could somone help me? I need to get back to S-ON
Just hope they don't charge. I asked the same thing before I shipped it out. Luckily they just emailed me today saying it's fixed and said they are going to ship back. How did you damage the port?
I mistakenly tried to put the wrong side of the charger plug in.
Very sensitive the port is

That won't over write the hboot. You need to be able to push the hboot with adb from recovery. Really not sure if there is a way to do it without a USB connection. Maybe in a terminal emulatorwhile booted although I am not sure if trying to push an hboot while fully booted

So, does anyone know if they can even tell? at this point the device wont power on, but they would have to repair it and charge it up to even know its rooted, right?

Correct. And the only way to do this would be to somehow dd a stock HBOOT (I could provide one) over the revolutionary one, and reflash the stock ROM. It would go like this, but since your device isn't powered it's kinda useless:
1. Install the stock RUU on your device (extract the rom.zip from it, google extract rom.zip extract RUU) rename the rom.zip PG41IMG and place on sdcard >>> reboot into hboot.
2. After 2 complete passes, reboot into the system with the hboot of the RUU on the sd. DD it using Terminal Emulator (a command like this, don't actually run it: dd if=/hboot.nb0 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18)
3. Reboot into fast boot to confirm the stock restore.
4. ???
5. Profit
Now obviously the device will require power here and when I used this method I had to stop midway to charge, so even 40% battery isn't an option.
EDIT: If you can get some battery, just do HTC Unlock. Although it's a warranty void, I think HTC would provide support rather to the guy who used their tools instead of a third party one.
My 2 cents, but their 1950 special edition ones so don't lose em!
Oh yeah I just realized you could take your sdcard out and put it into the computer to put files on it, if you can even get it charged though :/

Okay. So your saying that since it can't boot I'm fine, the would HAVE to fix it because it disent have enough charge?
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
I had the same problem back in December. My advice is to turn off your device and conserve as much battery power as you can until you figure out what to do, because once you run out, you're stuck. Unfortunately for me, I found out my port was broken when I plugged it in when I ran out of batteries. I sent it to HTC though, and within a couple weeks I had it back, with HC on it. If you do send it in, make sure to back everything up because they flashed mine.

Well if HTC fixes the port and charges it up and finds revolutionary, I doubt they would refuse to send it back. They've fixed it already.
there have been a couple of people who managed to charge their flyer by taking off the back plate and charging the battery directly. This would only fix a portion of your problem. In the end if you do not have usb connectivity I am not sure you can replace the Hboot. If the port is broken it really has nothing to do with being S Off. I can not see why it would impact the repairs, although I think you stand a decent chance of recieving an invoice.

Have you S-Offed?

Just curious, since someone asked over in Q&A if S-On devices will still be supported, how many people are staying or not.
to me, the whole physically taking wires and jumping those pins is what turns me off to it.
i remember s-offing my inc, and just running that one click program...meh, if something like that comes along, i'll do it..but as for right now, i'm a bit weary of it
Yep, its a super easy, painless process. I have done it on 2 Rezounds so far, took me 2 tries on the first and I got it on the first on the second.
Yes, wasn't easy at first, just took patience & making sure the tiny pin connection actually got touched.

You have to be unlocked and rooted to do it, then once you s-off it will switch the bootloader back to locked.
Got it done. It wasn't nearly as hard as it was made out to be.

you can actually plug in a mouse into your phone, from what i understand. if you have the right adaptor. But it doesnt matter too much anyways, take your phone in and the sprint team can fix it for you, they will most likely flash the RUU if you are honest with them, or give you a new phone. I have never had problems with my store so far, if a phone is physicaly broken, as in the battery wont charge, the buttons dont work, the screen is broke, they give me a new phone or new battery, what ever is needed. and they tell me
your phone is rooted, so we couldnt run our normal diagnostics on it, but if you have any other problems let us know.
that is the BIGGEST reason i stay with sprint. kick ass customer support.

Don't wanna go through the hassle...

But looks like I'll have to. Every headphone I put into my phone will break up if the wire I guess is a certain way. Even brand new fresh out the box. If I barely touch the base of the headphone socket, the phone shortage sounds stop. Will I have to hand it into asurion?

[Q] htc amaze wifi error

im currently running ViperA1.7.1 I was previously using Energy_8.6.2012.Amaze.Sense.3.6_ICS both worked well no problems, but after about a week or so I start getting wifi errors and have to reflash the rom. ive done this numerous times and it gets tiresome having to set everything up again. is there a reason why I get wifi errors periodically ?
I'm not sure. But Viper is funny with wifi. Only with Viper I can't sign into my college wifi. Either way. Back up, format all partitions (except sd) , flash and restore?

Alright here we go,
If you haven't done so already, flash the most stable T-Mobile RUU. The most stable is not the latest. If you are S-OFF then you don't need to relock the bootloader. The RUU is NOT a stock custom ROM, it's a program that flashes the original stock ROM onto your phone and usually fixes all software related issues.
Check to see if Wi-Fi works. You can unlock the bootloader again if you're not S-OFF then re-root.
Now you may flash a ROM.

On this one I don't know if I can agree with you. Here in Miami, where T-Mobile has already finished refarming and reallocating its bandwidth from the Metro acquisition my WiFi and data is better than ever with the latest baseband. My connection is both fast and stable, and I don't have a single issue. This wasn't the case a couple of months ago, but then a call to T-Mobile tech support resulted in them giving me a new SIM card which resolved all of my problems. My previous SIM card was only 6 months old at the time, but tech support informed me of changes in how the new cards are programmed to take advantage of the new post merger configurations. Like I said, my service and connectivity is now the best it's ever been with the latest radio ruu.

Does it say "Wi-Fi error" when you turn Wi-Fi on? I mean in the settings menu where it normally says "connected to..."
If it does you have a hardware issue.
There are two tricks to try.
1. Clean the little gold connectors on the back cover of your case. Those are the antenna connectors. Use a rubber eraser on a pencil. Get all the rubber shavings out before you reassemble.
2. There it's a tin foil trick that is a hardware mod. There a thread on it with pictures. The jist of it it's to put foil over the connectors to give it a bigger antenna. There are pros and cons of doing this. I did this for a while and didn't really see any results.
The Wi-Fi issues generally with earlier versions of viper amaze were from modules that didn't match the kernel. That has been resolved since before I added the aroma installer.
Also, one last thing. If you have two amazes ruining viper, they screw up the Wi-Fi. Going from sense 3.5 to sense 4.1 and up, there's something weird about how the phone gets its address, so if my dev device is on and Wi-Fi is on and my daily phone is on with Wi-Fi on, I don't get Wi-Fi on either.
Hope that helps!
